The Cleaning Authority You don't always get what you pay for

Dring my extremely short employment with this company, I saw "seasoned" cleaners skimp on the cleaning that the homeowners had paid for. In one house, a lady had many beautiful potted plants in her bathroom. The bathroom was on rotation (meaning this room was supposed to get a gooood cleaning) . Although I was trained to clean the Cleaning Authority way, I began cleaning as I would my own bathroom. At first glance, I noticed everything had previously been cleaned satisfactorily, but upon closer inspection, I saw the space between the tub and wall had spider webs, as well as soil from the overhanging plants; the potson the floor had soil, webs, and dirt rings. I even found ceramic pieces from a broken planter pot! The pieces had been put into a larger planter under the plant's leaves. The window sill was decorated with more plants and aroma therapy candles. When I took them down to clean the sill, I found more webs and spiders (daddy long legs). The women I was working with seemed more concerned about the amont of time spent cleaning than how WELL the house was cleaned.

The Cleaning Authority Stolen jewelry

Approximately 9 months ago I noticed one of my rings was missing. When the cleaning team arrived for the scheduled visit, I asked the team leader did she see my ring. She claimed to first not understand me (language barrier), and then said, "I didn't see it". I mentioned the missing ring to the owner, Michael Mucci. He said, "My girls go through background checks, and I have never had a complaint". Several month passed ~ I was never able to find the ring. Mr. Mucci said he was bonded and insured, but never asked me if the ring was recovered.

A few weeks ago, while preparing to dress for work, I looked for my necklace ~ it was stolen. I searched my jewelry box, and the surrounding area to no avail. When I had the opportunity to speak with Michael Mucci again, I told him I was missing another item. He immediately said, my girls don't steal. I told him I searched extensively and this is the second time jewelry has been stolen. I have discontinued the service, and caution anyone that uses the Cleaning Authority of Huntington, NY.

The Cleaning Authority Worst service ever

I was completely happy with Merry Maids cleaning service in Charlotte, NC but foolishly decided to try a different company ... what a mistake!

Cleaning Authority had convinced me to try because they are bonded and insured, very professional during estimate. They are more expensive but seemed to be more detailed on cleaning areas.

On day of the "Initial Cleaning A", I arrived home to find my tiled floors with sneaker prints, white powder swept into a corner and left there, dusty window sills, glass shower door wiped on outside but not inside, and no attempt to clean closets.

The Cleaning Authority Missing jewelry

I wore my diamond ring to a party one weekend and put it back in my jewelry box when I got home. When I went to put it on the next weekend it was missing from my jewelry box. The only people in my house besides me between the two weekends were the two cleaning ladies from the Cleaning Authority. I looked everywhere for the ring and could not find it. The owner of the Cleaning Authority came over and looked for the ring and could not find it either. The cleaning ladies said they did not take it, but there was no one else who could have. The owner of the company would take no responsibility for the theft, even though his company was supposedly insured against employee theft.

If you were so sure that the workers stole your jewelry, why didn't you file a police report? No insurance company is going to pay a theft claim if the police aren't involved first. Sounds to me like you may be trying to scam your cleaning service.

The Cleaning Authority Damaged piano, floors, terrible service

I cannot begin to explain how many lies were told by the franchise head 'Paul'. 100% customer satisfaction. Paul is a salesman and a dishonest theif of a man. They put a deep scratch in out baby grand piano. They scratched out wood floors (he claimed they only use a brush vacuum on the floors but I happened to be home and saw them vacuuming our wood floors with a 'normal' vacuum). They broke our shower door. This was in the 1st 3 cleanings! Their quality control guy, Lee, who supposedly makes sure the cleaners are doing their job let us know that they would stand behind it and fix those things. They they offered to pay for 1/2 the piano refinishing. And, in the end when we said that wasn't good enough (because WE did not scratch it, of course!), they refused to pay anything for it! If I didn't have three children under the age of 7, I would be filing a lawsuit. This was suppose to make our lives more manageable not add stress. In my 36 years of life I have never had someone, especially professionals, be so dishonest and sneaky. I'm hoping this reaches someone who is considering hiring them. I never expected hiring a cleaner to damage things and have no recourse.

Hi Aaron and Tiffany,
I haven't heard back since our last conversation, I have appreciated all the positive comments you have given me over the last several cleans. I don't feel comfortable as a business owner discussing your living conditions in a public forum, if you have any questions, please contact me.

The Cleaning Authority Bad service

I get these great mail ads for the Cleaning Authority, however, the local Fort Collins agent does not return calls.

