I am a service provider in Texas who did work for Choice Home Warranty.I recently have been told my accoun was closed and would have to wait a min of 365 days for payment.I completed 8 work orders submitted for payment and after 3 months of calling and being told
1.Never recieved fax
2.Proper paper work not on file
3.Fax machine not working
4.Check is in the mail
5.Accounts payable department closed
6.Check never mailed, its going out next week
Now if I call and charge customer for work performed, it will void contract and funds will not payed, not that im ecpecting payment.I WOULD NOT RECOMEND DOING WORK FOR THIS WARRANTY COMPANY OR BECOMING A CUSTOMER...

Please check your 1099's. Not only were we not paid but they sent us a 1099. I would hate for a contractor to get taken advantage of even more then they already have.

Not paying vendors is a 'business practice' for Choice Home Warranty. Sorry to be so blunt, but we Vendors are funding this fraudulent company's business operations. We have worked off and on with this company for several years. Their slow pay strategy is a way to get vendors into them for thousands in repairs, then they throw the performance BS at you and cut off payments. We are estimating that most vendors that have ever worked with this company has some kind of payment dispute. We are initiating a class action lawsuit against these frauds. Choice home warranty has done this to me. I'm a contractor out of Arizona. Choice owes well over $8000.00. They stopped my account because of high tickets. My swo. We're all authorized. I purchased air conditioner numerous times. Then when it was time to pay they shut the communication down. Said 180 days until they will pay. It now has been well over 180 days. It's excuse after excuse. I am filling lawsuit on Choice.

We have been dealing with CHW since 2011 and we have always had to chase our payments, they're always late paying or their accounting department changing the amount being paid at the time of payment and on March 10, 2022 we received a work order, replaced two shower cartridges and a kitchen faucet with a side sprayer, total amount due to be paid by Choice Home Warranty was $545. On April 15, 2022 when I started calling about this payment, they told me our account was put on hold for 180 days for turning down work orders due to Covid 19 illness multiple times, on day 180 I checked they said that it had been released but then put back on hold. No reason was given, only that they were experiencing a glitch in the system and it would be escalated. As of April 11, 2023 it has been escalated numerous times (5) approximately, with no answer. They blocked the online site to our company so we cant view the site any longer. I told them I would be billing the customer because this is "theft of services" they told me I couldn't bill the customer but yet they don't pay either. I wonder if all the money they pay these actors would be frugal if the actors new what a false and fraudulent company they were.

So choice now changed their system where you can't even speak to a live person and the message says go to relyhome.com when you sign on it you find out that there's no record of your work orders or the jobs you completed .

im in AZ too, they paid me on 1 of 5 jobs. Now they will not reply, and they no longer take phone calls at all from any vendors, you have to message via their webpage.

Im also in AZ, they havent paid me...Now you literall cant call,text,email or chat with anyone.Their number says that clearly, they do not take live calls anymore. I cant even ask wheremy checks are...Unreal that they feel this ok.They need tobe set in front of a judge and shown what justice costs.Scumbag company

Hello.

i as well is a hvac service company in illinois who chw and hwa owe me 6400 dollars. they shut me down as well stating im to expensive and had to wait 6 months for payments to be payed. it now is going on 8 months and no payment. i as well have talk to vendor relations who has told me that they have been waiting for an email back from accounting and havent gotten one. chw also did this to us about 6 years ago to use owing 5500 dollars and never payed. they feel they can just also change what they atho to us. These companies need to be shut down, there a scam and dishonest.

Hello,

I am an HVAC service provider in Illinois, CHW owes us about 6K since Dec 2021.

I have been calling and emailing CHW and I have been getting excuses from the vendor relations team regarding payment.

This is ridiculous, anyone whos issues has been resolved can you please share some insight. At this point I would like to join this class action lawsuit and start charging them for the time it's taking me to collect payment.

I too am a contractor or should I say was a contractor for them. I started out I was put on a 6-month temporary deactivation and was told that I couldn't get paid for the my unpaid invoices until my temporary deactivation was up. I have now reached my 6 months and contacted them and was told they are not going to reactivate my account. My response is okay that's fine now how do I go about getting paid what is owed. I am still waiting on a response.

