Choice Home Warranty do not use them if you are a homeowner, do not work for them if you are a contractor

This company claims to offer home warranty programs to home owners. They hire contractors to perform the work. However, they do not pay their contractors. After the contractor becomes aware they are not receiving their money they are forced to stop working for Choice Home Warranty. However, Choice has a clause in its contract that says that they are authorized if you cancel the contract abruptly to withhold your money to investigate that you have not done damage to the company. That if you have caused damage your money may be withheld. Then they tell you that by refusing to do future work for customer calls you have brought damage to their company. Therefore according to the contract they owe you $0. Basically they dont pay you, knowing you must eventually cease work. Knowing that when you do this they will now be under no obligation to pay you at all. Any communications regarding their lack of payment to the homeowner, BBB, or anyone for that matter is "damage" to their company on forfeiture of your money as well. This company is a complete scheme and does people horrible. Do not use them if you are a homeowner, DO NOT work for them if you are a contractor.

Bad choice to buy it. the contractor they sent kept Bashing them them the whole time.and want me to hire him directly. basically they hire contractors just as a lead to come to your house and select you for the job. I ended up replacing the AC unit myself and still paid them for service fee add to that the premium yearly fee.
My second call for bathroom leak they did not fix it. charging me $45 and I went to home depot and got washer for $3 and 10 minutes I fixed it. called them they did not even refunded my service fee. they said they had to send the edit to my house. I thin they hire homeless people to work on your house.

Choice Home Warranty warranty coverage

The company doesn't stand behind their warranty. They look for every possible way to get out of covering their obligation. I had a low voltage control wire that was bad on my air conditioner and they wouldn't cover the diagnostics, claiming this was excluded as part of the home's electrical system. The repairman told me he has many problems getting them to authorize repairs. I listened to them question him and they were obviously looking for ways to deny coverage. In the future, the repairman stated he'd just replace components (much more expensive) rather than trying to determine the problem. I had to pay to get the wire fixed ($100)

I've had the same issues in the past. They will look for ways to get around covering the item/time and my washing machine could have been fixed if they would have just replaced the mother board, but instead gave me a $200 credit - I couldn't do anything with the money - a new washing machine is around $600 - $700. American Home Shield is more expensive, but they cover a heck of a lot more than Choice does. Choice's monthly fee was $43. American Home Shield's is $53. Choice charges $45 for a repair and American gives you options starting at $75 per repair. But if you think about it, if you're having a major issue and AHS will cover it, That additional charge per month and the additional $30 on the repair goes a long way.

Choice Home Warranty fraudulent company/violated home service agreement

Upon having yearly maintenance on my hvac system, it was discovered that the evaporator coil was frozen. They recommended I call my home warranty company, since it was likely a leak or low freon, and to not run the ac until it was looked at to prevent further damage. It was over 90 degrees outside at this time. I read through my home service agreement to make sure that was a covered expense and immediately called choice home warranty to have a service technician dispatched. It took more than 8 phone calls and 36 hours to finally get them to dispatch a technician, who was here in less than an hour. He discovered that I needed a new evaporator coil and refrigerant, both which were covered under my warranty, and found the problem to be wear and tear, not a lack of maintenance on my part. I purchased my home last year and the inspection showed the hvac system was in perfect working order. I called choice over 10 times between the next 24 hours for the status of them approving my claim since I was starting to suffer from heat exhaustion. I was required to submit proof of maintenance, so I immediately emailed the itemized receipt showing over $600 of maintenance that I had completed on monday. My claim was denied, they stated it was a "pre-existing condition", and that since I was unable to furnish maintenance records from the previous owners, they were not responsible for the $2350 claim. I was previously with ahs but switched to choice for the lower price and promise of excellent customer service. I should have done my research and discovered that choice had over 650 claims with the better business bureau over the last 3 years! I am disgusted with this company, and hope others learn from my mistake and don't throw their money away on this fraudulent joke of a warranty company.

I appreciate the information from this complaint. I was considering changing from my current home warranty co. ( AHS) to CHW. mainly because AHS has increased their rates. However I have had AHS since 2000 and have utilized them about 10 times. Only once did I have to pay add'l repair costs (A/C) . I have been reading several of the complaints on CHW and I have changed my decision to switch at this time.

