DealTree Trading scam

Sent them a great camera...only for them to tell me it has 0 value, and that I'd have to pay $19.30 to have it returned to me. They never intended to pay for it in the first place. And they knew the postage to get it back was ski-high. I am very angry at this whole siutation. What is worse, because I thought I was getting $32 value on my camera I bought a brand NEW kodak camera. I lost the camera, or I lose $19.30 postage, and I lose the price of the newer camera that I never would have purchased had it not been for dealtree's con advertisement.

I read the "terms" advertised on dealtree.com's Kodak Digital Camera trade-in website. I find it hard to believe that this company (owned by BEST BUY would really want to steal your camera, especially if its only worth $19.

It seems reasonable to me that if you represented your camera accurately, they would have paid you for it. You didn't say if the camera your traded-in was a DIGITAL camera, but I assume it was, and you simply mis-quoted the item.

DealTree Fraud and scam

I got 2 Sony Playstation 3's from a company on ebay.com with the User names sold_broken and 2ndturn. On the description of both Sony Playstation 3's they claimed they where Playstation 3's with the Mfg Item Number: 98000 witch is the 60 gig model or model number CECHA01, The only model of PS3 with the capability of playing Playstation, Playstation 2, and Playstation 3 games.

I ordered the first Playstation 3 on December 24 2008. When it came to my house it was not the model that I asked one was model CECHH01 or the 40 gig model. So I called them up asking to talk to a supervisor to ask for to talk to but none seemed to be in so I left a message on the voice mail. she never called me back. So I called again the next day I talked to the Operator on the phone he said that we where busy during Christmas and this kind of thing never has happened before so try again on e-bay.

About a week later I did what the operator told me to do I got another PS3 on ebay with the same Mfg Item Number: 98000 in the description But when this one came in the mail it was still the wrong model, with the model number CHEHG01 another 40 gig model.

They said they would take a return but that would cost me $80.00 in shipping fees. I understand that they where ether broken beyond repair or just needed hard drives go get working again but however they would not guarantee a direct exchange for the one I ordered and no refund on my return shipping.

I bought a digital High-Def Camcorder on U-Bid auction web site from DealTree. They sold it as used but claimed it was thoroughly tested & it came in original box with unopened software, new manual & cables. It did not have a scratch on it, so i felt ok to buy, but when i tried to use it, it did turn on, but that was all. None of the buttons worked & it would not take any pictures at all. There is NO WAY they tested it, even a child could tell that nothing worked. So They Outright LIED ! Now i know why they accepted my low bid, It would be to costly & time consuming to send it back to DealTree & i have read up on complaints on their customer service being the worst. So i will have to eat it on this one. If IT Dosnt Have A Manufacturers Warrenty, DONT BUY FROM DEALTREE !

DealTree Terrible experience

I did my transaction through Eztradein.com, which is owned by Dealtree. All my subsequent dealings were with Dealtree so that is why my review is here. Eztradein is Dealtree's service which buys back used electronics. I sent them a laptop, which had a quoted value of $200. I selected to receive a check and shipped my laptop. Upon receipt I got an e-mail that the hinge was cracked and it's value was only $99. There is no way it was cracked when I sent it, and there is no way it happened during shipping. My laptop was covered by foam on all sides, and packed very tightly with packing peanuts... nothing could have touched it.

So I emailed them back and said forget it, ship my laptop back to me. There is no way that the laptop value could be cut in half due to a crack, it still functions the same (even dead ones on eBay were going for $150). I'm also suspecting sabotage... but I just didn't want to deal with them anymore.

A few days later, I get the $99 via Paypal (I selected check), on top of that, they had already gave me a tracking number for sending back my laptop! So they paid me for an item they didn't have anymore. Wow. I decided not to say anything about the money until I had my laptop in hand.

I got my laptop back, and the restore and driver discs were missing, Great. Also it was packed HORRIBLY, just loose bubble wrap. The corner was slightly caved in causing the DVD drive to not open correctly. And the aforementioned giant hinge crack was there. Again, it's in their favor to not pay what it's worth, that crack could have been placed there after I canceled the deal. What they should have done is kept my box and let me file an insurance claim with UPS in the first place. But of course they were so incompetent to have lost my discs they wouldn't have thought of that.

As soon as I emailed them about my missing discs, they notice the payment, and ask for the laptop back or a refund. I told them no way, give me my discs, and you can have your money back.

Of course they e-mailed and said that they found the restore disc but lost the drivers disc. WHY. WERE. THEY. SEPARATED? That's just insane. The discs go with that computer, what kind of ###s run this place? They ended up sending me my restore disc, which I don't think is the original one I sent, but whatever, it works. I gave them the ultimatum that they either provide me with my driver disc, or I keep $10 of the money that they incorrectly sent me.

