Dollar General refunds

my father and my daughter went to the store on july 26, 2014 and payed for our groceries with my food stamp card that had a balance of more than 100.00 when they got to the register to pay the total was 83.90 they swiped the card and the cashier said it didnt go through and had him swipe it again and then she said there was only 29.13 on the card so he payed the remaining balance of 58.34 with cash. So i called the card and it said it had took the 83.90 off and then took the 29.13 so i went back to the store and explained to the manager and they appologized and said i was not the only one that it has happened to and they refunded me the 58.34 cash and said they put the 29.13 back on my card and it never came on ther so i went back they done it again and it still never went on my card and now they say by their records they have give it to me twice and they have never refunded it to me at all. SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE ABOUT THIS THEY SHOULDNT BE ABLE TO DO THAT AND TREAT PEOPLE LIKE THEY ARE LYING!

Dollar General sexual harrassment, wrongful discharge

I was employed from january 3011 - october 2013 with dollar general as an assistant manager during theat time I faced sexual harassment from both my immediate store manager and district manager. I was the first and only black male to work as a manager for store 4036. I complained to my regional manager but nothing was ever done. During this entire term of employment I had a stellar record, I had never took off a day from work, never was late, never had a write up. When it came time for the store manager to resign I was next in line for the position. I left on vacation to see my wife in illinois, I took a couple of extra days because I was trying to help her with moving with me in ms. When I returned my district manager fired me stating excess days off. We had several white employees that had chronic absenteeism with and without calling in, yet no one other than myself was ever fired for that reason.

I was replaced by a white woman manager from a neighboring town, it just so happens that she lived in the same town as our store but had been driving 30 miles to the store she worked at. It seems a clear cut move to remove me but without developing a track record of any wrong doing on my behalf.

Dollar General disgruntled employee

I visited the Dollar General store #04895 in Willacoochie GA as I do several times a week every week. They have this employee working there that always seems to have a sort of sour attitude. Today though she was especially rude. While I realize she was
busy checking in new products from the pepsi or coke vendor she shouted at me and the two other customers that were standing behind me patiently waiting for assistance. Once she did make it to the register she starting scanning then throwing my purchases into a bag with haste, then when she saw that I was paying with a check she snatched it from my hand. I politely gave her all of the information that she needed and again with haste she entered it into the system. Due to her making a mistake upon entering my information my check was declined and she shouted it for all of the other customers to hear, which was pretty embarrassing since I own and operate a pretty prominent business in this community. She then handed me back my check and when I offered to pay cash for part of my purchase she stated she "didn't have time for this c***." As embarrassed as I was I just walked out. The vendor even made a comment about her attitude as I was leaving. I have instructed all of my employees and a few other acquaintances from our church not to shop at this store any more until something was done with woman. I was enamored at the responses I
got in reference to how she has treated so many this same exact way.

You are building a brand new store down the street from this location. We are really glad. However, the store you currently have open if always dirty, and merchandise is always stacked in isles waiting to be put out. Can't even get around in the store. It seems like the employees don't even care. I strongly hope this new store is better. I stopped shopping at your store because of these problems.

Dollar General work for them, hate it

I work for dg store #12169 and I absolutely hate it! They treat you like ### there especially the district manager and all the key holders for that store dg human resources won't do anything because there to corrupt to do the right thing they say it would be "discrimination" but, they all discriminate to me because I am from a metropolitan city and moved to a small country town out in the middle of nowhere. Everybody please complain to dollar general corporate for the stores mistreatment of employees!

I have never worked for Dollar General BUT I have seen how bad they are to their very good managers. They worked the one we had in Kermit, Tx. Until she left do to their demands. It was such a great store, with shelves full and every thing looked clean and neat. Now it has empty shelves, workers very rude. At night they close early they say get out! It is also looking nasty, we won't be going back until the management is gone. Never mind we always went there sense they opened. So now our shopping is done at Family Dollar and Alco..

