Family Dollar violent general manager

To whom it may concern
I am a loyal shopper at Family Dollar Stores, I love shopping at the cofferyville store it
Is the most clean I have been to so it seems . The people there are very friendly all but
One, your General Manager is the most rude person I have seen in years.
I work as A Security Guard here in town, she yelled at me because I parked in her
Parking place she said, I never saw a marking for dedicated parking this happen in 2009
I am a Eastern Star, In this same year this lady same lady grabbed an item out of the hands of a 94 year old lady Ms. Knox who pasted away in 2010
The situation is getting worse their was a police report this year on that same lady for hitting someone`s child my coworker told me of this . There are very negative posting on facebook about the manager not the other workers who seem to enjoy helping keep to keep the peace . Im writing this to save the relationship between this town and your company .
People are talking we feel your company does not care because over the past 4 years
We have reported the there is a very rude person at the helm of one of your stores and our voice isn't being heard please review the complaits and you wiil see the pattern . All races and people are really having it hard shopping when she is on duty we just go to dollar general when we see her car for feel of mean looks or a sour demeanor as you shop as she follwows you around the store as if we are there to do some type of wrong

i`m so sorry to have had to do this but I need your store and I like it, it`s hard with the way things are there now….

Very nice letter, but jsut to let you know, if this is the only place you put it, it will never get to the Corporate Office. This is an independently run forum/comment site that has nothing to do with the actually business that are posted about on it. If you have any issues you have to contact their corporate offices directly, they even have a Facebook page. Just hate seeing people waste their time.

Family Dollar treatment of employees

Store #5631

My daughter has worked for Family Dollar for 1 1/2 years. She has put up with being called names, being mistreated and complaints are not taken seriously. District Manager Pam Holmes is the worst offender. She treats the employees equally as bad as she treats my daughter. I dont feel a business should be ran by someone who engages is name calling and abusive language when addressing the employees. For the most part my Daughter enjoys people and this type of work but doesnt know how long she take being mistreated. She recently announced her pregnancy and Pam told the manager of that store she doesnt believe my daughter and if she does not prove her pregnancy she will face possible termination for lieing. Today I have contacted the Dr's office and have obtained a signed letter from the Dr. stateing her true pregnancy and her weight restriction. If this does not appease Pam I will take other measures, BBB, and the filing of more complaints until we are heard. I have instructed my daughter, so has her Dr. that she is not to over lift and to not push the early part of the pregnancy due to it being the sensitive time frame for all pregnancies. I would like to recieve some sort of aknowledgement of this letter at leaset being read and taken under advisement.
Thank you for your time. People should treat other people how they themselves would like to be treated.

Your daughter should not have to prove anything to them. Family Dollar is bogus and I"m glad I don"t work there anymore! And congrats to your daughter, hope she has a happy healthly pregnancy and baby!

Family Dollar # manager

I stopped in this Family Dollar in Exeter, PA this one day. I never go in there, but my friend lives over there and I was visiting her at the time. I needed lipstick cuz we were going out for awhile that night. I walk in and theres two men standing at the registers. They were literally obnoxious the way they both stopped talking simaltaneously and said hello, like so fake, like they really cared. NOT! Moving on, I couldnt find their makeup dept. and was getting annoyed at the fact that they saw me walking all over the damn place and never assisted, yet fell over saying hi when I walked in...WTF? They were too busy talking the whole time. The one guy seemed ok, the other was a complete potty mouth. I couldn't believe he would talk like that with customers in the store. The phone rang, potty mouth answered, and he started yelling at whomever and cursing, then laughing...it was nuts! After searching forever, I found the aisle I wanted, got my crap and proceeded to pay. Potty mouth waited on me while the other hovered behind. I was about level with his chest and, to my astonishment, OMG...on his nametag I see " Manager". I'm like, you so completely have to be shi**ing me?! I am still in shock and, needless to say, will not go in there again. All I can say is, really Family Dollar? These are your managers? Seriously...sickening!