We are a plus contractor in Texas, those guys did same thing to us we condemned 22 year old condenser tripping breakers, they send some of there fouls to fix it, and then they put us on hold, they owe us over 4000 $, I send them to my lawyer, if you want to get your money we can join hands and sew them and prevent them from scamming more people and. Vendors, by the way they don't approve anything, they will tell you your coil is rusty

Thanks for the useful information, and sorry about the lousy service from this company! I was actually thinking about switching from my current home warranty company (i.e., AHS) to CHW, but now I think that I'll keep looking for another option. Does anyone have any recommendations for a better company?

Choice Home Warranty claims - ac unit

All this company has done is try to find an excuse to not pay a claim. My rental home in Chandler, AZ had the ac go out this week, June 6th - Wed. 2012. Choice Home Warranty did not tell me what was wrong with it, but did stated that due to lack of maintenance they won't pay the $535.00 USD to service it. I have records that this time last year this AC unit was serviced through another company. This is my 1st claim I have had with them: my contract term stared on 12/03/2012 through 01/03/2013. I am letting my lawyer take care of this through PrePaidLegal. This companies address is: 510 Thornall Street, Edison, NJ 08837 and their phone # is: [protected]

Choice Home Warranty do not fix the problem

Hello everyone,
When we signed up with this choice warranty, wished I had read reviews before we signed up... They have been a very harassing team of people. They will say the same thing over and over again. I blame the owners and not the customer service reps who are trained to tell a customer, sorry the repair/problem is not in the contract. They have signed with such independent contractors who will not return your calls. I have their whole conversation recorded where they have said that if a same problem persists then they will come out and re fix the problem and this will be an open case for 90 days. But if the problem is beyond repair then they will replace it. If the product that is under the warranty does not work in the same manner then it would be replaced. But in our case, no one is even calling to schedule a time to come and fix my washer.

Choice Home Warranty claims

All this company has done is try to find an excuse to not pay a claim. My rental home in Phoenix had the A/C go out last week when it was 110 degrees out. CHW tried to tell me it was a cracked motor whell and that it was not covered due to lack of maintenance. Fail! I had records for the last five years of the unit being maintained and provided documentation for it. Then they became rude and said that they were not available to look at the claim until Friday and this was Wednesday. Meanwhile my tenants were melting..everytime I called the company they gave me someone else who was rude and basically just an ###. So, to make a long story short we had our own A/C guy come out and lo and behold it was something totally different so we paid for it to be fixed out of pocket due to CHW cowardness and fraud. Now they are telling us that we are in viuolation of the policy and they will not refund us the money paid to fix it. Az state law mandates that when it is 110 or more outside it must be fixed within 48 hrs...THIS COMPANY IS A BUNCH OF CROOKS...DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF!

This same similar thing happened to me. They are always denying my claims. I have paid so much money to have things repaired because the Choice Home Warranty I paid for does not cover anything. Do not use them they are crooks. Once my warranty runs out I will find another honest company, if there are any out there. If you know of any good companies, please let me know. Anyone thinking of using Choice Home Warranty should think twice. They are not a good company!

Choice Home Warranty worst home warranty

Choice Home Warranty is the worst home warranty service you will come across. Before even considering them read their agreement on their website which basically will not cover any of your appliances for the main reasons they would break down. Do not waster your money on this company check it out http://www.choicehomewarranty.com/user_agreement.php

I have never felt so ripped off in my life. This company should be sued and quite frankly this is to warn everyone that is thinking of Home protection. They simply don't follow up and they certainly have more loop holes to sneak out of the agreements. It's sad so watch out and please do your research but do not use Choice Home Warranty.

