Costco racism

I frequently shop and get gas at the Costco in Auburn Hills, MI. As a patron, it is my right to do these things without their employees asking me "Where are you from?" I was born in locally in Michigan and grew up in the area. I'm a United States citizen. When my response is that city in Michigan that I'm from, and then the follow up question is, "No, where are you really from?" I find that even more insulting than the first question. I don't wear the traditional dress of any other country or religion. There's nothing remarkable about my appearance. I can only surmise that I'm being asked to explain that I'm mixed race, which is incredibly inappropriate for any stranger to ask me, let alone when these people have no relationship to me except that they work in a store where I shop. I don't need to explain my race or ethnicity to employees who approach me to ask me this as I get gas or have groceries rung up, and I would really appreciate if you could make it a company policy to have the level of awareness to not pose culturally/racially inappropiate questions to your patrons. This is racism. I have never seen anyone else be asked this question in the 3+ years that I have been shopping there. However, I have been asked this question 3 times by 3 different people in 2016 alone. Nobody appreciates being asked this question as if to imply that they somehow are an outsider or that they're not white enough to have the luxury of not having to explain their race as many times as I have to your employees. Curiosity is when someone ask everyone this question, which I haven't observed. Racism is when it's targeted to people who have a different color complexion than they have.

Costco meats, fish and poultry

We have shopped Costco for many years for all of our meats, etc. As well as other items. I have told everyone in the past how you can't beat their quality of meats and price. We were always extremely satisfied. However, this is no longer the case over the past months. They have either changed their suppliers or I suspect changed their quality. There has been more fat than I have ever seen on their meat products on a consistent basis. I assumed this is because the pricing is per lb. We buy the same products such as lamb chops, tenderloin and sirloin steaks, center cut rib chops, chicken, pork tenderloins, etc, . Thank goodness the salmon and shrimp don't have fat.

First I noticed the lamb chops we bought over a month ago were so full of fat, when I trimmed them there was hardly any meat left. Then the steaks we ate were so riddled with grissle, they were not eatable. Then this week when I got home to separate our meats into individual packaging I noticed the pork chops were also full of fat which is never there in the past. Today was it. We purposefully bought the beef tenderloins this time and I could not believe all the grissile when you turned them over. They hide the fat the way they package them, same with pork chops. I will have to say in the past when we had a problem with any products they are happy to take returns, however, I don't want to have to go their on a consistent basis and wait in that return line!

Costco terrible customer service over price discrepancy

On Wednesday, July 27, 2016, I had an altercation with a supervisor (Latasha) at the Brooklyn Costco. I had already paid for my groceries and upon checking my receipt, I noticed two discrepancies: 1) I was charged twice for my oatmeal; and 2) I was charged $23.99 for the salmon when the price sign says $22.99. I went back to the cashier to let her know and she called Latasha over to authorize a refund for the oatmeal. I also brought to Latasha's attention the price discrepancy for the salmon and she replied rudely, "This is the price set in the system." I got the feeling that she thought I was lying so I suggested that she ask one of her employees to go upstairs and double check the price sign. In response, she said, "No, I won't send anyone upstairs to check. You go and take a photo yourself." Such poor customer service; I ended up taking a photo of the sign myself and showing her before she issued me a refund for the price difference. Honestly, I could've cared less about the $1 difference if it wasn't for Latasha's rude response. I also think it's deceiving for a company as big as Costco's to put out a the price display that doesn't match with the price in the system.

Costco would not issue membership card despite producing photo id

Hi

I know my complaint is trivial but I was really annoyed tonight.
I signed up as a Costco member and they said they wouldn't post it out and I had to pick it up in person. OK, not like the rest of the world, but I could live with it.
Drove 30 minutes and provided two forms of photo ID. Not good enough I'm told. Because we had recently changed addresses I needed to provide paper based proof of my address. Despite speaking to two staff and two managers, they would not provide my membership card. They suggested I should drive home, and find something and drive back. I suggested they should drive out to my house with my Costco membership card and so assure themselves that I lived there but no luck.

