Devry ownes Chamberlain School of Nursing. I wish I'd known what I know today, which is that they are the same school and that they both have a bad reputation for treating their students like dirt. They are only concerned with making a profit by enrolling as many students as they can, but they have horrible customer service, are unprofessional, and the departments do not communicate among each other. Because of the lack of communication, they will mess up your financial aid and other important resouces needed to pursue an education and heaven forbid you attempt to leave, they will try to strong arm you by lying to you in your face and then messing up your records so it appears you owe money that you don't. What that does is make you come out of pocket to them as well as not be able to send a transcript to another school until that balance is paid off. In addition to that, their billing department is called a collections department and they will not work with you on payments. While you try to make unreasonable payments (as a college student), they still will not release your transcript so you have no ability to attend college unless you go back to them and continue being screwed. NEVER ATTEND DEVRY OR CHAMBERLAIN COLLEGE OF NURSING. For those who don't know, contact your local Board of Education and file a complain with the Attorney General's office. Enough people doing something about this behavior will get a response and if enough message boards go up, less students will get trapped and used by this institution.

hello I am a former student of Chamberlain an I was trying to transfer out of there for so many reason but one of the main reason is when I was leaving an trying to get my transcripts for two months they where saying I had an clinical hold on my account I'm like how I just got out of clinicals everything is up to date I called the clinical person they said I had no hold so the advisor kept saying she would take it off I still was unable to get my transcripts so when I finally talked back to her after so many attempts she said I was behind on my loan payment so we made a payment to update account still not able to get transcript I kept leaving messages for weeks I final talk to an advisor who said it was an hold on my account from last session I said how this hold just appeared out of no where my advisor made a mistake with my loan and said since I was no longer enrolled into Chamberlain the loan couldn't be paid for I said well that was your mistake not mine because when I came into her office as June 8 2016 she said it was not anything that I needed to do now they say I have to pay$2200 before I can get my transcripts I have been seeing what kind of law suite I can do to get my transcripts to start school again it has been hell dealing with them

I am resubmitting my complaint due to this website declared I had spelling errors (my spelling went down hill due to the wonderful world of medical terminology abbreviations).

I am attending this Illuminati/mind-controlling Chamberlain College of Nursing. I hold previous academic degrees: Bachelors in Biology, Masters in Public Health, and a pending Epidemiology degree. Also, I had full acceptance into many medical schools and was attending an accredited Caribbean MD school (had to withdrawal due to my father had become terminally ill and had passed away).

I am now at CCN and I have had to retake every general education course known on this planet earth (I have taken all of them except History). I have a GPA of 4.0 (which I also have had as PhD student) and I am now at CCN (for 8 months thus far) and I still have not even had the luxury of taking ONE nursing class. I have taken the MCAT for MD school and scored a 33 5 years ago. Did CCN care? Nope.

I have had to retake anatomy and physiology (I had PhD level academic courses from accredited universities in gross anatomy, microbiology, ethics, microbiology, biochemistry, organic chemistry, pharmacology, epidemiological statistics and microbiology, gross anatomy and physiology including professional laboratory dissection with human cadavers, pathophsiology, pathology, physiology, philosophy and psychology courses, etc.).

I had taken all of the required courses for the BSN for CCN but they refused 96 % (they actually took my communications, statistics [I had to appeal statistics!], and psychology 101). Retaking life span development was a waste of money (I took it at an accredited college). Then, I tell CCN I would like to CLEP out of their chemistry class due having taken up to inorganic, organic and biochemistry for medical school. They tell me "no one has attempted to ever CLEP out of chemistry. They have me take a “CLEP” exam (on their campus-- I really regret this) and I was not notified for days whether I had passed or failed. I called the College Board (government organization) and ask if they have received my CLEP exam results. They looked up my name and birthdate and stated there was no notification of a CLEP exam ever being taken!

