Costco manager and trainees rude and unprofessional

July 26 2014. location San Antonio Texas IH10 & UTSA BLVD. I went into COSTCO to receive my cash card for my 2% Cash back card on Executive membership that was due to me. This COSTCO location had called me, told me that COSTCO corporate had directed this location to give me a cash card for payment due to me. The people at the membership desk were very professional, knowledgeable and helpful. They promptly located the E-MAIL from corporate office, it told them exactly what was to be done. I was taken to A***N who was handed the E-Mail. A**N never looked at me or even said one word. A**N spun around with his back to me and started to read? the e-mail. A**N then proceeded to look at the e-mail from COSTCO corporate, perplexed A**N the asked me, "you are purchasing a CASH CARD?". I said "No I am not, A**N said to me " this has to be paid for", still never ever looking at me or saying hello, I SAID" PLEASE LOOK AT THE E-MAIL FROM CORPORATE". He ignored me spun and walked to the membership desk. After waiting just watching his confusion grow. He came back never saying a word or even looking at me. Continuing to say "this has to be paid for"He called the manager M*****A. AFTER WAITING FOR A FEW more minutes. even though what they were to do was "clearly stated" in the e-mail from corporate. The manager, M*****A came over with another person (also in training). AT THIS POINT NO ONE HAS EVEN ACKNOWLEDGED ME IN ANY WAY . SHE THE MANAGER PROCEEDED TO TRAIN HER EMPLOYEES ON THE REGISTER. I am standing there why they are trained on their job. When the manager completed her training session. "A***N SHOVED THE CARDS INTO MY HAND without a word or even looking at me. A***N turned his back on me and proceeded to chat with the manager and the other person. I leaned in and said " your welcome A***N. A***N turned his head for the first time in this whole event., and looked at me like i was from outer space and never said anything. Then M*****A, the manger proceeded to tell me that A**N did not mean anything by it. I told her do not like "snotty" people without manners. The manager M*****A told me It was not a big deal and started laughing. I told her "you think lack of manners is funny and how i was treated was funny". I told her "Where do they get you people with such lack of manners". I called the Regional Manager in Dallas and left 3 messages. WAITING.

Costco overpriced

I just purchase a maax bathtub [item #282576] for $1350, and now i found the
Same tub (Under a different name) at homedepot for $800 (Without shipping) .
I emailed maax about these 2 models, and they said they are the same.
This is too big a discrepancy to ignore. Is costco over - charging? I always
Believed costco prices were the lowest, and now i am out a lot of money!

Costco unprofessional employee

My husband and I had a very bad experience at Costco at Brandywine Branch Maryland. It happened during the check out when my husband used the self service register. After he scanned all the items, he tried to look for the coupon from the Costco coupon book. He didn't realized that Costco removed the option to clip coupons and replaced it by master coupon. The Costco employee name Sophia approached him with nasty attitude and told him to use the master coupon in front of the coupon book. When my husband tried to scan it, it gave him an error message. This employee Sophia with unprofessional attitude raised her voice so loud and said to my husband, " You did not do what I told you to do!" and she got louder and louder telling my husband how to scan the master coupon. It was so embarrassing that everybody was looking at us as if we cannot follow a simple instruction. I think this employee is a racist since both my husband and I are Asian, she thinks that we cannot follow simple instruction such as scanning coupon. I believe as a customer service representative, you must be patient and professional dealing with your customers especially if your company deployed a new procedure. This act of unprofessionalism, arrogance and rudeness of this employee is unacceptable and damaging to the name of a huge and respected store. I don't think my husband or any member deserve to be treated like a brainless individual. My husband is well educated citizen and a CPO in the US Navy. I hope that Costco raise their standards in assigning people who provides customer service, because these employees are always in the front line and the key to attract more business. In my case, as member for the last 5 years, I will not renew my membership with Costco anymore. Sam and BJs are just right around the corner.

