Fifth Third Bank / 53.com raping customers of money

5/3 Bank sucks! They are constantly raping people's bank accounts. If the money is deposited and they decide you have overdrawn--even though it is there, they will take your money. They just do not care about the customer. Run from this company. I will be your worst customer service night mare. I tell everyone I talk to (and I work with a lot of clients in Cincinnati) never to bank at 5/3 and to withdraw there money and find accounts elsewhere. Run! I suggest everyone pull their accounts out of this "business" if you want to call them one. You suck!

I pulled our personal and business accounts from 5/3 bank. We originally had "Totally Free Checking, " but they changed the accounts and we were being hit with monthly fees. Then, to top it all off, they charged my business service fees for depositing more than $5000 in cash in one month. WHAT? That is INSANE! Who charges fees on DEPOSITS? Remember when "Cash was King?" Well, apparently cash is too much of a hastle for 5/3 Bank, so I suggest you take your business elsewhere. We have since opened accounts with Huntington Bank. MUCH better.

I agree, 5/3 bank sucks. I had let my account get low but I checked at 9:00 at night and I was good. I knew I would be fine because I had a pay check going in at midnight. I get up today and have a double overdraft fee and 1600.00 in the bank at the same time and they wont help me out. For some reason they justify this. I say F 5/3 I'm going to Huntington to set up am account tomorrow.

Biggest rip-off in the banking industry. I fell behind on my Home equity line. I have direct deposit, so the money is available Fridays. I take $500.00 and move it to my account I pay my bills with and pay 5 things. On Monday I check my balance and my account is $163.00 overdrawn. They decided that on Friday after my deposit went in they would take $347.00 to pay my equity loan and then causing 5 things to overdraw. I called them and told them that I would like them to reverse the overdraft fees that they had caused and they told me they couldn't. So let me get this right, you can take money out of my account---causing it to be overdrawn and they you can charge me for the overdraft----WTF. Changed banks the next day.

I just left my local branch office after reconciling a fee dispute. Unfortunately, I need to return there tomorrow to close my account because the reconciliation transactions were still pending. This was the final straw that broke the camel's back. I had been bitten several times in the past for small amount and was able to resolved them. I have gotten tired of constantly having to watch to see if they have screwed up my account. I would hate to have an account with 5/3 and not have Internet access to monitor my account. Had I not had access this time, who knows how much it would have cost me at $8.00 waiting for my monthly statement to show up. That is $8.00 a day for a $0.48 mistake. Luckily, I caught it at the $56 mark. This is one bank that needs to go out of business. I switched to Chase as my primary bank 2 1/2 years ago and haven't had any issues with them. I just hope 5/3 doesn't screw up my account by tomorrow so I can close out the account.

I agree 100% They are terriable! They hit my account for $133.00 In "service fee"s. Not overdraft.. i had 1 pending debit card purchase out! It was a $12 purchase at the gas station. It didnt even clear yet and they charged me the money. This bank is crazy. I tried to reason with the bank that i had banked at for 10 years.. and they wouldnt reverse the charges. Needless to say.. i have seen left 5/3 bank and telling everyone that i know they are going broke and to switch banks. so far i have gotten 14 other people to change there accounts. I think everyone should do the same. This bank is crazy and the only way to stop them is to have people close there accounts. Please.. pass the message on so we can stop this bank.

Carrollwood Branch in Tampa, FL has the worst manager! She was very condescending and rude. 1st time I dealt with her was when she waived overdraft fees from my account that technically never was overdrawn and then responded, "I will NEVER remove another fee for you again." And she was serious, even when her employees made a mistake by telling me that there was not going to be a hold on my deposit. The 2 employees, also at the Carrollwood Branch were wrong, there was a hold and now I have to pay for their mistake. Thank goodness my friend was with me so I have an additional person to help spread the word about how much 5/3 SUCKS! Oh they get more pathetic. When I called the bank, the representative who made the deposit for me told me that he wasn't wrong because technically there was no hold on my deposit, the check was just floating for a day (haa haa) And to top it off, the deposit was excess funds from my student loan, which is from 5/3's

5/3 is the greediest bank i have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. On two separate occasions, my account was overdrawn- due to their shoddy banking practices. Once costing me $132 and the other costing me over $250! both times- even though they agreed it wasn't my fault- they would not reverse all of the overdraft charges. it was against "corporate policy". Apparently, corporate policy is to screw the customer over in every way possible. i am closing my account with 5/3 and am looking forward to the day when they finally go under!

The late fees they have on anything is out of this world. I have never heard of anything so messed up. My father-in-law has a vehicle financed through them, and he was 4 days late on a payment. After it was all said nad done, it ended up costing him $140.00 in late fees for 4 days. They don't notify you until it is too late that if not padi by seven days the fee doubles. I personally have been robbed on my checking account by them. I depositted money one day, and some checks went through that night after I depositted money. They bounced 4 checks because they say the money wasn't through my account. When I went to the bank they were extremely rude, and I was told that they run the highest amount first so this way the other checks would bounce. They actually told me that. Thats like a crook telling me he is going to rob my house later. They suck as a bank, and the people that work in several of te locations around me are so rude. I hope they go out of business, it would be a saving grace for many people who think this bank is so great.

