Credit One Bank fraudulently charges late fees even when you do everything in your power to pay your bill on time. I called a week ahead of my due date to notify them of payment and I paid online on 2/27/2009.

I paid a little over my minimum payment and printed Credit One's Printer Friendly MY BILL PAYMENT RECEIVED, complete with their logo, date of payment, payment amount and a reference number.

Today Credit One called me and notified me that my payment was five days late and I was being charged a 37.00 late fee. I protested, offering to fax to them the online receipt that clearly showed the collections department was in error, but they would not remove the late fee. Their explanation was "something happened, and your payment didn't post." Then why do I have a reference number that was apparently useless to their collections department? I was told I would have to take up that issue with customer service, which would not be open for another few hours.

I made an online payment on October 24,2007 and as of 10/31/2007 it had not posted. Although all of my other online payments posted. I calle d the company to find out why it had not posted and supposedly my bank declined the payment. My bank account had PLENTY of money so it was not insufficient funds. I was told to call my bank and ask why it was declined. Also found out the jerks tried to charge me a 29.00 late fee. They agreed to take the late fee off of my balance. This company seems to take advantage of people with not so great credit and rape them for every single penny. I also am pretty angry about their harassing phone calls if ..god for bid, you are one day late on your payment. They call you at home, at work, and also try to get your cell phone number. I will be paying off the balance and canceling the account. Take my advice...DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY... SHADY BLOOD SUCKERS!

I understand how you feel. I pay my bill before the due date & also do it online so that I'm sure I won't be late. But within the last 4 months I noticed that they had charged me with a late fee twice. I ALWAYS pay ontime! Something is not right yet the company could care less. So instead of paying my usual payment of 25.00, they just sent me my statement on which the minimum is now 70.00. ALL THE FEES THEY CHARGE & TELLING ME MY PAYMENT WAS LATE IS BS! I don't know what to do. But yes, I do agree with you. Any advice? HELP CINDY LENARDON- crazy_lady3@msn.com

I had a similar problem. The worst thing about the whole thing was having to speak with their customer service department. Not only did I have difficulty understanding the English language but I had to explain their own accounting to the representative who kept insisting that the late fee reversal on the account from the prior month would wash the CURRENT late fee they were charging. Very difficult to deal with indeed.

They have been known to sit on payments in order to charge a late fee. My last 3 payments they claimed have been late and with the late fees they charged me on those payments my account ended up going over the limit. So they then tack on an extra $30 for over the limit fees. Within a 2 onth time span i got from $79 available on my card to -$228. I call and complain and even have proof all my payments were made on time but they refuse to admit a mistake or fix the problem.

They refuse to let me cancel my account as well, and told me once i pay the card off i can cancel it, however there is an additional fee for canceling too.

I have the same problem. I sent the check 3 weeks early and never had a problem being posted for 10 months. However, they have been delaying to post my payments for the past 2 months. It took them 3.5 weeks to post my payment for two months ago, and they haven't posted my payment from this month even though I've sent the check 3 weeks ago. So my advice: Get a money order AND certified your payments envelope through USPS. I've never seen credit card charging people for paying online but this one does. Credit One Bank sucks!