Below is my "Rant" to Moorabbin tonight.

What drive me crazy is the insanity of their requirements. ID for membership?
My two forms of 100 point photo id is go enough for the Australian Government and Australian banks, but good enough not Costco?

And even if photo id is not good enough. Why exactly does Costco need proof of my physical address? They didn't require that to receive the membership fee they required in advance.

Were they just having fun at my expense. A fun Costco staff joke. "Oh look. Here comes a new member. lets see if we can make him jump through some silly hoops. Let's have a bet on how much ridiculous bureaucracy we can put on him before he cracks it.

Below is my email to Moorabbin Costco tonight. I don't expect they will respond.

I wish to formally complain about the ridiculous treatment of myself when I went to collect my membership this evening.

I signed up online, and the email said I must collect the membership card in person at Costco.

Despite providing photo ID and identifying my address, the staff and managers refused to issue my membership card for "security reasons" because my photo ID had a different address from our current address. I explained that we had recently moved from Queensland to Victoria. However the staff and two subsequent managers said I had to produce a paper based document proving I lived in Victoria. Who cares where I live? I paid the $55 up front which was accepted by Costco so we had a contract.

100 point ID for my drivers license is OK for the Australian Government and my passport, but not for a grocery store (Costco).

However I became so disgusted with how I was treated that I asked for a refund on my membership fee. No problem they said. I asked if they needed paper based ID but no, they said, they were OK to refund my credit card.

Absolutely ridiculous and If I wasn't so annoyed that I drove 30 minutes each way to pick up a membership card that Costco said I had to pick up in person, then I wouldn't need to vent my frustration in this email.

You guys must be on drugs.

I can do my tax online. I can borrow money online. I can get gas and electricity, and internet connected online, but you would not post my membership to me, and would not accept two forms of photo ID.

Go figure.

I am really annoyed, and mostly because of the irrational and non sensical reasons provided to not give me a "Mickey Mouse" grocery shop membership card. I can get a membership card at a coffee shop simply by buying a coffee. No paper based address identification or photo ID required. Curios, they seem to think I am the customer. Costco could take lessons on who they are serving.

I can't wait to hear how Costo senior management rationalises my treatment.

The least I could expect is an apology and free coffin at my funeral which no doubt will be years early due to the stress of tonight (Joke guys).

So... over to you. What is your excuse?

I look forward to hearing from "A Current Affair" and similar media outlets when I provide a copy of this angry email to them. Grist for their mills.

Costco kirkland signature environmentally responsible premium liquid dish soap

There is absolutely nothing environmentally responsible about this soap. the ingredients are as follows: sodium lauryl sulfate, water, lauramine oxide, sodium laureth sulfate, sodium xylenesulfonate, denatured alcohol, fragrance, benzisothiazolinone, methylchloroisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone, and citric acid. for starters, sulfates have been phased out of many products in recent years due to their potential for skin irritation and endocrine disruption. it's absurd that anything these days still contains sulfates, but it's insane that a soap claiming to be environmentally friendly would contain them. benzisothiazolinone received a 6-7 from the environmental working group, an independent research organization that scores products based upon their potential hazards. the best score is a 0 and the worst is a 10. for all intents and purposes, benzisothiazolinone is therefore considerably dangerous. europe's scientific committee on consumer safety has banned this compound for use in cosmetics. moreover, the eu and the united states' own epa have labeled benzisothiazolinone as toxic to wildlife and the environment. methylchloroisothiazolinone is also restricted for use in cosmetics by europe's scientific committee on consumer safety, as well japan. it received a score of 6 from the environmental working group. there is a strong evidence that this chemical is a human skin toxicant or allergen from multiple studies. additionally, wildlife and environmental toxicity is listed as an effect of the use of methylchloroisothiazolinone. similarly, methylisothiazolinone received a score of 7 from the environmental working group. according to the ewg, "methylisothiazolinone... has been associated with allergic reactions. lab studies on the brain cells of mammals also suggest that methylisothiazolinone may be neurotoxic." methylisothiazolinone is banned for use in cosmetics by the eu and germany, and restricted for use in cosmetics by canada and japan. once again, it is considered to be toxic to wildlife and the environment. save your health and the health of the world and pick up some dr. bronner's castile soap instead. shame on you, costco.

