So this is my experience with Evans Halshaw Ford Main dealer in Preston.

I bought a second hand Ford Mondeo in May 2009. When I picked it up I noticed that the stereo was faulty and it was eating CDs. I rang the salesman and he said to fetch it in and they would swap it on the spot for a replacement. So I made the 30 min drive over to Preston and went to the service desk where I was told they would send it away for repairs which would take a few weeks. This was no good as I was going on holiday to Somerset in the car the following week. If they had told me this on the phone I would have been saved a morning messing around. So I agreed to take it into Evans Halshaw Blackburn when I got back (as this is nearest).

I took it in on sat 15th August. They removed the stereo and rang me 5 weeks later to say that they couldnt have it repaired as the radio was a German one. I rang the salesman up in Preston who said he would pick it up and have it repaired locally. So I waited. And I waited. November came around and I rang up to find the salesman had left and no one knows where my radio was. Great news

Eventually, via ford Direct, my radio was tracked down and was still waiting for repair. So I waited again. I got a call around mid December explaining that it was ready to pick up. Unfortunately I couldnt get over due to the snow. I eventually got over there in mid Jan. Then the fun started.

The sales manager who I was dealing with was out, despite promising to be there when I came. I waited for a bit until he eventually turned up and handed over the cd/sat nav unit which was wrapped in cling film. I responded with great but it would be better in the car really how unprofessional is that. Even better. The salesman says drag your car around and I will fit it. I brought the car around just for the man to decide that he cant fit it! So it had to be sent into the garage. 20 mins later.. It was fitted but bad news. No stereo code as the computers where down.

I waited again for another 40 minutes where I met another very angry customer having similar issues. By this time I was getting a bit fed up, so I decided to go and see him, to suggest he should ring me with the code when the computers are back up. So I ended up going home with a radio that I have waited 6 months for, and still its not working.

Sat at home I started thinking what about the handbook. Codes are normally in there. So I go and check my handbook and whoopee there it was. should the salesman not have known this. Bob the code in and guess what. It worked. Nice one, problems were finally over.

Or were they? The Sat nav CD was Jammed in the CD when I sent it in so you would expect it to be there wouldnt you ? Yeah you guessed it, it was gone! costs £100 to replace. I remembered seeing a notice in the Dealers saying if your not totally satisfied to speak to the Branch principle. So I rang him and left 3 messages for him over 3 days No Reply. So I rang ford Direct and they put me through to him. He obviously had more time for them !. I explained the issue and he promised to replace the CD.

Now its MAY the 18th. No CD, and no interest. I got rang by a salesman, to pass the code on after I spoke to ford Direct. He must have remembered. Better late than never eh. Not only has the dealer let me down but so has the principle. I have a 2 year Extended warranty on this car which cost £200.

You can bet that its never going back to that garage and although its a great car the Dealer has let me down that much I wont buy Ford again.

I brought my car to Evans halslaw at Horsforth for health check. I believe they deliberately amazed my car intentionally. Front CV joint gaiters damaged deliberately to create repair work for themselves. I will never ever buy a car from these people or take my car to be repaired, by these people ever again !

I saw a fiesta 16 plate on auto trader website from Evans halshall Preston. I rang the branch to confirm the price £9610 & that the car was still available, which it was. I gave them my cars reg so they could get a part ex price for me on my trade in. So me and the mrs drive 50 mins to Preston to buy her a car. On arriving at the dealership we find the car right outside the sales office door with a price of £9610 on the windscreen. "They must have got it out for us I thought". Yeah right, read on... So out comes the clueless salesman, my wife asks how come this car is so cheap as others were £11200. I don't know he says maybe it's petrol or diesel. What else would it be I thought. As he scratched his head and kept asking himself is it petrol or diesel. I opened the petrol cap to show him it says diesel mate. He then looks at my car and takes some pictures & we head for the office. He then says the car is priced wrong and should be £11200, but he will let us have it for £10990 ?. First question do I want a loan. I said no I want to pay the difference in cash. Do you want alloy wheel cover. No I said I want to know how much my car is worth. He said I'm not telling you, because you don't want to do any deals. Then we see another car priced £9610, I said can we have that one. No it's priced wrong again he said. Very funny how the cars that were miss priced were under cover & right next to the office on a rainy day. We left with no apology. What a bunch of clowns. Is this legal I wonder.. Pictures available..