I had informed them [the College Board for Exams] I had taken the exam at my own college campus (and found it extremely easy). Talk about being bamboozled AGAIN via CNN. Furthermore, I tried to file an appeal (because CCN claimed I “failed” the “CLEP” exam). They ignored me for days and I demanded to speak with the president of CNN and I'm connect to a manager and she states, “Oh, sorry you failed!" I further inform her the results were not submitted to the College Board for professional examinations and she states, “Oh, I’m sorry, you must have not read the 'fine' print.“ I never received any "broad" or “fine” print, whatsoever. She was extremely condescending to me. I expressed that my student loans are not lending to their school and she says, “Oh, well that’s like every student here! If you are so worried about having to retake classes and the money, you must not be committed to nursing!“ Then, I told her my I am an emergency medic; formerly a CNA, pharmacy technician, physical therapy technician (as well as my education – I admit my ego and passion for patient care and education was flaring). She’s states, “So what.“

I do not know what to do. They now put a hold on my account, therefore, I cannot transfer out of that college to a reputable and different nursing program. I keep paying and paying and paying. And this is mostly out of pocket. I am about to lose my home and the stress as put me in the emergency room (and the staff all know me at the hospital from being a medic! Talk about embarrassing!)

People, please is there anyone that would like to join in a colilation to stop this tyranny? I know the FTC is working on a current lawsuit with DeVry (Chamberlain College of Nursing is owned by them and all those general education courses were DeVry classes). I have a very deep- dark feeling Chamberlain College of Nursing are going to lose full accreditation. I would not be surprised that are going to go into academic probation. I am a former college professor (at a different accredited college) and know this is a serious situation.

I am thinking of going the route of Attorney General, (maybe FBI) and also the US Department of Education. I know that there is something fraudulant going forth with said CCN and DeVry College. I may try to reach out to Congress (Trey Gowdy would be my first choice!).

I am willing to join you. They are considered a for-profit school and the state in which you live, the Board of Education is who governs them. I have spoken to the one in my state, and the school has to follow their "Student Handbook" like a contract! They use it as they see fit. They treat you like children. I am also a student who comes with a previous BA degree from a well named, accredited University. There is no consistency in the school, some are granted things while others are not!

On my daughter's last tuition bill from DeVry, there was a $646 charge for "Med Ins Prem" on September 10. I called to inquire what it was and was told they sent my daughter an email on September 4 that she needed to "opt out" of a medical insurance plan or they would charge her for it. They refuse to reverse the charge, even though my daughter did not technically sign up for the insurance. Is this even legal?

The truth speaks for itself when you have more people complaining about the school than you have people complementing the school. I have been attending Chamberlain since May of 2015 and I wished I would of searched around before ever stepping a foot into this school. I have a previous BA degree from a well know state university and I have never had to deal with such crap as I have had to deal with this school The instructors, for the most part are great but there are a few that are not worth speaking about. They speak about "Chamberlain Care" and the faculty is all about their instructors more so than what the students need or have to say. The only reason I have not left to finish my degree somewhere else is because no other "real" university will not accept any of their nursing courses I have already taken. The money I have spent going here, I have almost doubled what I had to spend to get my first BA. That says enough right there! You will have people who will love this school and there are people who can't wait to finish because they are not treated with the same respect as the faculty wants to be treated. We are all adults!

Go To YouTube--Devry University Criminal Report

Devry University has been officially proven to be committing fraud, and illegal lending practices. They defrauded the government for billions in student loans. The more students they have the more money they get. Unfortunately the Education is bull, they have fake professors, non experience, deans who will initiate political slurs, slander and defamation about anyone who exposes them. I have friends who were fired and other who expelled. What does Devry call someone who reveals the truth or speak out "hostile behavior" and they threaten you with arrest. I have gone to numerous interviews and I ### you not, on of them was a La Vern Universtiy professor who started laughing and telling me that Devry is a paper mill. In the educational community they are not repected including their professor who get paid alot and my friend who worked their also released an anknowledgment stating that employees are not allowed to disclose any business operations. WHY BECAUSE THE STUDENTS WILL REALIZE THEY ARE GETTING RIPPED OFF. I have a $50, 000 debt with $40, 000 in interest. $90, 000 on average. DODGE DEVRY DONT LISTEN TO THEIR ILLEGAL RECRUITING TACTICS. THE FBI AND THE DOE HAVE FOUND THEIR RECRUITING TACTICS TO BE MISLEADING. FOR EXAMPLE DEVRY IS IN AREAS OF MIDDLE CLASS COLORED DEMOGRAPHICS AND GHETTOS. THEY LURE YOU IN WITH A PRESENTATION AND PROMISES OF CAREERS WITH THEIR CAREER CENTER.

