Last month, when we had a fault code come up on our dishwasher, my wife called the Clark Appliance company, from which the previous owner purchased our washer. Since there didn't seem to be anything functionally wrong with the washer, she asked if there was a way for us to clear the code, but we were told that a service call would need to be made to correct it. The service man showed up late, hit two buttons on the front panel of the washer and cleared the code immediately. For his 5 minutes of work we were charged their standard $119 service charge. Yes, that was without any parts installation, just the push of a button. After inquiring as to why we were not provided this information when requested, they said that we should have requested to talk to a service man on the phone, and that the receiptionist didn't have this kind of knowledge.

I complained to their service manager and got no farther. Even after asking for a discount due to the ease of the "repair", I was told that the charge is standard no matter how much work is performed and that I should be glad that they did not add on a charge for the labor hours or that parts were not required.

I tried contacting the BBB, but they apparently agreed with the repair company that the charges were reasonable.

I just don't want anyone else to use this company if this is how they treat "minor" repairs.