Also, my Wife is a "Lead Sales Associate" for DG and has her own M.O.D.# (Manager On Duty #) but yet my Wife has a regular "Sales Associate" Working over her as M.O.D. on Closing Shifts and is forced by the Store Manager to give her own M.O.D. to the Regular "Sales associate" to use for Vendor Purposes, etc.. That is VERY Wrong Doing because if that "Sales Associate" does anything wrong (loses money etc etc) it would come back on my wife by Corporate Management.. She also works in a DG Store that Does NOT have A/C, it gets 10 - 20 degrees Hotter inside that Store than outside.
My Wife has Videos of several "Wrong Doings"!
There is also Personal Customer Checks that goes "Missing" and the Manager FORCES my Wife to Pay for the Check in Cash, Out of Pocket, Under the Table or is threatend to be "Wrote Up" and "Fired".. And we have Proof...

Yes! You are 100% Correct! My Wife works for DG. She is treated like [censored] by her Employer. And for the people saying "jus seek employment elsewhere", need to STFU! Its NOT that easy! A LOT of DG Stores are Corrupt! Piss Poor Management in 90% of DG Stores...AND they Screw Employees on Pay Roll. EVERY Week my wife is missing an Hour or so off her Check and has to stand on her head to be Paid Back and then it takes a Week or 2 to see it Paid...

I was playing for more than a year for this.. I'm so disappointed right now.. My question is this is a scam really. Why treat people like that. Its not fair or maybe because i'm hispanic. Can anyone answer this please. That money it was for my mom to buy a new bed for her. I was so happy when they told me I win and now I dont know anymore.. Please someone told me..

Dollar General manager sherol

April 12th I was in Store #03160 and there were 3 boys who wanted to purchase some items and they got out their money which was about $4.00 in mostly pennies. The manager refused to take their money because the pennies weren't wrapped she said. Customers in line started telling her she was refusing a sale and it is cash tender and she can't do that. The boys not knowing left with their pennies. Then when customers complained her excuse was she didn't have any place to store them. I told her that wasn't the boys problem that was her problem. I went outside and asked the boys for their pennies and was going to give them the money. A man who also told the manager that it wasn't right took their pennies and gave them the $4.00. I will go in there with pennies when I want to buy something. She refuses sales for your company. What is that telling the boys it's easier to steal it than deal with the manager. I told them to never let anyone refuse to take their money again in any store. If nothing is done about this and this manager, I will report this to the better business bureau. Karen O'Neill Please call me and let me know that this has been addressed with this manager at this store. Thank you

There is a common misconception that a business has to take your money. They don't. A business has a right to refuse service to anyone so long as it is not based on a Federally protected group (elderly, disability, race, religion, etc). The woman refused service based on the fact that the coins were inconvenient for her. That is her right - as it is your right to complain about the business. In the end, don't shop there if you don't like their service.

Of course it's bad business! It also tells just what kind of manager this person is. The manager should have told the boys that she would be happy to take their money at the other register and told the cashier to keep the line going. As she handed the boys their purchases, she should have THANKED them for spending their savings at the DG. This is the kind of experience that helps children understand the benefits of not only saving money, but also the whole spending process--preferably ending with a positive experience. Yes, the parents should have exchanged the pennies. However, In this day and time we are unable to count on parents for every little thing and, unfortunately, for many big things.

I don't know what it is about DG, but a horrible incident at a DG yesterday is what brought me to this sight today. I am hoping to get some insight into why this happened to me. Does anyone know why a cashier would scream "disrespect" because I put my money on the counter as I counted it out instead of putting it in her hand? I swear that I was so intent on getting money out of my wallet and making sure I had the correct amount I wasn't paying attention to anything else. As it was, a $20 bill fell out of my folded money when I first got it out--I'm sure you get the picture. She said I saw her hand out and it was disrespect. It got so bad that she told me my mother didn't raise me right (I'm 65 years old) 'called me the "B" word that ends in "itch"and got 3 other customers involved that were behind me in line. One of them said it was racial and another said that I just didn't want to touch her. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I was just trying to get the right amount of money out of my wallet. When I finally looked up, I realized her hand was out. I just thought she wasn't paying attention or that she possibly thought I was taking too much time. After laying the money down on the counter, I visually counted it again, looked up at her and seeing her hand out, I told her it was the correct amount. It was at that moment that I realized that something was wrong. She placed my bag to the right, took the money off of the counter and said nothing. I stood there for a minute trying to decide whether to ask her what was wrong, then picked up my bag and walked to the door. It was at that moment that she lost it. I'm still clueless about the disrespect issue, but I'm also still very upset about the whole thing. Yes, I did have her call the person in charge (asst mang). The asst mang said she was in the back, so all she could do was report it to the manager the next day and the manager would watch the store tape. However, the asst mang did hear her call me the "B" word. She told the cashier to be careful, but said nothing to me. I gave her my number and asked her to ask the manager to call me after viewing the tape. So far, I've heard nothing from her.