Choice Home Warranty has turned out to be a nightmare for me and my family. My air conditioner went out on us the Friday before Memorial Day. When I called for help they send out a substandard tech who told us it was a bad contactor but that they needed to order the part because they did not have it. They told me that it would not be till Tuesday because it was a weeekend and Monday was a holiday. All holiday weekend we had no air conditioner. Tuesday came and the contractor called and told me that no it was not a bad contactor and they would be sending the claim back to Choice for another tech because they did not know what was wrong. I called Choice and they kept telling me they could not find a tech to work on my system because it was a Lennox system. In all of my area they could not find anyone to work on a Lennox system! Can you believe that? I decided to find my own technician and had 3 different companies come out and tell me that my air conditioner was completely dead and needed to be replaced. I sent in to Choice the repair quote on Wednesday for the company that we wanted to have replace our system which was going to cost $3200.00 and they did not get back to me till Friday. When they finally reached a decision they denied my claim! Saying that I had not kept up my yearly maintenance on my unit which was not true as I had all the paperwork to prove that I maintenanced my system twice a year as required! Then they told me that because I had not used an authorized Lennox technician every time that i had voided the contract. Again not true! I finally wore myself out arguing with the claims adjuster and ended up having to pay for it myself! How do you know what Home Warranty company is honest and reliable? I would appreciate any suggestions anyone out there has.

Choice Home Warranty substandard repair service

CHW readily accepted and cashed our premium check, but when we ultimately had a claim, the service they provided was extemely substandard. CHW assigned the claim to a repairman located about 1 hour from our home. After 3+ months of frustrations in trying to get the repairman to our house to fix the problem, we surrendered and accepted a check from CHW to buy a new stove. Of course, the check amount was only about 25% of the price of a comparable stove. But it was painfully obvious the repairman assigned to our claim was inept and just not motivated to fix our problem. The variety of excuses why he could not come to our house was comical. CHW offered to re-assign the claim to a different repairman, but some quick research showed that repairman had an "F" rating with the BBB and pages upon pages of complaints. In our book, CHW receives an "F" for such poor repair service! No, we are not renewing with CHW.

Choice Home Warranty coverage

Do not use this company!

We made our first claim after 2 years of paying to the warranty company. Our A/C unit went out. First they told us that the A/C was not covered under our plan. Luckily we kept good records from when we applied for the service and was able to demonstrate that having the A/C covered was discussed with the sales rep. When the technician finally came out (No A/C in our sleeping area now for 5 days) we were informed that the warranty only covers 2 units (we have 3 and apparently they get to choose which units they will cover) and that they will not honor the warranty for the broken unit. To add insult to injury, they are claiming that it is our fault that the system has a leak in it - as if we went out and poked holes in our coil!

DO NOT PURCHASE A WARRANTY WITH CHOICE HOME WARRANTY! THEY ARE A SCAM!

Choice Home Warranty refused to repair

I am absolutely disgusted with the service offered by this company; I have been with other warranty companies GE and Assured and switched to Home Choice Warranty as the price for the annual contract was offered at a much lower discount than the previous companies I had, also the call out fee was half the cost; and more items in the home were covered including a limited roof leak cover. I paid the subscription fee back in February and switched my A/C units on March 22nd the units have been serviced regularly and was in fine working order; Noticed that the temp was not getting below 81 deg so called HCW who assigned a contractor whom I had to call, contacted contractor who said he was not doing any repairs and was too busy, I was then assigned another contractor who turned up and looked at just one unit 5 days later and said it was fine without checking the downstairs unit; It was the downstairs unit that actually had the problem, We had to call HCW three times to get the Tech to come back when he did eventually turn up April 7th he said that my whole unit was useless and the whole unit need replacing he would be back with a new unit after he reported to HCW, It would cost around $3, 000K In the mean time he took the Freon out of the big unit and pumped it into the small unit; Which I understood was a no no as this Freon in a unit that has failed is contaminated with humidity and can actually cause damage; I had to call HCW on the Thursday 12th to ask what was happening and they said your claim is not covered as it was a long term problem and units cannot go bad with that short of time when a policy is taken out; I explained that the unit was fine we serviced it regularly once a year how was I to know that there was going to be a problem within a few days when I switched it on; They said that they would not be replacing or repairing the unit and thank you goodbye; I called a local tech out who came out within 24 hours of calling said that there was nothing wrong with the whole unit just the dry filter needed to be replaced, he was shocked to hear what I had been told and said I had several years life in the unit; he checked the upstairs unit as well BUT found that I had an overload of Freon in the unit so had to release some and was horrified when I told him what the other Tech had done; So $400 saw two units serviced at $65.00 each a new dry filter fitted to the non working unit Freon added and I am now working fine... I feel that HCW could have done a satisfactory repair job and that I was just blown off; I feel cheated and angry at the way I have been treated I have five homes with this company and I am regretting the day I took all the contracts out after being pursued by their sales team at how great and fantastic their company was... NOT……. I urge anyone looking at this company to warranty their home, that you check everything is running perfectly and get everything certified so you have proof that your home items are in excellent working order. ELSE when you go to claim they will throw their small print at you WE DO NOT COVER PRE EXISTING KNOWN or UNKNOWN Problems….. I feel as though HCW should at least pay back my Money spent on the local tech repair minus $130 as I elected to have the units serviced, to be certain all was fine; does anyone else agree or am I the one in the wrong?

