Erie Insurance Group insurance investigation; submitted a claim back in may. been treated quite shabbily!

Claim# A00001021059
Policy # Q59-1512267
The investigation has been bull from the beginning! I have been a customer for over 10 years and this year I have had the worst case of bad luck, ever. My identity has been stolen, I have had my purse stolen twice, email accounts hacked, my bank account destroyed. I'm still not getting anywhere with that crap! My daughter is severely autistic and anything that I don't want her to touch I have to hide. I put my grandmothers jewelry in my dresser drawer for one week. An wouldn't you know with my crappie luck, someone came in to my house and stole everything of value in, what will one century be my master bedroom! I had my underwear pawed through and it was not cheap Walmart brand either! I have felt like I cannot turn my back for one minute. I feel completely violated by the perpetrators, the police department for not doing their job, the investigation, and your lawyer! It's despicable how I have been treated. I always here some bull that it's being looked into! I don't condone liars or be lied to. It's reprehensible that I have had to jump through one hoop after another. It's even more grating that nothing is getting done! At this point I don't know if I should even stay a customer of your company. I mean what happens if God forbid that I had an electrical fire or worse, your company has made it quite clear that I am not a valued customer. I supposedly am trying to get (free) money? First off I pay my insurance Incase of a mishap, I did everything by the book. An yet, somehow I am a fraud? Personally I think it's your people in your company that are false! I want this situation done with and in a timely fashion! My adjuster doesn't return phone calls and I am not kept in the loop about anything! I already figured that I am not going to see a dime, but it's not like money can replace heirlooms. So at this point I want to know if I have to worry about getting a lawyer because I'm going to be accused of insurance fraud or am I going to have a proper resolution? It's absurd that I have to even worry about such a thing! Is this really how you all treat the people that pay for your services?

Still playing hot potato. No one wants to give a real answer. I’m assuming that I am being looked at for insurance fraud. That’s how clients are treated after 14 years !

Erie Insurance Group claim

I was backing out of a space in a parking lot and was fully out and about to pull forward when another driver flew past me and threw his car into reverse and rammed me (hard)! I have six witnesses and video from the parking lot that shoes that I was pulled out of the space as he drove past me and reversed and hit me, but Erie claims that parking lot accidents have to be claimed as 50/50% responsibility. I am not happy about having to pay my deductible for an accident that I did not cause, especially since I have been with Erie for over 30 years with only one accident many, many years ago, which by the way was not my fault either. I feel I'm being railroaded with no recourse because Erie doesn't want to fight for its customers. I was supposed to receive half of my deductible back since according to them it is 50/50 yet I still have received nothing and now of course the adjuster who handled my claim cannot return an email or phone call. I am very displeased with how Erie handled my claim.

Erie Insurance Group Renters insurance claim

I submitted a loss claim back in Dec 2015, But they keep using a date that has nothing to do with when I submitted claim! They then started giving me run about it then they have a guy by the name Jeffery Peck who said he was an adjuster but I just recently found out he isnt one! The man from first time I spoke to him on phone was very rude and down right mean! He insinuated that I was lying ! When he came to my home he wouldnt look at damage to door and told me I was a liar several times! That he was going to make sure I was charged for lying! Now he has a Lawyer from Pittsburgh harassing me and all the information in the letters are inaccurate, said he called and left messages when I have no answering machine! Now the Lawyer says I refused to send papers in when I never received any! Then wants me to drive over 200 miles to see him! This whole thing has me in tears and not sure what to do! I have no way to get to Pittsburgh and way I have been treated through all this I honestly know they will just refuse claim! There is more I would like to explain but its hard to write it all down! Its gotten so bad my Agent even stopped working with them! Because my son used to have drug issues they want to automatically say he die it even though places that did have my items were shown a picture my Mr. Peck and the police and they said he was not the person who brought the items in! The police officer who was handling it was not happy when after several attempts to call him he would not return my calls so I went over his head and called his Superior to get the right claim number and have it put on file that he did not do when he was given information on the theft and shown door! The officer never once called around to any Jewelry buyers to see if my jewelry was ever brought in to be sold! I called some of the places that I could and they said they only give that information to Police! Things were brought up that has absolutely no bearing on anything and Mr. Peck had information on people who are not even a party to any of this, which to me is invasion of their privacy! The officer who came to my home for something unrelated to this claim but was the one who finally put in about the theft stood in my kitchen 3 different times and in front of another witness said that he knows my son Kyle was not the person who took the items! But because I went over his head to his Superior he wrote to Mr. Peck saying that he only filed the theft is because he wanted me to shut up and leave him alone! I am submitting the claim I put in and the letters I received by the Attorney! I go into envelope that Officer left at my door that was supposed to have my copies of my claim in it and I see he did not give me all my papers back! I know I made copies but would have to look for them! I need help please