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com installment auto loan

I bought a vehicle in October of 2007 which is financed by 5/3 bank. My first payment was on time however the teller did not realize that the bank does not accept credit card cheques. I called the bank because I didn't receive a receipt and was told that I can make my payment with the next month's payment d/t that error. I went to the bank to make the payments in three checks, one for each month and one for the late fee which they said may be waived. So on top of being charged a late fee, I received a call from a creditor warning me that my car was up for Repossession on the day that I had already made my payments as agreed! I had to give my personal info on that day to pay the extra month's car note. I still was receiving calls at work with threats from nasty 5/3 CSR's stating that I was a month behind, then when I called I got an apology because their system couldn't show all the information because it was turned over to the collection department. Then. more drama in March I received a letter stating that they didn't get my car insurance info and they need it to be faxed to them or they will purchase a policy for me. I refaxed it and thought that it was taken care of, then I got a final warning in April telling me I had 10 dyas or they'd purchase a policy for me. I faxed the old insurance and the new insurance info to the insurance department and was told that the previous fax must have been illegible & may have been thrown away. I called on the tenth day to make sure that the info was there and was assured that the fax was recieved. Then a few days later another call! I spoke with the insurance department again and the gentleman said that he sees my calls into them, as well as my faxes, my old insurance was in a different area- but the number of the policy seemed off to him, however since my old policy could not be found in the insurance company's website, they could not honor my fax. I told him that when I called the number on the letter provided it says that my account is fine so please fix whatever the issue is and stop the calls. He said they still purchased the insurance policy even though the letter said it would be purchased on April 10th if I DID NOT send my insurance info again! I was assured that he'd stop the calls in the meantime and just pay the extra $49.30 with my next payment before May 15th until they can fix the insurance issue. I agreed to do so if they'd credit me back once they fix their system- because the calls from the CSR's are to collect an overdue payment from December- a supposed glitch! It is now May 7th and I am getting 5-8 calls per day starting at just before 8am and until 9pm! I got a call at 9am and then again at 10:12am today, which I answered and said that I have already spoken to insurance department, I was assured that the calls would stop from a supervisor, and I am not behind on any payments please do not call me at work. The CSR said "Either you talk to me right now about your account or you will keep getting calls.", I said, " Ma'am I have spoken to various people and was assured that these calls would have stopped as of April 26th, please do not call again, I am at work and I have to hang up now.", She said, "Well, you'll keep getting these calls then since you don't want to talk to me!", in an elevated tone; then after, I hung up...What should I do?

Fifth Third Bank is stealing from us. We had a car loan from a GM dealer and 5 3 would not let us pay it off. They refused to give us the account number so that we could pay it off. Before the first payment was due, we paid over 95% of the loan amount. this was the amount they told us was due. They next harassed us on Saturday, threatening us that we were in default. We finally overpaid the loan.
We also had an extended warranty which we immediately cancelled three days after getting the loan giving us a total refund. This was part of the loan we had with 5 3 bank. They were to refund this warranty cost in full. We never received the refund check. After many calls to 5 3 bank in which they said a check was sent, they told us another check was being sent. We received a check dated the day after that last call. We deposited it in our local bank. Two weeks later, 5 3 bank stopped payment on the check effectively stealing money out of our account. Not only that, our bank charged us a fee for this. We have been calling 5 3 bank for a week and they keep giving is the run around. This is common theft. They have no intention of giving us our money back. They will not let us talk to anyone but a telephone screener.
My advice is to run as fast as you can from Fifth Third Bank. If not, you will regret it.

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com relocation

I recently relocated to Penn from Cincinnati, OH. I forgot to close my checking/debit card account in person at site branch before leaving. In Oct 2007, I made a full payoff of credit card for $87.89 (that was stated as card balance). I also updated all contact information to new address and phone number. In January I recieved a letter indicating that my credit card balance has been due for 60 days and that they had reported to credit bureau. It turns out that the credit balance i paid in full on hte internet was the balance from LAST statement and did not reflect a late payment charge to my account made a week prior. So when I paid the 87.89 i really owed 87.89 + 19.00 dollars but the website wont tell you that until next statement. My attempt to update my contact information apparently failed. My old number area code (859) had been changed to area code (717) but nothing else was changed. When I asked customer service when was this information changed, "we do not have that information". So no ability to explain how my contact info had been partially updated. The reason this is a big deal is because, i was told, had they had the proper contact information they would have contacted my right away about the matter. This is one of the worst banks I have ever! seen in operation. If you are in Ohio/PA area, please check into this bank before signing anything. PNC bank is much much better to deal with.

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com fifth third bank as an employer

If you think being a customer of Fifth Third bank is treacherous, you should should try working for them.

1) They frequently "forget" to pay you your shift differential. You have to argue to get it, and they will fix it on their own time, a couple months after you point out that it is missing.

2) They sometimes forget to pay you your overtime, and like the shift differential they forget to pay you, it will be adjusted months later.

3) Always get offers of salary increases in writing. You will find out why after you don't see it on your paycheck for a few months, and after mentioning this for a dozen times or so, the person who told you about the pay increase 3 different times, forgot they told you and will claim the conversation about your pay increase ever happened.

4) An overwhelming majority of the staff in certain departments are females and for some odd reason the handful of men who work there are quickly promoted to management, leaving women with far more accomplished backgrounds behind. If you are a woman at Fifth Third Bank, forget your advanced degrees, previous management experience, and directly related banking experience. They are not relevant at Fifth Third Bank.

5) The HR department doesn't even respond to many employment inquiries. I have heard of people applying several times to get an entry level job, even with years of related experience. They will reject your application for such tiny things as not holding your last job for more than 1 year. It doesn't matter how qualified you are or what wonderful talent you'd bring to the office. Sometimes they will contact you months after you originally applied. Amazingly, you'd think such tight application process would improve the quality of people allowed into the doors, but no, this is not the case. I see many employees with bad English and limited logic.

6) They have bonus incentives that are so hard to get, hardly anyone qualifies to get them. Employees make jokes about them. To qualify for them, you must pass a series of somewhat subjective criteria.

The lack of logical thinking by both the teller and her manager was obvious. My friend lost her ID and asked me to help her cash a check from her student loan. I currently have 3X the amount of the check to be cashed in my checking account. I have been banking with 5/3 for 8 years. The teller refused to cash her check to us because she had no picture ID to confirm she was who the check said she was. The various other IDs she had available (w/o picture) and the word of this loyal customer of 8 years, with enough $ in his checking account to cover the third party chac weren't enough to help us out. Basically, for the idiotic staff that practice "no logical thinking" my word wasn't good enough to vouch to identify my friend. Why does anyone banking with them for more than 8 years and enouigh $ in their checking account would want to defraud them by depositing in their account a third party check from a "ghost" individual. Again, these people shoewed no compassion for the extrenuous circumstances or motivation to help a loyal customer. I'm closing all accounts in the next few days and move to another bank that provides intelligent employees to interct with customers. I have no time to deal with idiots, making me waste my time and who can't thgink outside the box making customer to feel being treated like delinquents!.

