Choice Home Warranty does not repair or replace acs or appliances

My a/c compressor went out it was locked. The ac tech's report was normal wear and tear no rust. They said I didn't service the unit.

I have every year. Last one was 5/04/15 I live in southern az, where it gets above 110 degrees they refused to pay said compressors should last
18 years. All a/c manufacturers recommend replacement between 8-10 years depending on the climate. I plan to get a lawyer.

The a/c company they sent me last year said they owe him $3, 000.00 for labor and parts he used. He had to stop working for them. I paid 2200.00 for a new unit. Be smart do not ever buy a service contract from them, they lie.

Choice Home Warranty Refused to honor contract

My central AC unit stopped working. Choice Home warranty sent an AC "specialist" to diagnose the problem. He stated that the compressor was bad and had to be replaced. Choice Home Warranty refused to honor the claim stating that it would be impossible for the compressor to go bad. I had to call Mark Air In Fayetteville NC. They diagnose the problem and found out that it was not the air compressor. They repaired the unit and it's working fine. I cancelled my policy with Choice. They are nothing but a bunch of crooks!

Choice Home Warranty a/c repair

Beware of this dishonest company.

I have home warranty with choice home warranty contract#[protected] and recently filed a claim #[protected] for my air conditioner
(Make: bryant, model : 561cj042-a) when it stopped working.
The company sent the technician who diagnosed that the compressor had failed due to the reason "shorted to ground".

Normal life time of this a/c is about 12-15 years as per the technician and this a/c has been running for almost 19 years
Which reflects the maintenance I do about the appliance.

But choice home warranty (Chw) is denying the claim saying that the unit is not properly maintained and invoked some fine print
Saying that it failed due to rust and corrosion which is not at all mentioned by the technician who attended the unit.
And now chw is trying to buy me off with a cash offer of $500 in place of $2500 worth a/c unit.

I see that chw has denied claims like this multiple times for various customers with the same reason and I see a pattern of malpractice.

Please note that this company is engaged in just providing some repair work but does not really replace any broken appliances.
It always finds some reason to deny the claim when a unit needs to be replaced. So it not exactly a home warranty company but charges premium like one.
Heard from some of the contractors that chw advises them to change their report to suit the requirement of the company so that it can deny the claim.
I see the chw is already penalised by nj, division of consumer affairs and has been advised to change its business practice.
Inspite of that and more than 1000 complaints in bbb and bad reviews in multple sites, chw is continuing with its malpractice.

Please beware and research yourself well before wasting your hard earned money on this fraudulent company.

Thanks
Gururaj bhat

Choice Home Warranty Ripoff

Bought an older house recently, so Realtor advised getting a Home Warranty Plan to cover my appliances through Old Republic, with $100 Service Calls. Had problems with dishwasher not draining, and dryer not heating up. Company scheduled Bay to Bay Appliance Repair. Tech came out telling me water in the dishwasher was normal, and there was nothing wrong with the dryer, just use a different setting, and made inappropriate personal comments. I told him the electric company said it was the heating element, so he finally said he would have one ordered. Called Old Republic to complain. They said they would obtain a different repair tech. Bay to Bay called me to set up a 2nd appointment, but told me they were not told of any problem, or sending out a different tech., but would do so at my request. Old Republic does not seem to be ethical if they do not follow through on their promises!