Erie Insurance Group Claim on Total Loss

Our Ehrie experience started when my son's car was totaled by a driver insured by your company. After being completely disrespected by the adjustor as well as his supervisor, and multiple calls later we signed the title over. By the way, we were not given a rental even though the car was deemed unsafe to drive by the collision place. After we signed the title over, we were handed the check and then threatened that if the car was touched before salvage came to get it, the adjustor would cancel the check and the check would bounce. Multiple calls ensued after this threat where the adjustor actually got out of his car to "posture" up to my son when my son told the adjustor to learn to respect women after the adjustor spoke so horribly to me. The adjustor said sarcastically, "Oh I'll be sure to save your number and call you when that happens." Calls were made to the local office because not only did we sign the title to the car over but now the adjustor was threatening to cancel the settlement check. So we had nothing. No car, no money. The supervisor, Mr. Lang, was very kind and took care of the situation, after calls to other individuals at the office. I deposited the check today hoping that the adjustor has not cancelled it. Michael Scheel is the adjustor. Paul Brim is his supervisor who was just as discourteous. I am appalled by Ehrie's customer service. Michael laughed in my face when I asked if he treated all customers like us

Erie Insurance Group This company has cancelled the insurance and when we needed help, they refused to help me

I have used the services of Erie Insurance. I wasn’t satisfied with their services at all. I have paid for the insurance and thought that it was ok. But the company cancelled it and I have known about it. When the tree hit my house and I applied for the compensation, this company refused to help me. I decided that other people should be aware of their actions and it would be safe for you not to use their services.

Erie Insurance Group they are a rip off company

I have my home and cars with Eire, after ten years 20, 000 in premiums I hade a problem with car parts being stolen off one of my cars while it was in a shop for repairs, they denied my claim said it was the fault off the shop and I needed to go to small claims court and deal with it myself, then doubled my car insurance. I'm 58 and have never filed a claim before. what a rip off company if you think you have coverage with this company it is not worth the paper it is written on.

