Dollar General waiting in line, manager was rude.

Today, August 19, 2016 I came in the store to buy some stuff and I heard and seen the manager fussing about another employee to another employee. When I came up front to purchase my stuff she came up front and went behind the counter and 2 other employees was behind the counter and I waited in line about a little over 10 minutes. The manager came out from behind the counter talking on the phone and I asked her where they going to open another register and she said no it had to be counted down and kept on walking out the door. She didn't say I'm sorry. So I laid my stuff on the counter and walked out. The manager was doing something to the ice machine. This is the 2nd complaint. I told my husband that we needed to quit doing business with yall. We went to the grocery store and purchased the stuff we needed. We will be doing business with the grocery store and Freds.

Dollars store aren't in business to provide customer service. They are there to sell stuff cheap. Having cashiers standing by is not in the business plan. You get what you pay for.

Sounds like you interrupted her phone call without excusing yourself. You came across as very rude and most likely that is why you got the response you did.

Dollar General rude behavior

Monday August 5, 2016 went in to dollar general and picked up 2 sunday state papers to purchase, stood in line for 10 minutes, finally got to cashier, manager then comes up and rudely takes the papers out my hands, snaps at me that I shouldn't have come behind the counter to get them. (they were in the news stand with about a dozen more). Was told dollar general could not sell sunday paper on monday. Went home contacted the state paper, Columbia, s.c. and was told that is not the case. If a store has papers left you can purchase them. Went the next day to dollar tree got 2 papers, No problem! Have never had this problem before. Will not shop at this store again. They also have a problem letting you use coupons, it always seems as though the coupons won't scan. Manager name was Jenny.

Dollar General stores dirty and shelves empty!!!

AT 3175 EMPLOYEE was more into talking to the other clerk and not paying attention to checking out his customer as he scan my stuff. As he scan he just shoved articles in one bag and never engaged with his customer. I did tell the cashier he was ruin by turning his back to me and ignoring me. The other stores in addition to this one was in bad shape.. The shelves were not stocked and not recovered from the day before. Items were on shelves that didn't belong there and the floors nasty, look like they hadn't been mopped in several days. Clerks dress code was all black, some shirts had football teams on them and some were just not up to code for DG RULES. Ladies blouses were cut low and showing things not all customers want to see. The isles were so full of freight that was on the floor you were unable to shop them. Could go on but I feel that I'm just wasting my time and that DOLLAR GENERAL have lost there integrity and loyalty to there customers. Sorry that this is happening to our town, but I was a employee of DG for 20 years and it hurts to watch these stores you love going in the wrong direction. Thanks for your time!

Dollar General rude cashier - needs to be fired!

My complaint involves the Dollar General in Blanchard Louisiana. There is a little old lady cashier there, named Alma. Alma is rude and disrespectful to the customers there. I am not the only one that thinks that something needs to be done about this.

On Sunday, August 18th, 2016, at about 6:00 in the evening, I took my little niece to the Dollar General in Blanchard Louisiana. There was a long line there. The cashier was moving slow, and engaging in idle chit chat with the customers.

When it came my turn, I simply wanted to get in and out of there as quickly as possible, so I did not respond to any of her idle chit chat. Afterwards I left, thinking nothing of it. She did not know, however, that my little niece was standing in the line right behind me. Because as soon as I went out the door, she threw a hissy fit, and started bad mouthing me. My little niece said that she was very rude and disrespectful, both to me AND to her.

Then when I took my little niece home, I discovered that nobody was surprised, because they had all had encounters with Alma before. Alma has a MOUTH on her, and consistently uses this mouth to talk badly, about whoever she feels like bad mouthing, whenever someone comes into your store.

And another thing? That store is supposed to be a BUSINESS - NOT Alma's little social club. The time that she spends in idle chit chat, makes things take TWICE as long as it would otherwise, and she was slow to BEGIN with. She becomes even slower, when she spends her time talking about absolutely nothing - or at least nothing that is related to the business.

In my opinion, this is a little old lady that needs to be in a RETIREMENT HOME somewhere, and the job that she is working should be given to a younger, more productive person. She does NOT need to be working at Dollar General. People have plans. People have things to do. They do NOT want to be standing in a long line, listening to some little old lady ask about somebody's grandchildren. NOR do they want to listen to her rude and disrespectful MOUTH.

