E-Z Rent-A-Car Don't get a flat tire! You WILL pay!

If all I could say was the customer service as horrible, that would be acceptable
for a company like E-Z Rent-A-Car – since you would not expect it. We rented a
car in Texas, in which the entire area is under construction. When we reached
our hotel we found that we had a flat tire. The nail could have been in the
tire when we rented it, we do not know. We called AAA who then changed the
tire. We called the local E-Z Rent-A-Car company to see about a replacement car
since driving around our vacation with a spare tire was not an option. The
staff at E-Z Rent-A-Car at the Dallas Airport informed us that WE were
responsible for replacing the tire with the EXACT tire to match the other
three. They also informed us that they do not exchange cars without us driving
back to the airport to return the car. We searched for 3 hours to find the
EXACT tire – which we finally found was not an in-stock item unless you go to
the dealer. The tire would cost us almost $300.00. We chose to drive back to the E-Z Rent-A-Car
to exchange cars so that we could enjoy time with our family, rather than
running all over Dallas to find a tire – as requested by the E-Z Rent-A-Car
staff at the airport.

We arrived at the airport, waited in line for 30 minutes, then we filled out
paperwork for the flat tire, presented a bid we received from a local company,
and drove away in our traded car. The car they gave us to replace the first was
horrific! I have video coverage of how the car took over 5-10 minutes of trying
to get the car into reverse because the handle was stuck and would not operate.
Then, when we attempted to accelerate, the car would hesitate, and then bolt
forward. We felt very unsafe and the entire experience was frightening. We
explained this to the E-Z Rent-A-Car staff at the airport, who then asked us to
fill out a form. We did. The only thing we received from them was a bill for
the tire! No apology. No follow up. No concern for the safety or enjoyment of
their customers. RUN AWAY. Never rent from this company.

It is a terrible thing BUT it is in the contract for any rental car that tire repair/replacement would be on you... I have been in the same situation in the past.
In addition, they are in the business of renting cars, not insuring that you have a good vacation.
It is a bad way to look at it but these are the facts.

E-Z Rent-A-Car Overcharged by 1700!

I recently rented a car from E-Z Rent-A-Car in Tampa, FL. E-Z Rent-A-Car overcharged me by more than $1700.00. Because I provided a debit card, these funds were taken from my checking account.

On March 28, 2011, I returned the vehicle to the E-Z Rent-A-Car branch in Tampa around 8:30 PM. The representative processed a Refund for the $1700.00 charge. I was told it would take 3-5 business days, before I would see the funds credited to my checking account. At the time, this charge was a huge problem for me. It put my account in the negative, because I did not plan for it. Having just moved to Tampa, I was in the process of renting an apartment and I was unable to do so easily. Still, I was very patient with them and agreed to wait.

Then, on March 31st, I did not see the refund. I called my banker from Sun Trust Bank, Jeff Martin. He checked with the corporate bank representative and they concluded there was no transaction in the Pending Queue. I was alarmed. So, my banker and I called the Manager at E-Z Rent-A-Car. We were on the phone with him for 1 hour, as he provided us with various identification numbers for the transaction, and insisted it had been posted. His excuse was that it had not yet been 3-5 business days, so the transaction was not yet viewable. I took his word and again waited.

Today is April 8th, 2011. It has been 9 business days since the refund was posted. My banker once again has concluded that there is no refund for $1700.00 in the pending queue of my account. This transaction was NOT posted. Because of this, I am unable to pay my rent for April. I have been charged a $75 late fee with my landlord. In addition, I am unable to pay other bills, for which I will be charged late fees.

Last night, on April 7th, 2011, I called the E-Z Rent-A-Car branch in Tampa. I spoke to the representative who originally processed the refund. He told me it was absolutely processed, and there must be a mistake. He promised me the Manger would call me back. It is 10:35 AM, and I have not yet heard back from anyone.

I demand they refund my money today. This is absolutely unacceptable and by far the WORST car rental experience I have ever had in my life. I am so upset, and what's worse, I feel very helpless. As a company, they are holding MY funds, illegally, and taking advantage of my good faith and trust in them.

Please rectify this situation at once. I do not want to hear that it will be another 3-5 business days. I want these funds in my account TODAY. If I need to, I will go to the physical E-Z Rent-A-Car branch and pick up cash! If I do not hear back from you with my requested solution, I will have no other choice than to file a claim with whatever small business organization I have to, including a fraud claim with my bank, because this IS a fraudulent charge. Please find it within yourselves to do the right and decent thing, to honor your word, and to fix a situation which has gone out of control by mismanagement and false promises, inconveniencing one of YOUR customers, and make this right.

E-Z Rent-A-Car Avoid them

Rented a Sonata with almost 29, 000 miles on it for 3 days from E-Z Rent-A-Car, 5124 Cypress Street, Tampa, Fl 33607. When I started driving the car it was somewhat noisy and I thought it had a flat tire or a hole in the muffler. I stopped at an empty parking lot near the entrance to the freeway to check the tires and they seemed to have plenty of air and so I started driving to Dade City, Florida. The closer I got to my destination, the louder the car became. I knew it was not the motor because it did not make a noise when the car was just idling. When I got to Dade City, I immediately called E-Z Rent-A-Car to let them know the car had some type of mechanical defect. I explained to Kevin what was going on and he told me to bring the car back as Sonatas were known to be noisy cars and theyd give me a different car. I explained that I had plans for Saturday evening, would now have to use my mothers vehicle, but I would bring the car back Sunday AM.

The next morning, I returned the car to E-Z Rent-A-Car. The car was checked in and I explained to the young man what the problem was. When the young man checked the Sonata, there was absolutely no damage to the car. In fact, the young man told me to talk to the manager when I returned the second rental car in two days and I might get a discount for the inconvenience of having to return the Sonata and switch out the cars.

Several days later I checked my cell phone which had not been working well and found a message from Darrell the manager of E-Z Rent-A-Car. Darrell told me there was damage to the front rim of the Sonata and the matter had been turned over to Risk Management Services. I explained to E-Z Rent-a-Car that what ever was wrong with the car was the result of previous drivers and that is why it was so noisy when I was driving it. Darrell told me they would be checking with the previous renter but all they would do is to research the problem was to ask a survey question as to whether the previous renter had experienced any problems.

I returned the Sonata in the same condition as when I rented it. There were no damages noted when I returned it and the young man who checked the car in did not note any damages when he checked the car prior to exchanging it for another rental car. Any defect that the car had was present when I rented it. E-Z Rent-a-Car has even forged the Sonata's original check-out invoice to make it look like it was the cars check-in invoice and marked damages to the rim! If there had indeed been damages to the Sonata when I returned it, there is no way they would have rented me the second car! Now I am being charged $1200 from E-Z Rent-A-Car for damages that I had nothing to do with.

DON'T RENT A CAR FROM E-Z they are a bait and switch company. I was quoted less that $300.00 both on line and by the sales person at the counter for a 9 day rental. My credit card was charged more than $1, 100.00. When I called to try and dispute the charges I was tranferrd to a recording that lasted for more than 2 hours and then I was disconnected after giving them all my information and no one tried to return my call. after many attempts to speak to somone that would help and over 2 days of phone calls and recordings. A manager told me I should have read my contract better. They fianly agreed to remove a little over $300.00 of the more than $800.00 of over charges. Not a good company to do business with!