Long story short, I sent them a laptop which they not only devalued by what I believe is damage on their part, they devalued it by losing my drivers disc, and costing me $20 to have it sent back to me. It made me sick sending them their refund when I should keep it for the damage they did to my laptop.

Avoid at all costs, they have no sense of organization. Their customer service was fast to respond but all in all I was just appalled at the lack of care for my merchandise!

DealTree has trade-in program for video games. They advertise on their site at Best Buy that trade-ins can be cancelled if 1. no gift card has been issued, and 2. no processing has occurred. I satisfied both of these criteria. I sent trade-in cancellation emails on 26Dec. I called DealTree at 9:33 am 29Dec to ask about the status of cancellation, and the rep said that would not be a problem after she looked at the status of the items. Subsequently, i recieved an email from representative who said i could not cancel the trade-in because video games are sent to a third party. There is no mention of this in the TOS that I re-read. Even if it was in the TOS, their website above lead me to believe that I would be able to cancel the trade-in. I am very unhappy with this response, and after getting back on the phone with them 30 min wait time (wonder if they have caller id and were screening) their response was 'why did you send it in for trade if you didn't wan to trade it in?' horrible that companies like this are allowed to survive.

Deal Tree is one of the most under handed and disgusting Companies online or

in person. It does not matter if you pick up the product or if they ship it

to you. YOU WILL BE CHARGE the shipping fee. If you Purchase 1 item they

charge you a fee if buy 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 or more they will charge you a

fee for each item. You will not receive any price break on this scam.

Don't waste your time calling you will be on hold for a very long time

most of the time it longer than an Hour or longer. When this company get

done with all of their Credit Card Like Charges You will do Just as well

Going to a regular Retailer.

I tried paying for my iPod that I won on EBay. The company kept refunding my money and told me that I had a PO box on my account. When I replied explaining that I do not have a PO Box on my account they pretty much told me I was lying (I gave them my actual address several times). So I went to their site and changed my address on their site. But they still said I had a PO Box. After a few email exchanges they decided to get (I guess the person with the worse attitude) to call me. This chick left a very rude message on my phone and followed up with an even more rude email. Here is the problem if you have my correct phone number then you should have my correct address (right?). Either way it goes I refuse to give my money to company that is playing games. Because if they are going to play games like this then what type of product am I going to get? I have never had a problem with any one on Ebay until I got to Dealtree. I made sure I sent Ebay several email. And if they request it I have to proof to back each and every word.

By the way I tried to pay for my Ipod twice. My thoughts are this company felt that my bid was to low. (hmmm makes you think doesn’t it).

Figured I get rid of an unused phone (Sidekick Slide to be exact), being that I have heard about Deal Tree and its "rewards" for a Best Buy certificate, I thought to myself "Why not?". Did the whole registration thing online, they gave me an estimation of the value of the phone, even offered the option of a prepaid label to ship the item to them, which i did. Soon to realize that I had gotten JACKED! They sent me an email stating the value of the phone i sent in was worth $0.00...UNBELIEVABLE! So I replied and requested to have my phone shipped back to me because I didn't want to donate it to their company, which I have NEVER receieved a respose. Two days later they (DEALTREE) sent me an invoice charging me $19.30 for shipping, handling and insurance of which i had supposively "AGREED" upon. This place is crap, DO NOT GET SUCKED INTO IT!

Purchased a refurbished Apple Experss from Dealtree / Cowboom. After the transaction I received neither an email confirmation nor, as or today (a month later) the product. After emailing both Cowboom and Dealtree, they tell me that they do not have enough information and cannot find my order. This even after giving them the transaction number from my credit card statement.

This is at best negligent, at worst fraudulent. Deal with these outfits at your own risk. From now on I will only deal with reputable organizations.

I have never encountered anything quite like this in all my years of purchasing things online.

Sending in a phone that is still associated with an account or associated with an account that has been suspended with the carrier makes the phone ZERO value, since it cannot be activated. Common sense would dictate that if the phone cannot be activated it should not be worth anything.

this is a duplicate of Dealtree Best Buy Video Trade In — best buy trade-in scam

I looked at the Bestbuytradein.com site and did not see anything that says you can cancel a trade-in after shipping it. I did see term and conditions that clearly indicated that you could cancel a trade-in if you have not shipped it yet. IT SAYS "Cancel a trade before shipping the item".

Seems reasonable to me. Did they pay your for the value of the trade-in once they got it? That would be the only expectation I would have.

See: http://www.bestbuytradein.com/bb/CustServ.cfm

The site says:
How To Cancel A Trade-in
To cancel a trade before shipping the item, use the Trade-in Support contact form, include your name and trade-in number, and specify what you want canceled in your transaction. We will send you an e-mail confirming the cancellation. You may be asked, but not required, to provide a reason for canceling the trade.