These are the worst and most incompetent staff I have ever the pain of having to experience. The car was advertised at one price on Auto trader then when l finally got them to transfer the car to Birmingham Aston branch from Milton Keynes after a number of phone calls it had gone up in price by £200, on top of that they hide the log book after buying the car which was advertised with just having one previous owner, when the log book arrived it we find that there was 7 previous owners .Unfortunately as l didn't save the screen shot was unable to prove this point . Like others have stated when they say they are going to do the work / repairs to car they do not . I had to take the car to an independent garage and bring the invoices into E. H to reimburse me as they stated they repaired a tracking and wheel bearing issues when they had not .The argument was that they would take deal with the relatively minor paint work issues when l agreed to purchase the car, three weeks later after they have had the car back on four occasions they still have not done this work. Despite stating that l would tax the car they did this causing me to loose a months tax, stated that this would be repaid on six occasion, more excuses still three weeks later as to why they have not refunded me. Too many other issues that have made dealing with them that I will never repeat. The only reason that l didn't return the car is that it's a Christmas / 50 th present for my wife who has always wanted a 280 Mercedes CLK convertible and it is in her favourite colour being red and the right interior, etc. Given the scarcity of them in that colour and the car its self being a great drive l have stuck it out with dealing in they're totally irritating lack of communication and inept customer service, had she not been particular about the colour my £8000 would have been spent else where.

I have tried to put a complaint in about him but getting no where from head office can anyone help. he has done nothing that he said he would a team member by the way the car was build in 2013 but still paid 2015 price and he said its a new car

Brought my Zafira in July and my problems started. Air vent blade missing, wipers blades needing changing. Took them a week to replace them. Told them the car was not cleaned very well and if I employed the valeters then they would be sacked. Excuse, they don't employ them. A few weeks later a rattling noise coming from the the drivers side window. Sales said it was the motor and they will replace it, booked it in to be repaired and for the free valet. When i took the car in phone call 4hrs later my car is ready. Sales man said it was a loose pipe. Took the car down the road problem still there. Took the car home in disguss and a few days later went back to tell them no work was carried out on my car and that they had in fact told me lies. They agreed and that they would order the parts and would arrange for the repairs and valet to be carried out. The big day arrived with not much hope, had the car for 3 days and yes the repairs were carried out but no valet. After venting my frustration 1st at customer care and then thee Lincoln branch we come to an arrangement that I will be reimbursed the cost of a private to the sum of £50. One week later i can see another battle on the horizon in getting my money back. Would i recommend Evans halshaw 100% not

