Charges $54.95, never authorized!

On August 10, 2007 my checking account was debited for $54.95 from some business called Ever Private Card Services. I have never heard of this company nor did I authorize this transaction. This caused my account to be overdrawn and for some of my checks to be returned. I just returned from my bank and after considerable discussions, I did get my account credited, the bank fees reversed and I also closed my account. How are these people getting my information? I just opened this account in July. I did learn that the bank that received this information is called T Bank in Dallas Texas. The routing number is 1111024975. Can't the authorities stop this fraudulent activity?