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com credit card ripoff

Fifth Third bank promoted their credit card to me with a 0% APR for one year. Then they charged me a $35 over limit fee at the end of a month when the acct was under the limit, but the fee put it over the limit incurring another $35 fee they post at the end of the month and they did this three months in a row putting me over the limit with their fee and then charging another fee each month. Then they started charging me finance charges 6 months before the 0% APR expires. When I asked why they said they could not answer that question so I asked to spoeak to a supervisor and the customer service agent refused to put a supervisor on and hung up on me. A 0% APR deal has now cost me $155 because I was over limit on just one day because of my own charges. Customer service sucks but the execs responsible fo these kind of policies are nothing but white collar crooks and belong in jail.

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com predatory charges!

My gripe is that on the 04-04-08 my wife and I had the sum of $392 in our checking account, last weekend we done things and went places the same as any Kentucky resident would do, well on Sunday night we were left with a balance of $165 in our account and I was the lucky bidder on eBay to the amount of $131. Being straight up I paid the amount owed realizing that we'd have $35 left in the account and with payday being on Wednesday this seemed ok. Well to my shock and horror and an ear bashing from the wife she'd checked the account on Monday morning and our Vonage bill had come out also leaving us with the grand total of $4 in the account. Meanwhile our KY Utilities bill was due also and this is where the nightmare begins. As there were insufficient sums in the account it was not paid and we were charged $33. I can live with that yet the Fifth Third Bank has charged us overdraft fees on an additional 11 items with charges totaling $396!

Whereas you ought to have been more careful regarding automatic bill-payment withdrawals, I sympathize with your having been charged multiple (lumped) fees for what ought to have been regarded as a single overdraft event. My complaint is similar, but related, in that Fifth Third Bank charges very high interest, relative to prime, to credit card customers (13.99 / 24.99% to me currently), uses customers' deposited funds at no cost to them, then charges multiple service fees within debit card accounts: $11.00 Monthly Service Charge; $3.95 World Debit Monthly Fee. And whereas the monthly service charge is waived if conditions are met ($500 per month in direct deposits, for example), I still doubt the equity between fees and cost of service, virtually all of which is done electronically. Or have electrons just become that expensive? Here's the (very rough) math: If I have on deposit, on average, $1, 000 (not a lot of money these days), and Fifth Third charges the lower credit card interest rate (13.99%; up from 12.99% a year ago), they make well over $1, 500.00 per year on my money, while charging me almost $50 per year just to use the debit card, not to mention the nearly $1, 500.00 or so per year they're charging me on credit card balance. Add to that the transaction fees they charge merchants (4% on $20, 000 of transactions = $800; that's $3, 800.00 per year for one customer's two stinkin' cards! I plan to pay off my 5/3 credit card asap; shop for a better provider and quit using credit / debit cards whenever possible. I'm fed up with feeling like this bank has me by the short hairs.

This happened to me also, Although I had much more in my account when I deposited $4, 000.00 in my account on Monday Morning. 5-05-08. The deposit is held until the next morning. meanwhile I had about 2, 300.00 in incoming debits all in varing amounts. The bank "Batched them all and now I was overdrawn. They charged me 264.00 in fees and did not even touch my overdraft protection. Some of the debits could have cleared, but they just lumped them all together and screwed me. Well, I am pulling my personal accounts, my IRA, my business accounts, and whatever else I have with them.

Bye bye Fifth Third.

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com tax deposit missing

For three months I have been asking 53 to provide the IRS with an advice of credit to track my tax deposit for my employee witholding. My branch has assured me that the matter has been settled twice, only to have the IRS contact me again stating the matter is not settled due the failure of fifth third to provide an advice of credit.

Either 53 can't or won't provide this information as requested which leave me with the desicion of whether to find a new bank.

We live in Galien Michigan and refinance our home to have a new home put on our property that we have resided on for 25 years. Come to find out a year after we have lived in our new home fifth third forclosed on our home and sold it in a sherriff auction with them rebuying the home w/o even letting us know. We cash our payroll checks there every week and visiting the same branch for the last 52 weeks we never were told that there was anything wrong with our mortage. Now it's been almost a year and we have called the bank everyday twice a day location after location and no one gives us advice on how to keep our home. We find this a little odd as we never were given notice no letters nothing the only notice we did get is that in the local paper on a sunday morning that our house was in a sheriff auction for monday. We have tried so many times to ask them for copies of our statements and they wont give them to us. We thought maybe the payments were being place accidently in another account with the same name but nothing. I have two children and am married but my grandmother raised my mother on this property I was raised here and not all I wanted was to raise my children here and we didn't even get a Hey Mrs. Beadle there's a problem with you mortage. I have been members else where and if you were a couple days late on a payment they would tell you. I asked them the phone number that they had for us and it was a number that had never been ours which was a typo for them as we have had the same phone number for years. Something fishy is happening and you would think when we are telling them we will pay the mortage and they say no somethings gotta give. Maybe since we refinance we only owed 20K on the house they will beable to make some money back. Why else would they re buy the home at the auction. Fifth Third Bank is Unruly and has many faults but I would have never thought they would go this far. Maybe the President of the company should think if this was his daughter in our shoes. Maybe will just take the house from her without giving her any answers

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com steals money with their overdraft!

Even though I deposited $250 at 7:30 in the morning - this bank decided not to actually deposit the money until that evening, and also decided to put through any charges for that day and then charge me overdraft charges for them, EVEN THOUGH THEY HAD THE FUNDS IN THEIR BUILDING AT 7:30 A.M. I have contacted them and told them to close my account IMMEDIATELY as they charged me $124 in overdraft charges for ONE DAY. They are a scam and a rip off! I can't afford to work to pay them to sit on their ###! If they do not close my account immediately I will be seeking an attorney to sue them. WORSE BANK IN THE WORLD!