Erie Insurance Group Bogus claim reporting / bad faith

I had what I was told by my agent "excellent coverage" for my rental and home property. My policy got flopped around to another agency. Then when the city put pressure in my water line and blew out both their meter and my handle to turn off water- my sump pump was overwhelmed by the water and seized up- back flowing all that water. The city took 7 MONTHS to finally replace my meter - stalling and causing me LOSS of rent for that long. Erie adjuster (Kyle Jenkins) told me "they would take care of it" and stated it sounds like the city was negligent in handling my claim -gave me his email and asked me to send attempts to get them to come out to fix it the 7 MONTHS (including two claims filed with the city) Funny, the day I filed a claim with ERIE- I received a 'denial' letter sent regular mail dated July 30 (but postmarked August 6) from the City of Milwaukee giving me 21 days to APPEAL their denial - I immediately sent it to KYLE JENKINS of ERIE insurance - which he FAILED to address. Then Kyle Jenkins waited the 21 days and sent me a denial letter as well based on he didn't cover "water damage" - I could no longer appeal the City notice because it was too late- when I found out Kyle Jenkins was negligent in contacting the city on my behalf when they told me 'they would take care of it". I filed complaints to the Insurance Commission (which is a waste of tax payers money as they don't do a thing for the public!) - ERIE failed to address and acknowledge that I had an EXTRA policy I paid a extra premium for the would cover the damage I suffered. I also specifically told Kyle Jenkins that I was NOT filing a "water damage" claim as HE suggested when he recorded the claim and the negligence I was experiencing from the City Of Milwaukee...I didn't have any "water damage" - I had a sump pump back up from the overwhelming flow of water from the negligence of the city. (which the extra policy was for) Erie failed to CORRECT (not change - because I never filed a water damage claim) and Failed to even acknowledge to the Insurance Commission that I had a extended policy- Its been over 1 1/2 YEARS and still I am not made whole. I'm billed $800. from the city for their water meter, stuck with all kinds of loss of rent, had to throw out lawn mowers, pay the plumber to replace the turn off valve that Popped out of the pipe from the pressure the city put in my lines (not freeze damage!) and now - since the city replaced the meter they billed me an excessive amount for that meter- and installed it incorrectly - where now my turn off valve split from the weight (not from freezing) and I have to pay a plumber to fix it AGAIN> I did go to an attorney that told me that my issue is with ERIE and not with the City of Milwaukee because of their promise to "take care of it " from both my (new agent my old agent pawned me off on -kettle moraine Insurance) and did not - where I could no longer recoup any loss from the city. Erie also failed to acknowledge my extra coverage - they knew or should of known was in effect and valid for this claim, and they left me 'high and dry" without so much as a nickel pay out - and then they raised my rate over $200. to boot!.
I asked for the complete copy of my policy INCLUDING the Extra coverage 5 times- via the past 1 1/2 YEARS and was unable to obtain a complete copy via BBB, Insurance Commission or direct calls to ERIE insurance (which my attorney now needs to file a Bad Faith Settlement suit as well as the 3 other claims against ERIE. An attorney told me I'd have this problem because ERIE attorneys have a habit of 'making claims go away" by manipulating coverage statements. And another thing - that denial letter mailed by the city of Milwaukee was not mailed certified (as the law requires) - and it was mailed (postmarked) NOT from the city of Milwaukee - but from BROOKFIELD where ERIE attorney /and office is located - and mailed (postmarked) a week AFTER the letter was dated for the 21 day appeal time Erie was suppose to address. I would LOVE to post all the proof - I certainly have a lot of it...but right now I'm still waiting to even receive a copy of my policy and Extra policy from 1 1/2 YEARS ago! Recently I talked to Britney and June(June said she was "locked out of my file" - so she couldn't send my policy)

Erie Insurance Group Property Insurance

Erie insurance has been the insurance company for 2 rental properties. I luckily changed one of the properties to another insurance company when Erie would not honor a claim due to a Hurricane. They did recorded interviews with many of our tenants and contractor and after a long time of this nonsense they decided not to honor any claims, l this was the only claim that was ever filed in over 10 years of having them as an insurance company. I kept Erie insurance for 1 of the properties, but with highest deductible cause I know they will not pay out anything. They cancelled my insurance without giving me correct notice while I as out of the country. I know it is the law that I have to get proper notice. They are now saying that I owe them $100 for the leftover portion of the policy before they cancelled it. Their customer service department is condescending and anything but customer friendly. They try to act like they are doing you a favor by charging you money for providing NO Service. They are archaic and outdated because they do NOT have any online capabilities of letting people pay bills and get notified by email. I have told one relative about this and just got them to change to another company and I will continue to do this since they have decided to try to get $100 from me for absolutely no service. Never get insurance from Erie Insurance, NO Customer Service and most of the times they WILL NOT honor any claims. They expect you to pay premiums for a subscription to IMAGINARY services. Get real, provide something, for premiums, this is a joke!

Erie Insurance Group Homeowners insurance

the home owners policy is a joke. I had hail damage to my house and they denied coverage to a damaged roof. they common answer is faulty product. they took my money fine to insure this faulty product and paid for my window screens, downspouts, gutters and trees knocked down from winds and also the water that came in under my shingles, but they will not ever paid for a roof unless it has holes in it. Don't get insured with them, or drop them when you can. I went with them to save a couple of hundred dollars, but believe me it is not worth it, because they are not there when you need them

Erie Insurance Group Termination of an auto policy

To whom it may concern. After 37 years of paying auto insurance premium's and a decision to change to a more affordable company I was hit by a collection agency that Erie hired to collect on a cancelled policy. After 90 plus days of telephone calls I have decided to end the debate been and the mounting frustration, and yes, I wrote a check.