Costco not delivering

I placed an order for a TV on 7/6 and received an email from CEVA that it would be delivered on 7/14. On 7/13, I received a call from CEVA that it was delayed and would be delivered between 4pm and 8pm on 7/15. I went home early to receive the delivery and it never came. CEVA did not contact me to let me know that it wasn't coming. I contacted CEVA on 7/16 and was told that the earliest that they could deliver now is 7/20. This is terrible customer service and COSTCO should not use a company that acts in this manner.

Costco citi card

Costco switched to the new Citi/Visa card and gave us a paper credit card but made it for only 1 week knowing that Citi is taking more than a month to process new cards. Also, Costco refused to allow us to apply for the card ahead of time for absolutely no valid reason. It's been a month and we are still waiting for the new card. Completely ridiculous, amateurish, and sophomoric mismanagement on the part of Costco. Not what you'd expect of a multi-billion dollar company

Citi does not seem to understand customer service. My new card was rejected at a Safeway in Northern CA today. When I called Citi to find out why, I was told my account was "over limit." AmEx did not reject such charges in the 12 or more years that I have been a Costco Executive Member with an AmEx card. I asked to speak to a Citi Supervisor. The Florida based agent on the phone could not "find" a Supervisor. I hung up in disgust.
Costco stated time and again that the Citi card and the related services would be better than Amex. This is a poor start.

This transition has not gone well. I have had several times my card would not work in store machine. A customer just in front of me had the same problem. Some retailers have requested that I use a different card for my transaction. Other time I have been declined for no good reason. This is very frustrating, considering the two companies involved. I have bee an Costco customer and American Express for more than fifteen years.

The new Costco Citi card didn't take effect until June 20, they didn't tell you that charges made on your Costco American Express previous to June 20, were to be paid to Citi. Citi did not send a statement until July 15, at which time they told me my payment was overdue and they added in the American Express charges (which my bank was set up to pay). Along with the past due notice came a $27 late charge and a $4.33 interest charge (for not paying $202 charged to American Express). I was so angry that I wasn't polite to Citi Customer Service when I called. They were overwhelmed with complaints. I was told the late charge would be refunded, but probably not the $4.33 in interest. So multiply $4.33 (or more) by the millions of people that Citi screwed and you get a tidy little sum of money being collected due to their ineptitude.

Costco customer service department in mount laurel, nj

I was there a few days ago and was treated very rude by the young woman cashier at the customer service department. As soon as I walked up she had a bad attitude. I asked her a few questions about joining and the rudeness was extreme. I was very nice to her. There was no reason for this and I left vowing I will never shop there. Why do they have a girl like this at a customer service position right by the door. I have never reviewed a company before but this was so awful I had to. I would have joined if not for her rude behavior. A customer stopped me who heard her and told me to report her. Honestly I was so shocked that I just wanted to leave.

Costco credit card

We have been loyal Costco Executive members for few years now and it's one of our favorite places to shop or at least USED TO BE for all our business supplies and most of our grocery for personal use, till the whole transition from American express to Citi Bank It has been nothing but nightmare.
End of april we received a letter saying that we will be receiving the citi card by the beginning of June as June 19 will be the last day to use American Express card, we did Not receive the card until the end of June after calling the horrible customer service for citi bank more than 5 times and each time my husband stayed on hold for at least 30 minutes before someone actually picks up and he had to go through the whole process of explaining over and over.
Finally we received the cards only to learn that it was linked to the wrong member ship so my husband could NOT fill his car with gas !
So he had to go in the store for them to issue a new a card with a new number that it is deferent from my membership card number which now I CAN NOT use.
I am considering cancelling our business membership for good.