It is your call, but I would get rid of this employee.

She is making you people LOOK BAD!

Sincerely,

David Potter

I am one of those so-called little old ladies and I guarantee I can and do run circles around many of my co-cashiers that are on a birth certificate, a lot younger. I work for the largest retailer currently in the world and will soon be in a asst mgmt position with Dollar General. I agree with the complainer about too much chatter when there is a line. I chat with many of my customers ONLY while I am bagging their items and waiting for them to pay. Then it is "thank you" smile and "next". Customers say they come to my line when possible because they know I will be friendly but keep my line moving. I deal with the occasional extremely rude customer by simply a "hello" and "thank you" smile and "next"- no other chat- just active listening. If the cashier in LA did talk to another customer regarding the previous customer- yes, I agree. That is totally wrong and where I presently am employed- would not be tolerated. There is a way to control the line without seeming rude or uncaring about the customer. I do hope that the complainer that refers to another as "this old lady" is never in my line in Tennessee. Calling me an old lady would probably result in making me break out laughing and then "thank you", smile, and NEXT (while trying not to continue to laugh.)!

You talk about this old lady being ride, but your entire rant comes off as aggressive and hateful. I wonder who the rude one really is, and what example you get for your niece ignoring someone who says hello to you as though they are not worthy of your time. It would have taken you two seconds to say hey. This old lady may not have anyone alive in her life except her customers. How arrogant of you to be so hateful.

What do you mean refused? They probably did not have a chair available. In my opinion, if your friend is that sick from chemo, perhaps she should start taking a chair with her. You can get a light weight camping chair at Walmart for $10.

Dollar General harassment at the morgantown wv dollar general store on high street

I have been a long time customer at this particular Dollar General n my home town Morgantown West virginia on high street. I have never had any issues with anyone at this store until a few months back new Employee's started working at this store A few months back including the manager and employees has been participating in harassing me while I am in the store. here is the thing every time lately when I have walked into the store I have noticed the same employees with the same pretending fake welcoming attitude while in front of my face as I am walking through this store I am always noticing employees including the manager gathering together mind you there are customers around who can hear them and notice them as I do! talking negative about me spreading rumors and keeping them a live for each employee that has not heard what they have are saying about me yet. I've been treated this way each time I come back to the store for months. I am very aware of what they are doing and gossiping a bout not to mention when I have been in the store I've noticed changes to certain employees who was polite and welcoming at first until other employees get to them next. the friendly vibes aren't the same. I've noticed them laughing at me whispering giggling to one in other sometimes right in my face when I am checking out or I am being treated very rudely by giving me dirty looks or they are walking away from my direction laughing.. To be honest I first noticed these reactions with the female employees then I noticed shorty weeks after the males started acting the same way. I know what is happening here they are bringing a rumor about me from the street into the store. This rumor has been happening to me for a long time In Morgantown because of my ex Fiance spreading lies about me through out our town and it blew up to be this huge thing everyone seems to believe sadly who doesn't know who I am very well our tome is little and every one talks. This rumor is directed on my sexual orientation the rumor is I am a cross dresser I have been through this for years since my break up. the thing is the rumor is under false pre tense since I am a cute girl I believe people keep it going to break me. I am not one to judge anyone for who they are but for them to do this to me in a store they work at is very immature and hurtful and to be honest I don't think its any of there business to spread these accusations among one in other. If they are doing these things to me I just wonder if they do it to other customers a swell because it looks real bad on the stores business I mean if these employees is going to work in a store they should be prepared to be dealing with all walk of human life coming into the store regardless and be respectful to the customers and the store Instead of pushing them out the door they should be trying to bring customers back in and feel welcomed. with their behavior not many people will want to deal with that type of drama or the baggage because I will say I have left that store very annoyed and have had to talk myself into even returning to it I am just that fed up with the drama I am not one for drama or hear say he said she said that is petty drama I don't deal with usually to make it even more immature what they are doing and saying they can't confirm it I don't know anyone in the store personally they don't know me other than what they hear obviously. lately I have switched up on where I shop I've been doing most of my shopping at cvs or sheets because those company's has legit polite employees who does not harass me or try to Assassinate my character or try to define who I am through what they might have heard. nothing the Dg employees can define who I am. I know enough to be able to see that someone one in that store had to be envy and heard this rumor then went for it I think I know the two girls who are doing it I don't know their names but they were the ones who I saw beginning this drama. hopefully this issue will be resolved so I can return and shop in peace because I do like the store its self its just the people who work there make it look bad. this store needs help thank you

