I hired this contractor to do some concrete work in my yard this summer. He worked a total of two days forming the yard for concrete. The next day he was to pour the concrete and I was heading out of town, so because an aquaintance recommended him, I trusted to pay him in full as the job was to be over the next day. He did not pour with some lame excuse and after that it was like pulling teeth to get him to my house. After a month I told him he had two options, to pour the concrete or give me my money back. Today being Sept 10, 2013 after 1.5 months I have seen none of my money of $9100.00 returned to me and my yard sits in forms. I have had two other concrete contractors go to my yard and quote me almost $20, 000 dollars because they have to tear out all of the forms as they are too sloped and the drainage runs to my house. This is not up to spec and I was told this guy had no idea of what he was doing. Please never hire this company.

Yup. Looks like he has a history of leaving with the money before the job is done. We too, have had a similar experience with Dan of CD Stamped Concrete approx. 2 weeks ago now.
Made a mess of our garage floor, made some poor excuse about his truck not working and couldn't come and finish the job.
Anyone ever take him to small claims court?

I have also been ripped off by one Mr. Dan Tanguay. And would like to note while I do not know his new business name I have found out he has changed his "company" number to [protected]. Probably hoping to get away from all the complaints, which I'm sure will keep flooding in.

He is running under the name of C&D Design Concrete now . . . agree 100% with original post . . guy is a fraud and not to be trusted did work for one of my kids . . . sloped pad to house. No expansion joints. No grade pins, no piles, didn't float hardener into slab, didn't apply stamps properly . . . won't fix, makes excuses ...says the four reputable 30 year constructors we had inspect his work and say garbage are wrong.

Be warned . . . stay away.

I actually wasn't going to address this crap but apparently alot of folks believe what some anonymous person (out of Afghanistan I may add lol) writes on the Internet. ..don't believe everything you read people...I openly off references (of people if actually done work for) and do highly suggest calling them no matter who you hire for your concrete

Having trouble posting...hopefully this works. For the record, I also had a very similar experience with Danny as the original complaint. To summarize my negative sentiments: he was a horrible communicator, he left me high and dry leaving town before my job was complete without telling me in advance, he promised to give me a partial return of my 50% deposit and subsequently ignored my attempts to get this refund, and eventually I gave up trying. Luckily, my case was a much smaller amount than this. If you're going to use this contractor, WHICH I DO NOT RECOMMEND, get work done in FULL before any payment is given. Hopefully others won't make the same mistake the rest of us have. Check the reviews and trust your gut on this guy!

I’ve had a pretty bad experience dealing with Danny. Similar to this account above, I found him to be an absolutely horrible communicator as well as generally not too bright. I’ve had the exact same experience with him as the original complaint, except on a smaller scale luckily. It appears I’m not the only one with this sort of story dealing with him.

My experience wasn’t too expensive since the total for the job (emergency drywall work related to a small condo flood) was only $650, so I lost my $325 deposit.

That said, he did do some work on site and buy materials so it’s not like he did nothing at all. However, he did leave town before the job was finished (without telling me in advance) and eventually suggested that I just find someone else to finish the work I hired him to do.

Danny told me he’d tally up costs and refund a portion of my money. After months chasing him via text and phone calls, and only getting excuses back from him, it looks like he has no intention of paying me back anything. I had to threaten to sue him before he finally stopped ignoring my messages. This really is a small amount of money anyway, so I'm not going to go through the hassle, but I thought people might be interested in my experience.

I found Danny to be rude, deceptive, and lacking follow through on his words.

If you do want to roll the dice on this contractor, I highly recommend asking for full completion of work before you give him any deposit or payment. From the sounds of it, he isn’t afraid of leaving jobs unfinished and keeping your deposit to himself. As a side note, the person who eventually did complete the drywall work for me said that Danny did a poor job of what he did complete…so very similar to the story above.

It’s spring time, and with no posts for many months, it’s odd that a couple accounts get created to defend Danny right when I’m sure he wants to be getting back to his "concrete work". Draw your own conclusions folks, but from my experience this is probably the type of contractor you do not want to be dealing with.

Buyer Beware!

I had a very similar negative experience with Danny. I hired him to do some emergency drywall/carpet restoration work after I had a bit of a flood in a rental condo. The price was right, although I got a bad feeling from him right from the start.

He started the job, ended up leaving town without telling me he was leaving, and didn't finish the work he started. Just like the original complaint here said, he was absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to communicate with or get a hold of. I paid him 50% up front, which luckily was only around $325. After weeks of trying to get an answer on when he'd come back, he said that I should just get someone else to finish it, and he'd give me a partial refund when he got back in town. I got the job finished using someone else and after MONTHS of hounding him, texting, calling...and eventually threatening to sue him, he FINALLY returns my text saying that he really wasn't avoiding me at all, blah blah blah...he's coming back to town soon, etc etc. I told him that I wasn't going to chase him anymore, and he said he'd be back on Monday to contact me. That was back at the start of March, and I've heard nothing from him now for over 2 months. Safe to say he has no intention of paying me back anything, and it really isn't worth the hassle to sue over it.

He did start the job, just like in the original poster's complaint and left without finishing. Maybe a trend with this guy? DO NOT HIRE HIM, OR AT LEAST CERTAINLY DO NOT PAY HIM ANYTHING UNTIL THE JOB IS FINISHED TO YOUR SATISFACTION.

I told him about this complaint online, and now that it's spring he might want to start this concrete stuff up again, I wouldn't be surprised if he made some accounts to post the positive things above. Don't trust this guy. Bad apple.

He used this information on his business card, so if he changes names or something, you'll know this is him.

I finding this very hard to believe as i myself hired this guy and had no issues with him at all.I gave him my deposit of $8500 to cover materials and he did a wonderful job even going a bit beyond my expectations. I had him pour my stamped patio, sidewalks on either side of my house, 2 exposed aggregate planters and my driveway. Not sure what happened with your house but this doesnt all descibe my experience with him and i will gladly have him back this year to complete my front yard and would recommend him and his crew highly