Costco customer service

Yesterday, I made the mistake of going to Costco with a friend who was a member. While I was there, I picked up a couple things I needed, while he picked up what he went there for. We then went to the ridiculously long checkout lines to pay for our things.

As Costco has finally gotten around to accepting visa credit cards, I had brought my credit cards with me. As he drove us in his car, I did not bring my drivers license because I wasn't driving.

The cashier refused to accept my Bank of America visa card because I did not bring my drivers license. The manager was called over. This would be the manager who has no clue what the difference is between a debit card and a credit card. This would be the manager who has no clue that debit cards use PINs and credit cards do not.

Because my credit cards do not use a PIN, the manager all but accused me of having stolen the credit card from somebody's wallet and I was using stolen credit cards, I was not allowed to buy anything.

Needless to say, I will not be shopping at that store again.

Who goes out without ID? You take your credit or debit cards with you but no ID? Come on. Most places these days are going back to the old school way of doing business. Too many people using stolen credit and debit cards has all but crippled retailers. And how would he know that you did not steal the card? Without ID he has no idea who you are. Had someone stolen your cards and they did not ask for ID you would be here complaining that they did not check ID.

They did their job. You did not. YOU gave bad service, not them.

Costco credit cards

I just left Costco. Tried to use my Citi Bank Master Card & was told only Visa cards may be used. I had a Citi Visa card & was issued a Master Card without my asking. I assumed it would be good at Costco. I was told that you would only take cash or a check. I find this very inconvenient. As a stockholder in the company I feel this can only lead to theft and checks being returned as not being able to be cashed.

Costco costco coupon offers after online order

I am a longtime member and very dissatisfied with a "bait and switch" scheme that Costco is obviously participating in with other third parties. I made a purchase online and was offered a coupon deal to purchase a product for shipping only. After I took advantage of the offer, I was billed for the shipping and then immediately billed for an auto ship program with the third party.

I take issue with Costco for networking the offer and there by supporting this "Bait and Switch" Scheme. I am going to be reporting Costco and the third party to the Better Business Bureau.

I take issue with people who complain about this situation and do not take responsibility for their own mistakes. Every single one of these offers has a disclosure that clearly states you will be signing up for a membership or an auto service. You have to UNCHECK the box to avoid it. If you uncheck the box, however, you do not qualify for the 'free' item. You have to agree to this before you can continue.

Blame yourself.

Costco credit card

I have been trying for two days to shop at Ctco! Yesterday took forever to complete the membership because computers kept going down. Finally got the membership then had to apply for a Visa card, two hours later we left as they said Visa was down and couldn't approve us for a card. Had to run home to get the check book to pay for our membership, this all took a total of 3 hours and 40 minutes and we still could not shop at Costco! They told us to come back today for the Visa card. Got there right at 10:00 am waited in line for 35 minutes, finally got approved for a Visa card and was ready to shop! But wait they can't print out a temporary Visa card because Citi Visa won't let them, tried 4 times and no go! Went to my car and called Citi Visa, they said they are not down and have no problem at their end, has to be Costco problem. Visa said I should go back in and tell them to try again. Went back in told them what Citi Visa said so they tried again, no go, they Cailed Costco's IT person and said they were having no problem that is Visa fault! This took a total of another 2hours and 50 minutes! WITH THAT MY HUSBAND AND I WENT TO OUR CAR AND DROVE TO SAM'S CLUB,

Costco credit card visa

I think you have a much bigger problem coming than the known inept transfer to Citi Visa. My card and access to my account went smooth enough. Now for a much more serious problem when I attempted to use card for any charge more than a McDonald's meal( which went through). . All larger charges were denied. These were not high dollar purchases . After waiting several hours for a Citi rep I explained the situation and after much discussion I was told I would have to get used to the denials as I had no previous track record with Citi. I have sterling credit but that does not seem to matter. Their computer makes the decisions. What did you dump on us?