My wife and I purchased a VW Beetle from Evans Halshaw in Stourbridge last summer at the end of my wife's maternity leave, we needed a safe/reliable car for my wife to commute to work and take our son to/from nursery. After finding a car that appeared to tick the boxes (low mileage, reasonable price - after a bit of haggling, reasonable specification) we went to see the dealership.
Car was average condition for paintwork, with the usual scratches and touch up jobs on the paintwork. I noticed that there was some white scumming on the oil cap, on asking if the car would have an oil change, the dealership flatly refused saying that it wasn't due as per the service book, it wasn't warranted. “Only items that are due for replacement or service will be covered”. I had heard, but couldn't personally find evidence to submit, that VW had changed their policy on timing belt changes. The new policy was 60k mileage or every 4 years, in this case it was due for 4 years or more replacement. I asked the dealer to check, who confirmed that they did not recognise this requirement. Funny, as every other garage and small independent that I have spoken to since have said it was, and one even showed me the workshop software used saying there was no way it could have been misinterpreted.
Despite this, and having connections in the motor parts trade, we purchased the car for cash. I can do some things myself and have a great local garage for the more complicated jobs. There was absolutely no discussion on price, non-negotiable. A car sales company that doesn't do deals on cars...
On the day of collection I noticed that the oil filler cap was clean, so to my error assumed they had changed the oil. No, realising that it didn't look right, I can only assume by the evidence in hand that they just covered it up by cleaning the cap. After a visit to my local garage, I was informed the oil was so old, I was told that it had gone "all soapy" and had to have the engine de-gunked from within.
Now you might ask why would you buy the car if you weren’t happy? Knowing that the car was sold with a warranty, I wasn't overly concerned, given the assurances on after care, I felt comfortable that we would have any major issues covered. Well, one week into driving the car the passenger window would disappear into the door. Its okay I thought, it's covered. So we called the dealership, initially they claimed that my wife had test driven the car and appeared happy with the windows. Firstly, they became faulty once the car became ours and secondly, my wife was bemused as to why she’d test drive windows. I had assurances on several occasions that someone from the service department would call back. They didn't. We entered winter, were both busy with our first baby and got fed up trying to chase something we were entitled to, so left it.
So to top it all off, on servicing the car (as EH wouldn't), our local garage who ARE thorough, called to say that the spare tyre had a huge nail in it and was unusable. Good job my wife didn't have a breakdown with my son in the car! I refuse to believe that a garage that makes claims to safety check cars before sale, would have missed and not known of such a problem.
This all happened last summer. Why the delay in writing this review? I just found out that following the purchase, as my wife HADN'T left a review. The sale guy who sold us the car had phoned and was quite disgruntled why she hadn't left a review! She had told him she was surprised he’d want her review. She has worked for leading car dealerships in the past and was amazed that any dealership would treat customers in this way. I think the above speaks for itself. I am sure that EH have happy customers, we aren't. I didn't expect this behaviour from a company the size of EH, needless to say, we won't be using them again.

Bought (runabout) from the 17 feb 2015. It was back in the garage the next day tracking was mikes out. A week later the engine management light came on and problem with the breaks and a water leak from the expansion tank. Was told all was fixed now a week later engine management light is back on same problem. This time they want to go halves with me £210. To put it right. My advice to anyone buying a car from them is don't do it a very shady run business only after your money aftersales service is horrendous stay away.

Very much the same from my dealings with them! Firstly I do not think this is the fault of Evans Halshaw Newport but the online booking team. I arranged through them to have my car picked up 9-11am on a Friday...taking the day off work to do so. At 11am they had not arrived so I rang the Evans Halshaw booking team. They for some reason couldn't find my record on the system and didn't know which branch I'd been booked into. This should have rang alarm bells that they didn't have a record on the system but I presumed it would have been transferred to the dealership by this point. They then transferred me to a branch over 50 miles away from Newport...when he asked specifically where I'm located. They then transferred me round their internal phone lines for 10 minutes till we worked out I was put through to the wrong branch. I gave up at this point and booked with Halfords! I emailed the online booking team twice (who responded to all my emails promptly before this incident)for the complaints number/email and I heard nothing from them. I now enter my complaint daily into their online system...still no response. Incompetent time wasters!

Don't even think about having a free health check with them...it will cost you £500 to replace perfectly serviceable parts and say you car is unroadworthy.

I bought a used zafira from Leeds Evans halshaw! Just after the 6 weeks the cam belt needed replacing, then the thermostat mount, followed by radiator, battery, muffler exhaust box, engine, tracker rod, cat converter and flexi pipe and sensor. I've not even had the car a year and so far I've paid £700 more fixing it than I paid for it, baring in mind that I expected a decent car from a dealer at £1700 rather than usual £500. I have been disgusted in the response from Evans halshaw I have phoned and they told me someone would ring me but I've heard nothing! I rang again was told the same guy would ring me as he has been on leave, again nothing! I then rang again and was told he will call me that same day, surprise surprise nothing again! I would not recommend them to anyone they are cowboys and should be put out of business...

I wouldn't recommend them. I paid £100 deposit for a car to be brought to me to view. It was a rust bucket and the engine light was on. Trying to see if I can get my £100 back, as I think trying to sell a car with the engine warning light on is unfair and not professional.