It is poor business because they were refusing to take legal tender, simply out of laziness. And Redhatter, what bank do you go to that doesn't take legal tender? Their central bank created it, they're obligated to take it.

Dollar General poor everything

First of all Its a mess, Sec there were 6 people waiting in line and the one out of 4 employees that were waiting on people talked to her friend for a good 5 mins while the other employees just stood behind the counter. As I got closer I noticed that they were not putting our stuff In reg store bags they were using the cheapest crappist GARBAGE bags. Well when I went to pick up my bag with my stuff that I just purchased my fabric softener hit the ground and splattered every where the 3 glass candles I purchased shattered on the ground and the rug powder open and landed in the softener It has to be one of the worst Dollar General I have every been to!

I do not appreciate Dollar General's draconian methods of checking ID when buying alcohol. I am a senior citizen and clearly above the age for being carded. My fiancée and I went into a dollar general to buy alcohol for a party. We showed our ID but asked the employee not to put our personal information in the computer. We are elderly and do not want our personal information out on the web, especially since Target was hacked recently. The associate refused us the sale in front of all the people in line behind us. Her reason was because I didn't want her to put my birth date into the computer. I am 60 years old and I have never in my life been refused a sale on anything. She took our alcohol and put it on the floor. She said, "I don't have to sell you anything for any reason." This was enough for me to never spend another dime in a Dollar General again. I have a business in this area and I tell everyone who comes in my shop what they did. I hope their method of harassing people who are legal to buy alcohol comes back to bite them in the ###. I hope they go bankrupt.

Dollar General beligerant, ignorant, managers

March 29, my 4 year old and myself were in the store to celebrate her achievements in school, when she had to potty. I told her to hold it cause there was no public rooms. When she could hold it no longer I asked the cashier, and was told to go in the back of store. There was so much clutter we couldnt find the restroom, so I took my daughter into a filthly mop room and she pottied in the sink, it was so filthy I had to hold her up to potty. Finally a male came out of the restroom we didnt find and the manager asked us what we were doing, trying to steal cause we were not supposed to be back there. I replied, nothing we're done. She said I hope u didnt potty in the mop bucket. Then I replied, if she did then call the police, and she did. The manager who wasnt involved pulled up as we waited patiently for the police and I attempted to tell her about her ignorant ### assistant manager and she told the police that I was beligerant. I said u dont know what I was u just pulled up and you were not here... Im upset at this time by the way my daughter and I was treated and verbally assaualted by what seemed to me at the time, black while trying to potty, you have some nerve accusing us of any allegded wrong doing.
So, now im accusing the two managers and dollar general for "conspiracy to commit fraud/sexual harrassment!" my lawyer will be with u shortly... P. S. . Fubar

Dollar General empty shelves box carts everywhere

Every time I go in there is Dolly's everywhere full of unopened boxes. The shelves
Are always empty. Unless there are unopened boxes sitting on them. The clearance isle is like a big free for all there is stuff everywhere very unorganized. If u want to look on the shelves you have to move those dolly things they have full of boxes. It is utterly ridiculous how poorly a store is being "managed " something really needs to be done ASAP. This location is great for most of us we don't have to go through all the traffic when we need something. But if the store never has anything it does us no good.

Okay, I don't believe what I am seeing. The Company that carries Venice Maid Foods; had a little surprise for me. There is another label under the The Venice Maid Foods. It's Clover Valley Condense Tomato Soup. I have never heard of such a thing. To see the complaints of what people had said about Clover Valley, should I be worried, that there could be things in the can that are not suppose to be there.

Dollar General empty shelves / cleanliness

I visit the Dollar General store quite often or rather I did. Having said that I made a visit on yesterday 6MAR14 and to my dismay nothing has changed. The shelves are still empty and dusty. This has come about since the manager has changed to whomever the female is, that's never there. Boxes are on the shelves unopened which has never been like that. I know merchandise is to be placed on the shelves when freight comes in, right? Which usually sits in the isles unopened to be put in stock but not the whole box. Please correct me if I am wrong. To my disbelief I stepped over trash that was in the middle of the isle, as well as some that was sweep up against a in cap. I have never witnessed this before and being a fairly new store this is unacceptable at least to me. I used to love going to that store because of its location, but this is about to change.