Their career center gave me a piece of paper that said "careerbuilder.com, monster.com, I was in shock two web sites are you serious. I went to their career days open house HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH no companies show up the ones who show up are the cops, and border patrol who are hiring. It is a pathetic fake mirage that is sold for billions of dollars for the filthy jews who own Devry.

I was just finishing my 6th semester a DeVry, and getting ready to schedule for my 7th, when I was told one of the classes I needed would no longer be offered on campus because not enough students signed up for it, three I think. I talked to the dean of the degree I was pursing and he told me I could take the class on-line, and that online classes were easy to follow and even more well structured than their on-campus equivalents. I trusted what he said and went ahead and signed up for two online classes, one for data base programming and the other for signal processing. The first week of class when I logged I found a link to an online book I was supposed to read, and read the assigned chapters for that week. I then looked at the lecture page, and to my surprise is was no more than 250 words long. I tried emailing the professors of the respective classes to see if perhaps I was missing something or doing something wrong, but it wasn't until 2 weeks later that one emailed me back, and the other never did. After a week of not receiving a reply from either of the professors I decided to drop the class(makes it as if I never signed up for it) so that I would not be charged for it, at which point I was told I was too late, and that the class could only be dropped in the first week. In short, DeVry Online classes are a complete ripoff. The professors in the on-campus are always well prepared and cover the material with a through lecture totaling 2-3 hours a week, but the lectures for online-classes are basically non-existent. The only learning materials I was given was a book to read and whatever comments my classmates made on the class forums. If I wanted to learn by reading a book, then I wouldn't pay $3500 to some university. I basically shelled out $3500 to have DeVry recommend two books for me to read. What a ripoff.

First of all, the little admissions counselor flat out laughed at me when I told her I graduated high school in 2005 and didn't give me time to explain I have attended college before. While she's laughing she said & I quote 'Why did you wait so long?" I guess she was so happy to tell me she was earning a masters from that school or whatever...who cares!

Secondly, they wouldn't not explain in full detail about the tuition rates and other fees I'd be charged. They were too busy trying to sell me B$ about things I didn't ask about. I didn't get a full answer until now and that's why I'm here.

If you go to the school's website it say that any credit hours 6 or less would be at a rate of $609 & anything 7+ would be a mere $365. Now, to the average student, that means if I take more or less credit hours the amount charged PER CREDIT HOUR would be calculated accordingly...WRONG! Don't get played like they tried to do me.

According to them, this means if you're taking more than 7+ hours, the first 6 will be at a rate of $609, and the 7 or above will be at $365! They're charging you twice! I told the finance rep that but he said they weren't...are you serious?

Two classes for 8 weeks should not have a tuition fee of almost $4500 and it's not an Ivy League school or something. That's just the tuition other charges they come up with to stick you with. This makes no sense people.

I can't wait to start classes back at my old university. I had 36 credit hours there and only 12 transferred to this greedy a$$ university.

POTENTIAL STUDENTS BEWARE!

I took an HSM class last session. My grade was a 92%, somehow the transmission of the paper didn't go through. I waited for the grade not knowing that the paper didn't go through. I contact the professional, she refused to grade the paper. The finals grades haven't come out and I can't drop the class. I took the finale Sat and started the next class. About time she grades everything it will be too late to drop and now all classes are closed. What ever happen to a week in between, enough time to get the grade. I'm not on financial aid. The instructors don't work with the student, it's about the money.

I just finished my second degree with Chamberlain. I originally signed on for the RN-BSN-MSN bridge. Work circumstances forced me to finish the BSN sooner than later and the bridge does not award a BSN until the MSN portion is complete. I had to drop out of MSN, reapply to BSN to take the useless Capstone, graduate (that was its own pain), and then reapply to the MSN. They made that process extremely tedious and annoying. About two months after graduating with the BSN portion and regrettably resuming the MSN, I received a call to inquire why I had not signed up for BSN classes. It is a year later, and I am still upset by that. In January of this year, for no apparent reason, Chamberlain changed my status to part time, causing a surprise $1500 bill less than a week before it was due. I was full time all along and the apology could be summed up as "oops...my bad." They did nothing to fix the issue. The school does not follow through with promises. If they set an appointment to call, they will not. Setting up the practicum was unnecessarily tedious. Yesterday, I completed the Capstone for the MSN portion and today I received an email that financial aid disbursed to my account for more than twice the amount I had previously received. I am graduating and do not have courses set up; they so far cannot explain why this happened.