FRAUDULENT COMPANY
Choice Home Warranty is a total nightmare. It's been 11 days without air conditioning and over 35 calls to the company...The denied the charge once. I paid for 7 contracts totaling $7, 650.00...I asked to cancel, so they said they would fix the a/c...after 2 more days and still no decision when I call in as to IF and WHEN they are going to repair, I finally emailed and letter and asked them personally to cancel the contracts and prorate a refund. Supposedly, I was speaking to the owner, JIM REED, he said he would not cancel my contracts and I would not be getting any refunds. Three of the contracts is for over 5 years, do you think I can work with these people that long? I am disputing the charges with my credit card company and hopefully I will get some relief

How incredibly Lame. You have posted this same canned response of every complaint I have read. Do you think that readers can't tell that it is just copy and pasted BS?

My wife was actually about to call and purchase a contract. I asked to see reviews first and we found this site. There are two reasons why we decided not to go with your company.

The first would be the common themes from complaintants. It looks like contractors are not getting paid and the company makes it difficult to get any resolution. It also looks like policy holders are denied claims where it might mbe financialy inconvenient for Choice to pay for repairs or replacement and the company hides behind complicated contract wording.

The Second and clincher would be the impersonal response from your company to every complaint that I read. It would have been better to not respond at all than with that marketing dept drivel. It tells alot about your "Comitment" to quality customer service.

Choice Home Warranty does not honor contract

Choice Home Warranty makes wonderful promises in their sales pitch and doesn't live up to them in any way, shape or fashion. They are a scam! When you call you are put on hold for an interminable amount of time (they're hoping you will give up), then half of the time they don't have a service representative in the area so you have to find your own, pay him, and supposedly they will send you a refund. Good luck on that. I am still waiting on a refund after several calls and weeks. They keep telling me check is in the mail. The straw that broke the camel's back is my refrigerator freezer went out and once again I had to find my own repairman and after several weeks of discovery work and talks with GE, they ascertained the frig was not repairable. Not only did the company refuse to pay the initial service call, they want no part of replacing a refrigerator. They always find a loophole. You do not want to do business with this company. I am a Realtor and have done business with other home warranty companies with great success so am shocked at the lack of integrity in this company.

I am so sick and tired of dealing with Choice and cannot wait to resolve the two issues I currently have - so I can drop this company for good. I read the comments above, in one they say 'Choice has a loophole for every item in your house'. This is so true. The issue with my a/c was originally misdiagnosed by their contractor and I had to call (and pay for) my own. The company I called said it was a blower motor - THAT SHOULD BE COVERED! But after talking to my contractor, Choice FALSELY documented my contractors comments as saying the bad blower motor was due to a clogged condenser (my gut NEVER said that). Choice then used those lies as the basis of denying my claim. Through hours and hours of holding and numerous (7 so far) representatives - I am still fighting with Choice to do what they are supposed to do right from the start. HOW IS THIS COMPANY STILL IN BUSINESS? This is a nightmare. Their 'hold loop' is haunting me (I am on hold with them now ... it's been 30 minutes). This whole experience has put knots in my stomach. Choice is HORRIBLE.