THE STORE HAS BECOME TERRIBLE SINCE THE REMODELING. I AM TALKING ABOUT THE SCHULENBURG TEXAS STORE. EVER SINCE MARCI THE MANAGER LEFT IT HAS DONE NOTHING BUT GO DOWN HILL. SINCE THE REMODELING OVER HALF OF THE ITEMS HASNT BEEN PUT BACK ON THE SHELVES. I KNOW THIS FOR SURE BECAUSE IT IS THE ITEMS I ALWAYS BUY. THAT LEAVES ME T O GO ACROSS THE STREET TO FAMILY DOLLAR, I HATE HAVING TO GO TO TWO STORES . SO I HAVE NOT BEEN GOING TO DOLLAR GENERAL AT ALL ANYMORE AND BEFORE MARCI LEFT I WOULD GO THER AT LEAST EVERY OTHER DAY. IT IS VERY SAD THAT YALL WOULD LET THE STORE RUN DOWN LIKE THAT. YALL MIGHT AS WELL LOCK THE DOORS. ONE DAY THE STORE DIDNT EVEN OPEN ON TIME. FOUND OUT THE MANAGER JUST DECIDED NOT TO OPEN THAT MORNING AND DIDNT LET ANYONE KNOW. YALL SHOULD HAVE FIRED HIM THAT DAY. HE IS NOT MANAGER MATERIAL. HE COULD CARE LESS ABOUT THIS JOB AND THE COUSTOMERS OF THIS TOWN LIKE ME WHO HAVE SHOPPED AY THIS STORE SINCE IT OPENED IN SCHULENBURG. WHY CANT YOU BRING IN HELP TO GET EVERYTHING BACK ON THE SHELVES. THE FEW EMPLOYEES YOU HAVE CANNOT DO EVERYTHING THEMSELVES. IM SURE YOUR PROFIT HAS TAKEN A NOSE DIVE AND IT IS YALL OWN FAULT, AND YOU WONDER WHY YALL ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR HELP. PEOPLE IN OUR SMALL TOWN TALK AND NO ONE WANTS TO WORK FOR A COMPANY LIKE YALLS..YOUR STORE HAS A HORRIBLE REPUTATION IN THIS TOWN. I DONT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED WITH MARCI LEAVING BUT I CAN TELL YOU THAT WAS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED TO THE STORE. SHE COULD RUN THE STORE WITH HER EYES CLOSED AND THAT IS A FACT, SHE CARED ABOUT THE STORE AND THE CUSTOMERS DEEPLY AND IF YALL KNOW WHATS GOOD FOR YALL YOU WILL GET HER BACK AT WHATEVER COST IT TAKES OTHERWISE JUST SHUT THE DOORS FOR GOOD

Dollar General being accused of shoplifting

I went in the dollar general store on march 4, 2014 alittle after 10am. I purchased a box of motrin which was 6 dollars. I paid and left. I was carrying the motrin in my hand. The parking lot was a sheet of ice as well. I was walking and a cashier came out and said mam you need to come back, you didnt pay for that. It caught me of guard and I said well I checked out. So I go back in and I said well she checked me out and I have a receipt. She said oh she checked you out I said yes. She said I didn't, I could only see you at the register and she said something about something beeping. She didn't even want to see my receipt, so I slammed my purse down and got the receipt out. I said I don't shoplift! I don't even think she looked at the receipt. I told her that was embarassing in front of people. I did let her have it I told her that I was calling the manager and the dollar general corporation and she laughed. Turns out the manager nicole as in the store. I know she heard me screaming at the cashier (Tabby). I have called they are supposed to call me back. I also made a complaint to th better business bureau.