Please let me know if you found an attorney. I have a similar compaint against 53 and how they handle their overdrafts. I was charged 269.00 in over draft fees because of the way they pay their charges I was charged for 7 overdrafts when I should have only been charged for one. Because they pay the largest amounts first then the smallest amounts last. Which can cause you to get charge more in over draft fees. They say they do this to help their customer but they do this because 9/10 times this will benefit them in fees. Again I would have only had to pay one over draft fee instead of 7 if they would have processed the payments in the order they came in.

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com deceptive business practices

I refinanced my home and took out a 2nd mortgage of $21,100 in May of 2007 to pay to have a new well dug and a mold problem fixed. I thought I was getting just a 15 year loan on the 2nd mortgage, but found out yesterday during a solicitation call from Countrywide that a 15/30 loan, which is what I was told I have, means that at the end of the 15 years I will owe a balloon payment of about $17,000! When I went back and looked very closely at the monumental stack of paperwork I had been presented with and rushed through signing, I saw that this is exactly what the case was. This was never explained to me by my loan officer. I would never have agreed to a balloon payment loan. I don't believe in them. I think they're just putting off the inevitable and are for people who just live for today without thinking down the road about the future. I am so disgusted. I was told my only option was to pay more toward principal each month to pay it down quicker. READ YOUR AMMORTIZATION SCHEDULES VERY CLOSELY. LOOK AT THE LAST PRINCIPAL FIGURE!

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com terrible customer service!

As an excellent Fifth Third customer, with no late payments, excellent credit history and score, I'm now faced with some of the scenarios that I read about here. My payments are due the 5th of each month. I make (send) my payment in on the 19th of the previous month. I sent a payment on Jan 19th for my Feb 5th bill.

On Feb 4th, my online checking showed it had never cleared and I called Fifth Third. Their customer rep, though sympathetic, said it was lost in the mail and to stop payment of that payment and send another as I had a 10 day grace period. I suggested stopping the payment and I'd do an electronic check with him over the phone. His reply was that I could not do so until the payment was actually late. So I stopped the check, was charged $29 by my bank to do so and mailed another payment.

Checking my online account on Feb 12 (two days before my grace period was up) I saw my second attempt at payment had not been posted to my account. Again I call and was told to wait another day as they had not received it but the first payment did arrive on the 4th after my first call (what a coincidence) but of course they couldn't post it as it was stopped by my bank. I wait till today, called Fifth Turd and still they have not received it and of course use the excuse of the postal service. I asked for a supervisor (an unsympathetic and unfeeling person) who again blames the postal service and says if it does not arrive until after the 14th that I will be assessed a late fee.

From here on out I will be sending the checks with a receiver confirmation and catch them at their little game but in the meantime I'm at their mercy and being held hostage. I'll keep you all posted and any comments will be appreciated.

You should try and get another loan ASAP. 5th 3rd is really dishonest with their customers and your home is your dream. Right now I am having to hire an attorney because of their lack of communication and theie poor follow up. I can not trust anything they say.
5th 3rd can ruin your credit score. If your credit score is ruined you are stuck with their home loan. Then they can say you are late with your home loan payments and include extra fees and you are screwed. Next they will have your home sold right from your you. I would get out from their "wings" so you do not have to be at their mercy. Once your credit score is poor they know they have you where they want you.
Best of luck, Marcey

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com Failed to cancel credit card and accumulated fees!

Created Credit Card Error then Failed to robustly close/cancel credit card - then abuse starts In Oct-2007 Fifth Third bank failed to mail billing payment invoices on a credit card I had just opened. This resulted in late fees. I went to the local branch and the Fifth Third representative canceled the account for me, but the main office failed to execute and complete the closure. Over the next 4 months charges and late fees continued even though the account was canceled.

Fifth Third turned the account over to their internal collections and the calls began. The collections representative refused to hear that their office had created the problem and was working to correct it however the main office failed to close the account and began a run of abuse.

02Feb2008 - three phones calls progressively more abusive. I went to the local 5/3 branch and worked with the representative to get the account resolved one more time - which he did professionally and politely. 4 hours later the 5/3 collections called again and began yelling and cursing me as I attempted to politely explain that their branch office was resolving the issue.

5/3rd collections: [protected] 5/3 collections rep John 04feb08 1155am - he refuses to give his extension number so I can call him back. He also refuses to call the main office or any other 5/3rd representative to check on the problem. He refuses to hear the results of their own branches review of the issue. He is apparently not the person that called Saturday. He did confess, on the phone that they use yelling and cursing and do not apologize for it.

5/3rd main office customer service: Diane ext 65414 at 1147am 04feb08. Gave me the number of the 5/3rd collections. She also refused to assist in resolving the issue. Similarly, would not apologize for the abusive treatment and reported that this is accepted policy of the bank – however 5/3 knowingly partitions the two offices (collections and banking) for efficiency.

Meanwhile the collections continue to call my wife, who has medical problems, and progress the abusive calls.

An email was sent from the customer rep at the local branch, who is attempting to correct the issue, this is ignored by the rest of 5/3 management and collections even though their banking records (Which the rep gave a copy to me) clearly show they have an account error.

Such abuse and unprofessional behavior as never experienced before. And that 5/3 reps and management actually feel that this is appropriate behavior. Furthermore, they refused to help or acknowledge that their system has an error even though their own branch rep demonstrated it clearly. He had to work through their convoluted system by himself. If there were not that ONE person in all of 5/3 who listened, I would be in dire straights.

My lawyer, acknowledging that 5/3 is an unprofessional company, recommended that I move my accounts to another bank to avoid retribution. They are that bad as to try to further abuse me for proving them wrong.

There is no way any collections rep at 5/3 bank would yell and curse at you, thier calls are recorded and montiored by supervisors and the supervisors work right with them. Besides you would get statements and letters, then auto dialer calls YOU WOULD KNOW IF YOU WERE PAST DUE before any collections rep would call you. Stop making excuces for debt you have not paid.