Dollar General harassment by employees at morgantown wv dollar general on high street

I have been a long time customer at this particular dollar general in my home town morgantown west Virginia dollar general on high st for a long time and I've never had the problem I am having in the store now until new employees started working inside the store a few months back including the manager in fact the manager is participateing in the harassment with the employees. Here is the thing as soon as I walk into the store I have noticed the same employees with the same fake pretending welcoming smile as I am going through the store I am noticing the employees including the manager gathering together in the store in front of other customers talking about me its not hard not to notice it I've been very aware of it for a couple months now. At first impression Ignored it then later on coming back into the store I've noticed a change in certain employees attitudes that use to be more friendly and welcoming to laughing at me while I am in line staring at me in ways that feel very uncomfortable and there has been occasions where I've been laughed at in my face or just treated extremely shady and rudely. I first noticed it with certain females who work in the store then I noticed it going further with the males. I know what's happening the employees rumors about me amongst each other in the store from what they have heard about me outside the store on the streets.. Its directed on my sexual orientation there has been rumors going around my town that I am a male dressed like a female I have delt with this half my life in this town. Here is a another thing these rumors aren't exactly true. Personally I feel like even if they were is it any of their business to spread these accusations amongst one in other until it turns into a big thing. I mean if they are doing this to me under false pretense what are they doing to other customers because with that sorta immature behavior going on I am sure I am not the only individual they are harassing or discriminatory against or gossiping about. Personally its bad for business with that sorta behavior that just chases good customers out the door and not wanting to come back to deal with that type of negative vibes or the drama. Working in any store these employees need to be prepared for all walks of human life to come in and shop in general. if they can't then they should reconsider working in stores or around the public because other wise many customers will feel they are being pushed out the door or just won't want to return. I myself have slowed down shopping at dollar general as mush as I use to because I've left the store upset annoyed and frustrated by the acts I've described. I have started shopping at CVS or sheets if I need certain items more now because in them stores the employees are more matured and doesn't go out of their ways to assanate my character. What the DG employees are doing talking about things they can't even confirm other than he said she said. I don't know any of them personally out side of the store but I know enough to know they are filled with some type of jealousy or just plain out drama that I won't deal with. I hope things will change in positive was in this particular store because it needs help.. Thank you..

Dollar General the lady left the store

I went to Dollar General today and as I pulled up at 8:05 the lady working there walks out and goes and sits in her car. The store opened at 8:00 and people were pulling in and leaving. Everyone there was mad and upset and she still sat there on the phone and wouldn't open the doors. I finally left at 8:20 because I had to get to work. She was very unprofessional and lost customers this morning. Also the way they rearranged the store is awful. The aisle are so small and they always have stock boxes out and no one can get down the isle. An elderly man a few weeks ago couldn't even walk in there because his walker couldn't get by all the boxes they had in the isle and he got stuck. It is such a mess down there someone needs to go down there and straighten it up.

If I remember right, DG does not allow a clerk to be in the store alone. SO it is entirely possible that the opening cashier did not show up, leaving the manager to keep the store closed. When she was in her car on the phone, it was probably to notify someone that she was alone. That is not poor service. That is smart, safe business.

Dollar General filthy store, inside and out

Beginning with the parking lot, there are cigarette butts all along the curbs, and trash all over the parking lot. The shopping carts are lined up, many with trash inside the carts. Most times you can pass by and see employees themselves outside on the side of the building smoking. Inside is messy, poorly stocked shelves, untidy shelves, stains on the floor, and general filthy feeling. This is unfortunate, as this is a high traffic, upscale area with many out of town/state visitors. Please work on fixing these issues so I can enjoy shopping there again.

