I have purchased a cleary building for my farm about 1.5 years ago. It was a 42x56x12 machine storage building. My experince with cleary buildings is one to remember. During the building process the crew threw there trash everywhere. They put a hole in my west wall with there skidloader, did not put in all the screws, and left alot of hardware loose. (It was very clear the crew needed a baby sitter since no one was at my farm). With these problems they wanted there final payment. I contacted my salesman to get these issues taken care of. He did get them taken care of. 2 weeks later the sliding doors came off of the track when I was closing it, having some hardware hit me in my head. After all this cleary sent me a questionare. There main concern was "is the shamrock neat and cleary visable", my answer was I would not worry about putting my name on a piece of junk like this. Everything was in the end taken care of under warrenty. They came back with a more experinced crew to fix the many problems. Since then the sliding doors work great, and the building has withstood 100mph winds. With what happened to me I would not buy another cleary building.

I also bought a building from cleary and I am very dissatisfied. The building was supposed to be completed in 1 week. It has been over three months and they still aren't finished. Very crappy workmanship. The building is not plum, square or level. It is twisted and so out of shape, my 9 yr old son could have done a better job. They have no communication skills between themselves or their clients. They don't show up when they say they will and they never have the right materials when they do finally show up. I live in Wyoming, I have had a crew from Sheridan a crew out of Montana and a crew out of Idaho falls come to work on it and none of them seem to be able to read a level or a tape measure Cleary Building Corp. is a complete joke and shouldn't even be in business. All they want is your money and you'll never see them again. I am stuck with a building that i'm affraid to park my vehicle in, I think it is safer outside. So shop arround before you buy and don't use Cleary.

I am, at this time, putting up a Cleary Horse Barn.
The crew have been wonderful, explaining everything as they go. The workmanship is topnotch, and the materials are topnotch as well.
I can't wait to see the finished product!

This is Cleary Building staff. We took note that this customer was unhappy. It was our point of view that he wanted a free building. We had a lot of trouble with this individual and ended up suing him. However, both sides came to an amicable agreement that was satisfying. Cleary Building stands behind its products and goods. Our company has been around since 1978 and has sold more than 8, 100 buildings. We are a leader in the industry and have an outstanding reputation with the Better Business Bureau, Consumer Affairs, and other rating agencies.

Also I think that this testimonial is not real: "Nathan & Rebecca Kirch—McFarland, WI

My wife and I wanted to take a moment to share our appreciation with you in regards to our new Cleary building. We can’t say enough about our sales representative Don Zeal. Don worked with us very closely during the planning stages of our project. He resized and reqouted our building several times until we found something that met both our financial and square footage needs. Don continued to stay in close contact with us throughout the building process. He was always available to answer any question or concern we may have had.As impressed as we were with Don the real stars throughout this entire process were the men that constructed our building. Job foreman Eric Zilliox and his crew of Justin Stocker, Josh Flannery, and Micah Waltrud were outstanding. The conditions that these men had to work through were unbelievable to say the very least, from rain and mud to sun shine and 90° with stifling humidity. Their work ethic and attitude were some of the best we’ve ever encountered. All of them knew their roll and place within the building process. We were both amazed at how efficiently and safely they worked. It was obvious that these men had a great deal of pride in what they were doing. We both got the impression that they were constructing a building of their very own. Everything had to be just right before leaving at the end of each day. Not once did we witness a “good enough” moment. You should consider yourself very fortunate to have such dedicated and diligent employees."

If you want really good work done on you should give us a call. We do a much better job than Cleary and our pricing is better [protected].

Their website says: "The History of Cleary Building Corp. The Company was founded in 1978 to offer Clients a quality building that satisfied their needs at an affordable price. From day one, the Company has prided itself on offering the personal service our Client's deserve. Cleary Building Corp.'s world headquarters and flagship manufacturing plant are located in Verona, Wisconsin. " I can't believe that a company of that age is not more committed to customer service. Their site also says, "In 1985, Cleary Building Corp. opened its first branch office in Appleton, Wisconsin. Less than one year later, Cleary Building Corp. broke ground in Illinois, opening an office in both the northern and southern parts of the state, in Sandwich and Breese. Expansion has continued at a steady pace and today the company's branches stretch as far east as Butler, Pennsylvania and as far west as Grants Pass, Oregon. Today, Cleary Building Corp. has locations throughout the United States. Actual Cleary buildings can be found in: Arizona, Arkansas, Alabama, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin, West Virginia and Wyoming." My husband and I built a Cleary building last summer in central Illinois. We were lucky and had an experienced crew that did a great job. We contacted FBI Buildings first but the salesman wouldn't call us back so we called Cleary. Our salesman was very attentive. My neighbor called Cleary this spring to put up a garage and the Cleary salesman didn't call him back. Sounds like building is a crap shoot and we got lucky.