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com bogus fees added to mortgage payoff!

As a REALTOR, I was asked to help a client work out a short sale on her home, after she lost her job. The 1st mortgage was thru 5/3 and the 2nd was thru PNC. I spoke to 5/3 and they agreed to let me handle the account for her and began conferring with me. We aggressively marketed the property and received an offer in less than 3 months, in which 5/3 would be paid off including the fees, penalty and interest and the 2nd would get about half of their payoff. PNC agreed to this, since they had an ex-husband to go to collect the rest of their money from. We had everything in order and was waiting for the final payoff from 5/3. They managed to drag their feet for another 2 weeks until their was 1 day left until the closing. The prospective buyer had inspections done and had to have utilities turned on to do so. The day before the closing, an employee of 5/3 strategically emailed me the final payoff and it was over $7200.00 more than the payoff that had been given to both me and the 2nd mortgage co. ! Since they had refused to give me anything in writing the entire time I had the property listed, I had no recourse. They were already going to get COMPLETE PAYOFF PLUS ABOUT $4500.00 AND THAT WASNT ENOUGH. They claimed the excess fees were attorney fees, however, it is over a month later and they still have not served papers to the owner, nor is there any evidence that Foreclosure is in process. About a week ago, they told me to go ahead and continue to try to sell it because it wouldn't go into foreclosure for a while. I asked if it hadn't gone to foreclosure yet, what were the excess fees for. I talked to the manager of the loss mitigation dept, after much ado, and he said he would make sure someone didn't make a mistake. I have yet to hear from him.

THE END RESULT:

1.the house is sitting empty and un-winterized.
2.The seller is going to file bankruptcy.
3.The prospective buyer (single parent of 2) found out 3 days b4 Christmas that her and her 2 kids were NOT getting the house they had anticipated and are now out several hundred dollars. 4.Both the buyers agent and I wasted a lot of time and effort to find out that Fifth Thirds' staff are LIARS, THIEVES, and flat out CRIMINAL.

ALL REALTORS AND 5TH3RD MORTGAGE CUSTOMERS BEWARE: DON'T EXPECT THEM TO CARRY THRU WITH ANYTHING THEY SAY. GET IT IN WRITING AND THEN HOLD YOUR BREATH. FROM WHAT I'VE READ ON THIS SITE AND MANY OTHERS, THEY ARE GETTING AWAY WITH ROBBERY!

Still in 2011 things have not changed. I am 90 days into being in contract and still have not closed on the home, and 5/3 just wanted there 3rd extension. It seems like they don't do there job until a day or two before closing and come up with something they missed and need right now or something I have already given them and need it againg because they first time it was misplaced. This has been the most frustrating experience and I wouldn't ever recommend anyone to do business with them. If I didn't have so much time invested in it, I would tell them to stick it!

This bank is screwing me on my auto loan. I am unable to talk to anyone. The operators send me in circles and ultimately I end up right where I left off...no where. They tell me three different things at any given moment. They will not give me a pay-off amount. They wont deposit my checks for weeks at a time. I found a fifth third bank in roswell, georgia and plan on visiting there in person. Maybe that will help but I doubt it.

We're doing a short sale, or so I thought. It seemed to be going along in the disfunctional way we thought it would...but that was o.k. and expected. In the end, when we thought we had it all worked out, boom...it's time to make the sellers life a living hell. I'm not going to go into details but take my word for it they'll find a way to make it "not work". Having delt with them for a few weeks I find it hard to believe they can function at all. Want to complain about it? Hey, maybe go to someone in charge who can "really" make things happen? Good luck. You'll never get to that person. It will take you hours on the phone just trying to get some meaningful help. The people at the top don't want to hear from you. In fact, they so much "don't" want to hear your problems they don't even give their phone operators access to their office. The only way you're going to get to them is to parachute in!

I agree with your assessment of 5/3 professionalism and follow through. I had a mortgage with them and after falling behind in ayments due to medical leave from work- my home went into foreclosure. I wanted to work with them and they said - on a number of occasions when I called that they were reviewing my file. In the end they NEVER contacted me to set up a repay agreement or loan modification and ultimately I lost my home. Pass along to your prospective buyer that 5/3 is crap and not to EVER use them. They don't care about the family applying for the mortgage - all they want is to make the money even when it is not there.

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com stealing money through overdraft fees!

I have a Fifth Third Student Checking account with them, and once I went only $7.70 over my current balance. Within an hour of discovering it, I had brought my account to $0.05 in the black. However, I checked my balance the next day and found that I was $32.95 in the red because of an overdraft charge! I anticipated that, so it didn't bother me too much at the time. However, my paycheck was deposited today and I found out that they had assessed me a total of $103 in overdraft charges. They took my whole paycheck and still left me $3 in overdraft. I called them and they say if I put the $3 in today that I won't be assessed any further fees. If they do assess me again, there will be a fresh complaint on here and a call to the Better Business Bureau.

The Senior Vice President of Fifth Third Bank Is scum. He just sent me a threatening letter saying that if I didn’t pay my overdraft fee of $237.82 right now he was going to turn me over to a collection agency. Fifth Third Bank is a criminal institution. They are scum too. Yes I agree with the person who said in these hard times Fifth Third Bank should be helping people not robbing them. Fifth Third Bank is nothing but greedy parasites feeding off people who are struggling to keep their head above water. Fifth Third Bank is the reason my account is overdrawn.

