Paying to fix Their equipment

After many different issues with dish network (tech issues, billing & customer service) They want to Charge Me to fix THEIR equipment...

We have paid for satellite service through dish network for years, but the last couple years Their practices have changed. Today Their equipment had yet another issue and this time the only choice they gave me was to pay for it to get fixed ($99.00) or cancel. I have now canceled their service.
But what an ordeal...
Dish network advertises you can take your equipment with you (vacationing and such) But every time you try to hook it back up you can not get a signal. DVR or regular receiver... I have issues with both. The last couple times they have fixed it, though last time I had the hassle of sending the receiver in for a replacement. Last year they tried to bill be for a service call but did finally take it off. If the service you sell has to have a certain piece of equipment to work then they should have to make sure it is working and never charge you unless You are the one that hooked it up wrong or something.
When we first changed over to dish network years ago they were awesome - when my husband worked out of town for a few months and we could not get the satellite set to work correctly, they even sent someone to the RV park to do it for us For Free. We have recommended them numerous times, but their practices now days are not acceptable. (Did you know there was a different charge for renting movies depending on how you rent them, ie.. call in, use remote, internet...)

I have a Dish Network DVR. I have been quite happy with mine. Of course I leave mine in one spot. My first receiver lasted only one year. When replacing it, Dish Network was quite reasonable. I only had to pay $14.95 shipping and handling. This was a couple of years ago though.

Hi, this is Alicia Brink. I'm with DISH Network. I understand your frustration. When you have equipment leased through us it is still under warranty and we cover the cost to replace the equipment if needed. If a technician is required to make a home visit there is a charge for that but we will not charge you any additional fees to replace the equipment if needed. Because we understand it may be difficult for customers we do offer a service plan to help with this cost. Our service plan is like no other company out there. We have taken the needs of our customers and created a resolution for them through our service plan. Our service plan is available at any time even if you already have an existing issue. Our goal is to provide customers satisfaction.
