Company information:
Continental BMW Deaership
Darrien, Connecticut
United States

In 2005 I purchased a 2002 BMW 325Ci from Continental Darrien BMW dealership. This was a "Certified Pre-Owned" car and I was advised it was in mint condition with no accident record. I double checked CarFacts and indeed found no record of an accident.

Switch to October 2009 - just moved to Seattle from southern California and had to have the car repaired and prepared for the Seattle winter. Durin the repairs the mechanic found a "water leak". After two days in the shop the Seattle BMW dealership called to advise there had been an accient with evience of a seious hit to the rear of the car. The mechanic informed me further that the entire back of the car was rebuilt / restored with non BMW parts and the repair was so poor it has now caused the water leak.

Clealy such a significant alteration to the car should have been identified by the CT BMW dealer and disclosed to me. Now, close to $2, 000 after the fact, I am stuck with repairs which may drag further as we try to make sure the car is safe and insulated for the Seattle rainy winter.

I am disapointed a company such as BMW would market "Pre-Owned Certified" and yet beyond cosmetic clean up this, obviously, carries no value whatsoever and provides me - as a consumer - with no garranty the car I purchased is indeed in the condition presented to me and safe to drive.

Bottom line - next time skip the BMW dealer and their premium pricing and get your car on any used car lot - Pre-Owned certified means nothing...