You say that you went into a Family Dollar and 2 male employees were talking, stopped talking and both had said hello to you and you are complaining because 1. 2 men did NOT watch you so closely that they did not notice you searching for lip stick yet if they had been watching you like a hawk you'd be complaining that they were watching you I suppose correct? 2. Did you ask them for help? 3. Like 2 men would kno anything at all about lip sticks and colors for your face. 4. You sound like a typical PITA customer who will look for the $1.50 lip stick them whine that it is not a dollar. I hope the cheap garbage smeared all over your face.
Customer's like you make working retail a living hell. As far as they "fake" hello goes? Give me a break! At least they said hello! I've been to numerous dollar stores that do not give a crap that you are there or whether you buy anything. Here...call this number...1-800-kissmyass and ask for Mike Hunt!

Family Dollar wrongful termination/ general complaint

I was fired for being on my cellphone by a regional manager named Steve. He claims he caught me on my phone during on of his very rare visits. He told the store manager to fire me without so much as a warning. What they didn't know and didn't even ask about was the fact that I was checking on my wife who has a mental illness and was very depressed because she had been home alone all day. She has been diagnose as having bipolar and schizophrenia and she has been suicidal in the past. I didn't want to reveal this info out respect for privacy but I havnnow forced to communicate this in an effort to get my job back and/or expose bad business practices. I knew the policy, but I believe family emergencies should addressed if need be. I made a quick call to wife and diffused a bad situation. I should not have been fired. My lawyer says I have a good case if I chose to go forward with it.

I would also like to say that this store has issues. It is always dirty. I would ask if the floor needed sweeping or mopping and would be told no. The bathrooms were always nasty. Management there is constanlty sitting outside in front of the store or in back office doing nothing. They are all constantly on their cell phones or the company phones on personal business. The store manager and the former first asst manager were having an affair. I caught them kissing. The store is always a mess. Employees were taking things without paying. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone for any reason.

You can believe family emergencies trump all, doesn’t mean a rats ### to a company. You broke the policy, period, end of story it does not matter the reason behind it. Have your lawyer go forward with it, in the end when you lose, you can pay the lawyer out of your pocket, hopefully then you will realize just how much of a [censored] you really are.

Family Dollar do not buy their batteries

Do not buy Family Dollar brand batteries they are always dead with no battery life when you purchase them! I go to the Dollar Tree and the batteries are always fresh but Family Dollar batteries never are!

I called Family Dollar customer service number and all I get is the runaround when I call the store manager they act like they don't even have the authority to give you back $1.07. Talk about horrible customer service. I don't intend on wasting any of my money with them again. I will never purchase any batteries out of their store not ever duracell because they keep their batteries on the shelf way pass their shelf life just to rip you off.

Family Dollar - surveillance cameras

After I shopped at the Family Dollar Store on Glenwood Avenue in Dalton, Ga., I payed for my things at the register and walked out to my car, realizing that I left my money laying at the register. I went back in to get it and it was gone. I asked the manager to look at the surveillance camera. She said they do not have surveillance cameras anywhere in the...

Family Dollar nasty and rude employees

There were two ladies working at about 12 noon on today at the South Third Street Memphis store right near the MS state line, and they were talking to each other loudly about conflicts with church members and things that happened earlier in the week for them. One had an auburn colored afro style and the other had a piercing above her lip. Although I am a millionaire + who is an entrepreneur and owner of properties, one of the employees began to have issues about my "being in the store for too long" and she began to make sly remarks. Then she started to follow me down every aisle "straightening up" items instead of doing her job. When I asked where the apple juice was, she had an attitude about that and the girl behind the counter did not bulge to help. Instead of helping me, she called her friend on the phone and began a new conversation.. I had trouble finding a lot of items simply because the store was kind of junky, and otherwise, I would have been done sooner so I would not have to interrupt their conversations. I decided to leave my basket where it was and go to another store. The lady with the auburn colored afro hair was fed-up because she had to put the items back up, and she followed behind me to my car.