Dollar General managers harassing employees and district manager drunk

This company has so many issue I don't know where to start. I am a customer and also speaking out for employees there. The store Manager Steve Hunter is incompetent. I have heard him asking employees the same questions over and over, following them around and virtually harassing them all day long. He is pitting employees against each other. He claims no one is working and they are working 12 times harder than him. He takes people off the schedule to punish them. He convinces employees to spy on others. If you buy anything there you are risking on paying more for it due to the prices not being correct. The cash register doesn't work properly constantly holding up the line. The online coupons is not working properly to get you discounts. The district manager Mark comes in drunk. That store is in trouble I think the employees wouldn't do sneaky underhanded things if they were not pressured too. They are good people! As a customer who like to buy from there I am getting a bad taste in my mouth for the cooperation letting this happen and ready to pay more just to have good service and employees treated like human beings. I am going to start videoing this behavior. It has to stop its not right to pit people like that when there is so many things in the store to fix.

Dollar General remolding

I visit the store in Kaufman Texas on Washington street. the bathroom is falling apart it is hotter than *** in there. You cant get through the isles with so much stuff to be put onto shelves. The people are friendly enough just bad store. I love to shop here it is so convenient to run to post office and then stop buy. But please remodel this store. It is a shame to have such a busy store and cannot get repairs made. People of all sorts are talking about it when I shop. You carry a great deal of everything I need. Just need to fix it up.

Dollar General shelves not stocked

6/20/16 In the past few weeks the store has been getting worse with shelves not stocked. Looks like they are going out of business. My husband and I go to a Dollar General one to three times a week. We have our favorite items we like to purchase for ourselves and grandchildren. In the last few weeks, none of these items are available. We have been shopping at other Dollar General stores in nearby cities. The women that works at the register has body order so bad, you can smell it when you walk in door. Being across the counter from her is unbearable. The store looks dirty and empty.

Just a quick complaint to inform the management or owner of the filth in the Mount Prospect Illinois Dollar Tree store. We went in there just today for some wrapping paper and a card because they usually have the best selection and a great price. There was aisles that had all sorts of garbage and merchandise on them, and the shelves were terrible as well. Every thing thrown all different way. I was so dissatisfied for it looked like a ghetto store...It was never like that. Maybe the people who work there should go thru the store before leaving like most do, and straighten it out...I could not believe it...I think the management should step up and take pride in your store...

Dollar General they stopped carrying dollar general brand diet cola!

I am a diabetic & on a fixed income. I shop my local dollar general store very frequently. For the last month/6 weeks I noticed they were out of the 12 pack of clover valley, (Dollar general store brand) , diet cola.
I though maybe it just has not came in or any was ordered, (This store has a big problem keeping stock & when it does come in, it takes almost a week for it to get on the shelves). I was in there yesterday, 6/6/2016, I asked the employee why there still was no clover valley diet cola 12 pks. She told me they quit carrying them, I asked why, she said "i dunno, it was the coke guy", which is incorrect because that item would come from the warehouse, not the "coke guy"!
I know this item was a good seller, because lots of times there would only be 1 or 2 left on the shelf!
I can not afford to buy the name brand at double the price! As I am sure I am not the only one.
This is a very rural area & not a lot of choices to buy needed items without driving 20 miles one way!
I dont know who made the decision to stop carrying this product, but it was the wrong decision!
Dollar general please start carrying the clover valley diet cola 12 pack in your cooper, texas store!
Summer is on its way & lots of people will need soda. Plus think of your customers who are on a fixed income & can not drink reqular soda!

Dollar General store and employees

I arrived to employees both were outside the store sitting smoking with two others people. The store in disarray, but the employees were relaxing, smoking, joking. You have to walk through a cloud of smoke to even get in. The door is wide open so actually the smoke was even inside. I have Asthma and that is not a welcoming thing to have to do. When I went to check out the lines were 6 to 7 people long. I took pictures of a sign that was in the store. It was so rude and unnecessary . I have pictures attached. It is sad this store is going down so fast. I was so glad to get one near my home but this one is becoming a dump.

Dollar General false advertising-incorrect discount code

5-21-16
Store #14814 on the corner of county farm road and cable bridge in gulfport, ms survey code [protected]
Request a full refund.

Sold a skirt that was supposed to be 40% off from $12.50 only to find when I checked my receipt in the car that I had been charged $9.00. I did not have time to return it.

When I did, I was informed this was not the same skirt, because the receipt said the original price was $15.00, not $12.50 as it clearly stated on the tag. Since the skirt did not fit, not only did I not get the 40% off but now they wanted to return only 40% at an additional loss to me!

