Made a call using my debit call to my mom when night time rates applied on 03/03/21009. Call lasted less than 5 min. When I arrived at home I checked my account on-line and a charge for $20.00 was placed against my card. On 03/04/2009 my card was charged another $13.45 making the total charge of $33.45 for a call lasting less than 5 minutes. If they think I am going to pay that, the C.E.O. needs to admit himself/herself to a treatment facility. My bank has been alerted and is disputing these charges. If the company refuses to reduce the amount my bank is refund this amount to my account, then challenge this in court on my behalf. Thank God for Bank of America and their willingness to support their customers.

I totally agree that they are ripping off customers. My cell phone wasn't working so I stopped by a Gas City in AZ to let my spouse know I was travelling on the highway so he wouldn't be worried. I tried twice to call him collect but the phone was never answered nor did the answering machine pick up. I just received my Cox phone bill and was charged $14.81 by the company Custom Teleconnect for each of the 2 collect calls I tried to make that were never answered. I will be contacting the company as well as Cox and Gas City. I may have to pay the bill, but I will be making complaints as I do it.

I recently had my cell phone not work and used the pay phone with my credit card. I was billed $20 for a call that lasted less than a minute. I am pretty upset and will be disputing this with my bank.

Please investigate the telephone company, Custom Teleconnect as well as ZPDI. I believe they are operating under fraudulent practices and are possibly partners in a scheme.

Custom Teleconnect apparently has control over various phone system areas that services the “collect call” market. ZPDI does their “billing”. They are stealing people’s hard earned money by billing them for “attempted”, collect calls that were not accepted. It then becomes the customer’s responsibility to get the charges dismissed. Meanwhile, the phone company requires payment to continue services until the matter is resolved. It should not function in that manner. The call should first be accepted formally by the receiver then charges should follow. I am not going to waste my time listening to their menu of options, to push a specific button of their choosing to appease them.

Phone numbers are able to be blocked but there is only a limited amount of numbers that one can block on their own phone. Institutions such as jails can be blocked but I am not sure about them blocking whole city or regional areas. Even so, I should not have to block off a whole area to prevent unwanted calls from one person. I should be able to leave my lines of communication open, for that one emergency collect call that I might have to accept.

This company is preying on all the busy hardworking people in hopes they do not monitor their bills. Practices such as this are unethical and the company should be reprimanded and forced to change their policy. I am sure technology is such, that an accepted collect call can be categorized in a different manner than one that is not accepted.

I to also made a call using my debit card on 2 occasions, the person I was calling was never picked up & went to voice mail, I didn't leave a message just hung up. I was charged $20, on the 2 time which was the next day I called 3x but still no answer, I check my checking account another charge of $33.92. I have to wait until it post to my bank before I can dispute it.
I think this is BS how can this company, I am outraged & this has to end stealing from hard working people. Please investigate this telephone company.

CUTOM TELECONNECT INC is a SCAM.
This company is a scam, they create their own calls and they ask you if you want to accept the call, BUT BEWARE BECAUSE EVEN IF YOU SAY NO, THEY WILL CHARGE IT. I have found a lot of complains about this company, I don't know why the government is still letting this company scam people. September 2010, my phone bill shows two charges for collect calls and miscellaneous charges equalling $72.93. We never accepted a collect call! The customer service said I used the service. Then I demanded to speak with the supervisor. The customer service rep came to the line saying that the supervisor was on another call but they would give me a 40% discount for these collect charges. Pay for fraud? What insanity! Also, the rep said she was not allowed to give me the supervisors name! I called again and they offered a 70% discount! Pay for fraud on sale?!?

WELL MY SISTER CALL ME COLLECT I HAVE NOT TALK TO HER AND THEY STILL CHARGE ME 20.00 AND THEN THEY TURN AROUND AND TOOK ANOTHER 31.69 OFF MY DEBT CARD WHEN I CALL TO TALK TO SOMEONE THEY HAD ME ON HOLD AND THEN THEY HANG UP ON ME WTF SOMEBODY NEED TO DO SOMETHING PLEASE
