Company is horrible. This summer they added a $20 fee for no reason. I got charged for a disconnect and reconnect service...but check this out, I NEVER had a disruption of service...ever. I called to question this and never received an answer.

Every month my bill is going up about $50, I live in a 2 bed 980 sq ft apartment. How does this equal a $300 bill. I am furious and filing a complaint against this 'company'. Customer service reps...if you want to call them that act like they have no clue and sound like robots when talking to me. Would not recommend this electric service to my enemy.

I knew I shouldn't have became a customer when I called the number and a man answered on his CELL phone asking could he call me back because he couldn't hear me while he was driving. My service was set up only giving him my address...you get what you pay for...crap in this case.

My bill has gone up 20-30 dollars every month and no one can answer my question of why. I live in a 1 bedroom apartment and my electricity is around 260 dollars per month. I had a 3 bedroom before and my electricity with another company was only 200 per month. Something is seriously wrong with this company.

Getting ready today to file complaint with public utility commision, attorney general, . I have to wonder what good this will do due to all the complaints this company already has against them. I however have no intention of letting this go. Since I signed on to thier service, I have paid 199.00 up front, three days later recieved bill for 200.00 . I received that bill on 3/4. Was to be paid by 3/20. Recieved next bill, 4/3 or 4/4 again to be paid the 4/20 in the amount of 263.00. Paid that last Friday, Monday morning next bill in mail box for 225.00. Problem besides the obvious is that I of course called them as I have never received bill in this amount from Reliant in the past 8 months of living at this adress. Ok, was explained this amount has nothing to do with my meter readings, instead it is the amount that was billed at my address this time last year. Yes, thats right, last year when a family of 4 llived here. Ok, thats what Reliant had billed this address last year. In shock I keep listiening to this garbage and was told, yes they do have my meter readings and at the end of six months they will see how much my acutal bill should habe been, and if I was overbilled they would send me a refund. First of all, screw that and screw DPI and screw all of thier employeses. If you a low enougbh to work for a co. that rips people off, that turns off thier electricity because they dont have the money to pay a bill that they are not even responsable for, you are not better than the slime that owns this raquet and all that are benefiting from it. So when you go cash your little checks think about all the elderly people, all the families with babies that are sitting in thier homes with no electricy. Now look in the mirror and have no doubt what you are made of. One more thing as far as the part of your bill that states to call for payment arrangements. What they arranged for me was that I would have to wait until the due date and that possilby they would accept half of bill and two weeks later they would need remainder. When I did this I was told, no mam, you are already on your due date and if not paid in full a disconnect notice will go out. Cant wait until all thier jobs are disconnected.

These people are very dishonest!! This months bill they said I had "estimated" useage of almost 2000kw. How in the hell do you have that much use when you and your kids are gone to school and work, and my air is not on? I can't turn my air on because my apartment complex controls my air and have not turned it on for the summer yet. I have been sitting in my apartment burning up! Of course when I called these "customer service androids" the first thing that is said is "well it has been hot, maybe it's your air conditioner"...No sorry idiot, no air is on since "last summer" because I can't even turn it on, nor do I have access to do it. The rep changed his tune then and admitted that they had been overcharging me!! I only used 800Kw when he went back a looked at my account!! Last year I had an astonishing bill of almost $700.00 in a small 3 br apt. There would be increases of $100.00 every month with no explanation!! I was one of the unfortunates who was on Electric Now! and DPI bought them out. I was unaware of the switch, I just recieved a welcome letter in the mail. I was like "who the hell is DPI?" This is the trick they used to keep people from leaving. They started out with really low rates and low bills making people think they were really good, then after the first two or three months, BAM!! The bills would be $300.00+. No time time switch if you are a poor person. I'm finally leaving soon.Please beware of this company!!

I HAVE HAD LIGHTS WITH THIS COMPANY FOR ONE WEEK AND A DAY I ALREADY RECEIVED MY FIRST BILL, I PAID A DEPOSIT THREE DAYS BEFORE MY LIGHTS WAS TURNED ON, BUT ONLY HAVE LIGHTS FOR ONE WEEK AND I ALREADY HAVE A BILL OF 301.00, I AM NEVER HOME NO WAY THIS IS CORRECT, I AM GOING TO GET RID OF THIS COMPANY. GREEN MOUNTAIN IS WHO I WILL GO WITH.