I have so many complaints about 5/3rd there is not enough room to get them all in. The most recent is, I had a $3.10 charge on my account which caused a $33 charge. Well I disputed the charge and got reimbursed by vendor. I talked with the manager of the bank and he said when it was actually put back in my account I would get the $33 back. Okay that was done on the 19th and it is now the 31rst. Not only that I actually took him at his word and added it into my balance, which I should not have because it caused my account to be overdrawn. I was expecting him to do what he said and put in our account. So by him not giving us back what was ours it cost me $198. When I called the 800 number to ask about it, she stated that "because the $3.10 did not cause our account to be overdrawn she did not know if I would even get the charge back" How does that make sense, if I never would of been charged incorectly for the $3.10 I would of never received the $33 charge. This bank is full of theives and when you catch them doing something wrong they will not live up to it. Do you know they actually told me it was against the law to tell me how a check I wrote to someone (who also banks at 5/3) was cashed? I was disputing it because it was post dated, the teller actually took the check, checked my account, seen I had a deposit posting to cover it and cashed it. However then they come back through and charged me $396 in overdraft fees for that check. If they cashed it knowing I did not have the money in my account at that moment because they seen the deposit how is it my fault? Of course they sent the check back because I did not have the money to cover the check and the $396 in fees. What can I do?

I have been dealing with issues with Fifth Third for months now, as so has my father. I have been with them for over 5 years now, and they treat you like crap. On the 20th I was overdraw by .36 cents and got charged $33.00 for it. Though in their rules and regulations is clearly states that you have 3 DAYS to pay them back without any more charges being done, on the 22nd I get charged another $24 DAILY OVERDRAFT FEE! The same just happened to my father last week. Of course, as him being a male, when he called to tell them that he has the print out of their rules on there, stating that you do have the three days before charges apply, he gets them reversed. I call and do the same this morning, and I am told that's not correct. That I WAS IN THE WRONG! Two weeks prior I get almost $300 overdraw fees taken out of my acct. Though I kept putting money in. They were saying that the cahrges wern't taken out until Midnight, and that was from the day before, so thats why my money keeps being taken out. Though it says that you are only suppose to be charged a $6 fee per day, I was getting $24 per day. When I call, or go down to the bank, they tell me that my online checking means nothing, that I have to call them to see. I specifically asked the girl, that since I'm talking to her, ARE THERE ANY MORE CHARGES PENDING? She tells me NO! But, of course, I get charged the next DAY! I get on the phone again, and they tell me to check my online checking from now on so I can see. I was speechless, due to them just telling me less than 24 hrs prior, that i have to call THEM to see. They are the ABSOLUTE worst bank I have ever had. The only reason I had them in the first place is b/c they took over our small intown bank. I will be taking my money out of their bank and never deal with the rude harsh condesending people again. The way our economy is now, they should be helping people. Not robbing people.

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com poor customer service!

We have been customers for at least 10 years and have not missed a payment or deadline. I called on November 27th, 2007 for a payoff balance of our mortgage. Our coupon booklet printed by the bank stated to call for a final balance. I was given an amount and therefore sent a money order to the above address dated the same day as the phone call. During the phone call, I reiterated that this is for sure the final balance of our loan and the customer service representative assured me that it was the total. He also said that we would receive a check in the mail for the balance of our escrow account, our title/deed of the house and the copy of the bank statement saying that we are paid in full. The customer service representative told me to expect all this in the mail within two weeks. I waited until December 11, 2007 and called the bank again. The customer service representative said that we still owed money for the interest accrued on the loan. When I asked if the final payment was received, the representative said the check was received on December 5th and that the check was posted wrong at the bank and that we still had a balance due on our mortgage.

I informed the representative that I called for a final balance on Nov. 27th of this year and that our booklet said to call for a final balance. The representative still said we had a final balance of interest to pay and that the person I talked to should never have given the balance over the phone, that it was to be sent via fax, or mail. I took the representative at his word and sent the check promptly. I feel that the bank was in error and that the posting of the check caused more interest to be accrued. I was all set to put the balance on our visa, but the bank hung up on me. I called the bank back right away and I talked to a different representative. This gentleman said that yes we still had an interest balance due on our account, however they could use our left over escrow monies and pay the balance and that they would send us a check for the balance to close the account. I told the representative about the run around that I received. I also told the representative that I want confirmation about the closure of our account, a check for the balance from our escrow, a copy of the statement stating that our account is now closed, and finally a copy of our title/ deed for our house.

My major complaint is that every time I called the customer service at the bank, I received different information. I also feel that the interest accrued after the check was received should NOT have been charged to our account. I feel that the bank owes us an apology and a prompt response. I have tried to call the bank to complain directly to them, but they don't seem to be listening. I hope that I don't have to wait another 2 weeks for confirmation about our closure of our account. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Linda LaCross.

Usually, when they are talking about escrow, they are assuming that you are selling or refinancing, and in that case, a few days of extra per-diem interest is added into the payoff amount given by the bank (always, always, always by fax. Phone payoffs are never never never correct, and should not be used to judge how much to auctually pay off the mortgage.) The details of how to auctually pay off the mortgage will be on the written, faxed payoff statement. I suggest you get a faxed payoff statement sent to you, and make it good through a week or two after you request it, then send wire transfer to the wiring instructions on the statement to ensure that the funds are recieved by the lender, and your wire confirmation will be your proof that the loan was paid off ie. no waiting around for cancelled checks.

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com lost funds, stollen money

Fifth third can't even handle basic math. They made a mistake with a deposit (put it in someone else's account)then charged me hundreds in fees for the privilege of taking my money. After confronting them with proof(deposit slip, original check stamped "Fifth Third for deposit only") they finally admitted their mistake and put my money back in my account(unfortunately my account was charged so many overdraft fees that almost all of it was taken.) This is their mistake, they admitted it, I have proof. Now my home has a lien on it due from some group of criminals that Fifth Third uses to collect from people they have screwed. This institution should be closed and the leaders imprisoned with rapists and murderers. We need a Gitmo for white collar crime.

My husband has be out of work for some months. He has a job now and was working with the fifth bank about his car payment. He paid two payments on the car and the man at the bank, which was not nice, said that if we will paid two payments on the car, That someone will not come and take it away. That was a big lie. It was a Sunday and they got the car anyway, we just have two more payment to pay on it to be up to date, but now we will have to get the car back now. Do not trust this bank, the customer service is ugly. They just tell you anything to get some money.