Simply put, this company will not honor your contract. The company looks for reasons to deny your claim, and will not honor your contract even if the contractor says that the failure was due to normal wear and tear (which is specifically covered under the contract).

One of my claims was denied, not because the part wasn't covered, but because "something didn't seem right in the diagnosis."

Another claim was denied because the "part wasn't covered", eventhough they told both me and repair technician that is was covered, prior to him doing the work.

Another claim was denied because the "part wasn't covered", eventhough I purchased supplemental optional coverage the specifically provided coverage for the part.

Another claim was denied because there were some slight mineral deposits on the fixture. It did not matter that the technician told the representative that it was not the cause of failure and that is was not present at the part that failed. When I spoke with the representative, Ron, he accused the technician of lying when he said that the part failed from normal wear and tear. (He made this statement about a company that Choice recommended).

To make matter worse, this company could not find a contractor to work for them, so I had to pay out of pocket for all of these expenses, with promises of reimbursement from them.

Bottom Line - THIS COMPANY WILL NOT HONOR YOUR CLAIMS and THEY WILL NOT REIMBURSE YOU EVEN IF THEY SAY THEY WILL.

Please head my warning! I am consulting with an attorney to determine recourse. I have a recorded conversation with Ron from this last round where he asserted that the contractor was lying.

I filed for a claim on my washer on June 10, 2010. I was assigned a contractor who told me the washer needed a transmission part. He received approval, but then Choice replaced him. When I called the contractor he told me that CHW does not pay his bills. After that I was assigned many different contractors and when I waited for them to come, they never did. I complained bitterly because I have taken so much time off work and my washer has not been repaired. The company offered me a pay off five weeks ago on a rush of 15 days. Today is September 11, and the $260 check has not been received. When I called their offices September 9 and 10 the answering machine said they were closed for an computer outage. I am a director in IT at a large organization and you do not shut down a business where your commitment is to provide service 24 x 7; especially on weekdays. This is a very upsetting situation. Mr. Moss, I would be glad for you to check my claim and pay my bill. Look up Lesley King.

DON"T USE THIS COMPANY ! We are in the sunny state of Florida Hot! My wife and I had to get out of our house due to our ac broke. We got the run around, around and around with this company. They would not give us a answer. We explained that we are in Florida it's about 115 in our house. I told them this was a safety issue with the heat. They laugh . They stated that they have been busy and backed up. This was their reason for not responding 3 days. After 3 days they denied it. The first excuse was maintenance, Hold on second, they never asked me if I had any paperwork . Then they switched try to say our 20 year house it had rust on the ac unit. I asked several times if I could get a corporate phone number, they refused to give it to me ! They literaaly asked my wife to apologize to them for getting so upset on the phone for the denial. They { CHOICE HOME WARRANTY} talked to me like I was no one. This is ashame that a big company, and is allow to do this in the great land of AMERICA. I urge everyone to contact all local news, dateline etc. This is serious things happening to honest hard working people. The kicker is after I hire my own ac guy they stated this was normal wear and tear. Please think hard before you go with this company.

Choice Home Warranty poor and subjective service

Choice Home Warranty has to be the absolute worst Home Service Warranty company with which to work. I purchased a home warranty for a rental property in July 2011 and have had to make service calls three (3) times to have items repaired. All three times the service coverage for the items was denied. They hide behind hidden and lengthy wording in their contract documentation in order to deny claims for services. They are difficult to deal with; not timely in their response; argumentative and fail to stand behind their product. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

Choice Home Warranty contractor non-payment

Do not do business with this company! My plumbing company has been trying to get paid for over 4 months for 12 jobs we did for them totaling over $1000. We keep getting the run-around from stanley goodspeed. The contract says payment in 30 days, but you you call him he says it's more like 60 days, then the check is in the mail, then it will be a couple more weeks, etc, etc etc. This company operates under unscrupulous practices and rips off the business contractors.

We are also filing complaints with the State of Nevada. Things are tough enough without an unscrupulous scam of a company being allowed to steal from people. We agree they need to be stopped and all of us need to be paid!