One time I did get someone who answered the phone, but they could not answer my questions and took my number for the owners to call. I never got a return call. I wonder who is sending the advertisements?

Apparently they don't need any more business! I wanted to report them to the franchiser, but the website only directs you to the local dealer.

Sounds good, green sealed certified. Why the taunting ads but no dealer to come and give an estimate?

Their alternate forcus service solution is confusing if you only have once per month service because I don't keep check of what rotation I will be. And their cleaning team sometime forget as well. It ends up a whole mass. I try to contact my local office, they refuse to do the investgation, and tells me if I'm not satified, I can find another service company... The officer has a very bad business maner, and have no common sense about how to do her business. I think if she keeps her maner, she will go out for business not to long.

The Cleaning Authority Waste of time & money

I've used The Cleaning Authority for about a year. The "rotation system" is such a joke.. just a selling technique to get you hooked. There have been several times where the rooms "on rotation" were left so dirty, I 'd have to clean them myself after they leave. They cut corners every time and are in and out of my 2800 sq. ft home in just over an hour! They are always showing up with different people. The "quality checks" are pointless - the lady shows up after 20 minutes of them starting and just checks whatever they've already cleaned then leaves a couple minutes later.

The girls do not know how to clean thoroughly at all. Almost every time after they leave, I find so much hair on the bathroom floors, not to mention dirt, sand, and grime still on our kitchen and laundry room floors which were are never vacuumed properly. Several things go uncleaned each and every time. They don't clean cobwebs or anything higher than their arm's reach. They are not very accomodating if you request another team either.

One girl would leave the house 10 minutes before the other girl every time just so she could smoke her cigarette and throw the butt onto our lawn or driveway as if no one would notice. On several occasions, I'd hear her yelling and cursing her way to the car from our front door, complaining about work politics, etc. My house would wreak of cigarrete smoke from that one girl who is supposedly "green cleaning" our home. Who wants that when you have a baby and toddler at home?

I have never felt so ripped off for any service before.

The Cleaning Authority Satisfaction not guaranteed

I hired The Cleaning Authority in Hanover, MD to clean my 3 bedroom rancher. They claim to provide a satisfaction guarantee otherwise they send people out the same or next day to correct any oversights. But, during the initial clean, which was supposed to include a detailed bathroom and kitchen cleaning, they did not clean the shower in the hall bath (and now claim I only asked for the main bath to be cleaned which is untrue), the air vents, the kitchen floor, the microwave, lampshades and window sills. When I called to report this, they started making excuses for these items, and said they would "get them the next time". Angie Huff, the office manager who I spoke to, did not utter one word of apology, and in fact she blamed me for not being clear on the hall bath cleaning, and then did not deem it necessary to send someone out to "guarantee my satisfaction". Needless to say, I will no longer be using their services, for both quality of actual work and lack of customer service skills. Satisfaction NOT guaranteed!

The Cleaning Authority Denise gilroy

I had hired the Cleaning Authority to clean my house October 2010. They came out with a cleaning crew of 3 employees. This was supposed to be the initial cleaning- which in their brochure means a "deep cleaning". There was a list of everything that was supposed to be completed. Here are some of the things that were on the list- which were not even touched: My Floor boards/base boards, doors wiped and door frames, "knick knacks" cleaned (nothing was touched on my bath room counters even a shelf that I cleared off specifically cleared off for them to clean was still dusty), wash and sweep floors (my floors were not touched but now worse because they wore their shoes in my house), wipe down all appliances, the list goes on. The only thing that was done for $65 was my carpets were vaccummed but only around the furniture, wiped down counter tops, and cleaned toilets. Other than those 3 things my house looked the same way that I left it- mind you they were supposed to "deep clean" my house and they were there less than an hour! The owner seemed so nice when I first met her, until I called to complain, she had another girl from her office contact me, I told the girl I wanted to speak with the owner, this was Monday, it is now Thursday and I still have not heard from her- but they cashed my check Tuesday. I left a message again- if they do not call I am putting a complaint through the franchise main office. Please do not hire this cleaning team: a tThe Cleaning Authority in Kissimmee Florida- you will be throwing away your money- her name is Denise Gilroy- they are a SCAM

The Cleaning Authority Breaks stuff

I've used the Cleaning Authority for almost two years. I finally got fed up and fired them after they broke the fourth item. The first issue I had with them is that they locked my dog in an upstairs bedroom the second time they cleaned. It must be said that I was all hopped up on fertility drugs at the time and didn't handle it well. So, I didn't fire them at that time. We had a good crew for awhile. Then, they broke a collecible Rafko ornament that I had to pay double it's orginal price to replace. Then, they broke a bowl, which to this day I do not understand how it happened. They knocked it off the top of a bookshelf and apparently knocked my phone off at the same time as I found it wedged behind the bookcase when I got home.