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com car payment.. being screwed over

I have never made late payment on my acct.. last month I tried to refinance and made an appointment to meet at a branch at 11 am on a Saturday. I was told not to send my payment because we were refinancing. I had to drive an hour away to go to the appt and when I got there I was turned away because they "didn't have time" to help me before they closed at 12. I tried to contact the woman I had been dealing with over the phone and none of my calls were returned. I ended up mailing my payment late because I couldn't resolve anything. In my car payment book it shows that my payment is counted late if it's received on or after the 14th and I have about a $8 late fee. I got a letter on Oct. 17th that was dated for the 12th saying that my payment was late and that I owed them $16 in late charges (my actual payment cleared my bank on the 14th.) I sent a letter this month with a check that included the $8 - not the $16 and told them the reason my payment was late was their own fault. I sent this month's payment on the 2nd... and now here it is the 13th and in one day my payment will be late again.. I've never had a payment take this long to clear. The payment center is only one state away and every month it's taken 2-3 days for my check to clear after sending it. So, why hasn't it cleared after 11 days now? I have a feeling they're holding my payment to make it late again this month because I tried to stand up for myself by sending them a letter that wasn't even nasty... Talk about great customer service.

Never ever bank with Fee Third Bank and Fraud company! If you have a mortgage or car loan, Refinance with another lender. If you have an account close it. If someone tries to pay you with a Fifth Third check don't accept it. "This can easily be resolved.".. yeah, right. if you believe this I have some Enron stock I can sell you cheap. I would rather get a loan from Al Capone. They will Fee Fee Fee you until they take every penny they can and then charge 2/3rd's more in fees! They have an awful reputation in Cincinnati.

All fees due to bank error can be reversed with proof. It is company policy. No bank delays a payment as retaliation. That is absurd.
As with many larger companies, payments can be delayed due to MAIL time.

Many clients have chosen to automate their payments to avoid this. Nothing is fool proof in this day and age. Technology isn't perfect, nor are humans - at ANY company. This can easily be resolved.
Advise to all... make your loan payments on time. No matter what you are told. The best person to protect you - is YOU.

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com fees charged

I am a small business owner and an employee accidentally charged a customer $2702.70 instead of $2.70. The customer contacted the number on their card right after the transaction occurred and was told it would be taken care of. As the merchant I was unaware of the charge until after we had settled out that evening and contacted my bank rep. the next day and was told to doa refund so at 2:00 a.m. I was trying to do a refund and did not have all of the numbers on the card to complete it. I called the customer the next day and offered to give them a check to deposit in their account so they would not be over drawn. The customer declined based on the banks advice to file a dispute and told me the bank would be sending me the form to sign and return. I checked our mail each day and never received the form. I told the customer this on Sunday evening (1 week after transaction occurred) Monday I was contacted by the customers wife and called their bank to talk to Teresa. She tells me they let them use their card in the mean time and have racked up over $1200 in overdraft and nsf fees and are expecting me to pay for the fees and that she has gone above her duty and regional will not let them remove the fees. I ask to talk to someone from regional and she tells me they won't talk to me and the person I need is out of the office on this day. By now I am furious and feel like someone from 5/3 is trying to scam me out of money I do not have. I went and did a refund for the full amount and gave the customer a copy. The next day thew customer contacts me and says their basnk wants me to give her cash because the credit didn't go through. I told her I can't because I've already done the refund and I contact my bank rep that tells me her bank (5/3) has to go in get the money and deposit it in to her account. The last thing I heard 2 days ago was Teresa was unaware of this and thought it wouls go in automatically and she would have to check on it.

Also I might add this:
When I married my hubby and tried to add him to my checking account
they told us he had to have a credit card or they could not add him.
I went on the other side of town to a 53rd there and they said they had
never heard of such practices to add someone to a checking account.
I hate banks and when will the pres start looking out for the hard working middle class?
These banks are disgusting and predatory and have helped to destroy the middle class.
Now we just wait till my husbands direct deposit goes thru and then withdraw
all our money and use cash all week.We avoid using our debit card like the plague!
I am considering going back to paper checks and just pay $3 to cash it at the walmart next
door to 53rd.Its far cheaper then the thousands of dollars they have ripped me since I opened my account in 1993.And if you think they are bad, Huntington and Chase are worse! Its one big nightmare till they change some laws to protect us consumers!

I had given my attorney a check for 300.00 on a friday, monday I looked at my account online, all of my transactions had cleared and I was 61.00 short to cover the 300.00 check I had written. On tuesday, 5/3rd reverses all of my previous transactions that had cleared and post the 300.00 check then charges me overdraft fees of 296.00. When I called to complain the girl tells me that it is their right to process transactions the way they want and I signed the agreement when I opened my account. I'm closing my account today, and if they ever read this then, I HOPE YOUR BANK FAILS! Mr. President, DO NOT BAIL THEM OUT! LET THEM FAIL! THEY DESERVE IT!

I deposited a check of 200 dollars (in cash) at a 5/3 branch and was told that it would immediately be counted as "Availably Balance". We we where already cutting it close on our balance, but the$200 dollars would leave us breathing room. I then went to the gas station, got gas then went home and checked my Internet banking. The $200 deposit had posted along with the $39.00 in gas. I had receipts with the times of the deposit and gas purchase. Two days later, I'm charged $33.00 for the overdraft of the gas purchase because fifth third posted the gas purchase before the cash deposit. I called customer service explaining that I had proof of the time on the receipt only to hear that deposits go through at the end of the day. Do Not Bank With Fifth Third!

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com harassing calls!

I have never ever dealt with a company that their collection agency was based in the PHILLIPIANS! In mailing a car payment on September 30, 2007, (our grace window was Sep 29 - Oct 10) we started receiving phone calls all hours of the day/night. When finally speaking with a Customer Service Rep it was RUDE; THREATENING'; VERY UNPROFESSIONAL... then to top it off when I told him it wasn't my fault that the check from SOUTH BEND to CINCINATTI hadn't arrived, that was the mail services problem... he very rudely informed me he wasn't in OHIO, but calling from the PHILLIPIANS! WHAT? He had my account information; my personal information and I was talking to someone who didn't even live OR work in the U.S? I was appalled! Is this the way to get CHEAP LABOR? My payment was not LATE; I didn't deserve to be harassed. I will not deal with this bank again! IF possible I will refinance my loan with someone else.