In response to the comment by Choice Home Warranty:

Yes they are representative of Choice Home Warranty! Have you ever read the contract you force your service providers to sign after they have already performed services?

Here's a nice little excerpt... "Choice Home Warranty may immediately terminate this Agreement without notice to Service Provider, upon such termination all balances owed to service provider will be held in reserve for no less than 365 days, should CHW determine that Service provider caused harm to CHW by slander or Libel all balances owed to Service provider will be deemed forfeited by Service provider."

So basically Choice Home Warranty can run up a big bill with a Service provider, cancel the contract without notice and doesn't have to pay for a year or longer. Unless the Service provider tries to collect, that's "libel", and CHW doesn't have to pay at all!

Doesn't sound anything like the company you are describing does it?

Here's some more... After reading this contract and concluding that NO REPUTABLE COMPANY would word a contract in the manner that this contract is written. I decided I would decline any further work from Choice Home Warranty and not sign the contract. Then I was told by Dennis Vong (Vendor relations manager), as well as several other agents of CHW, that "If I did not sign the contract I would not get paid" for work I had already done. All work that was approved by CHW, assigned an authorization number by CHW, and properly invoiced on CHW's contractor portal!

There's a word for that... It's called Blackmail!

Choice Home Warranty is a CRIMINAL Organization hiding behind contractual law! Preying on people who couldn't imagine that CHW's level of indecency and dishonesty even existed. Well, you have done a fine job schooling them!

Signed,
One of many pissed off contractors!

Response to the Choice Home Warranty comment,

Yes they are representative of how you operate! Have you ever read the contract you force us to sign after we have already serviced your policy holders? The contract is filled with stipulations on how you can refuse payment. One in particular says, "Choice Home Warranty may immediately terminate this Agreement without notice to Service Provider, upon such termination all balances owed to service provider will be held in reserve for NO LESS than 365 days, should Choice Home Warranty determine that Service Provider caused harm by slander or libel all balances owed to service provider will be deemed forfeited"

So Choice Home Warranty runs up a big bill with a contractor and then cancels the contract. If the contractor tries to collect, that is Libel, and the balance due is forfeited. Sounds like an honest contract to me (sarcasm)!

I was specifically told by Dennis Vong, and other agents of Choice Home Warranty, that "If I did not sign the contract I would not get paid" for work already done!

That is Blackmail!

That's how you roll!

Quit blowing smoke up our Keisters!

You are a company full of Crooks!

Choice Home Warranty claim denied

Been paying for coverage for months, first time we called them out, repairman said we would need to replace gas oven due to parts not being available, but Choice Home warranty denied claim. We know our appliances are older which is why we purchased home warranty. They stated they were not an atm, and are there to make money, well we did get money from us. They said that yes, they could certainly find issues to not pay a claim, in this case, older oven, and burner had a little rust on it, yes older appliances do get rust, feel very scammed. There are certainly always reasons to be dishonest in business, I think they got that one covered.

Purchased warranty June 29, 2015. Took effect 30 days later on July 29, 2015. On July 30, forced air fan in unit stopped working. Outside temps 110+ degrees during day here in Arizona. Choice sent out local tech who confirmed fan motor was out. Repairs estimated at $620.00. He called Choice and they denied claim because warranty had only been in effect 2 days. I spoke to Choice rep and he stated that motor was "obviously in process of failing before policy took effect." I told him I thought that was the reason for the 30 day waiting period. Asked for and received refund minus $50 administrative fee. Have since lodged complaint with AZ Dept of Insurance for denial of claim. Online search reveals many such complaints against Choice.