Choice Home Warranty cancel policy retroactively when must pay for new washer

This episode covers three months and two appliances. 1. When my washing machine broke they sent a repairman who said it needed to be replaced. Choice Home Warranty said they were sending me $299 to replace it! This was June 2015 - But it could not be replaced for that little money. They said $299 was their cost to replace it. Okay, where can I get the washer at your cost? "You can't" they said. You mean I cannot buy a washer for the price you say you pay for one? "Yes, that's right." They said. What a rip off! 2. So I bought another washer and waited for the check. It didn't come. 3. Then in July 2015 my dryer needed a new gas regulator. A man came and replaced it. I had to pay the $45 fee to him. He said it also needed a new vent hose to go outside. That was $150 and Choice did not pay that. I called Choice and asked why. They were irritating and I said I would cancel if they didn't pay better. (They had taken my $40 monthly fee just 4 days earlier. Therefore I would be cancelling beginning the next month - August). The guy on the phone said my $299 check from June for the washer was waiting to be sent and he was revoking it and sending me a "prorated monthly fee back." What?! I did not ask for it to be cancelled for July, but for August. (I was still waiting for my check to come). They hung up on me. Even the repairman (for the dryer) had said they were a ripoff before he had left. I would go to great lengths to AVOID DOING ANY BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY ON ANY LEVEL! TELL YOU FAMILY AND FRIENDS TO A V O I D THEM AT ALL COSTS!

On the CHW site there is an area where you can state you do not want to auto renew the policy. So I did that two months before it expired. I just received an email that CHW was going to make my policy a monthly auto renewable policy, being charged $34 per month to make it easy on me and that I won't have lapse in coverage? Do you believe that crap? I hadn't even signed up initially on a monthly policy. I paid it in three installments. I actually even called CHW two months ago advising that I was not going to renew and she told me that this policy is not an auto renew policy anyway. WOW. So now CHW has raised my blood pressure, which I have a medical condition for. Now, I am going to also send a letter on another home I have covered and send them a letter via certified/return receipt to make sure this happen twice. But I am going to contact my attorney regardless.

Choice Home Warranty refusal to replace

My oven stopped working in the middle of fixing dinner. The next day I called Choice where I had had been with for 2 years and explained the problem. The next day I had a service man out to take a look and he determined the control board was bad and it would take week to get the part. Next day I received a call from Choice telling me that the control board is not longer available and that it was only worth $180.00. They would not replace the oven as they suggest in their sales literature.
I have been paying $400.00 a year for protection and the first time they are faced with a bigger expense; they weasel out and refer to the contract language all the way in the back of their book.

I am thinking class action as I see they have done it to hundreds of others.

Choice Home Warranty not covered

Bought choice home warranty and the first call was for plumbing, they charged me $60 for the service call and said the shower head was too large for the pipe, and it wasn't covered. I called a regular plumber, they said that wasn't the case and fixed it for $70.
Called the home warranty again for my AC and cannot get a person to take my call. 117 degrees outside. They are terrible. Had to pay a full year upfront and I got totally ripped off.

Choice Home Warranty customers and vendors

As far as the customers they holders of home warranty policies, after talking to them about their plumbing issues and discussing with him what choice home warranty covers and what they don't cover, , , they all say they have been misled, not just one, but every single one of the 56 customers I have been in contact with through service calls from choice home warranty...
They will cover a garbage disposal replacement as long as I ( plumbing Contractor) pay for it out of my own pocket... They assured me that they will pay me within 90 days of my invoice... But after listening to their customers, I'm thinking that might be a mistake – no thanks!

Choice Home Warranty will not honor repairs as stated in warranty

BUYER BEWARE! This is the WORST home warranty company that I have ever dealt with. I have had this warranty since July of 2014. I called on 5/18 to have my air conditioner fixed. First, they couldn't get a technician to come until two days later. Then, when he came he said it was a compositor unit on the AC was bad, he replaced it (about $10.00) and I paid him the $45.00 service fee. When the house didn't cool down, I called him back and he would not respond. Called Choice Home Warranty, they said that they would send him back out. He now diagnosed the problem as a bad compressor and it would be 1, 200.00 dollars to fix it.. Choice home warranty denied the claim. Said it was not covered because it could be a manufacturer defect, or power surge, or not doing proper maintenance. I maintained that unit every year. They are liars, cheats, and dishonest people at this company. Someone needs to put them out of business. I encourage everyone to file a complaint with the Government Consumer Protection Office (www.usa.gov), the federal trade commission, and the better business bureau. Also, the technician that came to my house told me they won't pay them for the work they performed either. This company is pocketing the money from warranty policy premiums and not owning up to the agreements that they made with the consumers. If anyone wants to do a class action suit, I'm in!