LOL! In reading this thread it does appear that Brenda was calling [censored]bags rude and nasty. Although familydollarduchebags or whatever is harsh? To be honest at least his comments are direct and about the situation not a "who's my buddy" contest. Rough...yes, but the ganging up I see on some of these threads is how the employees also works at Family Dollar! LOL! Ironic.

Family Dollar lack of concern for employees

I have submitted 2 complaints to my DM and RVP regarding how the store manager treats her employees and all the policy infractions with absolutely no feed back. I have even filed a grievance with corporate and received no response or follow up. This manager should be let go or forced into retirement. I would like to start a class action lawsuit against Family Dollar for allowing these issues to continue forcing us to work in a hostile work environment. Corporate has policies to follow regarding such alligations, and if we do not follow policy we are subject to termination. So why not them, right? If there is anyone out there who would be willing to stand up for your right to be treated as a human being and respected for the service you provide let me know on this board and I will give you a protected email to contact me. Believe me when I say this is not a trick, I am in fact an assistant manager myself and am seriously f***ing sick of being spit on by managers and corporate like we are not worthy of respect.

Family dollar is the worst company to work for in the entire world. Yes, they only care about their managers and DM's. I was recently terminated basically to protect the current manager. They could have watched the cameras to clear me all together but didn't want to clear me bc the current manager had just received a final job warning for letting a deposit sit in her car for a freaking week so I get fired to protect her. The district manager is always changing the procedures to fit her needs. Bad DM and poorly trained managers is all this company has to offer anyone.

I worked for Family Dollar for 3 years hired in as asst manager stepped down for rasing my grandbaby, hours got cut then cut some more all due to payroll cutting store managers hours. Not that Family Dollar is hurting the store I worked for was one of the many 1, 000, 000 dollar stores just in one district alone, they now how alot of managers that are in there until 3-4pm by thereselves everyday it seems like and they think this is SAFE. But the real reason I am here is because of what happened at the store I worked at DM came in done at estimated inventory where they go around count things in there head and put a figure down went and told the Manager things did not look good this was on a Wed.In which I disagree TO MANY BOXES IN BACK ROOM ALOT OF BLACK TOTES WITH PRODUCT IN THEM so she left, Manager called her Thur, and Friday was told by her DM on Friday no news is good news. So we unload truck, we go in on Sat start with freight again Manager leaves at noon. Then all h--l breaks loose Asst manager calls another store and was told they were getting ready to fire the Manager at our store. so in return he text DM and they go back and forth for a few then he(asst manger) comes to me and tells me that something bad is gonna happen. I am like dont put me in the middle of anything. So the phone rings and he brings me the store phone and says he wants me to answer it I do and I have never in my life been talked to so consending, demading manner that came from her and through her lips(DM) I was TOLD (now take it I am the cashier not the asst manager) tofind the manager and tell her to get to her store now she was on her way(DM) to this other store to straighten all this ### out. and she would be at our store as soon as possible.I said ok. God dont like ugly and she had no reason to talk to me the way she did never once apolgized she called back about 10 minutes later I was again given the phone I answered it and the DM said did you find the manager I said nomam. She proceeds to tell me in the same cosending manner ITS NOT YOUR JOB TO FIND HER I WILL. I should have never been asked to find the manager in the first place so I clock out at my time to get off work.and when I clocked out something inside me clicked and I made my mind up to never walk back in that store ever again for I will not be talked to like that. AND THE REAL KICKER was when my manager showed up to that store the DM AND THE (REPLACEMENT MANAGER WAS ALREADY IN THE STORE CLOCKED IN) so all along they knew ahead of time they were gonna fire her why BACKSTAB HER THE WAY THEY DONE I have been in managment for 6 years before ever coming to Family Dollar and I never once talked to or treated any of my employees the way I was treated Saturday. At least I know what BACKSTABBING LOOKS AND SOUNDS LIKE.Remember Family Dollar GOD DONT LIKE UGLY