Got 40 x 60 in 1996, one of the first in the norman, ok area. 2 man crew was excellent, meticulous, friendly, mighty nice guys. Building is great doesn't leak, its tight. These are my highest commendations as I don't usually like ANYONE'S workmanship. Like any product it is only as good as the people doing the work most of whom shouldn't drive vote or reproduce.

I would not buy something of this nature from Walmart or K-Mart but that is what purchasing a structure from one of these cookie cutter companies is all about. They care about one thing and that is the bottom line! I recommend getting references in your area from past customers not the "happy " poeple yhey put on their website. These companies have inexperienced, underpaid employees that creates more profit for them. Try using a local contractor that will keep that money spent in your community. I have bought products from these companies and you get what you pay for!

Can't speak for Cleary but read below and take heed.
Morton is shrewd and deceptive. Their contract is short and simple...at least that's what you think when you sign it.
They are NEVER at fault. They have built into YOUR Contract an Overages Fund...it amounts to approx.
10 % of your building. You PAID for that. When a Problem arises, 1st they twist it and blame you, and try to charge you again to fix it. If you refuse, they attempt to take it out of their salesman's commission. His commission comes in stages...the final huge commission is at completion. That is his incentive to make sure you don't fire their crooked butts. If the overages (your money) account is untouched, the salesman gets that too. They will deny this!

13 Things Morton Buildings Doesn't Want you to Know!

1.) The contract is set up for you to lose.
2.) The contract states that you will be responsible for ALL COURT COSTS and THEIR LEGAL TEAM.
3.) Your balance due will acquire interest.
In 1 year of minor legal battles with them on a $40, 000 balance because you got sick of them and hired a new contractor, your interest and legal fees will exceed $100, 000 !
4.) Remember, Morton has VERY DEEP POCKETS. They will hire the $400.00 per hour attorney. Can You?
5.) They will not give you a Materials List for YOUR Building. DEMAND ONE! IN WRITING! PUT IT ON THE CONTRACT! BEFORE YOU SIGN! Demand when that list is due! VERY IMPORTANT!
6.) BLUE PRINTS...DEMAND THEM. PUT IT IN WRITING! DEMAND WHEN IT IS TO BE IN YOUR POSSESSION!
7.) Make sure the Plans are to SCALE! Do not Trust them. DEMAND in WRITING that they are to scale and from an Architect from their company. Then take it to a REAL Architect. DEMAND to see them before money changes hands.
8.) Make sure you have a COMPLETION DATE on the Contract. Also a penalty of a certain amount of money for each day that it goes beyond the specified completion date. Make it high enough...in the hundreds. Trust me, if it ends up in court they have no problem spending $400.00 an hour for an attorney. They were supposed to be done with mine by July 1st. They didn't even start until end of Sept. DO NOT TRUST THEM! THEY LIE THROUGH THEIR TEETH!
9.) Their contract states that the payments are due by phases. Their various phases are very vague. You need to have IN WRITING what is to be completed in each phase. IMPORTANT! MAKE SURE...the contract states that the particular phase is done to your Liking and Satisfaction! Not theirs. They can have the building roughed in, have different color siding on it and patched together and say that that particular phase is done (but obviously not right) and demand the next hefty payment. They will promise you that certain "Missing" elements are coming and will be done later. 6 weeks later my building which is white had deep tan panels on it.
Do not make the mistake I did. They are Shrewd.
10.) TAKE PICTURES! EVERY DAY! Of each wall, of the supplies, etc. From the beginning to the end.
Make sure you get photos of the workers. Get their Full Names and titles right from the start. Do not wait. Find out about their experience before you hire them as a team.
11.) On your contract...have it state how many hours they plan to have the building take. They Know!
11.) KEEP TRACK OF THEIR HOURS that they work.
You will need it in court. This is very important.
12.) Remember, they will do anything to save their butts.
You need to do this also.