Choice Home Warranty fraud company

We have had this company for 2 years this june. Have only had to use it once that they repaired was my garage opener. My freon has gone out for my upstairs unit. They have been out here to put freon in 5 times including last month april, no one asked the tech to check where the problem is so 4 days ago when we filed a request the tech came out yesterday late again no call to say when and why he was going to be late. He said that we needed freon and i said i know but it is time for a new unit. He then said that he needed to see where the problem was coming from really after 5 times. Checked it out and ordered the part and the company choice home warranty said it wasn't covered the coles in hvac were covered and it was neglect on our part hell we didn't put the ac in who knew. They need to be charged for them taking all of our money. Sign me up. Email me please. . [protected]@yahoo.com. Blast them on social media as well!

Submitted 5 claims and they refused them outright for reasons that were hidden in the back of the contract. For example, they refused my claim that the tub was off-sided and would sometimes vibrate just because I had a service we call about 3 years previous about another issue.

Never pay! Always find some reason. Heat not working. Tech comes out, never says a word about rust. Choice doesn't want to pay because of rust. I asked to see a copy of the Techs report, They refused!
Waited almost three weeks in June for air repair, finally called someone myself and paid for it.

Choice Home Warranty company doesn't pay claims

I filed 2 claims on April 29, 2015, one for my broken front loading washer and the other for my oven. Let me just say they denied both, but the oven claim is where they really got creative. I was told that the technician reported that the control board of my oven went out. This caused the oven to malfunction while self-cleaning and catch fire. Get this they denied the claim based on the secondary fire (which is not covered) even though the technician reported the malfunctioned (brain). After I complained enough they offered me $91 to replace the control board of a totaled oven that the firemen, had to break the glass and door to put the fire out on. The technician reported the stove as a total loss. So after arguing with them to no avail, I told them as soon as my claim was settled I would be cancelling my policy. I was told by Warmesha that even though I was paid for the entire month of May, if I canceled then on the 9th of May, not only would I not receive a prorated refund, they also would not honor the existing claim and send me the $91 check. I argued that the claim/ incident happened during a time that I had coverage (April 27, 2015) and in fact I am still covered. They insisted that their policy stated that if I canceled they didn't have to honor my claim. So I said send me my check and then cancel my policy. Warmesha stated it didn't work like that, if I had any intention of cancelling, I would not be paid. Warmesha then stated that SHE was going to cancel my policy; I explicitly told her not to cancel, just send me the money ($91) for my claim and disconnected the call. This was 5/12/2015. I called today 5/19/2015 to check the status of my claim and was informed that my policy had been canceled by WARMESHA at MY request. After speaking to Michael ID #1852181 I was told that my policy would not be reinstated and my claim would not be paid since I was no longer a customer of CHW. I requested a manager and got Jose ID# 1852180 and was then told, that they never should have offered me any compensation and he was rescinding that offer. He also stated that he would try to reinstate my policy; I declined that offer and instead asked for a refund of my May premium. Jose stated that even though Warmesha canceled my policy against my will, they had not assessed me the $50 cancelation fee, if I insisted on a refund of the 3 unused weeks he would then apply the $50 cancellation fee. I then informed him again that this call as well as ALL previous calls regarding this claim was being recorded. He promptly hung up. This company is a SCAM, they are in business to collect premiums ONLY. Their moto is “you get more and pay less” the truth is you pay less and get NOTHING. Unfortunately, I didn’t check online reviews BEFORE signing with the company. Do yourself a favor and check ALL reviews and complaints and GO WITH ANOTHER REPUTABLE company. All the complaints are the, same premium collected, claim DENIED. I am contacting the AG, the BBB and any other legal recourse possibly available to me. I am going to diligently try and get a class action law suit filed against this fraudulent company. I f I could give ZERO stars I would, unfortunately like everything about this company you have to give them something.