Like many other people we have had problems with Choice Home Warranty, our clothes washer broke after 18 months and we had to get 2 different Techs to come out as the first one couldn't diagnose it.
The second Tech immediately stated the motor had worn out and this meant it had to be replaced. Choice Home Warranty decided it wasn't covered as the machine must have been overloaded with clothes to wear the motor out.
When my wife complained they basically told her it was funny that the washing machine broke after 4 weeks of cover - we have spent over $1000 in cover to add additional items, I could have bought a new ashing machine for far less than this

I have Choice Home Warranty (CHW) for my home since 5/13/2009 and the warranty expires 03/13/2010 from the contract document they sent me. I had "Perfect Temperature Air Conditioning and Heating LLC" repair the air conditioning at my house on 7/1/2009. They received authorization from CHW to go ahead and do the repairs. Perfect Temperature made the repairs and billed CHW for the remainder of the service call as per authorization. CHW has not paid them as of 5/18/2010 (today). Perfect temperature sent the invoice to a collection agency to get their money and the collection agency called me to pay the remainder of the service charge. I called CHW this morning and spoke to a not very friendly customer associate (Melanie) to hear that my contract had expired and she can not talk to me about anything that had happened in the past and a manager will call me back. She couldn't transfer the call to a manager, nor help me even though I insisted that my contract had not expired and will not until 06/13/2010. She said her 'system' shows the contract expired on 05/13/2010 and the only way they can help is having a manager call me back. I am waiting for someone from CHW to call me and resolve this issue. I have spent more than a day calling different people (perfect temperature, the collection agency, chw, looking through my contracts, invoices and payments from last year etc). This is not the first time I am wasting my time after signing up with CHW to get things taken care of. They have extremely poor customer support and do not treat their customers well.

Choice Home Warranty denied claims

The issue was with the downstairs HVAC unit. It was reported on Wednesday January 4th. The techs your company sent were Climate Makers in N. Charleston, SC. They identified the unit was without Freon. They needed to run a test to identify where the leak was. Your company denied paying for the test (how is it to be fixed without running the test?). I paid for the test and it was identified as the evaporator coil. CHW denied the claim stating it was the same unit as denied in June 2011 for lack of maintenance. In fact it was the downstairs unit, not the upstairs unit which was denied in June. It should be covered.
I called to determine why it was denied as CHW only sends an email stating they have information about the claim, not what is going on with the claim. This was approximately 4:30 pm on Friday January 6th. I keep receiving a telephony message indicating that the offices were closed at 6pm and to call back later. It was only 4:30pm, not 6pm ET. I later found out CHW closed the office early due to a celebration. CHW is not available on the weekend to discuss denied claims so I had to wait until Monday January 9th to speak to someone.
After being on hold for 30 min, they confirmed that it was denied due to being the upstairs unit and lack of maintenance (back from the June claim). I explained that it was the downstairs unit (as noted on the work order from the tech CHW sent) and not the upstairs unit. Your agent said they would send it for review again and I would hear back in about 2 hours. Four hours later and no contact, I called again. This time after being on hold for over 20 min, your agent said it had not been reviewed yet. I asked for a supervisor. After being on hold for 30 min the phone disconnected. I called again and after being on hold for 20 more minutes, the agent said they were still trying to get the supervisor on the phone and that the phone systems disconnects calls on hold after so long.
The supervisor got on the phone and said I needed to provide maintenance records to prove the unit had been maintained. They gave me the email address of [protected]@CHW. I sent not only the record of the last maintenance, June 2011, but I also send the comments from the work order from Climate Makers. That work order clearly states that the repair was needed due to ‘normal wear and tear’ and not from lack of maintenance. I was told it would be reviewed and I would receive a call within 24 hours.
I did not receive a call the entire next day, so I called again on the 11th. Again after being on hold for more than 15min, I got your agent. They indicated that they were waiting for the email. I said I had sent it and they said they would go check. Twenty Five minutes later they came back and said they couldn’t find it. I again gave them the email address that it was sent to. They said oh, let me check there. It was the email address your agent gave so why would they not know where to look? After another lengthy hold, he said they had it and I would get a call back in 2 hours with a decision.
After 3 hours with no contact, I called back. Another lengthy hold and I was told that it wasn’t reviewed yet and to call back later. I said it is getting close to your closing time at 6pm ET and was told they would be there until 7pm so please call back if no call by 5:30pm. I called again at 5:30pm because there was no return call by your agents. The agent told me the claim was still being denied due to lack of maintenance. I asked how this could be since it was just serviced in June and Climate Makers indicated it was not due to lack of maintenance. He said that was the decision. I asked for a supervisor. The supervisor said it was still denied even though I complied with providing proof. I asked to speak to his manager. He said he was a supervisor and I said I wanted to speak to his manager. He then transferred me a voice mail box with no greeting so I have no idea if it was a manager or not. I left a message with my claim number and situation and asked for all call back that evening. I have still not received a call back.
It is clearly evident that your company’s philosophy is to continue to deny claims until they wear down the customer and the customer just gives up. Since I needed HEAT and it had been more than a week already, I did just that and paid for the repair myself.
I wonder if you are aware of this practice and even condone it as way to avoid paying legitimate claims. The lack of response would indicate that it is precisely your goal to frustrate customers to the point they pay for it themselves. This behavior is shameful.