I have been attending CCN since the fall of 2009; obtaining my RN-BSN, and now my MSN in the FNP track. I have had a few bumps in the road with the school, but not above what may potentially occur at any institution or what a person could expect when conducting business over the phone. Overall, the instructors are enthusiastic and knowledgeable in their respective areas. They generally offer prompt attention to correspondence and answers to questions.

Last year, I took an 8 week session off as I had just delivered my baby, and was charged no extra tuition. In fact, it did not affect my financial aid negatively at all. It is a little more expensive than some programs, but all in all, I have talked to other PAs and NPs; all have approximately the same amount of student loan debt that I will have coming from CCN.

Additionally, I have personally worked with CCN BSN-campus graduates and my previous ICU manager was also a graduate of CCN's RN-BSN program. This manager was over a Level 1 Regional Trauma Center in Illinois. Clearly their degrees from Chamberlain have paid off for them. For myself, I have never wanted for work as a CCN BSN alum. When people hear of my studies through CCN to become an FNP, I hear nothing but "congratulations!". Chamberlain was originally named, "Deaconess College of Nursing" and originally based in St. Louis, MO. I am from near that region and anytime someone has not heard of Chamberlain; I tell them the previous name and the light bulb moment shortly follows. I get responses such as, "Oh yeah, that is a good nursing school." They were started by a group of Sisters from Germany in the 1800s. I believe the same sisters that started "Hospital Sisters Health System", which is a group of hospitals and clinics throughout Wisconsin and Illinois.

While the affiliation with DeVry might initially seem off-putting to some, I have never had a serious problem with CCN. They have always worked with me when needed, the instructors are usually supportive and enthusiastic about my success, and there is a history of successful students coming from this school. I hope this has helped in any decisions that you may be making. I graduate in June with my MSN-FNP. Without CCN, I would not be able to say that!

One last thing: I attended Georgetown University for a period of time prior to my MSN studies at CCN (had to take a hiatus from school due to family turmoil and lost my place), and they used the same books for Advanced Patho. My friend attended The University of St. Francis for her FNP and I borrowed her Evidence-Based Practice text for my master's level research course through CCN, as my course required the same text. Clearly CCN is using up to date curriculum and quality methods as the course materials are the same in these instances.

PLEASE BE AWARE OF THESE TYPE OF GREEDY COLLEGES! THEIR AIM IS TO MAKE MONEY OUT OF YOU, NOT TO GIVE EDUCATION. DON'T EVEN CALL THEM TO GET INFORMATION. RATHER TO GIVE INFORMATION THEY WILL BE INTERESTED TO GET YOUR 60$ AS APPLICATION FEE AND WILL TALK TO YOU AS IF YOU WERE SELCTED AND ENROLLED FOR THE CLOSE. ESPECIALLY INTERNATIONAL GRADUATES BEWARE OF CALLING FOR INFO. THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO HANDLE INTERNATIONAL GRADUATE PROCESSING. THOSE 60$ ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. JUST CALCULATE HOW MUCH MONEY THEY SHOULD BE GETTING FROM PEOPLE WHO WANTS TO GET AN INFORMATION.