A few weeks later I noticed that this particular bowl had broken another bowl on the table. I knew they'd done it because there were chards of glass from the first item. This was the last straw. I fired them and then had to wait three weeks to get my key back. Every time I tried to call my rep, I either got routed to the Call Center or he had his phone off.

Their prices are extremely reasonable. But, after factor in replacement costs of broken items, they don't seem so cheap anymore.

The Cleaning Authority - Stolen jewelry

The Cleaning Authority staff has been stealing jewelry over the past 1 1/2 years. They have taken one piece at a time, so I did not see what was happening until I counted 5 "unaccounted" pieces. When I confronted the supervisor I was told it was too late to file a claim, no further action was taken though I did find that one cleaner was caught by another...

The Cleaning Authority Careless cleaners

We had The Cleaning Authority for a couple of years...we fired them today. After many broken furnishings 9blinds broken, vases chipped, glasses dropped etc.) and girls who were allowed only a short amount of time (less than an hour) to clean our 2 story, 4 bed, 3 bath home. Last straw was when this past Friday a small porcelain figurine on the back of the stove was broken, the head snapped off and set back on top of the body. When the management were called here in Tucson we were told that the girls had said they didn't do it. We were then asked if maybe we did it and forgot. It hadn't been broken prior their cleaning but was after and it was OUR fault?

The Cleaning Authority Thiefs

Two women from the Cleaning Authority in Chattanooga, TN came to clean my house to the tune of $186 on December 18. The two bedrooms (out of four)they had been asked to clean had been completely cleared of any accumulated clutter; the bathroom countertops were cleared. They were not asked to change sheets on the beds. All they had to do was dust and vaccuum. One of my guest found a summer dress inadvertently kicked under the bed in the guest room - they had not completely vaccumed the two bedrooms they "cleaned."

The thought crossed my mind that after all the work I had done, there really wasn't that much work left to do. But, my main concern was the main living area that consists of a kitchen, eating area, and living area.

I was at work and my husband took the day off to be here with them. They were packing up and leaving as I arrived home. I stepped in the back door and one woman warned me of the "wet" floor.

All I can figure is that the "wet" floor (hardwood in this room, carpet elsewhere)was a spot next to the door for show. I was standing on a throw rug. If the floor was wet, why was a throw rug on it?

Upon closer inspection, this room had not been cleaned. I picked up a cotton rug that is underneath the overhang of our kitchen island. We feed our dogs on rugs at either end of the island underneath the overhang. I shook about a quarter cup of dried dog food bits out of one cotton rug. I picked up another rug and shook it, dirt fell out on th floor. I looked at the floor - it hadn't been cleaned - that was obvious.

Further, there is a small, freestanding cherry corner shelf in the same room. Yes, there were some "dust catchers" on the shelves - not clutter. This corner shelf hadn't been touched and was covered by a layer of dust.

My husband said they just didn't have time to finish befor their time ran out. Those two women were just too incredibly slow and did such a poor cleaning job, we didn't have time to deal with the mess before our guests arrived.

I would and am warning everyone about this outfit. I will be filing a complaint with our local BBB and on Angie's list warning people about The Cleaning Authority. What happened to us amounts to theft.

The Cleaning Authority Beware

he Cleaning Authority's crew in Olney, MD was letting my dog out back during their clean. We never authorized them to do this. Sometimes they would leave the sliding glass door wide open presumably so the dog could come and go as he pleased. Came home after work one day to find the house dark, the sliding glass door wide open, and both the dog and the indoor purebred cat missing. Cleaning crew denied they did anything. The manager claimed my dog somehow unlocked the sliding glass door and removed the burglar bolt and let himself out.

They also broke several things in our house - first time the admitted it but never reimbursed us or replaced item. Fourth time they put the item back together as if I wouldn't notice, then denied it when I called to complain about it. They talked about reimbursing me or replacing item, but never actually did.

The Cleaning Authority Bunch of losers

First cleaning...They ruined my travertine floors, left it streaked with film. Missed almost all the dusting. I called mgmt, said they didnt know what to do about it not being clean..finally two days later sent out another cleaning team.

Then I got a letter that terminated my service. They said my floors too dirty..I leave my windows open. What? I live on a dirt road. The owner and manager were extremely rude and nasty. They could just not admit that they didnt know how to clean my floors. Another inept cleaning company. What a bunch of losers.