Hello, I ran across this blog and was glad to see that people are trying to organize against family dollar. I live in florida and had a problem with my manager. I talked to the dm and didn't get the help I needed, I believe the dm just wanted to support the manager. So I contacted the RM and I recieved the results I desired, can't elaboate on the situation that much because I still work for family dollar and don't want to be fired. I will say though-blogs ilke this can be used to organize employees and create tactics, stratgies, to make managers treat employees better. For example say next wednesday all cashiers call in sick? And next truck day all stockers call out sick? If you understand what I mean. United we can fight back, but divided as they like to have us.. we don't have a leg to stand on. Lets hear some positive feed back on this please and I'll post some more Ideals

I worked at Family Dollar for right over 4 months. I left, because I contacted coorperate, human resouces, and my DM. Nobody would do anything. I was treated very poorly, and when I took a stand, they wanted to fire me for no reason. They put me on un-paid suspension, and they told me they will see about my complaints. That was like 2 weeks ago. Mary Smith

Family Dollar closing time and not letting one customer in and before they left they let 3 in after closing hours

My husband went to the Family Dollar Store in Clarksville Texas on 4-23-11 around 8:55 p.m. to make a few purchases and the cashier which was African American told him he could not enter the because store was closing which was fine but before he left a car that contained 3 African American girls pulled up and they WERE allowed to enter the store. My complaint is that if my husband WAS NOT ALLOWED TO GO IN AND BuY A FEW ITEMS why was the other people allowed in the store if the store was CLOSING! It is not right for them to let others in the store at closing time and them not to let my husband go in at 8:55 to buy a few items. The Family Dollar Store has lost ALL of my families business and not just the one in Clarksville Texas all of them. And that is at least one of us was in that store making purchases every day.

Family Dollar rude manager

I returned 2 sets of blinds that were the wrong size. I wanted to exchange them but they did not have the right size so I was getting a refund. The Lady helping me was doing just fine and then the Manager comes up and said a part was missing out of the opened box. I told her I did not take all of the parts out because once I found it was the wrong size there was no need to open the rest. She insisted the piece you connect to the wall was not in there. My Granddaughter and I both told her they were in the other end of the box because you could hear the screws rattle. She would not allow us to open the other end of the box. Her attitute kept getting worse until I lost my temper also and told her that I was doing just fine with the Lady that was helping me and she needed to go back to her own customers. She kept on and on with me. I am disabled and on oxygen. She told the customer she was helping that I needed to huff on that oxygen harder. I cannot believe that your store would employ someone like her. We came home and the part was in the other end of the box just as we told her. They told me the register was messed up and would not print a receipt so they wrote some kind of junk on a piece of paper and gave to me. She was rude, cussed and made a fool of herself in front of me and about 10 other customers in the store that said they could not belive how she acted. I would like for someone to contact me via email. I, my Family and Friends have shopped in your stores for many years but you better believe if this is not handled properly none of us will ever be step foot in your stores again. I have never in 60 years been treated like that in a store of any kind. Now what I am I suppose to do with these blinds that I have no legitimate receipt to?

I worked for the company for 2 years, got tired of the Bull, then left. However, you do realize that it is not the Companies fault for these rude, and badly mannered workers. If you only have a-holes apply for jobs, you could only hire a-holes. These people usually aren't looking for careers, they are not lawyers, doctors, VIP's etc. Non-professional job means non-professional behavior. Learn to go in, ignore the bull, buy your stuff, get out. And stop making fools of yourselves ### and complaining like little children who don't get their way.

Get the store number if you can or the address including street city and state and call corporate on her! That is no way to treat a customer there and a hand written receipt is unacceptable to be given out. They take customer complaints very seriously and will follow through and investigate. Hope this helps and so sorry for the abuse you took!