Something terrible happened to me, and I didn't want this happening to anyone else. Well, if this did happen, I hope a fair solution is made. I passed their exams with a 76% and higher, but because of their unexplained and not-communicated assignment, I failed one of their courses. They had told us from the beginning this assignment wouldn't hurt a student's grade, but it would help raise it up. Therefore, it had sounded like this was an extra credit assignment. Anyway I couldn't do the assignment because I got sick in that week it was offered, and the professor couldn't even get me any information about the assignment because it had two parts. It had a workshop(second part of the assignment) for those who did the first part of the assignment to go over the questions they got wrong. In addition, the school had told us that if you didn't do the first part of the assignment, then you weren't eligible for the second part of the assignment, so you wouldn't get the100 points. I asked my professor multiple times if I went to the workshop if I will get the points because I had a valid reason why I missed the first portion of the assignment; she kept saying she will get the information. However, she never got back to me even on the night before the workshop. In addition, I didn't even know they had a makeup for the first part of the assignment on that day I went to make up the class lecture I missed, the professor never mentioned a word to me. The only excuse one of the administrators I sought about this issue could come up with was that I should I have talked to the other students, this was about accountability. Of course, it's not their fault, but my fault. I told this administrator, this was unfair because I was passing my exams anyway and this course was already hard as it is and to me that was good, but then he said 77% isn't that good enough. First of all, 76% is what you need to pass the exams, so 77% was good enough for me. If I got a 100% average in the future, good for me, but right now I'm grateful for getting a 77% average in Adult Health. However, because I didn't do the assignment because of lack of the information, it put my average of the whole class below a 76%.
This assignment wasn't communicated very well between staff and I would bet the school knows this. They should have explained this assignment more and told us if things had changed whether it was a counted assignment. It would have made a difference because, probably, my professor would have told me about the make up of the first part of the assignment.
I was so happy with this school with their rules and regulations because I thought they were fair, but this was inconsistent with their rules and regulations because it was unfair no matter how much they try to make it look like it's the student's fault or with whatever excuse they come up with. I'm just glad I'm letting somebody else out there know about this. I will just keep appealing about this because it is very ridiculous and unfair.

I have been attending Chamberlain College of Nursing for the past two years and will be starting year 3 on Monday. I have not experienced any issues with rude staff, incorrect billing, or hidden costs of the program. I am taking the MSN program online and it is actually less stressful than my associates degree or bachelor's degree nursing programs. Chamberlain is upfront regarding the tuition and they do offer payment plans for those who don't want the big financial aid bill at the end of their program. I have attended 8 classes and had ONE instructor who was not flexible. Regarding the comment of the student who missed a test, the syllabus, which is available 1 week before the class starts, identifies when exams will be held. If a student has a conflict they can notify the instructor PRIOR to the exam so arrangements can be made.

Online programs are not for everyone and you have to be organized and committed to your class in order to succeed. I HIGHLY recommend both Chamberlain College of Nursing and DeVry. They organize their classes to make everything easier for the student to succeed and they are very easy to work with and upfront regarding costs, etc.

I enrolled in the class on September 2, 2014 because the person over the phone told me I still had available time to register and take the math placement test. She never enrolled me for the test so I called back on September 3, 2014 and she told me I was misinformed and I no longer have time to take the test. So I dropped out of the courses I was currently enrolled in and the lady over the phone told me I might be charge $150 for the student service fee. After A month I logged into my account and saw I was charged $406. I called student financing and they explained all different fees I was getting charged for. I informed them that if I was told this from the beginning I would not have dropped the course. He referred me to someone "Higher up" that explained to me that I will still be getting charged $406 and the person who spoke to me on the phone the first time was a new person and not aware of what she was doing, and that is the policy regardless of their mistakes I still have to pay $406.

I currently attend Chamberlain and am pleased. I have taken 6 classes and have 4 more to finish my BSN. I love the class style. It is asynchronous which means I can login at my convenience. The professors have been fair. I have had no issues with the financial aid department either. I would highly recommend this school.

I currently attend Chamberlain for their RN-to-BSN program. I have taken 6 classes so far and have 4 more to go for my degree. I am pleased. I think the classes are interesting and the professors responsive. As far as the cost, it is expensive but I have not had any troubles with the financial aid department.

