Company information:
Colones Auto Rental
New York City, New York
United States

I entered a 8 day rental contract with Colones Auto Rental, and on the morning of the fourth day the car DIED on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. I promptly contacted Colones, told them of the situation and the location, and they assured me that they would send a tow truck and take care of the problem. They have subsequently charged me $750.00 for damage done to the car between the time I notified them and their retrieval of the automobile, and billed me for the full 8 days of rental! They were unhelpful and unapologetic for sticking me with an unfit car in the first place, and accused me of "abandoning" the car after I had notified them of everything. Avoid these people at all costs! They are sleazy, untrustworthy and inept!

This is a total false statement made by this person. There was absolutely nothing wrong with this car. After he called and said he had trouble starting I asked him to please put in a new battery and I would take it off his rental. Instead he dumped the car on the side of an almost unpassable road. We pass $300.oo and sent a tow truck immediately after the customer told us where he left it. It took 5 1/2 hours to get to the car. The rear door was left onlocked and the car was vandalized. When we brought it back we had it scanned and found nothing more than a dead battery. We replaced the battery and the car was fine. Customers are responsible for the rental vehicle until it is returned or someone meets them and takes it from their possession. They sign a contract and know this. How would you like it if someone dumped your $14, 000.00 car. And all for a dead battery. This is the kind of customer no one wants. He is a totally onresponsible. person. If anything I should be advise all rental companies to watch out for him. Thank god he is the only renter I have had to deal with that has this kind of an attitude. We pride ourselves on our maintenance upkeep of our cars. This cost us alot of money and loss of rental time because of his actions. And then he calls and threatens that he is going to school to be an attorney and is going to go after us. Just what this world needs is another know it all attorney. Colones Auto Rental