I know for a fact I had the correct receipt and the correct skirt since I never shop at dollar general and never took the receipt or the skirt out of the car when I realized it was the wrong size and I was overcharged.

Dollar General the whole store!

I have lived in this small town all my life. I like going to dollar general stores, but I visit other locations or other stores over the dollar general in my hometown. My last visit on may 19, 2016 at 10:40am I found the store inside to be very dirty and very disorderly. Boxes or stockers carts sitting in isles. The outside of the store is just downright nasty with trash and cigarette b**ts. I would like to shop at my local dollar general instead of other stores. The other two retail stores in town are much more organized and cleaner. You need more employees or more hours for the employees you have to keep the store neat and clean and stocked. I worked at a local grocery store where our shelves were always stocked, was clean and the front of the store was cleaned every morning before our store opened. I hope things change so I can have a nice shopping experience at my hometown store.

Dollar General rug doctor

On april 16, 2016 at 4:30 pm. My granddaughter rented the rug doctor to clean my car seats. She paid $40.00 to rent it. The next morning she was going to clean it. She started to work on the seats and less than five minutes into it the machine stopped. Needless to say she was upset. She took it back to the store and told the cashier what had happened. It just stopped. Cashier daid nothing she could do about it. Finally after argueing with her she did return $20.00 back to her. It was no fault of my granddaughters that it did not work. I feel she should not have had to argue to get her money back in full. The cashier was very rude to her and that upset me. I am handicapped and could not get in the store. She is on a fixed income also and raising 7 children. She was going to clean my car as a mothers day surprise for me. I just found out what happened is why I have not written before. Form number is [protected], store # 2225. This happened at the white hall, illinois, , , employee name looks like sally moffitt. Serial #09wo8370 hour meters101.8. I was recently an Assistant Manager of a DG and just got tired of being mistreated. There's only so many times you can take being told in front of people that you don't work or do your job. Or get in trouble for little things and watch everyone else get treated like they are gold and don't do any wrong! I have never felt so horrible in a job in my life! I worked my butt off and constantly would get into trouble for little things that didn't matter. And if I was doing such a horrible job why wasn't I wrote up.
I hope that someone stops this manager before she ends up really getting into something she cant handle!

I guess it's everywhere. I too have been harassed discriminated and retaliated against by DG management after reporting issues to district manager HR and LP. I was removed from the.schedule. They haven't terminated me but they are trying to force me to take a leave of absence due to my pregnancy after having a threatened miscarriage on the job. It's just too much. These people are something else.

Dollar General disrespected and accused of shoplifting

On April 26, 2016, around 8:50 PM, I went to Dollar General to buy The Sim card activation Kit for a trac-phone, and when I interred the store I went straight to where they have all the sim cards and cell phones. They did not have what I was looking for so I proceeded to check by the check out area to see if they might have them there, then I was approached by a saleswoman that was working the cash register, and she asked me what I was looking for, as I started to tell her what I was looking for, she in my opinioned was not paying any attention to what I was saying, all she kept doing was looking at me suspiciously and looking at a blue small bag that I was holding, so she told me no, that they did not have what I was looking for. I told her that the product I was looking for advertised on a website that they carried what I was looking for, and again, she did not pay any attention to what I was saying, so I left the store and the woman followed me out the store and told a security guard to check my bag, so the security guy called me and said that he has to check my bag, I said sure no problem, he checked my bag and told the woman that nothing from the store was in my bag. The woman did not even gave me an apology, I was so embarrassed and felt so disrespected by that employee. That was my first time in that particular store and the last time that I will ever shop at that store. I will post this happening on social media to tell them how I, a 55 year old tax payer, and registered voter, how I was treated at Dollar General, A store that suppose to be family oriented and very courteous to their customers.

Dollar General poor air quality in store

Store in Warner Oklahoma.. The outside temp was 80 degrees, the inside store temp was about 90. It was so hot in the store that the employees had the front doors open. They said they have no control over the thermostat and that corporate controlled the air. Most of the food items I bought were almost melted. This is ridiculous. Food items and medications should be stored at a safe temperature and employees should not have to work in conditions where there is not adequate air supply. Customers should not have to shop in a store that does not have an adequate air supply either. Does the corporate office forget that there are coolers that emit heat and it brings the inside store temp up anyhow?