I'm a current Chamberlain student graduating this April. I have been with Chamberlain for a whole year now. I had very mild problems with customer service, and I would say they were the kind of problems that I would have with any schools. Only one of their customer service people was rude to me, but all of the others were nothing but wonderful. I think every school have a couple of people who are rude...Overall, I strongly recommend this school. My experience has been very positive. The teachers are wonderful and the school website functions properly. It is very easy to use it. I'm learning things on a very fast pace. I took some of the classes from DeVry, and it was harder than University of Phoenix, but I still liked it better. When comparing online schools, I think Chamberlain and DeVry are the best, but they are very expensive. I chose Chamberlain because I graduated with my associate 20 years ago, and they accepted all of my classes, so I didn't have to retake anything. Anyway, I thought I would give them a positive input. They are a wonderful school, and deserve that. I'm hoping to get my certificate or diploma on time, since I'm applying to graduate school. That is the only thing that worries me. They took a little longer than my other schools to send the transcripts, but once I complained they sent it right away. I'm also applying yo their masters program. For my initial admission, I worked with Candace. She was amazing. I strongly recommend her. Good luck choosing a school.

Horrible! Am in second term at CCN, getting good grades in classes I attend on campus. Have one online English course that has been plagued by tech problems, assignments done but not uploaded to instructor type of things. Can still see them in my Dropbox online. As a result, grade in this class not good. Sent email to instructor asking her why she isn't grading my work and got no reply.

This week got email that not only are they dropping me from this class before end of term, they are bouncing me from the entire nursing program because according to them I have not been " attending" the online class (again, my work is sitting in their system ungraded to this very day). This violates their own handbook as there was no warning, just an automatic withdrawal despite high grades in other classes. Advising Department is no help at all trying to get this straightened out.

I will appeal this but quite honestly I really don't care if I go back if this is how they do business. My mom works for local television station in Chicago and has talked to their consumer reporter about this as it appears to be some sort of scam. They are investigating it now. Another girl from one of my classes last term just posted on her Facebook that they kicked her out this week too for unsatisfactory attendance for same online class despite having done all assignments which like mine are still sitting ungraded in the course Dropbox. Beware of Chamberlain, they really do screw their students over!

All I can say is that its sad when you physically see students at CCN taking tests as a group. Would you trust your family member to this style of integrity by a nurse?

Before I write this, let me say that I am NOT an easy person to please. I can find anything to complain about. With that being said, I have attended Chamberlain for my RN, BSN and now my MSN. Aside from a few little bumps in the road, which were fixed to my satisfaction and in a timely manner, I have really enjoyed my experience. I wouldn't have continued to go here for all 3 degrees if not. It has always been made VERY clear what is expected of the students and reminders are always sent about when things are due. I have only ever had a couple issue with teachers and when I did, I brought this to the school's attention and they reviewed the situation and "ruled" accordingly. I have read some of the above statements and I find that people are complaining about things that they may not know about. If you know how to use your student portal, you can very easily track your finances, bill by bill, refund by refund, etc. And if you are complaining about the way they handled you not turning in an assignment or test on time, they make it VERY clear about this. Chamberlain is pretty cut and dry with policies, and remind you each session about these in your syllabus. I have missed turning in one assignment because I forgot about it and lost points but that was no one's fault but my own.

Like someone else said, online classes aren't for everyone. They require an additional level of responsibility that in-class courses may not. As for me, I will continue my third degree with Chamberlain.

I would not recommend CCN to anyone. This educational institution is a joke. I believe the financial department is not handling student finances in an orderly fashion, and I truly wonder if everything they post on the student portal is true. I can't track where all of my student loans disbursed, where the "refund" checks went, and why a balance continues to appear after a couple of days of a zero balance. The teams do not work together, they don't have a clue what is going on with your account, and lastly, will not let you speak with anyone of authority. I am looking into further legal action related to harrassement, fraud, and mispresentation. Food for thought, the PASS option is not an option to help the student, CCN will still get their money even after a posting and approval of this option. Best advice, don't go to CCN/DeVry. Choose a reputable local university to pursue your nursing degree. My BSN that I just received from CCN has not taught me a darn thing, except how to write an APA formatted report, that all instructors do not even know what is right or wrong.

This is incredible. I am helping a student try to straighten out her fiancial records with Devry/Chamberlain. I am a CPA and it appears Devry is defrauding her our of literally $12, 000 and she just started in the fall of 2012. Furthermore, the school charged her tuition while she was off with a broken back. I suggest absolutely no one give them authorization to automatically withdraw tuition from their credit card or bank account.

Is anyone willing to reach out to me, regarding this matter (former, no matter how long ago or present student, or even recently graduated) ?
I'm presently considering my options in addressing this same situation (legal recourse). Thank you.