Choice Home Warranty non payment

Choice Home Warranty has never paid for our services. We serviced one of their warranty customers to repair the HVAC system. We received the authorization, submitted our invoice and after one year of trying still haven't received any form of payment. If there are any home owners or contractors out there that would like to join me in a class action lawsuit please contact me. They have a rating of "F" from the BBB. Stay away from them or you to will be doing free work.

I would like to gather as much information possible against this company so that we can get an attorney.

Choice Home Warranty refriderator

My refridgerator went out. I contacted choice home which sent a technicial out to my home. He came out and supposely repaired it. It was blowing hot hair the next day. I contacted ed appliances [protected] which informed me that he changed the compressor after I told him what happen and that he was out of the states. He advised me I would get a call from someone by the name of michelle. I never got that call. I contacted ed he was shock that I had not gotten a call from choice home. I called choice again because I had not yet gotten the call. The customer service rep informed me that I would get a call regarding an authorization. I still had not gotten a call. I called choice home again. The rep transfered me to the auth. Dept after I told her I had a complaint to file and needed to speak with a supv. I was transfered to the auth dept and spoke w/alex which transfered me to jonathan busby the supv. Jonathan informed me that they needed to talk to ed the technician and could not give me any information about my fridge. Like really? I ask to speak to someone higher than jonathan and jonathan quoted to me that is what they pay him the big bucks for and he is the only mgt as high as you could speak with. Where does this go from here. The customer service is very poor and they can be rude when you are trying to explain your situation not to mention all my food has ruined and I still have no refriderator. I have place a call to ed the technician and recv'd his voice mail. I left a detail message to contact jonathan busby [protected] x 8244 jonathan is not a nice person and being in a mgt position he should be willing to be understand and work with the customers expecially since I paid this contract in full.

Choice Home Warranty poor service

This is the absolute worst company I have ever dealt with . When First American Home Warranty raised my rates, I went shopping for a new company and found Choice. this is the biggest mistake I have ever made. My A/C has been out for over a week (in Texas, during the hottest summer on record), and the warranty company has done nothing to help me. In fact, all they HAVE done is twist the contractors words around so that they could deny my claim to get it fixed! After I offered to pay the contractor out of pocket to fix the problem, they found out that my problem had been misdiagnosed and the problem was a faulty unit, which had only been installed 14 months earlier. Now, Choice is denying my second claim because they are stating that the first problem (which never actually existed) has not been fixed. This company is not here for the consumer/home owner. Their entire goal is to take your annual fee and then deny your claims so that they don't have to spend any money to help you. This company is a huge fraud, and I cannot wait for my contract with them to be over so that I can switch to a company that actually cares about their customers.

Horrible service! My ac unit went out 4th of July, I know they would be closed. For some odd reason they sent a tech on Saturday! Only to find out the tech hire accepted the call and than was playing phone tag with the realty company (rental property we live at) After the tech hung up and we finally got a hold of him, he said he couldn't do the job! By the time we called Choice Warranty, they were closed! Guess what, no on call person either! So you would think by Monday they will have our call on top of the list! No sir they couldn't get a tech till Tuesday 7/9! That's makes it 6 days (5 days with holiday) to get a tech to come look at the ac unit. Not to mention they still have to get the part and install it, so who know how long that will take. WORST WARRANTY COMPANY OF ALL TIME! Also you would think 1st thing morning they would have someone cause they couldn't get one the day before, the tech is coming out late afternoon! WTH! Service your clients well before you go bankrupt!