Costco ripoff prices - increases/ competition lower

Been shopping at Costco for a while now, it USED to be my one stop shop for many items, used to spend over $1000- $1600 per month at this store. I noticed they began to rise their prices a lot at this store. Over past year they have increase prices to a point of being rip off: sauces, washing soaps, and food items. Here are some examples: Coconut water from $9.99 to now $15.99 - same can be brought at Save on Foods and other supermarkets for $9.99 for the same quantity. Another is their Grapeseed oil, used to be $7.99 for 2 litre (2012) now $11.99- same is cheaper in price and much higher quality at again other supermarkets for $9.99, I questioned the price while shopping with a guy working there, he laughed and said "so we can know much we can get away with". Now I have reduced my shopping at his store to less than $200, as other supermarkets are much cheaper when you buy in bulk. Careful and check prices, this store will rip you off.

Costco false advertising

Costco at gulf coast mall in ft myers, florida has a wireless vendor display kiosk that has several wireless cariers and phones on display that are for sale. Included is a display for verizon which has a fully functional samsung galaxy ii available and priced at $79. 99.
I asked the sales representative for one (To purchase) and he said they have never received one and verizon refuses to honor his request to send them to him! He then said they have the
Galaxy iii.
There appears to be some very deceptive tactics going on but it is not clear if it is verizon, costco, the kiosk owner or a combination of more that one party.
What is clear is the deceptive tactic.
Stop waisting people's time by falsely displaying and misleading the consumers that could be repeat customers if you are simply upfront about your business practices.
Verizon must know about the practice since there is a license agreement to sell their product, and costco's representatives are not blind and they are normally on top of this type of phony practice inside their store.
I have attached a phot of the display with the funcioning phone (Taken 11 / 17 / 13)

Costco extremely long wait times

Let me start by saying we LOVE Costco and spend a great deal of money there every month. It's an hour and a half drive to the nearest Costco. My complaint is only regarding the Tire Service Center.

Since appointments can't be made to get our Costco tires rotated, we asked when the best time to come in to have it done ought to be. They told us first thing in the morning.

So, Friday the 18th of October 2013, we arrived 22 minutes after they opened. (We intended to be there right at opening but got caught in road construction for a few minutes twice.) We went in and were told by the none to friendly "Butch" that it would be at least 3 hours until he could get us in and then it would take 45 minutes to an hour to do the rotation. He didn't say sorry or act like he gave a rats behind. It felt like he actually wanted us to say, sorry can't stay. We had medical appointments scheduled for 3 hours out so we couldn't stay and wait.

This was our third try at getting rotation at Costco Tire Center with the same result. Our Costco is situated where there is really no where else to go while one waits for 3 or 4 hours. We can kill an hour or so shopping while we get service but 3 or 4 hours is out of the question.

This amount of wait time is ridiculous. We can't just drop in and see if they're busy or not. Why can't they take appointments at least for out of town folks? We sure had no trouble when we bought our tires there. We're not going to go somewhere else and have to PAY to have our Costco tires rotated.

So bottom line for us is that is that this is the last set of tires we buy at Costco. We have a Les Schwab two miles from home that is happy to service us. Before I married my husband I used nothing but LS tires and they were always very convenient. They even came way out of town one time when I had a flat on the highway, to come and change my tire for me. And Les Schwab can be found in tiny towns all over the place. Not just in the bigger places like Costco. Much more convenient if you don't live near a Costco.

Costco need new store

This store (Marks St.) has been there since 80s. Meanwhile, the southwest area of LV/Henderson has had explosive growth. Why isn't Costco building a new store in the area of I -15/St. Rose Parkway? They cover the 'other' side of town with 2 stores, meanwhile Henderson has 1 store. This needs to be addressed with all the new/continuing growth in the SW area.

Costco hiring policies

Supposedly it's illegal to discriminate by age, when hiring but Costco Wholesale asks for a SS# on their online application. If you don't fill in that field, the computerized application system halts and won't proceed...and the minute you fill that field in, the computer knows your age...isn't that illegal ?
It's nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get a job once you're in your 40 's or 50's yet ALL of the big chains do their hiring online, and they ALL demand SS's. So people in this age bracket are screwed...and to make matters worse...CA provides incentives in the way of tax breaks to these mega corporations for hiring anybody BUT people in these brackets.
Too old to get a job, and too young to collect SS. NOT FAIR.