I am finishing MY MSN through Chamberlain. I have 4 classes left, and I have had no problems whatsoever. The admission team actually calls me once a semester to check in and see if I need anything. I did my LPN at a community college, my RN/BSN at a state university, my previous BA online at a private school, and now this. I find Chamberlain to be completely professional and fair. If you miss a deadline, it's your fault-plain and simple. Get over it; we all make mistakes, but you can't blame the school for that. They have made it very clear from day one when everything is due.
I'm also teaching LPN students at a small technical school in the Loop (Chicago) so I see things from both perspectives (student and teacher). Online is not for everyone; you need to be self-motivated or you won't make it. Some people are better suited going to class.

This is a great school. I never had any problems, and graduated just fine. I am currently working in my field, and unlike some of my friends who attended a subpar nursing school, I passed my NCLEX exam the first time! The must've done something right.

I also have been a student at Chamberlain School of Nursing for one year. I am a graduate student working on the Executive Tract MSN. This is the second graduate school I have attended and by far, this is the fairest school I have attended. I can also buy my books from them through their bookstore. The books are either the same or cheaper from any other place I have purchased textbooks. The class I have now, does not require a textbook. The payment schedule is manageable as they allow payments and allow one to continue with the classes as scheduled. Everyone from the student advisers, financial office and professors have been excellent to work with. I am maintaining a 4.o average and enjoy the interactions, information from the class and professors, in a non-aggressive environment. I am looking forward to continuing and finishing this step of my education at Chamberlain School of Nursing while fulfilling my responsibilities as RN, BSN at the hospital.

FYI, Chamberlain School of Nursing was a successful, private school of nursing for many years. the quality of education they provide has not been tainted because of their association with Devry, as some imply. Devry is successful in their own right and the business classes I have taken for my degree tract, have been nothing but professional, educational and respectful. I would recommend, if you are a self starter and have initiative, The Devry and Chamberlain College of Nursing are schools you can succeed at.

I have been a student at Chamberlain for one year now. I have had no problems with them. I find the professors to be fair and they all have impressive teaching resumes. Many of them also teach at other well known and respected universities. I get bored very easily with college classes and usually feel like they are more of a high school level than a college level. Chamberlain classes, I feel, are definitely college level classes.

In defense of the school, they post the rubric and course requirements and dates. The dates of tests or papers are clearly made known and from my experience, they are even spoken about in the discussion and assignments. It would be difficult to miss the date of the test or paper unless you just did not read the assignment or syllabus. They even say, that absolutely no late submissions will be accepted, however, my professor was kind enough to allow me to late submit a paper when I had to go out of town for family business.

I absolutely love the online classes because I can work at my leisure around my work schedule. The course work is not unreasonable. I feel like the courses are geared to adult learners, but as I mentioned above, that does not mean they are "bunny" classes.

The BBB does not arbitrate complaints. They are simply a service to the public to allow complaints to be filed. If you read Chamberlain's record with the Better Business Bureau, you will find they only have two complaints. They were resolved. The BBB also notes if a business of comparable size has the same or more complaints and Chamberlain does not.

It is not true that Chamberlain expects payment before classes are taken. I am not eligible for scholarships or grants and am paying out of pocket. They are kind enough to break the amount down into workable payments. These payments do have a due date each month, which could be what one person is talking about when they said the amount is due before class. Would you get a new car and expect to drive it without making a payment? Lets be fair here.

There are always two sides to every story and then the truth. I urge anyone who is considering Chamberlain, to speak with alumni. People are more likely to complain than to post something good about a business. For every complaint listed here, there are more than likely 10 times that number in satisfied students of which I am one of them.

I too went though the RN to BSN program. I dropped the Statistics class the first week as it was not geared toward nurses and was worse than the ones offered at the 4 year universities in Portland, Oregon. I was initially told I could by the advisor, who also shared she had to take the DeVry stat class 3 times before passing. I have a very good GPA and told her I did not want to mess with my GPA. I then got a bill for the class. We complained and reached an agreement of being able to drop the class, or so I thought. WhenI called for my transcript for ANCC acreditation credits, I was told my account was on hold. I would get an e-mail of who to contact and the nature of the problem, as I was at work and need to follow up the next day. I never recieved the e-mail. No surprise! I would really not recommend this school. Go to another one with less issues and complaints. I have heard that DeVry has been investigated before. I wish I had known. I spent a lot of money and nothing to show for it!