Costco costco citi credit card

I am long-term, staunch and loyal Costco member…UNTIL NOW! Costco made a HUGE mistake in partnering with Citi.

The two companies couldn’t be more opposite from one another. Costco has always been very Member Centric and does anything and everything to keep us members happy…Very few companies compare to Costco when it comes to treating its members and employees like Gold.

Citi on the other hand, has a notorious reputation for operating with a Bullyboy mentality/culture whereby its customers are merely meaningless numbers to be abused in any way possible. This is common among the top 10 national banks…Citi, at number 6, just takes abusing its customers and not caring about anything other than its profits to a whole other level.

I spent over an hour waiting on the phone or getting bounced from one rude person to another trying to get an answer to a simple question about linking my spouses Costco Citi card with mine within the online banking system.

Citi’s online account management tools are absolutely HORRIBLE! You would think a bank this size would have slick technology…They DON’T.

Shame on Costco for not vetting out Citi more thoroughly and subjecting us to the pain and misery that is Citi.

Citibank posted a balance on line for our new account and neglected to post a month of charges that supposedly caused our balance to be over our credit limit. That is like going into a store and the clerk says you owe me $100 but she does not tell you what for. A manager of Citibank directed me on their website to places that did not do what he said they would do. I have to wait for that manager to mail me the charges that are not posted on line yet the mysterious high total is posted on line. Makes no sense. In over 4 years of using our Costco American Express we never went over our credit line limit and I believe we still haven't.

Your issue is not clear. Linking two credit cards to the same online banking account depends on how the cards were open, and whether they are single or joint accounts vs whether your bank account is a single or joint account.

More information is needed. You slam two businesses over your inability to link accounts. Answer a few questions. Is your husband's card a joint account card? Or a single card? Were they opened under the same account or separate accounts. Depending on how the online system is set for you, if you have a joint account, with each of having separate cards, then his card will show under his profile, and yours will show under yours. Only joint cards will show on the main account page.

Costco samples

My boyfriend and I went to Costco Thursday 6/9/2016 around 4:30 pm to pick up a few supplies for camping. We sampled 3 different things. One was pulled pork, and the other 2 were chicken. One of the chicken was a breaded nugget type and the other was a piece of chicken breast I believe served with Tzatziki sauce. We both woke up around 12:30 am sick. We got food poisoning from the samples. The only other thing we had eaten was a 11:30 am Thursday. That was our lunch. I believe it came from under cooked chicken. I believe the pulled pork was already cooked and then frozen. Never eating chicken samples there again. Disappointed in Costco

Just noticed your chicken had Tzaziki sauce. Did you spend any time out in the heat after eating the Tzaziki? I bet that did it. Dairy and hot sun do not mix well.

What did you eat the three to five days before? It is a proven scientific fact that with food poisoning it is hard to identify the source unless multiple people eat the same thing and have the same symptoms. It is also a scientific fact that the bacteria for food poisoning can stay in your system for up to a week before making you ill. Think of it like a trigger. You eat chicken today, and it was a tad spoiled, but you did not notice in the taste and you do not get sick. Then a few days later you eat ice cream and WHAM...instant poop session. Sometimes, it ain't the ice cream you ate two hours ago. It is the bacteria in the chicken you ate days ago that interacted with the bacteria in dairy that got you.

Feel better. But be realistic. Unless there are multiple reports of food poisoning from Costco you really can not prove where you got it from.