First of all, there is no deposit required, the initial payment covers the first month of the bill, the second bil is generated 2 or 3 bills after the service has been conected, this will cover for the second month of service, since its a pre paid company they are just covering their back with this, for example: You pay for the initiation on Jan 1, your service will be connected on Jan 3, your first payment covers for your electricity from Jan 3 to Feb 3, arround Jan 5 you will recieve a bill proably due around Jan 20 that will cover the usage from Feb 3 to March 3, if the bill is not paid by the due date they will give you 10 more days before sending a DC order, if you dont pay by around Feb 2 they will send the disconnection and your service will be disconnected around Feb 3 that its the last day that your initial payment covered. That way if you dont pay the electric bill they will disconnect before they start loosing money, and since its a prepaid company they have no way to know how much electricity you will use next month, thats why they estimate every bill however its not based on the amount in dollars that you paid, but in the killowatt hour amount that you used, so if you where with a cheaper company most likely the bill will be higher than last year, I used to work for them, just an insight of how it works.

@sickofthiscompany, the good thing is that its a prepaid company, therefore if you dont agree with your bill remember that that's for next month, you can just switch comapny and you won't owe anything to the company.

My previous entry at Merchant Circle has dissapeared after one day...I tried to leave the following and they won't let me post:

I signed up for your prepaid energy service on 7-2-9. I spoke with "Robert" your friendly sales representative, on 6-30-9 and again on 6-31-9 and 7-1-9 to establish an account so that I could go pay "$99" which was the amount quoted to me on each of those occasions, including the day my account number was issued to me. I was told to go to ACE and "pay $99" and call back with the confirmation number and my electricity would be turned on within 3 to 5 business days. I called yesterday to find out what the status of my service was because it was still not on. I left numerous messages for "Robert" which were never returned, then I found this website and called the number to be told that I still owed $39 before the order would be placed. I was told that "the price went up at the same time your account was created and you have to pay the $39 before we can place the order, and once that is paid it will be 3 to 5 business days for it to be turned on". This is perposterous and illegal. It is fraud. I called again today and left a message for "Robert" which was again not returned. I called again and left a message saying I was interested in the service and got a return call from "Robert" within 5 minutes. As soon as I said that I was Dave Cole, he immediately hung up on me. Subsequent messages too him have yet to be returned. This is a blatant act of fraud and theft of my money. If I do not recieve a phone call before 12PM on 7-9-9 and my electricity is not activated or a refund of my $99 is not mailed and POSTMARKED 7-9-9, with a delivery confirmation tracking number supplied to me to verify that it has been mailed, I intend to file a complaint with the PUC, the Texas State Attorney General, the Federal TRade Commission and any other agency I can think of. I will also contact each of the local televsion stations in the DFW area to speak with the consumer fraud departments to get an expose on your fraudulent business practices splashed across as many TV screens as possible. RETURN MY CALLS, TURN ON MY ELECTRICITY OR RETURN MY MONEY IMMEDIATELY! THIS IS YOUR LASTY WARNING!

I paid my deposit last week and still no lights. When I called the office the robot sounding lady asked me what color tag was on my meter. I told her it was red and she said that something was wrong with the box. I told her yes something is wrong with the box...it doesn't have a gray tag. We argued for about 5 minutes about what the red tag means. I've had lights long enough to know that a red tag means no service, NOT that there is a problem with the box. I asked to speak to a manager because she did not know what in the world she was talking about and said she could not let me speak with a manager because my issue didn't qualify enough to speak with a manager. I wish I had $200 to go to TXU. I will never use DPI again even if they were the last light company in Houston, I'd rather move to another city before I give DPI 1 red cent!!! So please do not fall for it and sign up with DPI, Pay the money and go elsewhere!!!

We had this company as well & they claim one thing but when they bill you its a whole different story. We left that company fast they lie about everything & they charge for services that are not even begin done. Go figure we all need to complain to the PUC & have them shut down.

i paid a 129 dollars they took 5 days to turn on my electricity. then a week later they send me a bill of 204 dollars . so i call the customer service they told me that i had to pay my bill as soon as possible. other wise they were going to send someone to disconnect. overall i do not recommend this company to any one.


hope they shut down this stupid company
they just lie to people