Choice Home Warranty customer service

Your sales representative Ezra phone number [protected] needs to take customer services classes. He's rude and very unprofessional to his customers. No wonder so many bad reviews on this company. I do not want to be associated with this company if they employ people of the nature. He hung up in my face! When I called him back, he picked up and hung the phone up. Horrible, horrible service and unacceptable!

Their warranty documents indictate that we had wait 30 days before making a claim. Well, we did - our water heater died yesterday.. 37 days after getting the contract began. Those idiots are trying to say it's only 7 days valid! They are a scam! We've paid two installments, but are cancelling this junk and reporting them to every media we can, including the BBB!

Choice told me I had only been with them for five months and therefore they did not want to cover the large expense of an airconditioner. Then they play games with the maintanence records. They are such scam artists. I wish I had read this complaint board before signing up with them. I hope others do not fall into the horrible trap I did. They make a lot of promises in the end that are frauds.

Agree, My heater fan has some issues. Technician said he has to replace a new one and has to place the order for the part.
Choice said not approved as it is RUSTED. I sent the photos to them saying No rust at all on the fan. after 2 weeks they ordered the fan. Parts not came yet . This is Fourth week . December last week to Jan last week in NJ weather... How can we live in this winter?
Fortunately I had some back up plan and I am technical, So I had some temporary quick fix.
I want to be out of this insurance soon.

Choice Home Warranty refuse to honor claim

BEWARE! I know this company appears tempting because of the lower rates. I fell for it and got a major screw job. They will honor the small claims. But once a big one comes, they will flat out refuse to pay. You will hear one of these two excuses, "pre-existing condition" or "failure to provide proper maintenance". PEOPLE, PLEASE LOOK AT ALL THE BAD REVIEWS. And if that's not enough to convince you, even the NJ Attorney General is trying to shut them down. The company is owned by a group of slick, greasy East Coast lawyers. They have their local BBB in their pocket and will skirt any small claim lawsuits with a bunch of fine writting in the contract. BE SCARED, BE VERY SCARED!

Choice Home Warranty refused to pay the covered services.

There was a leakage in our kitchen sink and bathroom sink. Called several times but no plumbing services would pick up the call they assigned to. One of them picked up and scheduled an appointment but never showed up. Finally I called Benjamin Franklin plumbing services and within few hours the guys came and fixed the problem and at the same time called and updated to Choice home warranty agents. I made a payment for USD 409 for the services. The agent then tells me that the charges are not covered by the policy and they will pay only 127 that too of their good will. I realized that this is all gimmicks and they are big cheats. These people should be put into jail for taking coverage money upfront and providing false promises. No one takes action for this kind of harassment. They are a big Cheat and they are trapping innocent citizens into this false play. Finally I had to cancel my service and will see if I get my my money back, if not I will file a law suit against these cheats.

Choice Home Warranty bait and switch

We all need to come together and form a class action lawsuit against CHW. I called CHW about many of my kitchen electrical outlets going out one by one. I told their Representative there are three GFI outlets in my kitchen, why I don't know, but the problem seemed to start with them. The last switch to go was the dishwasher outlet. They sent out an electrician who only looked at the GFI outlet although I told him about the other outlets that don't work and told him about the outlets for the electric stove, the microwave oven which do still work and about the last outlet to go out in which the new dishwasher was plugged. I asked if he would pull out the dishwasher and refrigerator to check those outlets too. He would only look at the 3 GFI outlets over the counter top. He took the cover off of one, managed to reset it, although they wouldn't reset when I tried to push them in to reset them. He said the problem is that the outlets would need to be rewired as this will happen again, however, they should be working for now. I told him the dishwasher outlet must not be working because I can't turn it on. He said he was going to call in the situation to CHW to see if they will cover rewiring the electrical system, then both CHW and he would get back to me. He asked for the $45. I could feel the scam right then. He was exaggerating what needed to be done to increase his payday. He didn't care whether CHW paid him or not because he thought he had me over a barrel and could just get me to pay him. That seems like from these other complaints that is how CHW works anyway. It's just that there are some of us who don't fall for the okee-doke. We all need to come together and file a Class Action Lawsuit against CHW. Anybody know of an attorney?