Family Dollar racial slang

I was in a very heated coaching encounter with my Regional Vice President and he became very angry while we were talking due to me not showing any expression. The RVP called me a "Girl" uncandidately before he knew it and was shocked at himself when I corrected him. I walked away to prevent from losing my temper. I filed a compliant with HR and they stated that my walking off was considered my resignation. I called around to speak with the HR personal, and other company members and no one answered their phones; therefore I asked the RVP where did I need to leave my car and laptop since no one would help. The company considered this a resignation and forced me to resign. I guess with Family Dollar inappropiate conduct is acceptable if you are a white male speaking down to a black female. This company needs to sell to the Trian Group and allow someone to get it right. I need a an attorney who knows FD and fast. tracy.[protected]@att.net

From the bits and pieces I have gotten out of the complaint, I agree that this situation most definately is NOT a racial issue! If a RM called a DM or SM "girl" in a heated arguement how exactly does this constitute racism?! Now she is asking for an attorney to call her? For what? I have to agree to an extent that I see some insubordination on her for a verbal fight with her RM verses calling his boss or corporate regarding their issue at hand. She did say she asked her RM where to turn in her car and laptop and had been forced into resigning due to walking off. THAT is considered resigning in most companies. Her boss is not a boyfriend to just bicker with then walk off. Racial issues do unfortunately sometimes come into play, but to use this as a "racial suit" is irrational and will go nowhere. He may be an ###. Most RM's tend to be with their employees or are disliked by them, but seriously? RACISM? Nope!

If you had a car, laptop, oh..you forgot to add a cell phone a ###ing company credit card ALL paid for by Family Dollar, you were obviously an overpaid District Manager who got lippy with your Regional Manager. So he called you "girl"? WTF? You know as well as I do that that was NOT a racist comment. He should've said "listen here you ignorant ###!" He WAS your boss! Glad there's a new job opening in upper management you [censored]!

Family Dollar rude employee and store manager

I went shopping at Family Dollar today and will never step foot back in the door of one of their stores! My son went to the cashier and asked if she could give him a price for a tube of toothpaste that was sitting in a cart full of items, that I thought might have been reduced. Upon waiting for him to return, I overheard the cashier say" no, I am busy tring to take care of these customers, the price is over their so go look for yourself, because I know what you are trying to do!" So, I approached the cashier and said " hey, this is my son and you have no business talking to him like that!" At this point she comes out from behind the counter and starts yelling and cursing telling me to get my purse and leave the store, she knows what we were doing, that everything is caught on videotape, shes gonna call the police and have me arrested and that I should be ashamed of myself!" I replied, " thats fine but I will contact the corporate office!" Now the manager was standing behind her and observed the whole confrontation! I left the store and called to speak with the manager and when I asked what I needed to do to file a complaint, he responded by saying " I guess you need to contact the district manager" he says, would you like that number and I said Yes, He says, well call me back in a little bit and I will give it to you! Now what level of customer service is that, comiing from the cashier and the manager?

If you have proof hire an attorney then sue him & the company for sexual harassment. If you reported it to the company & you have proof (certified letter/e-mail etc) and they've done nothing to address it then they are just as liable as the actor.

Family Dollar vacation tim

ive been working for family dollar for a year & a half & still have not received any vacation time. i was told that i wont get it til ive been assistant manager for a year but ive looked all through the handbook & there is nothing in there that says that. what i read says the first day a team member reports to work is his/ her official anniversary date. this anniversary date is used to compute the following benefits: vacation grant, tenure/service awards, 401(k) vesting. how does that make sense. im getting screwed out of a vacation just because they dont wanna giv it to me.

Family Dollar extremely rude employees

Everytime I go into this store, their employee named Eileen is very rude with customers, including myselft. She was screaming at a customer & not letting her speak because she opened a perfume bottle before decided if she wanted it. She yells in an extremely feisty tone. On another occasion, she noticed her coworker trying to explain something to a hispanic woman & when the coworker mentioned 'money', Eileen says to me, "Yeah that she understands, but nothing else"; on another she yelled at me because since I was next, I pushed the cart that was infront of me, out so I can go up to the cashier, & saying Mrs. you can't be moving carts left & right. I'll get to you when I get to you. Then she stepped out from behind the counter, to put carts, & wagons back in their places. I went to the next register, while the customer behind me she complained to about me. I called the manager, Beatrice, I believe & complained. I don't think she did anything because Eileen is still there. She doesn't deserve her job with that type of behavior. At this point, I'm extremely angry and do not wish to spend my money there anymore. Her presence is very unpleaseant.