The Cleaning Authority Bad service

Employees of the Cleaning Authority spilt bleach on our master bedroom carpet. The spill was in the middle of the room, out in the open, and covered a significant area. We were home when it occurred and witnessed the spill. We contacted the ownwer of the Cleaning Authority (Dean Rudy) who came and inspected the spill.

Rudy said the area could be dyed to hide the spill and offered to have a company of his choosing come in a dye the affected area. We checked with an independent carpet expert about this and they said a bleach spill cannot be dyed because the fibers of the carpet have been burned by the bleach and they will continue to disintegrate over time. Thus, this was not a stain that could be dyed, but a burn of the carpet fibers that needed to be replaced.

This information was relayed to Rudy, but Rudy refused any other remedy than $100 or to have a company of his choosing dye the carpet.

We refused to have the carpet dyed, knowing it would not fix the problem and the damage caused by Rudy and his company. We suggested pro-rating the carpet, as that is what a court would likely do to equate the damamges (liability was not an issue). Rudy still refused.

Dispute never settled. Rudy essentailly forced us to take him to court.

The Cleaning Authority Terrible experience

They pitched me their rotation. They came and said they cleaned... no they didn't.Nothing was even dusted or mopped. I complained. They came back and still did a crappy job. Then they came back again and still did a crappy job. I canceled the cleaning and they sent me a bill for an incorrect amount. It took them two weeks to get my account straight... meanwhile, they reported me to a collection agency! They are awful! I hope no one else uses them. Their rotation is bull. They take no time to clean properly and take forever to address their complaints. They don't do inspections of their so called cleaning ladies and obviously hire poor workers.

The Cleaning Authority Scam and rip off

I had the Cleaning Authority come to my house and sell me their services to the tune of $82.00 for one cleaning. Not only did they do an inferior job of cleaning, but they broke all the casters off my foot stool which I had just purchased in June. They would not refund any money to me saying "Well, that's just not going to happen".

I would never recommend this company to anyone. Not even my worst enemy. Stay away from this company if you ever want to see your house in one piece. Things were not put back in their proper place and they left they cleaning tools at my home and did not clean thoroughly.

Also, a friend of mine who had used this company had made a complaint about one of their employees and asked that they never send her back to her house. They didn't... they sent her to mine.

First of all I use to have them come 2x a month. I had to go through 3 or 4 teams before I found team 10, the supervisor of that team was great she made sure all my concerns were taken care of, if one of her girls didn't clean to my satisfaction, she had them do it over. They gave her a promotion, so there is no more team 10. That was before covid. I had the come out yesterday Feb 9, 22. I was told that 2 people at $55.00 and hour each person and I want 3 to 4 hrs. I ask about windows being clean, was told they could do the windows inside and out, but would not climb ladders, and they would not take off screens. I replied all windows are reachable, and I understand about screens. This is supposed to be a deep cleaning. I was told they would clean blinds and baseboards. Well, 3 people show up, so you would thank that means they would get done quicker. No so they were here for 2 1/2 hours and just had done the 2 bathroom, kitchen, and family room. The one that did the family room was working like a snail 🐌 the room has 5 windows I asked them before they started, to do the windows in that room I had done all the other windows in the house. The ones I asked them to do had no screens. She called us to say she was done, and we could come back in that room, so we could be out of way of them doing the other part of the house. Now remember this is a deep clean, took her 1hr 50 mins to do that room. No windows seal were dusted, no baseboards dust, no blinds wiped down. I had to tell her to go back and do it. Her supervisor, said she didn't know if they could do the windows, they are waiting on their supervisor to come by and tell them if they could. I told that that was part of the deal I made with Debbie, she told the girl to go ahead a do it. If there was a problem it should have been addressed before they started. But she did even dust. The supervisor was doing the kitchen, she did wipe blinds, she didn't do baseboards, she speed her time, cleaning the stove washing each individual numb, she could have put them in soak an went to something else, when she came back she would have just had to wipe them off. The blinds are still dirty. Two bath rooms got clean for $484. That is highway robbery. The other to room they deep clean, were still dirty. Kitchen floor was wiped dirty in corners, mopped around kitchen mats 5 crumbs on floor, mats not wiped off. I have to clean the floor. I have bad back, and legs and live with my 92 yr old mother, this is the reason we need the house clean, now we are out 500 and have to do it anyway. The pictures are just 2 of the blinds in the family room.

Making unsubtantiated allegations... Nice. "Your Friend" who is unnamed asked the company not to send some unnamed cleaner. They just happened to send that same unnamed cleaner to your home!

Wow - what an amazing coincidence. If your unnamed friend was so unhappy with them, why did you use them?

This story stinks...
