I am a 74 year old retired senior.

My family physician referred me to a St. Catharines neurologist for
treatment that I have receiving from a neurologist In London. I am no
longer able to make the two hour plus each way drive from Niagara on
the Lake to London for the treatment on a regular, on-going basis.

The neurologist to whom I was referred in St. Catharines, Dr, Klimek,
told me he simply did not do that particular treatment (botox
injections to reduce the symptoms of cranial/mandibular dystonia in
Meige's Syndrome in the face and neck, with which I have been
diagnosed) and referred me to another St. Catharines neurologist named
Dr. Omar Khan, who does the treatment.

The appointment with Doctor Klimek was on June 25, 2015. I was told
that a referral would be made to a Dr. Khan, and that I would be
hearing from his office.

When I had not heard a few weeks later I called Dr. Klimek's office,
and was told that they had sent out the referral on July 2, 2015, a
week after I was there. The advice was simply for me to wait until Dr.
Khan called me.

Again a few weeks later, I called Dr, Klimek's office (since there had
been no call from Dr. Khan) and was given Dr. Khan's number for me to
try to reach him myself. I then called that number many times with the
same result each time: an answering machine came on - the phone was
never answered by anybody. I left a message three times. There was
never a call back to me.

I then advised Dr, Klimek's office of this, and they had no recourse
for me - they said it was "normal" for this kind of delay in responses
from specialists. In my experience this is not so: it is normal to
have a long delay in the actual appointment obtained, but the
specialists' offices usually respond quite quickly. Not so in the case
of Dr. Omar Khan.

It is now about 2 months without any kind of response from Dr. Khan.

Dr. Klimek's office then offered me a follow-up appointment in order
for the Doctor to make another referral. This will take place on
August 24, 2015.

As my condition requires regular and timely treatments or I may become
incapacitated, I cannot allow the vagaries of a doctor who never
answers inquiries / referrals to be my health-care provider. I have
had to return to London for the regular treatment since Dr, Khan
failed even to be in touch with me or Dr. Klimek's office.

The number I received for Dr. Omar Khan is [protected], ext 85203.

Dr. Klimek's number is [protected].

I made a personal visit to the doctor's office and so obtained an appointment within a reasonable period. There was however no explanation as to why I had not been called earlier.