Thanks Erie for slapping me in the face on my way out. Great way to treat a customer! If anyone ever asks me for advice on Auto Insurance I will provide a less than favorable reference

Did you owe them money for the rest of the policy term?
If you did then why is it anyone fault, other than yours, that they sent it to collection?

Erie Insurance Group company service, policies, and employees disrespect and unprofessional attitudes towards the homeowners and contractors

Im a saleman for a local property restoration company who specialize in storm damage. I was asked by homeowner to handle this claim and call for a 2nd adjustment of his property damage because he felt that the insurance company didnt do a thorough inspection the first time.. So he called his insurance companies supervisor who told him no problem they would schedule it in rite away.. A couple days went by and no answer so I called the original adjuster at request of homeowner to get an answer of when we could do inspect, got no answer, I left a message and about 3 hours later got a call from the adjuster who was the most unprofessional person i ever had a conversation with in my life.. She was very rude and disrespectful to me from the get go... told me that she wasnt doing another adjustment because she felt no need to do so.. even though she admitted there was roof damage from the storm, then proceeded to hang up on me in middle of conversation! He paid his premium all those years and never made a claim and when he needed them they just turned there back on him! Worst Insurance company ever...

Erie Insurance Group Claims processing

Got hit by a driver while PARKED on a residential roadside. ERIE Insurance has placed every obstacle they can in place to keep me from getting a check. The insured has already admitted fault, there was a police report filed, there is nothing else they need. Here it is 3 weeks later and I'm still calling and listening to excuse after excuse. This company is crooked to the lowest standard. I can't believe that a company like this is still in business.

I don't even have insurance with them and I hate them. I can't imagine anyone having to deal with them after PAYING for treatment like this!

Erie Insurance Group Erie Insurance failed to do their job.

I've been with Erie Insurance for 7 years. I've never had an accident or ticket in my entire driving history, but I was told by my agent that, if I was involved in an accident, the deductible would be waived the first time.

I was at an intersection in which another driver ran a stop sign while on his cell phone and hit the front end of my car. I was pulling out of a side street, so they automatically ruled the accident my fault. I explained to the adjuster that there is a stop sign before the street I was pulling out of and requested that they send someone out to take a look. She stated that she would get back to me after speaking to the other party.

When she called back, she got my Voicemail and advised that they had "taken care of" the other driver and that I would be responsible for my deductible. She would not be sending an investigator to look at the intersection. I called back and left her a message stating that this was unacceptable and if she was unable to assist me, I would like to have her supervisor call me back.

It has been three weeks and I've heard nothing.

I will be switching insurance agencies when my policy is up. I can hardly believe that after so many years of safe driving they are unwilling to do anything to assist me. Not to mention misinforming me about the deductible being waived.

Erie Insurance Group Denial of legitimate claim

I live in a neighborhood that was hit hard in a big hail storm last year. Because of the damage, every one of my neighbors has had their roof replaced by their homeowner's insurance - except us. We are unfortunate enough to have Erie Homeowner's insurance. Even though there was obvious damage shown us by the roofing contractor, the adjustor said there wasn't enough. Now, I want you to know that homes in this subdivision are fairly close together, so it's inconceivable that ours is the only house in the whole neighborhood to be spared damage. And, as all the houses were built at approximately the same time, it's not an issue that we had newer shingles. I think that the "independent" Adjuster denied the claim to keep the Company happy. Anyway, I appealed the decision but to no avail. I just want everyone to know that Erie Insurance can't be counted on when you really need them. We have been a policy holder for many years and they certainly don't appreciate customer loyalty.