They are not asking for SS# to see how old you are. They use it for salary information and to verify you are a legal resident of the US. They also use for the various background checks they do before offering employment. They are not using it to discriminate against you because of your age.

Costco rude associates

Well I start with I walked and no one greeted or even approached me and went and got some produce to purchase. I know nothing about the company except I knew you had to be a member to purchase items in store. So I thought I would ask about it when I got to the front "I thought no big deal" anyway I expect someone to be helpful instead I found rudeness. I get to the register and the cashier was kind of rude by saying I had to be a member to purchase. But this is what was worse the boy I will say that was with her was the worse. He said in a tone of you are unworthy to be here, like I had a disease. "How did you get in here" I was so upset I did know what to say and walked out. What I am saying if this company wants to grow they need to teach their associates some manners. Their is a way to handle any situation without being rude. This boy I will say made it look like this was a elite company and only the most important are allowed. He made me feel as though I was a poor or illiterate person and that I was not good enough for them. So maybe someone like me who has been customer service should come and teach them.

You were in the wrong here. There are signs all over about memberships, including massive signs outside that say MEMBERS ONLY in red lettering, and there is SUPPOSED to be someone at the door making sure every person who enters has a card for this exact reason (if there was really no one there, that's their bad), hence the employee's comment about you getting in there. There is a massive red desk that says MEMBERSHIP. You just said you were aware that you had to be a member to purchase, so why didn't you become one/inquire BEFORE shopping? What if you inquired at the register and weren't interested/didn't have the proper forms of payment? ### the employees, they can put all my stuff back for me/let me shop anyway cause I'm a special snowflake.

Also, you can technically sign up at the register, but that's incredibly rude. All the people behind you are already members that are prepared to pay and get out of the store, and you're holding up the line because you aren't a member. Have you ever signed up for anything that took zero time to fill out forms/take payment for the membership/explain the membership benefits? I doubt it.

Costco has excellent customer service, easily the best of anywhere I've been. It's not some stuck up elitist ###. They don't make money off the items, they make it all off of memberships. Membership fees and restricting payment options are what allows them to keep costs down. But that system only flows nicely if the customers coming in follow directions.

Costco poor service

I ordered a Samsung TV online. Pursuant to Costco's standard recommendation, I contracted with Installs, Inc. to do the installation. Before Installs arrived, I checked my wiring for my four speakers, DVD, cable box and stereo. I realized that I had a surplus of wires which were connected only at one end to something. I removed all of them and realized that all the necessary wiring ran into the stereo box, so that the installers only had to remove the TV from the box, put it on the table and plug the HDMI cord from the stereo box into the rear of the TV. They did this quickly, gave me a very brief tutorial about the TV and left. I put the pile of wires in the recycle bin.

But then the "smart" portion of the TV wouldn't work. I wasted a lot of time trying to fix that. Then I reread the instruction manual, which said that I needed to plug the IR cord into the back of the box. I couldn't find it in the TV box. I had to search through the recycle box and found it. The installers had thrown it on my pile of extra wires. As soon as I plugged the little IR wire into the back of the TV, the smart portion worked.

I complained to Installs, Inc. but they said that it was not the installers job to attach that wire, or, obviously, even to mention it in their so-called tutorial. I phoned Costco. To the woman who answered II explained the problem. She said that she had to check something and returned to the phone after 15 minutes. She said that it was not the installers job to stick that wire into the "IR in" hole in the back of the box or to tell me about it. She offered me a refund of $10 of the $90 I had paid. Moral of the story: Don't use any of Costco's "services" because what you will get is aggravating disservice. Barry Blyveis

FYI, those companies are not Costco. They're outside companies that members can ELECT for extra services. Just because they're recommended doesn't mean Costco is responsible for what happens - they only recommend companies who do a good job, but there's ### employees everywhere and that's out of Costco's hands. They really didn't even have to offer you the $10 since it had nothing to do with them. She likely called the actual company while you were on hold and recited to you their policy, since she was not familiar. It was nice of her to not just tell you it wasn't Costco's issue.

The whole situation does sound annoying, but don't take it out on the wrong company and give them bad press.