Dollar General rudeness

I spend a lot of money at the Dollar General Store. This is the second time that my son was denied to use their restroom. I spend hundreds of dollars there each and every month. I work and I do not receive any government assistance. The shelves are always empty boxes are all through out the store. The restrooms are always out of order. The store is filthy and the employees are very rude. I will not be spending another penny of my hard earn money here ever again. All of my family lives in or near Independence. I will spread the news about this store on Facebook and let others know about how this store operates. My son has a medical problem and when he has to go to the restroom he can't hold himself. They won't ever have to worry about me or any of my family and friends ever doing business with them. The next I need something from a store I will drive 15 miles to WalMart. At least they will thank me for my business and have restroom available, stocked shelves, nice employees and a clean store. Also another problem at this dollar store is the check out lines are always slow they cram and throw items into a bag and they just don't care it you forget your bag or not. The cashiers are always way from their registers and you have to wait on them

It's a "dollar" store, don't know what you expect. Here, people tear and rip their way through everything on the shelves in a matter of minutes while their children open and play with the merchandise on the floor...then another customer comes in and no time to clean up after the kids and empty boxes. Usually a store is staffed with one person who is left to do it all. Bathrooms are off limits because of only employee working in the store and also a business does not have to let you use the bathroom unless food and drink are served in the establishment. Not sure what you're thinking here: if you're not poor, and you're unhappy with the service, and your child has frequent accidents, why shop there? There are lots of rude and mean customers out there too! :) And, as far as Walmart...that's who I thought you were talking about in the first place. You won't be happy there either.

Dollar General Glass in product

Purchased a jar of Clover Valley grape jelly and peanut butter from Dollar General. It was the "Goober" imitation of the two mixed together. I made a sandwich, took a few bites and my last bite bit into something really hard and thought it had broken my tooth. I spit it out to discover a half inch shard of glass! I am so glad that it was not the sandwich that I had fed to my grandchildren or the outcome could have been much worse. I have reported the problem to the FDA and Dollar General. Hoping this matter will be taken seriously to avoid any potential problems in the future. I

I have been out of work due to surgery, and your oatmeal has been amazing! Quaker does not compare... Nor does any other brand. I just thought someone should know they are appreciated.

Dollar General corporate injustice

It is a travesty when the day comes that a corporation attempts to cover up mistakes made by their district/regional managers by getting rid of the 'disposables' who know what happened in a store.

One year ago there were nine employees who worked in Store #222 with Heather Azcatzl under the District Manager, Roy Singley. Today there only remains two of those nine, the others all have left because of the 'relationship' between Heather & Roy, or been fired for whatever bogus reason that the DM partnering with LP were able to concoct within the premis of Dollar General's loophole filled policies. The former manager, Mike Price, had brought that store up from unacceptable standards to near model in about one year which was an amazing feat in itself considering the 'quality' of people in that area, the foot traffic because it backs up to the government housing projects, and unfortunately many of the people in the town of Waverly are not of the best character. The shrink level dropped over 1/3 while sales went up over 30%. But yet his character and integrity have been brought into question, slandered by managers of other stores in the district (primarily in Erin & Tennessee Ridge). The store is in a constant state of disarray. The new store manager and staff are EXTREMELY rude and uncaring for the customer needs, almost as though customers are an inconvenience.

In October, Angie Craft had been terminated for fraudulent returns, pocketing money, taking pennied out merchandise AND reselling on a FB Closed Group "Humphreys County Buy Sell Trade". (Pictures of the merchandise along with the dates of the postings can be provided). The pennied out merchandise appeared 'coincidentally' soon after the July 2013 inventory during which it was discovered that this merchandise was still in the store. She applied for unemployment AND actually received it. HOWEVER, Mike Price has been denied to date of ANY unemployment and was NOT involved in any form or fashion of THEFT!

Bonnie Hedrick was terminated soon after Mike Price. Her crime... grazing, which had gone on for QUITE sometime, yet had never caught the attention of the DM who even noticed and made statements like, where's your receipt, can't have food at the register, do these empty chip bags belong to you. But NOTHING was ever done in spite of this being viewed in person AND on CCTV, until this recent 'sting' operation... all because of a cover up plan relating to Heather Azcatl.