I would really like to get a class action law suit against Choice Home Warranty Service. This company should not be allowed to stay in business, they are rip-off professionals.I have had AC problems for over two months and they have been unable to fix them. Finally got one of their people in to look over my unit, and he said I needed 3 different parts to fix my problem, CHW said it was not covered, got my own AC man spent $300.00 and it was fixed. All the people they use are complaining that CHW does'nt pay them, lets try to get this company closed up for good. ANYONE WITH ME? BOB WHITE [protected]

Choice Home Warranty refused coverage

I came home from church after Ash Wedenesday services to find my furnance not working. It was almost 10 pm - 11 degrees below zero (actual) with a wind chill of 28 degrees below zero. I was worried that our pipes would freeze. I called a company and they came out and saw that there was a danger in leaving everything connected so they disconnected everything. The next day - I called in to work and had that company come back out. I called Choice Home Warranty and explained what had happened and the customer service rep also spoke to the technician. He gave me a claim number and emailed me a reimbursement form. A new furnance was installed and I mailed all the information to Choice. Because I did not call them on Wednesday night - even though it was very dangerous with the weather they would not even reimburse a partial claim. Very, very unprofessional of them.

Choice Home Warranty Refuses to cover claim

I recently placed a claim with HSA due to a leak coming from the drain area in the tub. The technician was sent to my home and he showed every step of his diagnosis. He showed me what was leaking and walked me through the repair step by step. He collected the $75 “trade call fee” and gave me a receipt and explanation of the work needed in writing. He then left and said he would submit his report to HSA and they send him back to make the repair. He said it would be covered because I had waste and drain coverage.
The next day someone from HSA contacted and said that some of the costs associated with the repair would not be covered and they needed me to agree to pay that before they could send the technician back to complete the work. When I asked for more details I was told that they only cover the part that is mechanically failing and I would have to cover the rest. They said that that I would need to pay for the overflow pipe and that parts and labor would be $200. In addition they said that I needed to pay another $279 dollars for parts and labor for 4 additional feet of new pipe that needed to be upgraded to PVC. When I asked what they were going to cover they said they would cover the part that is mechanically failing at a cost $130. When I asked what part was mechanically failing they said the tub waste overflow.
I tried to explain that a tub waste overflow includes the overflow pipe and all other parts needed to make this repair they just kept saying saying that the pipes weren’t failing so the pipes weren't covered. Obviously no one answering their phones knows anything at all about even basing plumbing. I even tried to get someone to look it up on the internet. Seriously if you type “tub waste overflow” into a search engine you can clearly see what it includes.
Then I asked about the additional 4 feet of new pipe that needed to be upgraded to PVC. They said their technician said it needed to be done in order to complete the repair. I told them that all of the pipes were already PVC. Then I was told that they have to go with what their technician tells them. I went through the repair step by step with the technician and he never showed or told me about any pipe that needed to be upgraded. In addition his written receipt and description do not mention this 4 feet of new pipe. Only a tub waste overflow.
I even took photos of the all the pipes in question and the receipt and description from the technician. When I asked for an email address so that I could send them the info for them to look over they refused to even give me an email address. After talking to multiple representatives and supposed supervisors I turned to the BBB hoping for some time of mediation and common sense.
I filed my complaint with the BBB stating that I “simply want HSA to have the leak repaired. If they will not cover the full cost I would like an itemized, detailed, explanation showing what parts and labor they are covering and their cost, along with what parts and labor I am being asked to cover and their cost.” The response I received from them is as follows:

