False accusations

This is not a Complaint against RW Hertel & Sons. This is a notice to let everyone know that there have been slanderous and FALSE accusations made against the company and the owners. The man responsible for ALL of these postings online and in the press is satisfying a personal agenda against this company. There are numerous lawsuits against him. Unfortunately he can write anything he wants online. So instead of believing his rhetoric, do your own investigation. Talk to actual homeowners. You will hear a completely different point of view.

Interesting, I took your advise and spoke to some of the current owners and two former owners of Hertel homes, they confirm the homes have major leaks and Mold. Also the Courts show Hertel has many and I mean Many Law Suits for defects State Wide. Including the Mallardgreen settlement. I also found many News stories all over the State of Hertel's poor building. I also see the State is investigating them again for Poor building and many defects. As was noted in the Courts it was RW Hertel who Sued his own buyer's to conceal the defects and Mold and he has lost that case and now the builder is being sued for FRAUD. So your correct in checking the facts the Builder is a Fraud and Con man.

Have you actually done your homework? Or did you just read the blogs? If you did research you would know that hertel did not sue a homeowner to cover up his building issues, but because the man was going to the press making slanderous accusations. Just like the ones you have read online. Do you think that the owners are actually responsible for the physical building of these homes? No they are not. If anything they are only at fault for hiring the wrong employees or sub-contractors. I understand that people get angry when their home has problems. I am a homeowner who spent my hard earned money. And I expect that the builder of my home should be held responsible for any major defect. Which Hertel did. I would never set out on a quest to ruin the owners lives and reputations, which is what is happening here. It has turned into mob mentality against these two men and it is wrong. I know someone who is close to the company and everyone knows that this guy is out to get them. I can not divulge my identity or his for fear of retaliation. However when all of the legal dust settles I am confident that he will be shown as the real fraud and crook. The homowners with leaks had a very legitimate reason to want repairs. Their roofs were not only repaired but totally replaced, not just the leaky roofs but the entire project. Why did it take so long? Hertel did an investigation and found that the roofer (local Company) cut corners. Why wasn't it caught in inspection? Who knows ask the county inspector. As for all of the other personal accusations against these two men...who cares we all have skeletons in our closets and really they are none of anyones business. Would you want your dirt all over the internet? Look up litigation involving any other builder Pardee, Regis, Centex (look at Dove Creek in Atascadero CA) there are numerous lawsuits against all of them. If you don't like Hertel don't but one of their homes, but don't try to ruin the poor men!

Wow, well I did check the records, all public and Hertel is a well known Con Builder with a very shoddy background and poor builder as the CSLB has now placed on the WEB as such and the City of SLO employee confirms Hertel has been a bad apple in all of the projects, Mallardgreen, islay Pointe, Rancho Obispo, Williows, Arbors and Spanish Oaks so you can try defending them but the records all speak volumes of a dishonest and inept builder.

You really expect anyone to believe that YOU know 3 ex-supers of Hertel and that YOU have met with a PI and that YOU have all of this top secret info and that YOU know all of the higher ups in the city....Well I don't believe a word of it anyone who does needs to do their own research ( including 920 KVEC Dave Congalton's blog, read most recent entries). Then they will have a clear picture of what and who is posting ALL of this negative (and FALSE) info regarding Hertel. If they read the most recent entries they will see that there is a single man behind 99% of this. Yes, he had people believing his lies for a while, but the truth is coming out-he is being seen for what he is-a liar.

If you believe me, fine. If you don't, that's ok too. I am a previous employee of RW Hertel & Sons, Inc. who can, with no doubt, assure you this company hires the poorest quality building subcontractors to build homes. Their problem all along? Greed. Plain and simple. Spend as little as possible to build a home and charge as much as you can for it. Unfortunately, it's come back to bite them in the ass because I guarantee you, they are paying way more to repair problem homes than they would had they hired respectable subcontractors to begin with.

Nearly every home in the following developments had or still have issues with mold, leaks, windows, and roofs, not to mention several other misc. issues. The two developments in Elk Grove have a SB800 lawsuit pending. Please note: The developments listed are in the Northern California region and do not include the several Southern California developments with issues.

And if your comment is going to be "they didn't build the home themselves, they have others build them who did poor work". This is true. But why would you continue using the same cheap, poor quality subcontractors time after time? To save money of course. More for yourself right?

I really can't believe what I am reading here. I worked for Hertel a few years back and found the Company to be of the highest standards. I have fellow friends that worked for KB Homes and others that when I compared notes there building techniques were way below Hertels. I am just watching this from out of state where I am working for a world wide Contractor and cannot believe the ignorance and money hungry mob mentality.

RW Hertel may have problems in his past, but he put these projects together and pushed through innovative and quality projects in SLO, a very difficult slow growth County. Thats why the Houses there are worth so much. My experience is that people have problems and then the California mentality of cashing in somehow, comes to play.

