Fraudulent use of information
I signed up as a landlord to order a credit report and background check on a tenant. My credit card(S) were declined. I have impeccable credit. I called their support number to resolve and was told only that Paypal was denying my charge. First of all - what kind of a legitimate company (besides ebay) uses Paypal as their credit card processing company. Second - the representative implied that I have had problems with Paypal in the past. As I have NEVER had a paypal account - this is impossible. Third - when I asked for the phone number of Paypal to resolve this - I was told I would have to look it up on the Internet. I am afraid for my identity as I allowed them access to my information to obtain instant credit reports DO NOT USE e-renter
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Rip off and scam
I just paid $29.95 on a credit card for this company (erenter.com) to do a tenant screening for me. What I got was screwed. They gave me 3 prior addresses, and told me the person had no record. What they didn't tell me was they weren't going to give me any credit information which is what I really wanted. I went to erenter.com and it opened to Inteliu...

I have used e renter since I have a 3 unit apartment building and have to screen tenants before bringing them in, I have no problems with this company so far. They even have sample landlord leases which is very thorough. E renter does not give the actual credit score. You can inform them what is acceptable to you and they will state if the person passes or not. You can ask for paycheck stubs and bank records to supplement information, and also calling previous landlords and employment history.
E-renter is a SCAM, period.
Uh... tens of thousands of online companies use PayPal as their payment processor. A better question is what sort of reputable online company DOESN'T work with PayPal? I've always had really good luck with E-Renter, never had any problems with my credit card at all. They are a very easy-to-use service, and their customer service always seems to go the extra mile when you are having problems. And maybe you did have problems with PayPal in the past - maybe through another company who used them as a credit card processor - and you just didn't realize they used PayPal. You don't have to have a PayPal account to use PayPal.
I don't really get why you are calling this "fraudulent use of information" when you've already made it clear that they DIDN'T process your card, and DID tell you how to find out more about what happened. How are you saying they used your information fraudulently? Also, E-Renter doesn't even give you instant credit reports. They do a credit check thing - you can't get credit reports through them.
