Taking fees without permission

As I was looking through my bank statement, I looked at a charge that I did not recognize. In going back through other statements, I realized that this company has been withdrawing a $12.95 fee since 03/13/07 up through 06/13/07 without my permission. I have no idea who this company is and how they got the authorization in the first place to withdraw these funds. I would like to be reimbursed for the full amount of $51.80 which has been debited from my account, or I will take further action if necessary, but not sure how to begin. How to I go about seeing this problem gets resolved, and I get my funds back into my account. The $12.95 may not sound like a lot to some people, but when you live from paycheck to paycheck, it all adds up. Any information you may have will be greatly appreciated.

I recently had some problems with my bank. Upon investigating the matter the bank located a reoccurring charge of 12.95 to my debit card since July of 2006 . There were 11 charges from CIC on my debit card. I have to go to the bank to sign papers tomorrow and I will be contacting the company. I signed in for a free credit report when I was buying my new home and this is what I got for it.

I thought I was being robbed, too until I did some research: If you signed up for freecreditreport.com, you're being charged a hidden membership fee. They're not stealing, if you read the fine print. They don't talk about it up front, but if you read carefully to the very middle of the terms and conditions - where people would normally stop reading - it tells you about a membership fee that CIC charges you for using their Products.

I agree with those who are complaining about this company. We have fallen victim to the internet and very misleading advertising!!!! I checked on my credit report and I will not deny doing it however when you are linked to this page and that page trying to get what you are asking for it is hard to even know who you are dealing with and what to expect. To advertise you can get a FREE copy of your credit report, credit card required but no charge applied, be sure you call us in 30 days all in the smallest possible print is B.S.! I am seeing posting after posting that people have problems getting their unwanted memberships canceled, that is very encouraging.
I have called and spoke to someone who from the dialect was probably not in the US, who recited well you signed the agreement and provided a credit card you obviously knew what you were doing script and this is non refundable. With this many complaints about the company you would think their business practices would change to be more consumer friendly. I guess if they are making money by screwing the public why should they change. I intend to make a mass email to anyone and everyone I know to warn them about the fine print and membership to something you don't really need! I also got hit by another "credit monitoring company" MNI Creditrpt Services for $11.95/mo that I did not realize I had become a member of through that on time search for my credit report! Those of you who don't feel like you have been stolen from, I envy you and all the money you must have for this not to bother you.