When ever a House is built, things rarely go smoothly. It takes good people to steer any construction in the right direction. Hertel's Houses are very different from "The norm". Anyone who owns one knows that, the rooms are bigger, every conceivable new technology and amenity are included, but they use moderate appliances and standard tile feathers unless owners pay for more. On one project they included a Balcony off the Master Bedroom to take in a great view, but the roofing technique on the balcony failed in a few homes, is that shoddy building, not by a longshot. What happened after was that the roof/floor application was studied and corrected. In todays world there can almost be no sub-standard building. Builders use concrete, standard wood, newer siding, standard sheetrock and lots of different roofing systems. If a roofing subcontractor uses a cheaper paper, which is the foundation of all roofs then there might be problems down the line. But lying or making up stories about whose fault it is doesn't help at all, its counter productive.

I would think that all these unhappy owners would want to just resolve any issues and move on. By badmouthing and slandering Hertel, you devalue your own home, falsely.
How stupid is that. Well the only reason for it is that people think they can get paid off.
The postings I have seen about Hertel so far by one or two people are ludicrous, this bozo has insulted all the Hispanic workers and gone so far as to call company people child molesters. I would be very leary of anybody of extreme prejudice, this guy is a criminal or crazy.
I pull no punches when I say you owners are absolutely stupid to jump Hertel and try to badmouth this Company into submission, by blindly following and accepting some idiots personal vendetta against this Company, you are hurting yourselves. If you sue anyone, and lets face it you Cali's are sue happy, you should sue this guy that who's actions devalue your homes. Or you can all go crazy and I will return to SLO and buy one of your homes for cheap, I'll get a good buy.

I disagree the charges against RW Hertel are in fact correct, his homes not only leak but he after three years fixed my friend who still lives in her home in Rancho Obispo , the rains came today and massive leaks.

I called the State CSLB who has been investigating them for wrong doing and guess what ? RW Hertel & Sons, license 683494 in NO LONGER VALID they do not even have a valid or good standing license with the state any more. Then i was told they are now trying to wine business. The wine company is VERDOT, LP making 5 Mile Bridge wine. I would make sure it is NOT poison first if they can NOT build homes in accordance with the law what makes you think they can make wine safely.

It is unfortuneate that nothing on this web site has to be true to be blogged! As with all of the opinions and information on the internet MUCH of it is FALSE and FABRICATED! Many people use these blogs to satisfy a personal agenda against companies and people. Which is the case with RW HERTEL. They are being attacked by a man who was an unhappy homeowner. He has gotten a few others to jump on his bandwagon in search of money from the builder. He poses as different people on these blogs and writes stories about the owners of this company. He takes pieces of public information and creates stories from them. He is very tricky and manipulative and will stop at nothing to ruin the name of this company. He has been involved in NUMEROUS scandals! The truth is, yes the project in SLO had a few homes that had issues with the roof flashing and they leaked. The company not only replaced to leaking roofs but the entire project. There have been NO LEAKS since! I know this for a fact! No matter what this guy or his made up blogs say! Another point is that there are multiple lawsuits against this company. What construction company doesn't have lawsuits. Do reasearch on other builders. You will find that all of them have suits against them. Because there are people who see deep pockets and a potential to get easy money from the big bad builder. It is very sad and frustrating to watch somone spread all of these lies all over for the public to read. My point is this, none of these sites should determine anyones opinion or decesion about buying a home by the builder RW HERTEL. They are a victim of slander by a few people. I am sure there will be many resopses to this entry, I expect them to spew thier rhetoric about all of the lawsuits and CSLB... ect. But to anyone who is just a normal reader...please take what i have written into consideration. Thank You!

This Hertel is in deed a con man and rip off of homes and loans, i read now he is in default on over $ 4,000.000.00 Loan #405095 for Diablo Grande up in Patterson, CA and is now in the wine business called VERDOT, LLC dba 5 Mile Bridge Wines.

He is also now trying to be a " Remodel " company at 1549 Doak Blvd. in Ripon, CA he has over 100 complaints and a dozen law suits and well over $ 1,000,000.00 in Liens so he does NOT pay his bills.

RW Hertel and Sons a name associated with fraud and defective homes. State wide so bad even the CSLB had to issued a National Press Release on how bad and cheap he is. Call any city official where they build or call his insurance bonding company they all say the same things Hertel is trouble and can NOT built a home to code.

Problem is Hertel is a cheap lying crook dope head and liar, he can not build a decent home they all leak. He fails to pay his bills just ask Service Master who Hertel hired to get rid of mold Hertel never paid them. Even Hertel's own employee Scott Bales who supervised the mold job said Hertel is a very poor builder so WE are not crying but hertel will be.

This man has done nothing but cheat, lie, con, steal and defraud, now look at all those banks, hard money loaners, investors, home owners that have been scammed and cheated. As now the State has revoked his license for failure to pay judgments, and many major defaults and he is out of business and facing more investigations and his partners in jail for tax fraud and his friend and partner Richard D Willrodt arrested for child porn and lewd acts on a minor boy. This guy is pure wicked and evil jail is too good for him.
