I go to this dollar general atleast everyday. Well most of the time, the people There are very nice an always speak. But there are lots of times I've waited 15 mins on someone to come up front and check me out at the register I've had to leave line and go look for someone and still could never find them. On top of it they always have the store upside down it's a complete mess! The past few months the air conditioning has been out, they have pregnant people working There an elderly people are in and out all day. It's sad when it's cooler outside than it is in the store! Today I was in there an it was so hot I thought I was going to pass out I got really sick an light headed! Ended up leaving, I would rather stand outside in the hot sun than to be in that store where it's ten times hotter! Get it fixed for customers and employees

The ac has been broken at the store in Waterloo Illinois all summer. It’s miserable in there. I have no idea how the employees deal with it.

I work for the company as a store manager. I am fortunate enough to have a district manager whom cares and before I was promoted, My store manager worked hard and trained me well. I have heard some horror stories about other districts stores. I would like to apologize for your negative experience at that location. While I have no authority to call and say anything to them, I can explain these situations and how the store team can correct them.
1) A/C broken. At every DG there is a remotley monitored theramastat that controls the air. It is set to a predetermened temp. that store employees can not change. My guess is the SM is fairly new or not properly trained. When I took over my store, It was burning up! The way I corrected it was through DG's web based E-ticketing. Any form of manager can log into store net and make a complaint or bring the issue to the corporates attention. When I put in the ticket at my store, The company called me within 30 mins, told me that they could see that 2 out of 4 of my a/c units where not holding temp. The very next day, an ac tech came out and viola, we had air. My customers and employees were thankful. I know it isnt your job as a customer to correct this, but maybe if you brought the complaint up to management they could fix this. Since they work in the store, im sure they are misrable too and are just untrained on how to correct the issue.
2) wait time not acceptable. This is also another issue of management not being well trained at this location. The problem is the manager needs to set up a way for the employees to be alerted to the customers needing to check out. The DG puts a heavy load on the cashiers. They have stocking, recovery, plan o grams, cleaning, truck, ect. They are not allowed to stand at the register and wait for people to check out (I personally disagree with the companies approach to this, I believe someone should be readily avalible at all times to meet your needs.) What I have done to make sure that my employees are aware that they have a customer is this, I made sure my door chimes are working. It alerts me to a customers presence and I can great them as they enter and am aware there is someone in my store. This is accidently disabled at some stores because it requires 2 buttons on the alarm panel to activate/deactivate and when the closing or opening employee puts in their alarm code, it is easly mashed. I have also set up a paging system. Basically, I have a phone that isnt hooked up to a line that the employees and the manager carry on their person. There is a sign that says please push button for service, we will be with you shortyly. thank you for your business. Like I said before, I dont like not having someone there to check you out and feel its "tacky" to have to ring someone, but my regulars tell me they would rather push that lil button than to stand there shouting hello? for 10 minutes. It also helps if the cashier needs a manager to refund or void, because they can just ring us, instead of shouting. Some stores use an old bell like you see in old fashioned motels to ring for service. I prefer the pager because sometimes you cant hear that bell at the register area, but with the pagers its on my cashiers person so they guarenteed to hear you.

I work at dollar general in winnie texas. FOR TWO YEARS OUR AC HAS BEEN BROKEN. We have one of 4 units working and on any given day (2022 aug) the temp in our store is 93 or better. We have done all the proper paperwork blah blah blah. Still nothing. We are now only open from 5am- noon or sometimes 2pm. Due to the heat. Dollar general dosent care about its employees nor it's customers or the ac problems would be fixed. Our district manager dosent really care or she would be fighting harder for us. Hell I've been there a year and have never even talked to the lady. Please someone tell me who to talk to next