Donny Nallinger, the LSA, was recently terminated in January 2014 for a couple of reasons, things that are NOT uncommon in MOST DG stores. First, he adjusted a price for 'customer satisfaction' because merchandise in the PROPER location still had sales stickers/price labels posted that were outdated and had been failed to be pulled by store employees. Any time I have in the past shopped in a DG store, it was the customer's satisfaction and my understanding of DG policy that the customer WAS to receive that price for whatever they ALREADY had at the register if indeed there was an error about the price. THEN the MOD was to immediately locate the product and correct the situation. Second, he 'ran' on one of his cashier's tills. NOT uncommon at all...and DG would lose over 1/2 its management staff if EVERYONE was terminated for this action. It's not like the cashier's till came up short either.

Sherry Brown was terminated within days of Donny's termination for giving a customer a past dated sale price which was still posted... an action a sales associate is completely unable to complete without the MOD's key. So what happened to DG standing behind satisfying the customers?

Heather Azcatl, out of her OWN mouth, admitted during her time of assignment to Store #222 how she had partied so much that she was late for work hungover, clothes wrinkled, and explicit sexual conquests (told to co-workers as well as customers). She was constantly approaching customers and vendors for their numbers to be able to 'hit them up' later. She sent provocative pictures to co-workers whose numbers she had, which should have only been because of her position as SMC/ASM. She knowingly was sexually involved with the LSA Damien Cagle during her time at Store #222, as well as attempted to get involved with Sales Associate Max Stevens. Even though she has since been terminated herself after being assigned a DG store in Clarksville, the disastrous wake she left once her indiscretions were FINALLY called into accountability has caused untold damage to her former co-workers lives. (1) Mike's wife has had some recent health issues that have come to light that are resulting in a MAJOR financial hardship on a family already struggling. (2) Donny still struggling to find employment that will help with his family situation as well as keep his vehicle from being reposessed. (3) Sherry is a single mom/grandmother/sister, solely responsible for the care of her disabled sister, her grandchildren whose mother is incarcerated, and has limited ability because of an older unreliable vehicle.

It's a shame to see a corporation, that appears on all public levels, to be an amazing company who cares. But in fact, behind the scenes, they have store managers TOTALLY unprepared for management because of the poor training received, people worked long difficult hard hours for mere penance pay (yes, I know the rating of DG as the #4 worst company in the US to work for and now I understand why after talking to these people who were part of a community, trying to raise and improve YOUR corporate image, were like family and actually CARED about us, the customers). Unless some form of justice comes to the RIGHT people, and DG actually places someone in management positions at this store who CARE and DG will back up, Store #222 is going to fail. Amazingly, CashSaver moved in next door in June 2013 and DG/CashSaver actually complimented each other and had an amazing work relationship, caring for their customers TOGETHER. Now, CashSaver is getting the business DG should have... your shelves are empty, your store is a wreck, your employees now are rude and uncaring. Maybe it's time to clean house the RIGHT way!