BEWARE... My best advice is DO NOT TAKE Chamberlain or Devry on line courses unless you are a glutten for stress, frustration and have money to burn... I wish I had researched further before attending Chamberlain. They made everything so simple to sign up and worked with my employer scholarships, evern retrieved my transcripts from my previous college. They cost over $500 a credit Hour / each class semester ( 8 weeks long) avergaes 4 credit hours and I am now told this will go up to almost $600 credit hour in July. PLEASE shop around Ohio Weslyan is a litle high but not as high as Chamberlain/Devry and are well worth the investment. Everyone I have talked to has been extremely pleased. Chamberlain was so customer friendly UNTIL I signed the dotted line. I have incured all these hidden costs that my scholarship is not paying for. I have an excellent scholarship through my employer and STILL I have paid over $10, 000 out of pocket and only barely through the first year. Hidden costs acrue every semester. I signed a study plan January 2010 and was told that this was a binding contract. My fees would not go up once I signed. NOW, I am told credit hours will go up by almost $60 (That is $240 for an average 4 credit hour class) AND that this is in addition to my current plan of study. So... it is a binding contract for me but./... not for Chamberlain. So they are not my financial advisors they are Chamberlains financial advisors making them extremeyl wealthy people. Every 8 week semester I have to call and work out the confusion with my billing statement seemingly a different person everytime digging in my personal infromation. I constantly REMIND their billing department (whom Chamberlain calls my financial advisor) not to add late fees because my contract / scholarship through work states that they get paid once class ends and my grade for that class is submitted and this was agreed upon. In addition they sign you up for multiple future classes at a time and expect payment BEFORE you even take the class. Your personal private information is in the hands of a minimum of as many as 10 academic advisors and 10 financial advisors at any given time with their names constantly changing due to heavy turnover in their staff. Beware. I wish I had done more research. It is all over the net complainst about Chamberlain / Devry.
My next step was to file with better business bureau but found others have had the same luck as you and they do not react to comlaints.

I have had the same problem with DeVry as what is listed here. It started when they set my finance plan monthly payment too low which caused me to quickly fall behind and owe them a large chunk of money. Instead of adjusting my payment total they told me to go get a private loan to use to counter the mounting costs for their education. This was probably the worst thing I could have done but desiring to continue my education I got a private loan and paid off my balance with them and had enough to pay the next session off as well. Well that was the plan until one of their brilliant minds figured out my CoA wrong (Cost of attendance). The entire loan I had from Sallie Mae (private) was sent back to the lender and they left me a balance with their company (even though they had the money to pay it). By then the private loan industry went into the tank and I was unable to get another one. So now I was left with an enormous debt with DeVry and no means to pay it. I turned them into the Better Business Bureau of Illinois which was an utter joke because they did nothing but offer to arbitrate it (for a fee of course). So now I am in the hole with DeVry, can't get a loan, the BBB was useless, and out of principle I just flat out refused to pay DeVry. They mismanaged my financial aid, set up a payment plan that didn't work and threatened to freeze me, and when they got the aid they didn't figure out CoA properly and left me in debt with their company. It has since gone to a collection company and the best part is they are still holding my transcripts hostage even though they farmed out their self-generated debt to a collection company. Stay AWAY from DeVry if you know better, I have been to other online schools who did not remotely have these sort of business practices... They are a disgrace and I wish some agency would shut them down or make them transparent to their student body.

Got an even worse problem with them, they played games with me and my financial aid for a year, now I owe somewhere around $10, 000 to them, and of course they wont let me go back to finish, they won't give me a transcript. My monthly payment they have set me up for is $1030 a month, which I told them that I do not even make that much a month. The dean told me that I would benefit from some counseling, and that I can NOT afford them. Never had a problem with any school before. I filed a complaint with the Attorney General's office today.
If anyone else would like to get the info together and try to go against them as a group please E-mail me: MirelaB321@aol.com
They treat the students like dirt, are very unprofessional and need to be stopped.