We live in a neighborhood that was hit by a big hail storm May 19 2022. Because of the damage, most of my neighbors has or is in the process of having their roof replaced by their homeowner's insurance - except us. Even though there was obvious damage shown us by the roofing contractor, the adjustor from Erie said there wasn't any hail damage. Sorta of funny that all the houses were built at approximately the same time so it not like the roofs are an issue. We appealed the decision based on a roofing inspection but she said her boss agreed with her. I called my agent and she said she was receiving calls from clients with Erie Insurance that are having issues with them. Not sure what to do next.

I had the same experience with Erie Insurance in Ohio. Eight out of nine houses next to mine (front, back, left and right) had roof replaced by other insurance companies after they submitted a claim. Erie denied my claim. Something needs to be done about this company. Lawyers please take note... class action?

I am looking for homeowners that have filed claims against Erie and have been denied in New York. The best way to defeat them is with a class action. I have a bad faith claim against them now and it is a whopper. In order to obtain punitive damages within NY you have to prove that Erie is conducting this bad faith to the general public. Anyone who would like to converse on this issue can contact me at jf10pratt@yahoo.com

I had Erie Insurance Exchange ultra cover policy and auto. I turned in a claim and of course they denied it so I sued them in small claims and won $18, 662. Of cours they appealed to circuit court in Wilson County, TN. The case # is 15301. It's public info and good info at that, if I may add. I was awarded $64, 288 for the claim and $16, 072 for Erie acting in bad faith. Of course they appealed again. I guess they don't like a good ole hillbilly whupazz! Anyhoo, they got two of them thus far. Fight these yahoos in court for your legitimate claims people. Don't take my word for it, call the circuit court in the above county and get the results for yourself. I've had fun playing with these Erie yahoos! Have A Great Day!

I had the same problem with ERIE. They do everything they can to deny claims. I have had both auto and homeowners with them for over 15 years. When the hail cam through the area, I was in the same situation with them. We are the ONLY house in the neighborhood that did not get a new roof. In fact, Erie paid several roofing "engineers" to come and dispute the claim after I disputed the claim when their adusters came out. The first adjuster saw damage. Apparently the roof must have miraculously healed itself as the second adjuster saw no damage. I showed him the damage to the chimney vents and the skylights. The reports came back with "no damage". ERIE INSURANCE SUCKS when it comes time to actually help you out. They're really good at taking your money for years and years, but when you need it most, they'll pay their "independent" adjusters to file false claim reports so they don't have to pay. Simply criminal.

Erie Insurance Group Mislead by Insurance

I bought a business that was insured by Erie. The broker made more than one mistake, including sending 3 bills to the former owner even though I called and corrected it twice. I finally recieve the invoice 2 months after I started the insurance. There was also a minimum premium involved which I was not informed of. When I continued to get little service, I canceled the policy. Erie billed me for the 6 months I had not piad for even though I got less than 30% of the insurance I had wanted. After letters, emails and phone calls to the "office of the president" they continued to tell me I was liable even though I was not told by their agent about this minimum. All insurance people I know think they can but refuse to waive this excess premium. They just stonewall me. I would NOT use Erie Insurance again and think others should look elsewhere for their insurance needs.

Erie Insurance Group home owner's policy

After 30 years of paying for home owner's insurance with Erie Insurance without a claim, we had a horrible winter with ice build up you would not believe. People all over the neighborhood have gutters down, and we do too. We filed our first claim, Erie confirmed the damage, sent a check and before the work even got started sent us a notice of cancellation of our home owner's insurance. I guess their insurance is only good as long as you do NOT file a claim.

Contact your agent. Sometimes the insurance company just wants to make sure that you have done everything you can to prevent future claims. Your agent probably has some pull with the company.

Erie Insurance Group Misled me about hospital bills

I was involved in an accident in April of 2008. The person who hit me was insured by Erie. They had me sign a release authorizing them to get all of my medical records for the accident.

They then sent me a release to sign to settle the accident. There would be two checks, one to settle the hospital lien and one that would cover my ambulance bill and a small settlement. I asked them if all medical records had been accounted for before signing the release. That was a big mistake-I should have had a lawyer involved! Now, two years later, there magically are ER doctor services that I am responsible for. Erie says that they didn't have those bills and it's not their problem. My feeling is that they settled as quickly as possible without doing due diligence to ensure that all medical bills will be covered.