Family Dollar worst place to work

I used to love working for Family Dollar, but lately it's been hell. They expect a ton of work in so little time and so under staffed. In one day they expect you to hang new signage, stock a couple thousand items, sweep, mop, keep a close eye on the register, ring customers up, organize the back room, stock the over stock, count your draw down, clean bathrooms, empty trash cans and cardboard, and then recover the entire store (100% recovery means every items in place, faced correctly, pulled forward on hooks… so on so forth.) and this is probably the average work day and you would be lucky if you have 3 employees working that day. Now on truck day, and within 48 hours, they want all the freight from your truck put away. They don’t care if it was 200 cases or 2000 cases; you have 48 hours to put it all on the shelves while you still have an endless list of other stuff to complete. And don’t get me started about store managers and assistant managers, store managers are forced to work a minimum of 52 hours a week on maybe $600 a week salary, but if the stores falling behind then the store manager would be forced to put in 100+ hours on the same $600 a week salary. Believe me, when I first started as an associate my store manager had no assistants and had to put in 107 hours a week until he found an assistant. Now when I was promoted to assistant, they made me responsible for all the money and to make sure everyone was doing their part. I know it don’t sound like much, but when something didn’t go right it was my fault, I was virtually a store manager on $9 an hour salary. Every week it gets more and more ridicules, they keep cutting our hours that everyone can work and then they add more task to be completed. So in the end it’s always less hours and more crap to do: family dollar employees are only ###ing human!

I should also add that, as an assistant manager, if the district manager did a walk thru and didn't like something it was my fault just because the store manager wasn't there. Their view point on what an assistant manager is considered and what the position entitles is simply a joke. An assistant is an hourly store manager on a fraction of a store manager’s salary. If you have another job or just simply a college student like myself, then you’re screw because it’s high unlikely they’ll be flexible with your schedule. Because in their eyes you should live, breathe, and sleep family dollar.

Family Dollar is easily the most mind numbing and soul crushing place to work. Luckily, I escaped the hell that is low budget retail. As previously stated Family Dollar epitomizes poor management. They pride themselves in taking care of their customers while stabbing their employees in the back. I'm actually quite tempted to write an article on them and see if the local newspaper will run it. People need to be more aware of the way low budget retail really works. Often I would leave work so discouraged and fatigued only to get [censor]ed at the next day for not doing enough, not being perfect enough. However, when a human ### on our floor, or when our back room was infested with rodents, I dealt with it- not our DM. Also, the clientel leave something to be desired. For a job that offered no benefits, no time and a half (even on holidays), no compliments or praise, no discounts, no vacation, and no job perks, they sure expect a lot. I can see a documentary being made about Family Dollar much like the one on Wal Mart...it's only a matter of time!

I am an assistant manager at a Family Dollar and although you have "issues" about a specific employee, most customers are rude overbearing tight wads who walk in barking about where everything on their list is as we are attempting to ring up other customers. This company treats all of their employees like crap and we all are very underpaid. By the way, you pushing a shopping cart out of the way as you say it was more than likely you shoving out of anger to get your stuff on the counter before the next costomer had their items off. Their prices are cheap because they only work 2 employees at one shift period and you being an overbearing ### only makes our jobs even harder! Why don't you try to support your family on 8 bucks an hour and work all holidays? You are a typical descrental shopper who feels you can treat a retail employee any way you want to because we are on the clock. I hope you run into that woman you filed a complaint about off of the clock. You could have hurt someone shoving carts due to the small isles. You sound like one of our "alert" customers that we dread that goes through damaging products then demanding a discount. Do you realize how many ### like you we deal with on a daily basis and with NO BREAKS! Why don't you try that you old bag?!

My manager makes her assistants do the night shifts and she gets to do days and pick her days off. Ive been there over 2years and she just now started doing her 2 nights a week but after half way following policy she hears what someone else is doing and tells us shes going to do the same and will only be doing one night a week and one surveleince. Policy is managers do one week night and one weekend night. I dont know of any Family Dollar stores that the manager does. I read all these complaints and realize its not just my manager who treats some of her employees unfair.