Oh, now I'm nervous. I'm not too impressed with my local Cleary office. The receptionist was going to have a salesman call on me several months ago the first time I stopped by to look at brochures. Never happened. After I called and told them I was ready to get moving on a qoute, the salesman showed up but couldn't really give me any ideas. Just basic, what do you want and where? Now I've got an appointment to get a contract and he didn't show. When I called him he thought is was for another day.

I feel for you! I used Morton Buildings in Texas. My building is a mess. It is a joke. My friend is putting up a website about it. I have had my DOG DIE due to their [censor] building, others have been injured. This company is horrible. I will add a link here when the site is done. They are a Pack of Thieves!

I currently am a salesman for Cleary Buildings. If you are unhappy with your building, call the branch office that sold it to you, and they will help you. If you are unhappy with your local branch and don't feel that they are giving you the kind of customer service you deserve call Cleary's corporate office at [protected].My office personally has an amazing crew, and I never walk away from a building until the customer is completely satisfied, even after collecting the final check. To answer some of the complaints that I have seen on here, Cleary uses an 80, 000 PSI steel which is comparable if not better than other competitors. Secondly, we have recently switched from nails to screws in the roof. Lastly, I know that if one of my customers wasn't happy with their building I would do everything I could to make it right and the vast majority of the salesman/crews at Cleary take the time to make sure their customers are satisfied. I can't reinforce enough that if you are having problems with your building, call your branch office or the corporate office to get things fixed. I hope all of you get your issues taken care of by Cleary in a timely manner.

I too have a Cleary building and had troubles with the contractor. The roof leaked like a siv and he did not do a very nice job on the concrete. He just broomed it and went home. He also broke my driveway (that he poured) with a skid loader, promised to fix it, but never saw him again. I made the stupid mistake of paying him before the drive was fixed. I had to patch the roof myself. I now have a new roof thanks to a hail storm, my insurance paid for it, and it does now leak at all! To the person that has a boyfriend that works for Cleary, just remember, whether it is a contactor or employee who did a bad job, it does not matter because Cleary chose the contractor to represent them. They need to be more careful who that have putting thier buildings up.

My boyfriend works for Cleary Building Corp and it is true that they do put the buildings up quickly and that the head office only cares about the shamrock being visible. But I can tell you that shot-ty workmanship is not true of every crew. I'm sorry that you all have had horrible experiences but the crews here out of the Escanaba, MI office are truely the best. They have had to travel all over the midwest and fix issues that other crews have made, so please before you complain about the entire company know that there are still a few good workers out there! I know many of you will disagree with this post but I wanted you to be aware that not all of the guys that work at Cleary are complete ###s...just some of them!

This is common of all cleary building. It is a cheap building put up at as little coast as possible. It may coast more for a Lester building or others but you know that they will put up a quality buidling. Lester uses all sotheren yellow pine and dougfur for their trusses and purlins. 80, 000 tensel strangth steel and screws to fasten down the steel. I am very pleased with my Lester. On the other hand my neighbor put up a cleay just after mine. Steel fastened with nails. first hail storm his was dented mine held up. Building went off leavel after a wind storm. I told him that he should buy the lester but to bad for him. All I am saying is check consummer reports and us the computer before making big purchases. It always saves in the long run. One Happy Customer with My Lester Building

we built a Cleary Building for a garage structure next to our house... never were we checked back with about our concerns on the building... supposed to contact the customer after one and three months. We had some major concerns, cracked perlins, leaking roof, roof steel too long for eaves troughs, visible holes...and we had to ride them for 3 months to get any satisfaction...finally the crew was sent to repair the problems we have found. This winter now we have had a blowing snow and our building filled with snow.. the whole north end drifted in on our vehicles, work bench and shelving units...thank goodness we have not insulated the building as of yet. I have called the main office, Dec 30th and still have not been called back ( Jan 5th) Never again will we build a Cleary Building, there is absolutely no service after the sale. Their only worry is if their shamrocks are still in place, if you remove them the warranty is void... what a joke. Worth every penny to spend a couple thousand more and build someone else's brand of building.

I work for a construction salesman for a company that runs up against Cleary frequently, and I've heard this tale many times, and I agree with David Dame's comments and how far he's been forced to take it. We would never expect to be paid for that quality (or lack-of) of work. The crew was obviously subcontracted out and had very little experience in construction.