I went to look for a car at there dealership in Cheltenham, I was approached by a salesman asking what type of car I was looking for? I informed him I was after a bmw m3 convertible and gave him the colour, spec and allother relevant information...the spec was silver, black leather with the full comms pack... i then left a 250.00 cash deposit to show I was serious about the purchase, but i gave them one week to source the car I wanted and left the showroom...two days later I get call back ( hello the salesman says im ringing about the car you asked us to source, we have found one he tells me but it's red with cream leather) I reminded him that it had to be silver with black leather...oops was his reply... they then ring me back a week later to tell me they have got a gold colured one with brown leather...not what im looking for I tell him again...
I then go back to the dealers ten days later as they had no success getting what I
Wanted to get my deposit...so I go over to the salesman who took my deposit and tell him
I have come to get my deposit, he asks me to take a seat so he can go and try and get my money. Try? I asked him...what do you mean try? Five minutes later he comes back and informs that he will ask the accounts department to raise a invoice which then goes to head office so it can be signed off and I SHOULD get my money back within four to five weeks... I dont think so...I politely reminded him that he took the cash and I expect cash back...then the salesmanager comes out to join conversation and I politely tell him to go away and mind his own business...after 10 minutes of me arguing at the top of my voice with customers around I finally got my money...I then made a point of walking around the showroom inside and out and told people to be careful of this lying, devious so called car dealers...a disgraceful company with no ethics at all.

I have bought many cars my last being a juke from Sunderland branch, I could not fault them, however realising 2 yr down line it wasn't what I needed decided go in to my local at Blaydon, could not believe I was left to sit on my own at the sales lads desk for 45 mins while he said he fixed a printer, he had not even introduced himself, I asked about an Adam, he told me they didn't have one on site, I said I think you'll dint tgeres on over there!, any way had a test drive oh and once again left to sit for half hr! It's that bad a girl of service desk came over to talk to me, I complained to the branch manager who knows me from buying cars and said "never have I been treat like this!", he sent sales man back to see me it was obvious he had told him to sort this, he mentioned an Adam curtesy car that would be back in half hr told him to email me a pic by end if business this was a Friday well low and behold no email!, Sat I decided try Arnold Clark bought a fiesta within an hour
Totally professional, Monday came sitting waiting to pick up my new car an email comes thru from the Evans sales lad asking me to go look at the Adam!, so here's my reply - "well as you were very unprofessional and incompetent at your job! Thought best
Tell you I drive my 63 plate car home from AC in about ten mins!, sorry but never again will I step in to Blaydon EH nor recommend which I have to 6 people! Blaydon either"!

I booked to test drive a Peugeot 208 at Evans Halshaw, Mansfield and paid a £100 refundable deposit to secure the car until the test drive. About an hour later the Sales Manager phoned to say that there was a mistake and the car was already sold. I was surprised that the deposit was charged to my credit card and appeared on my statement.
Seven phone calls later I am no nearer getting a refund although they admit taking the payment. They can't trace what has happened to it and aren't prepared to refund it until they can. Each time I call they say they will find out what is happening and ring back but have never done so. The Sales Team Leader said that he was very busy with other things, (not the best line in complaints resolution I've heard). I've now handed it over to my credit card company to sort out and hope they have better service than I have had. Needless to say I would neither buy a car from them nor recommend them to anyone else.

Had a car from Cardiff Newport Rd Evans Halshaw for 6 months.
Was told the following:
1) "Do not buy vehicle assistance or break down cover as we have that for the lifetime of the vehicle for free". - Lie as when I had a steering fault in the first two months, they wouldn't pick it up and I had no breakdown cover. Which meant my undriveable car was stuck on my driveway for days whilst I argued the fact that it was unsafe to drive and they had just replaced a faulty steering column so it was their fault!
In the first four months I had no car for two weeks due to errors with it, and I had to make 20+ phone calls about my complaint.
2) Was told I have 12 months MOT - just get an email saying your car is due for MOT as only a 6 month MOT.
Overall a shocking experience they are meant to be governed by the Financial Conduct Authority and yet they do not adhere to the complaints procedure. I would never touch Evans Halshaw again.

total con merchants, i saw a astra 1.6 online, checked out drove for a short distance, though everything was ok so signed on the dotted line. got him home on the phone to the insurance gave them the number plate and they confirmed that the lovely 1.6 car i bought was actually a 1.4 car. so i was basically overpriced and miss old a car. no apology was given just bring it back they said only i live 40 miles away and i had already part exchanged my car (i was not about to take my old car back from them now after they probably have stripped it bear and replace quality parts for duds) complete waste of time do your self a favour and avoid at all cost.