Dollar General harassed by employee

On Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, I entered the Dollar General store to purchase deodorant and after school snacks for my son. The first item I retrieved was the deodorant. When I picked it up and started walking toward the other side of the store to get my son some snacks, I kept hearing a woman shouting loudly, “MA’AM! MA’AM!” The woman said it numerous times, when I noticed that all of the people in the line were looking at me, I turned around and one of the cashiers who had been in the middle of ringing out a customer was now walking quickly behind me. She came to me in front of everyone, speaking very loudly and asked me if I was done shopping and I told her no, I still had some other things to pick up. She then told me that she couldn’t allow me to walk around the store with the deodorant in my hand because there are thieves out here. I gave her a very confused look and said, what do you mean are you calling me a thief? And she said that a lot of people are thieves and then she took the deodorant from me. If you will review your surveillance video, you will notice that when I entered the store I did NOT even have a purse. I had only a small black wallet and I had on a light jacket that did NOT have any pockets on it. I also made no attempts to try and hide the deodorant. I simply picked it up because I wanted to purchase it and continue shopping in the store – like I have done for the past two years. After the woman took the deodorant and called me a thief, my nine-year-old son who was with me started asking me over and over again why the woman was calling me a thief. I was humiliated in the store by this clerk for no reason. I live in the area where the store is and have been coming to that store for at least two years now and usually I always purchase the same things, which consist of toiletries and snacks for my son after I pick him up from school. The only reason I stayed in the store was because I had promised to buy my son a snack. So I stayed to keep my promise to my son, but I did NOT buy the deodorant. I left it at the register. When I went on the other aisle to let my son choose his snack another one of the workers came on the aisle and stood around me like I was going to steal something. I was still very confused and was trying to remain calm since I had my son with me. Meanwhile as I was being treated as a criminal, both lines at the register were full. And actually the cashier that humiliated me in the store and called me a thief had been in the middle of ringing up a customer when she left abruptly to chase me down and take the deodorant from me. After I got my son’s snack and got in line to pay, the woman in front of me who had seen the entire thing, told me as she checked out that what had just happened to me was wrong and that she would no longer be shopping there. I told her that I agreed and that I also would no longer be returning to the store and that I would be contacting the manager to file a complaint. I didn’t go through the line with the cashier that accused me of stealing. When I got my receipt I asked her the name of the store manager and was told, Jennifer, and that she wasn’t in. Before I left, I also asked the cashier who called me a thief in front of the entire store with absolutely no merit, her name and she said her name was, Nessa. After leaving the store I was extremely overcome with grief, I was embarrassed and humiliated; I was upset that I had to explain to my son why the woman had treated me the way that she had treated me. I was unable to sleep that entire night and was unable to go to work the next day. I have since called the store requesting to speak with the manager and Nessa answers the phone and refuses to let me speak with her. I am now in the process of seeking an attorney to escalate this issue. Nessa should be fired and this type of treatment should unacceptable. There was nothing about my presence or my actions that insinuated that I was stealing. If you go back and look at your video you will see me on camera pick up a $1 tube of deodorant that had no purse and only a small wallet. I at no time tried to hide the deodorant; you will also see the confused look on my face as the cashier stood in front of me and spoke loudly as she accused me of being a thief. Nessa doesn’t have to allow me to speak to the manager, because I’m pretty sure my lawyer will be able to get in touch with you guys. And for the record, I am a professional Editor/Journalist of nearly15 years and I can guarantee you that what Nessa is paid by your company in 6 months’ time is still less than what I make in a month. So if you guys are having inventory issues, it’s probably due to the person who is cutting the boxes open and supposedly placing them on the shelves.

I agree with redhatter71. If you don't know the difference between "their" and "there" perhaps you were mistaken about whether the item was on sale or not. One more thing, you like a lot of other seem to mistake being told "no" as the same thing as being rude.

Dollar General no refund

Dollar General Store# 3736
3513 New Boston Rd
Texarkana, TX 75501

Incident Date: 12-29-2013

On 12-29-2013 at approximately 2:15 my daughter and myself entered the Dollar General to refund items not working/ not needed. I encountered Ms. Margie (no last name provided) for the refund. At this point the entire transaction I was attempting went completely down hill. I presented Ms. Margie with 3 items: Dramamine (unopened w/ receipt dated 11-26-2013), Surge Protector (opened w/ receipt dated 11-29-2013), and Car Charger (opened w/ receipt dated 11-29-2013). When I initially presented the items she stated she will refund the Surge Protector and Car Charger but not the Dramamine. I then asked why are you not refunding the Dramamine? She stated it is over 30 days and I don't usually take back medicine after two weeks. I then asked what is Dollar General's Policy for returns. Ms. Margie stated it is my discretion. I then asked again what is Dollar General's Refund Policy. She provided no answer and stated she could call someone. I stated to her that I will wait while she contacts her Regional Manager. Ms. Margie went to the back of the store and I wanted several several several minutes. Ms. Margie made her way back to the front of the store and stated she has called a couple different Managers and Regional Manager and she is not going to refund none of the items. Ms. Margie advised me to go to another Dollar General and refund the items. At this point, I asked for name first and last--she only provided the first and when I asked for her last name she ask me to leave the store -- while stating she has paperwork to do.

After this situation I contacted the customer service hotline (Reference# [protected]) at 2:56pm. The representative on the customer service hotline stated I would receive a call in 48 hours. It is currently passed the 48 hour time frame and I have received no call from Dollar General.

This entire situation is confusing. I simply want to make a return. I have my receipts. Ms. Margie was very unpleasant and unwilling to provide sound information regarding Dollar General's refund policy. PLEASE REVIEW THE SURVEILLANCE FOOTAGE TO SEE HER DEMEANOR AND ATTITUDE TOWARD ME THE CUSTOMER.

In addition, the associate Ms. Angie witness the entire incident.

Dollar General has dropped the ball completely when it comes to satisfying the customer