Costco manager, bagger and,checker

I am an Executive Member At Costco I am also a business owner in Eldorado County.
I have been shopping at the Costco in Folsom Sacramento for four years. When you notice every person being a little ruder than the last time you shopped . Everyone including older people have no manners when maneuvering the carts it half resembles the L.A. riots. My grandparents taught me to always be polite, respect others space and to wait your turn. I am a pretty big guy I weigh over 200 pounds but, this doesn't seem to stop people from trying to run me over any chance they get. Yesterday I was in line trying to make sure the delicate items go on the belt last to make sure they don't get crushed. Im spending a thousand dollars on high quality organic food. The bagger begins using her body language to bully me out of the way. By the way she weighs about 110 lbs and is very young. I continued to remove my items from cart and she grabbed it and hit me with it. I immediately asked her to look out and please go and manage the other cart. The checker asked her what happened and she rolled her eyes and made a psshhhhhhhh sound with her mouth and made a stupid face while rolling her eyes. I spoke up to the checker that the problem is that she just hit me with the cart. The checker said it was an accident with an attitude. After that the bagger and checker began to slam my food into the cart, smashing fruit, placing items on their side so they can leak out and being downright disrespectful. The checker asked if there was a problem with an attitude again. My partner was explaining that these items are delicate and cannot be placed under 10 lbs of frozen meat. Then she bullied my partner out of the way. Instead of apologizing to to the customer a spiteful silence ensued. The last thing I would like to address is the new manager he is young and seems to have an issue. When I went over to get a hold item slip from customer service he walked closely to me with his chest out and pushed past me without saying excuse me. Obviously upper management needs to explain that the employees are a vital part of this multi million dollar corporation. Not being tough and having an attitude. Customer service is the most important aspect to any company. The previous manager whom was very polite. She didn't seem to have a problem with someone asking for a hold item slip. The overall attitude of the store has changed and it is now ultimately rubbing off on the customers. Eventually this will lead to the downfall of the location deterring people from wanting to shop there. I would like to see a noticeable difference in the employee attitude. Especially managers they set an example. This means quit puffing your chest out at people. If you notice a problem with your checker don't just stand there with an attitude. Please, thank you, excuse me, I apologize, I understand. Costco need to focus on customer service equally as it focuses on all other aspects of growth. Whole Foods is a great example of the overall attitude necessary. Infact due to situations like this whole foods will eventually catch wind of this and start supplying a product for the same price you don't have to buy in bulk and you get treated like a normal person infact people are nice to you.

Costco membership customer service

So, we went shopping yesterday and my husband's card doesn't seem to work. The cashier advised us to go to membership and have the problem fixed. At the membership, I spoke to "STACEY" and explained her the problem. She checked the card and says it's working. But I keep telling her that at the cash register it didn't work when we tried to use it. She was very rude. She didn't want to look into the problem any further since she said I asked her a question and she's given me an answer, if I don't believe her then I can just talk to her manager she said. So that said, she called her manager, I didn't get her name but same, an employee with attitude, she just walk into me and didn't say anything but just look at me with a face like "what's the problem?" So then again, I explained what was wrong with the card one more time. So then she check the card herself then she said it's working, but then again I said it didnt work in the register when they scanned it. I asked her what does she suggest that needs to be done then since they just looking at me annoyed that I keep insisting it doesn't work. She said she can try it on the register herself so I said "PLEASE" then she just walk away without telling anything.. Then she found out the card doesn't work right! This STACEY and her manager are very rude and have a horrible customer service! It's a very bad experience for me making me look like a stupid person and doesn't know what I'm talking about.

So who is right? The ones who check the card and it works fine? Or the register where the card didn't work? You equate confusion with rudeness.

Costco tire department

Hi;
I am a happy customer member since 1989. Yesterday was the first time which I was very surprised and frustrated by my encounter to the tire department at San Jose Costco (1705 Automation).
Had a flat tire which I asked for repair, and was told by the tire department supervisor that takes "5 hours" to get the car in. With this ridicules comment I was forced to leave the store and go to a private repair shop and within 10 minutes I was driving out of the shop with my spare on. I believe the Costco is loosing its magical grip on this department since while selling thousands of tires, have not seen any expansion or improvements in tire department. Their first priority should be with the people who already has purchased the tires and they are bond by their agreements for supporting them, and if they can not fulfill this requirement, they have to stop selling to new customers. This bitter experience which took time and money made me wonder that maybe Costco also is bending toward other stores in Bay Area who does not give a damn to customers!. Regards, Mostafa Tehrani Costco member ([protected] Exe). [protected].