I discussed filing suit with them and was told pretty much that they knew they would get the claim dismissed-when I asked how much their attorney fees would cost-it was within a few hundred dollars of the outstanding bill-I said then why don't we make a deal? The supervisor said it's not the money, it's the principle-they won't do the right thing and pay it or even part of it, because of the "principle" of it. While they say I wasn't under duress when signing the release-I did have a lien against me for thousands of dollars from the hospital-which Erie wouldn't pay until I signed their release. Not under duress? I beg to differ.

I am not asking-nor did I ever ask-for anything beyond what I deserved. My car to be fixed, my medical bills to be paid and a few lousy bucks to cover the day and a half I lost from work. Now they are giving me the runaround, the ER doc's billing department the run around and refusing to take responsibility for what they should have paid from the beginning. Shady and underhanded if you ask me-and a very convenient way for them to get out of what they owe. Simply put, they conveniently did not "know" about the bill and closed the case.

How utterly disappointed I am-lesson learned, never EVER deal with an insurance claim involving injuries without a lawyer!

That is an unfortunate situation, and Erie should reexamine the claim. It is not uncommon to have a release signed, but all bills should be paid. For future reference, whenever dealing with a hospital, request copies of every single thing they are charging. Hospitals frequently have hidden charges just because they can put them through an insurance company. If the insurance won't pay, they will transfer those to you.

Erie Insurance Group Personally Violated for dedication to Erie

I have been a loyal customer of Erie Auto and Home insurance for 15+ years, I recently added my 16 year old daughter to my policy. Prior to adding my daughter I personnely had 1 accident with my car costing Erie only $1300.00. That is One-thousand and 300 dollars. I backed into a tree stump. dumb luck.

Erie touts on their ads loyalty pays with Erie and they understand and are very affordable for thr young drivers. ALL LIES !

LIES: Erie is charging me $3255.00 for my daughters insurance ! She is driving a 5 year old KIA not a Corvette for God's sake. I AM BEING HELD HOSTAGE BY ERIE. Read on:

When I approached the agent aboout why this insult, they informed me this is Erie's policy for young drivers. I am trapped by Erie as when I go to other companies, I am not able to get insurance as they want more money than this because of my $1300.oo Please note, over the years I was tempted to go to other insurances as I coul svae money, 1 to $200.00 year. But chose not as I liked my agent and their service. Apparently, for this I am now a Hostage of ERIE and this scam.

DO NOT USE ERIE Insurance.
IF YOU ARE A YOUNG FAMILY or a family with kids who will drive within 5 years change policies NOW. YOU WILL BE SCREWED BY ERIE THE LONGER YOU STAY WITH THEM.

My car was parked in a grocery store parking lot. While parked, a woman smashed into my car along with 4 other cars. My car is totaled. My car was towed to a lot, where it still stands building up lot fees. This woman is insured by Erie Auto Insurance. She has a 2007 Toyota so I am sure she has full coverage. A rep from Erie told us that our lot fees would be covered for a week. Their rep did an appraisal of the damage and told me the value of the car. Fine...so when it came time for me to go get my car from this lot to junk it, the lot owner would not allow me to take my car. He said the insurance company did not pay him and he doesn't deal with insurance companies and he just wants his money. So we were on the phone again with Erie. The rep then told us that Erie will NOT be paying the lot fees. They claimed that since their client had a Toyota of a certain year, the car may have a malfunction and this may not be her fault. OK, fine. Someone needs to give me the value of my car. I don't care if it's Erie or Toyota. My problem is this lot fee that has been building up that Erie is unwilling to pay after they said it was covered for up to a week. When I asked the rep, well who is responsible for paying this lot fee? He then said, you are, it's your car. WHAT! I was legally parked at Price Chopper! I didn't put my car there, why should I have to pay over $300 just to get it back! I understand there is an issue with who is responsible, Erie's client or Toyota's faulty manufacturing. Why should I have to be dragged through the mud without my car! I can't drive it! I can't even take it out of the lot! This is total bull and it's not right. Now I have to get a lawyer involved.
