I am having a billing problem with Dynowatt. My bill last month was $585 dollars. The bill I jut got today is $646 dollars. I'm a single mom so this hurts a lot. I have two more weeks until my switch to another provider takes effect and am stuck paying these high bills that I can't afford until it takes effect (or not pay and have it reported on my credit). I was a customer for a year with my variable rates always low at around .12 or .13 and low bills, never late, always paid on time. The last two months my rate jumped to .22 and .24. Dynowatt refused to give the really low fixed rate they offer new customers when I called to complain (they were really rude too). They are not honoring their promise to always beat Reliant's rates which is what they promised me when I switched. So I'm leaving and I will never go back to those crooks. I got no warning that my rate would over double and this should be illegal if it's not! I filed a complaint with the PUC, wrote the governor and news media.

This site tells you exactly why prices are going up. It is not dynowatts or any other service providers fault for the texas market doing what its doing. You people who think you can just do whatever with your bills are wrong. It is up to the consumer to read the terms of service. If you look under the modification of agreement paragraph it says bluntly right there and i quote "This is a variable price agreement; a change in price from month to month as indicated herein does not require prior notice." So all you dumb people who think there gonna sue over there VARIABLE rate changing are idiots. Those on a fixed rate let me explain something. The reason it takes 15-45 days: Up to 15 days is for the processing from dynowatt. After that initial 15 day period the UTILITY company (Centerpoint, Oncor TXU, AEP, TNMP) will wait till your billing cycle is done before they permit the rate change. Dynowatt is not your utility provider. They are a service provider who provides electric. Your utility company takes care of your poles meter reads wires etc. Everyone who thinks they were on a fixed rate is wrong. Dynowatt offered a price to beat program. The program BEFORE it started already had an initial start date and end date. The start date was jan. of '01 and ended dec. 31st of '06. After that date every dynowatt customer was put on a variable rate. Dynowatt did not offer fixed rates till april of '08. It was put all over the website. The my dynowatt page where you do your online acct management it was e-mailed and mailed. If you did not get that thats nobodys problem but yours. If you didnt read your contract when you agreed to it its nobodys problem but yours. And to the guy who wrote askin if there was a way to get out of the contract by cheating just shows what kind of caliber people you really are. Read something before you sign and agree to it. What if in the contract it said dynowatt was allowed to take 100$ a month from your bank acct. You people would just sign away without even reading anything and then complain when your charged. I dont mean to be rude but everyone one of you are wrong and no lawsuit would ever hold up for the simple fact that everything your complaing about is right in your contract that you signed.

Wow the same response that you put on every other DynoWatt complaint. Playing a little damage control are you. I understand that you need some job security these days, but maybe you should look at going back to school or working for a different energy company.

First let me say, go "F" your self. I read my contract and know what it say's. Thats why I switch to a different REP in April when the rate only jumped 3 cents .13 to.17. I also have a good feel for why rates are increasing because I follow the markets and know where things like coal, natural gas trade on a daily basis. You state that Dynowatt didn't offer a fixed rate plan until April 08. Do you suppose that was an accident or just because they wanted to create good will with their customers. I think that it was a carefully contructed business decision. On Feb 02, 08 Natural Gas traded 8.50 mc for the first time in almost 2 years. Mostly because of speculation. It continued to climb until it peaked at 10.50 around Mar 10 and went side ways between 9.40- and 10.50 til April 15. That's when it broke out again and went to a high of 13.75 by Jul 1st. Go see where it trades today. Just Google "spot price natural gas". It plummited back to just above 8.0 in less than 7 weeks. Now Dynowatt is in the business of providing power to consumers and getting the the best rate possible means profits. They changed their policy of offering a fixed rate because they wanted to take advantage of the sky-rocketing cost of providing power. Well now the costs of power have dropped just like any bubble in the markets do. Look at what your paying for a gallon of gas now, verses what you payed just 6 weeks ago. Dynowatt was able to use fear with their rate increases to get customers on a varible rate plan to lock their rates. Rates that in the next 12 months will increase Dynowatts profits a lot. Further, inventory levels reported by the Energy Adminisration indicated that natural gas storage for this summer was only down .2% compared to the last 5 years, where is the shortage that usually causes higher prices? Inventories in this country are expected to increase to historical levels over the next 2 years which should mean the price of natural gas will drop even more. This will turn out be be a good move by Dynowatt, sad thing is they will have hurt a lot of their customers, and if their customers move to a different REP, Dynowatt get's something for nothing. Those customer will have to pay a penalty for moving. What a joke. I for one will not be one of them. Oh, do me a favor when your sitting in at their next board meeting, say hi for me.