Fifth Third Bank is not only calling me directly but, calling my office as well. I feel it is total harassment to call me on my mortgage loan when it is not late until after the 15th of the month. Furthermore, it is 02/09/2011 and I still have not received my 1098 Interest for my line of credit with Fifth Third Bank. If they want to call me after the 15th of the month that is fine because then I would be late but, to call me asking me why I have not paid my mortgage and could I make a payment today when it is not even past due is absolutely rude and HARASSMENT! Also, I think it should be against the law to call my office!

Fifth Third banks automated system starts calling at 8:00 in the morning and every 30 minutes after that. We pick up to talk to them but there is nobody there. We are happy to talk with them and work out our payments but all this does is harass and irritate us. We have pulled all other accounts from the bank as a result but cannot with this account. Bad Business ! Bad Bank !

I was forced to file a civil suit against 5/3 bank case number 2011-cv-2340 Wilson County, TN, for receiving 784 phone calls in a 6 week period . This action was a direct result of me being a full month behind in my payment. This case was ruled in my favor under the current Fair Debt Consumer protection Act. ( section 807(4) and section 806 (5). I understand that 5/3 is wanting their money and I have that financial responsibility to ensure that payment is made. However, after filing 11 hardship packages, all denied, 9 registered letters to stop and desist letters, I sought relief from the courts. Debt is a responsibility and should not be taking in a light manner. However, when an individual who has attempted to work with debtor, has failed and harassing phone calls have ensued to the level of 784, documented by phone records and logs, in a 6 week period one may consider a civil matter to get the calls to stop. Don't be intimidated by the court process, it is designed to work with fairness, for the most part. These cases can be filed by the individual under $140 . without the aid of an attorney when they are filed in small claims court

I completely agree with every complaint posted regarding Fifth Thirds' harassing phone calls. I NEVER would have personally chosen them to handle the financing of my truck beause I actually had never heard of them, but the dealership said 5th 3rd offered the lowest rate at the time. I later found out that wasn't the truth, but the damage was already done.
My grace period ends on the 16th, but the harassing calls start way before, and it' always the same hard to understand foreign speaking man. Prior to exploding on this guy I explained that my payment was always received before the end of the grace period & asked why he was calling. He rudely made reference to the actual due date & bluntly stated he would call every month that it wasn't. There was absolutely no reasoning with this guy so I hung up on him. He called back immediately, but I wouldn't answer the phone, so he repeatedly continued to call.
I will never use 5th 3rd again & advise everyone I know about my experience.

We get harassing phone calls from Fifth Third Bank regularly even after we requested the number be removed. We do not have an account with them, and never will have. Very poor business conduct.

Fifth Third nak is a scam. I have had a car loan with them sence 2001 and have never missed a payment. Sever time when they did not recieve the payment by the due date, not after the grase period they begin calling, 3 and 4 time a day. I am then asked to wait for the next aviaiable agent. they always call eary on Saturday and Sunday mornings. After I explain to them that the payment is in the mail, and that there is still over a week before the grase period is up, they try to talk me into making a paymeny over the telephone. When this first happened I did not want a late payment on my credit report and I agreed, but guees what, they charge a fee for the service that is more then the late payment. Not only did I have to pay a "fee", 2 days later my check was cahsed by fifth third bank, so I made a double payment, plus paid a fee that was more then the late charge. I think this is a out and out SCAM. I pay bills over the phone and online all the time, but no one else charges a fee for the service. I qwould really like to know who I could report this to, because I really bleive this a is a money making scam.

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com - worst bank ever!

This bank is the worst bank ever. They go out of their way to find opportunities to charge overdraft fees. I currently have three accounts with them, and I have been charged overdraft fees even when both of the following occurred: 1. I had money in my other accounts to cover the expenses and 2. I transferred enough money from one account to the other...

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com customer service is harassing me!!!

I am being harassed by Fifth Third bank. They are calling 5-6 times a day and my truck payment isn't even late! I received a called yesterday on Labor Day and spoke to a non english speaking witch. I tried to ask a question about why I am being called so much and late into the night (8:00-9:00pm). She immediately interrupted me, I told her how rude it is to interrupt and the witch hung up. I called the customer service number back immediately and received a recording saying the office was closed for Labor Day...they called me, it wasn't closed. Today I called the company and asked to speak to a Supervisor, I was told they were All in a meeting and someone would call me back, that never happened. 6 hours later and 3 more harassing phone calls later I received yet another call from a non-English speaking rep. I asked to speak to a supervisor, She refused me, saying she could help me. I told her no thanks and I need to speak to a supervisor. She refused 2 more times then finally transferred me to a supervisor. A non English speaking woman got on the phone, I asked if she was a supervisor, she said Yes. I told her I have a complaint about yesterday's customer service, she interrupted me almost immediately. I told her that was one of my complaints. Our conversation if you can call it a conversation consisted of me trying to talk and her interrupting me. I told her I wanted to speak to whoever is over her and she refused. She stated it was none of her supervisors business. I told her I was being harassed with all of the phone calls when my payment is not late. She kept saying so what, it was not harassment and the phone calls would continue. This went on for several minutes, me telling her to put her supervisor on the phone. I eventually gave up, called her a F-ing (B) witch and hung up. I am looking into refinancing my truck note to get away from this bank. I am beyond pissed. Bad, Terrible customer service

I too am being harrassed every month for my car payment + the next month's car payment. I am on time every month and I even pay extra. Yet, I am getting calls every hour sometimes for DAYS at work and at home. Thank GOD they do not have my cell.

I just argued with the guy at 5/3 to STOP THE CALLS... and he hung up on me.

Stay AWAY from 5/3 bank. I am so furious... i cannot wait to transfer this loan