“The HSA contract covers only the primary failure, which is the waste and overflow component part. In order to replace this, the existing piping is not compatible for the proper repairs to be done and needs to be replaced.  As the existing piping is not failing, this replacement piping is not covered per the terms and conditions on the contract.
Homeowner--$200 for parts and labor for the overflow pipe, $295 for parts and labor of approximately 4 feet of new piping that needs to be upgraded to PVC piping.
HSA-$130 for a flat rate for these repairs.”

They still included work that is unnecessary and over priced and still refuse to explain exactly what they claim to be covering instead referring to it as a flat rate. I rejected their offer but it in a spirit of compromise born from a desire to have the repair complete I agreed to accept a check for the $130 and handle the repairs myself. In response to my effort to work things out:

“The homeowner should have paid the $75.00 deductible to the vendor at the time of diagnosis.  The $130 is before the deductible, so the reimbursement amount is $55.”

HSA promptly refused to pay full $130 instead saying they would subtract the $75 service trade call fee I had paid from their part of the bill and only give me $55.
I have also rejected the $55 and I am insisting on at minimum the full $130. This is in spite of the fact I still feel they should cover the entire repair, but it least it would cover the parts that are actually needed. I am still trying to resolve this issue as write this review and the outcome is yet to be known.
In short DO NOT purchase a warranty from HSA and if you are offered one by a seller just ask for the $500 in cash or request it be purchased from another company.

Called for service and got run around so I cancelled service and issued written notice per contract agreement. Requested refund on pro-rata basis per contract agreement and have NOT received my refund and they fail to answer emails or return calls. I have had contracts with several other such companies with no problems, this is the worse company I have ever done business with and would not recommend to anyone!

They are running a limited time only special $100 off! They must be starting to feel some pressure, and know their scam has just about run its course...if anyone knows of another way to protect other unsuspecting souls, let me know.

Don't be a victim!

They did the same to me ! We did the work, paid for the materials, and filed all of the required documents as per their guidelines, yet they have not paid me. At present they owe me more than $6000. Stanley Goodspeed seems to be the front man for this fraud. I have sent dozens of emails to all of their corporate officers and none of them has has responded. AVOID CHIOCE HOME WARRANTY or you will be sorry.

Choice Home Warranty refused claim

My HVAC unit went out --it was 15 years old. Choice Home Refused to pay because of "rust & corrosion" ------what else would you expect from a15 year old unit sitting outside! I reviewed the contract. Nothing was stated under the category of heating & air relative to rust/corrosion being an exclusion. But ---in the back pages are paragraphs and paragraphs full of exclusions about every thing imaginable. I doubt they ever pay a claim! Now we have been without heat for the five coldest days of the year. I used to use First American. They never reneged on a single claim. Here's a warning to all you Choice Home Warranty customers--you are throwing your money away!

Choice Home Warranty never got paid.

I began my contact with them 2/7/14 which will be ending soon. The first time I called them was a issue with my washing machine. They couldnt find anyone to contact out and told me to find someone and they would pay me I had to pay the service man 45. which was in my contact. Had to wait a long time for monies back. I blew that off thinking ok that is the way they do it. Then Middle of December 2014 I had plumbing problems. I called them they had no one to come to home to service again asking me to call my plumber. I called they came out and fixed it and I gave them a check paying the whole thing. When I sent the bill in they said that is too much money we cant give you the full amount because that is NOT what OUR plumber would of charged! I told them they could not find a plumber and told me to get one. They said we are sorry we could only give you 1/2 of what you paid! I then got in the mail a renewal from them asking me to renew. NO WAY NO HOW never again! As of today Jan 5th I have not got that check back from them. This company has ripped me off ..bad company to do business with.