Glad I've read all the complaints, I asked about a 2011 Audi they had for sale at £21, 993 as I had no px and cash I asked if there was a discount for the car, you would think they would be over the moon and make a deal, they wouldn't drop one penny and just to rub it in they called me a few days later saying they had reduced the price by £200, what they didn't say was they put UP the retail price by over £200. After my first conversation I decided NOT to buy from them, after they called me with an obvious con on the price I realised what a close shave I had for if they can't even be honest about prices then their service afterwards will be just as pants as their sales ethics. I have bought a car from another dealer, lower price same spec, my advice is to be wary of Evans H and don't rely on the usual dealer service, if they can't look after you when they are selling it should be a good indication as to their backup service. They lost an almost £22, 000 sale by their incompetance and attitude !

I didn't even get as far as buying the car! One salesman was so rude to me I had to leave! I was looking at a Mercedes c class and didn't realise that some did not come with the panoramic sunroof function and innocently said "oh it doesn't have that feature" and the salesman replied sarcastically with " well if it doesn't say it in the advert then it won't have it will it?" I paid no attention to what he had said but then when he quoted its price wrong to me, I asked is that the price it says outside and he replied with ' did YOU GUYS not hear what I just said?" I corrected him as I knew he had quoted it incorrectly, he went to check the price and came back and said I'm sorry I said the price wrong. The point is- is that how you should be selling a vehicle to a genuinely interested customer?! Loved the car too but couldn't take his condescending, rude manner.

Evans Halshaw motherwell are bad news. i am having problems with them after an over £7000 purchase (passat). The car was suppose to come with a 1 year MOT, it didst. I don't know how they forgot that before delivering the car to bridgend. The back head-rest were missing and the front passenger door handle was damaged. contacted them and have met a brick wall (no replies). sent emails but nobody have responded. i have now contacted my finance company and instructed my solicitors who said i am entitled to some compensation. if you have a home insurance/contents, it usually comes with legal support. use it... that will teach these clowns and rogues who thrive by prying on vulnerable individuals. hopefully they will close down and along with it all their scumbergs.

My wife and i saw a used focus for sale at their motherwell branch so for £100 deposit they would hold it and send it down to their altrincham branch for the change over, when we got there the boot was full of rust so we decided not to buy it, they then said theyd get it fixed so we said ok, 2 week later we get a call saying its ready, 30 minutes later another call saying the work hadnt been done because the garage would not guarentee the work because of how bad the rust was so we decided not to buy and after all the messing about decided to make a complaint but before we did we then recieed the log book for the focus which we had not bought (this is completely against the law according to the dvla). My wife then gets a phone call from them demanding the log book and was verbally bullied by there employee, then after being offered £50 compensation (just so we sent them the log book and not to the dvla) the manager of the branch phones and once again starts shouting at my wife and then puts the phone down on her. Talk about unprofessional, they made ### up after ### up and are trying to blame us when we havent even bought the car

Evans Halshaw are rip of merchants and time wasters. They advertsied cars on their wesbite and I paid a deposit. However, I then receievd a call saying head office have noticed it is an error and they are going to charge an extra £800 for the car. Funny how they are still advertising the car at the 'incorrect' price and load more crs of same spec at similar 'incorrect' prices.
I would recommend people dont waste their time with such a unch of tossers

evans halshaw are totally incompetent. I brought a 2006 bmw 320 d 2 years ago from them because they assure people that they have quality used cars...totally rubbish. Within the first year of having the car it needed 2 front tyres and a trip on me to a bmw dealer for a warning light totalling £1000 to get it through its mot and now this year same again! the turbo has now gone on the car with the mot looming this is going to cost me another £1000 bear in mind that this car is only a 2006 with 75K on the clock what the hell are they selling people!