Costco one of the worst customer experience I had in my life time

One of the worst customer experience I had in my life time. I ordered a Cash Card from them online which took months to reach me after multiple resends and follow ups. When it finally reached me, I was told that the card is inactivated and my money is refunded to my account. The customer support team didn't not know about it and I almost spent 2 months with multiple calls, mails which made me loose my cool, mental peace etc for nothing as eventually speaking, its as good as Costco refused to give me a cash card! The reason I say this is that they tried to send it multiple times but always at incomplete address and finally when they managed to send one, the card was a closed card and whatever I paid was refunded almost before the card even reached me!

Costco bad customer service

Wanting to get an estimate of how much lens would cost for my glasses, I waited in line with the prescription from my eye doctor in hand. There were three employees, two women and one man, behind the optical desk and two were helping the others in front of me. When the other customers left, I stepped up to the register and waited to be acknowledged. I waited ten minutes... One of the women came to the register, but didn't bother to even look up when I said, "Excuse me..." She just turned and walked off. The other two wouldn't make eye contact either and were also, apparently, hearing impaired, because they wouldn't look up when I spoke either. I finally just left. After about an hour I thought, 'No. That's just not right. I'm going back to that store and give them a piece of my mind (if they'd actually acknowledge my presence this time!). My husband went in with me and we went to the counter and stood. After a couple of minutes (there were no customers, mind you) a woman named Lee asked if she could help us? I said, "Yes. You can tell me why you all ignored me earlier when I was in here." I then explained what happened. She replied, "I'm sorry. But we get busy finishing up with other people." I said, "I understand that. But it doesn't excuse poor customer service. Good customer service goes something like this, "Hello. Thanks for waiting. I'll be right with you. See? Acknowledge customer. Let them know that they are seen. Then tell them you'll help them momentarily. Easy, no?" She said, "I'm sorry. What can I do for you." I said, "Nothing. Just like you did before. I would never buy glasses from this Costco. Period. Just wanted to school you on how to properly treat another human being. Customer or not"

Costco worst customer service

Today I visited Costco warehouse with my daughter. At the check out there was a Customer Service Rep who said that my daughter can't pay for the purchase of a box of milk regardless that I was present at the moment of the purchase and we live in the same house...so what this means...do I need a card for each family member leaving in the same house? This is ridiculous! Worst of all, the lady, didn't gave me the opportunity to go to the ATM and pay in Cash...well this means taht my membership will be cancelled and I will do my purchases in Costo and BJ. Sorry Costco, your finances are not going to be increasing with this new system...you are loosing customers plus the income from purchases.

I have been attempting to apply for a job at Costco. I signed up but I am unable to log in. I currently work at Sam's Club in Crestwood as a full-time door greeter. I have been there for over 6 years. I love being a greeter. Won the front end year award of 2013. I love meeting people. I was once a cashier for Walmart in Georgetown, Kentucky. I am 62 years old but would like to apply for any full-time positions that I qualify for. I have a High School Education and love meeting people. Have a good work record at Sam's but the only problem is they are cutting hours. Please consider me for any opening in the St. Louis Missouri area. You may contact me at [protected]. Thank you for considering me.

Costco new milk container

Costco's Kirkland Milk containers are awkward to open and use. The new lid packaging certainly is not new and improved.
My wife and daughter cannot open the lids. Please review my request to concider changing back the lids with you milk supplier. We will try other stores for our milk purchases. I am sure other Costco Customers would welcome going back to the screw on type milk lid. ( ESPECIALLY SR CITIZENS )

Thank you for your concideration.

Costco product selection

Costco by far offers the best prices and decent quality for leather sofas and sectionals. But they only have one type of color - dark and darker! I am filing this complaint hoping someone from their corporate office reads complaint boards such as this. Why don't they realize that tons of customers want something other than dark? And they have almost nothing that reclines, especially motion meaning electronic. Yah there is a market for that old traditional dark leather but much of the customer base has moved into a more contemporary look with Euro style, different shades of color and motion. The classic argument that motion can be a problem and breaks down etc is hollow. Its just a simple motor that makes the simple movement of the furniture recline - its not rocket science. So please Costco, get rid of your buyer and update and broaden your selection. You just might be surprised at the increase in business.

