October 18, 2014, purchased two female dachshund puppies, born Aug 20, 2014 from above seller/breeder. One pup is doing well, the other has been found to have biological, systemic problems involving the liver and kidneys. Determining specific diagnosis will require expensive testing with no guarantee of resolution. Dr. Rebecca B. Fratello, our veterinarian, provided us with lab reports and an explanatory letter. She cites extremely high phosphorous levels, and non-conclusive results of the resting and post-prandial bile acids test, attempting to substantiate or deny existence of a suspected portosystemic shunt. She also refers to her consultation with Dr Cook at the UF Small Animal Hospital in Gainesville, who maintained there is something wrong metabolically with the dog, but the exact nature of the abnormality remains to be seen. A scan of Dr Fratello's letter is included in this complaint.
What the complaintant failed to mention was that Ms Porapat was willing to honor the contract of health guarantee signed by both parties offering to reimburse the buyer a full refund for the new puppy upon return of that puppy to her. Occassionally puppies are born with health issues which is why a contract is signed with every buyer that guarantees in the unlikely event an unhealthy puppy is sold, the buyer has the opportunity to return the puppy for a complete refund. In this case, this buyer was given a refund but refused to return the puppy. Instead they chose to publish incomplete information on the Internet in an apparent attempt to interfere with the excellent reputation Ms Porapat has built over the years with her clientele. It has always been my belief that omission of facts can be construed as telling a falsehood.
