This was not just the worst moving experience for me (and I have moved many times before), but it was easily, hands down the worst consumer experience I have ever had. It was the equivalent of consumer rape. And it could happen to you too. I read Kathryn from Pittsburgh's report and wished that I had checked this site out before going with Destination Movers. The similarities are uncanny. So much so that I just cut and pasted the beginning part from her because that part was spot on. I bet we even had the same lazy, fat truck driver who showed up a full day late, an Israeli guy named 'Ben'. More on him in a bit. It made me realize these guys keep pulling this scam on people over and over, a pattern, not a coincidence.

Our experience started with a phone conversation with Erika. She was nice enough and after a 'careful' assessment gave us an estimate for our cross country move around $11, 500. We were told that we would have 6 movers pack and load our stuff in a single day, starting in the morning. We made plans accordingly (flight, rental cars, etc.). When the big day arrived, no movers. That's when the nightmare began.

About 12 hours after promised, three people showed up in a 17 foot box truck with no name on the truck. They did not have a single packing supply! This sleazy guy named Shookie seemed surprised that we did not have all the boxes and tape they would need. They actually had to drive to Lowe's to get the stuff, delaying us further. One of the workers could not speak a word of english; the third mover was Shookie's buddy from Israel who was visiting America on vacation. He weighed about 130 lbs wet and had never packed a house up before. They started that evening and could not finish. They started again the next morning after going back to Lowe's for more supplies. Finally the second day Ben arrives in his 18 wheeler and they start loading stuff up. They had not finished by midnight, so Ben hires 3 underage neighborhood kids that happen to be walking down the road to help load our stuff on his truck. At 2 AM they are still not finished, but I have to leave to drive 4 hours and catch a flight early the next morning. So essentially I get strong armed by Shookie into signing the inventory, only to find out later that that 'estimate' is now $17, 000.

Throughout this nightmare we dealt with several Destination Movers crooks and cronies. Max was the first moron we had to deal with, but we quickly figured him to be a moron and asked for someone in charge. We then a powerless guy named Urine or Urime, something like that. He was always whining 'I don't make the decisions'. Finally we talk to Ruben, not unlike Kathryn did, and let me tell you, this guy is a professional c--k-sucker. This is the kind of guy who would steal from his impoverished mother then laugh about it later. He told me he would drop my stuff off in a warehouse in Chicago if I did not pay the full amount. And he was such a bastard about it, very condescending. Seriously, what choice do you have at that point. These guys get your balls in hand and squeeze as hard as they can. They are really evil men. I don't think I have ever used that word to describe someone before, but I mean it.

A week later after sweating it out and going back and forth numerous times with Ruben, the Hitler of moving companies, we get our stuff delivered. Stuff is smashed, and Ben rushes the unloading part such that stuff gets pushed into the house walls and takes big dents out of them. One of our box springs to a king size bed is missing, yes an entire box spring. And Ben unloads someone else's nice asian rug into our house without realizing it until we tell him.

I love the Destination Movers employee response to this lady Kathryn of Pittsburgh, 'shady customer'. What bullshit. And their internet sites and on-hold phone message claim to provide great service, 100% guaranteed. More bullshit. These guys are serial scammers. They lie about the estimate, then provide the most unprofessional service possible, then extort you using your hard earned possessions to get a lot more money out of you. You have been warned, do not let this happen to you.

These people are terrible and i am sorry to say a little relieved that i was not the only one this has happened to and we probably wont be the last. I had a similar experience as you only we never saw our stuff be picked up so i don't know if it was a fat fuck or some dumb ass hole picking up my stuff. max is the biggest douche of them all and Rubens is the biggest pussy of them all. its really a loose loose situation with these people.