Costco bad service!

Got a worn front passanger tire, drove to Costco have it replace. Standard procedure to put the new tires to the back, rotate the good back tires to the front. Next morning, front passanger tire is totally flat. The tire was good, but because it was moved to the front it's flat overnight. Now, both has to be replaced. How can a perfectly good tire become flat overnight because of rotation? Only possible answer is bad worker skills! Costco doesn't even have the professionalism it needs to offer replacement for free on the flat tire that they cause. All we get is denial. Bad service!

Costco credit card charges

On Thursday morning I purchased $10 of gas at my local Costco with my credit card. The following weekend I was paying may bill and noticed my credit card had been charged $150.00. After investigating with both Costco and the credit card company I learned that in order to purchase gas at Costco they preauthorize your credit card for $150 no matter how much your gas purchase is. This amount, plus the amount of your gas purchase is deducted from the available credit on your card and remains there for a least 72 business hours. I purchased my gas on Thursday morning and the preauthorization was taken off my charge Monday night. AT THE VERY LEAST COSTCO SHOULD POST THEIR POLICY OF CHARGING A $150 PREAUTHORIZATION AT THEIR GAS PUMPS.

Costco employees need an extensive customer service training accross the board. I had a family emergency and had to cancel business on-line order and reschedule. They delivered the next day and left out the most important items I placed? And they always deliver with at least one item missing? Sometimes they deliver goods that are not good. Example Fruit- Why would you give a customer case of Fuji Apples with half the case rotten or Banannas that are green? Berries that are no good.

I don't know, if I has a customer service oriented job, I would do my best and take care of all the customers professionally.

Costco rude and openly contentious behavior by a register person

A sales associate named Felicia C. @ register #5 was extremely rude to my husband and myself. She challenged whether we could use my husbands Costco card with my credit card. She did not even give me a chance to get out my own since we are on the same account. From that moment on...she was highly discourteous. ...to the point that she did not help pack up but chastised my husband for taking his time. When he asked about help with packing, she started tossing items in the cart. To make it worse ...she started mocking whatever he said...it was a horribly surprising experience that I am still upset an hour later. I have NEVER had such a unprofessional encounter in all the years I have been going to that store.

Thanks for replying, we could give two ### to your comments. First of all I feel that my husband and wife were discriminated against because we are a gay married couple. I am old enough to be married. I am 30 years old. My partner is 36. We are far from being children. I think the reason we got rude treatment was because we are a gay couple. If you read my husbands review you would see that this is not about not accepting the card, but about her rudeness. She mocked me, and was very unhelpful and I suspect this was due to the fact that we are a gay married couple.

Costco rude lady

On Friday, June 22nd, at approximately 4:30pm at your Norfolk, VA. location my friend and I visited your store. My friend has a membership and I frequently accompany him when he shops.

We enjoy your samples which has led us to discover, and buy, new items we wouldn't have otherwise purchased. Usually those at the sample stations are polite and helpful...not this time. The lady who was working the Garden Salsa Chip's stand was very rude and did not handle the situation well. She was busy chatting with a customer and apparently couldn't handle multi-tasking. She had samples set-up and I reached over the board and she yelled at me, "don't touch those I haven't put them out and I'll have to throw them all away" and smacked my hand. I said, "you hit me", she said, "no I didn't", an outright lie as my friend observed the whole episode.

While I may be wrong to reach over this board for a sample (note they were already in cups and all she had to do was move the tray with the cups in front of the board), her reaction, unprofessional behavior and inability to restrain herself made a minor incident into something very disturbing.

Although we did not speak to the store manager at the time, we continue to be bothered by this incident. Clearly this treatment is not indicitive of our experience with Costco employees over the years. As a result I have decided to make you aware of what transpired.

Freedom of speech shouldn't include things like calling other members ### or the n word, etc. That is just out right abuse.

Tasha has a very warped concept of "freedom of speech".

I have to agree with Tasha somewhat on this one(sighs) most people learn by the time they are five years old not to touch things that don't belong to them without being asked, the fact that you just grabbed the samples before she out them out and reached over in the work spaces makes me wonder what manners you were taught.