I am so ready to do a class action lawsuit against choice home warranty. We did work for one of their customers. They authorized an approval for a certain amount. We did the work and now are paying us way less. I spoke to someone from customer service vendor relations and she told me the price changed because it wasn't the price in our price guide. We never put those prices in there and we sure never put that we charge $55/hr. I have also never put in the price guide that I charge $300 for an opener.I have complained to accounting a couple times as well as spoke to vendor relations by messages from my portal as well as spoke to them on the phone. I will never accept another work order from this company again. They are fraudulent and they won't pay what they approve. The sad part is the customer that I did the work for said that they would back me 100% against Choice Home Warranty. Time to contact my lawyer.

I work hard and try to play by the rules, don't know why there are different rules for big companies than for small business owners. Wow I just received my first work order. I didn’t even sign up to be a vendor. I was trying to read up and understand more about how they issue payments and couldn’t get more information till I agreed to the terms of the agreement I was trying to inquire about. They temporary deactivated my account, told me to finish the work orders I had open and then to contact vendors relations to reactivate. After completing all the jobs are then contacted the vendor's relations and at that time I was told I was put on 180 temporary deactivation and I couldn't get paid for my invoices until after that time was up and they would reactivate me then. Time is up and I just contacted them and they informed me they are still going to keep me in deactivation status. I've asked him about all my unpaid invoices and have yet to receive a response. It's impossible to get anybody to talk to you on the phone and the people that return their messages in the vendor's portal don't seem to be any help. Their system is a joke. Other Home Warranty companies that we work with actually have a contractors relations member that is a sign to your company and communicate when there is a problem. We never received a call or anything stating that there was problems or that we are doing something wrong and things we need to work on instead we were just all the sudden we were deactivated

We are in the same situation. CHW owe us more than 20K and we have been waiting for payment since April 2022. It seems that they are collecting as much money they can and then file for bankruptcy!

their reason I am 30% higher than other venders. no other response

They have always payed me until now.

Reading your post, this is nothing new.

Same situation here. Ran 6 service calls for choice home warranty, totaling around 2k in AUTHORIZED repairs. Now, payment is being withheld. This place is a full on scam, not only for contractors, but for homeowners as well.

Our Company is in Michigan and we have also not been paid for doing work by CHW. We did the jobs back in March 2023. We have tried contacting them, submitting invoicing,ect. We were approved for every job and have all the approval information.

I wish I would have found this place prior to accepting to work with Choice Home Warranty. We are a small plumbing company & they owe us over $6000 and are refusing to pay stating "your stats are too high".

They have frozen our account for 180 days so that includes no payments will be made and no work orders will be given, yet they are insisting our stats are too high and once we bring our stats down we'll be paid and be sent work orders again.

#1 why are you paying NOW for work that was completed months ago?

#2 how can we improve our stats if you refuse to send us work oders?

I get the same response from them "your account is on hold for 180 days. You can try to request payment in February". Plus, one of their customers cancelled their plan AFTER their water heater was installed & they refused to pay their co-pay. CHW refuses to do anything with that too.

I will tell everyone I can to steer clear of this warranty company as they don't pay for work that was authorized and completed and they continually reduce the dollar amount owed on invoices to suit their needs, payment wise.

I am also in the same crappy position. I have invoices past 60 days old that are now magically having their prices change by 30-40% less than I invoiced for. All are invoiced at the agreed upon rate and have authorization numbers , but at 45 days PAST when I purchased, completed, and invoiced the jobs, they have an issue with the amounts. CHW is currently $12,200.00 in arrears to me now for authorized invoices. It's time to band together and sue the F out of them!

My company is getting a lawyer and also contacting the NJ Attorney General. On top of that will take it to the News Media. Not only Vendors are complaining about CHW, consumers are furious with them. So I believe we Vendors need to group up and take them to court and get consumer attention to stay away from CHW. They are THIEVES!

i just began working for warranty companies, reached out to my lawyer and paid to get legal advice.

i have began and worked on and resolved over 60 service calls from choice home warranty and home warranty of America, which is the same company and a 3rd sister company that i declined work from.

they bombarded me with work so with the customers paying upfromt 45-85$ it seemed like a good idea at the time if i can make 3-400$ a day to cover some overhead.

i did about a months worth of work for them and had alot of Authorizations over 12k

I’ve paid for all parts up front and labor overhead costs etc.

Have they paid? no

will they pay? i'm not sure

That 12k they “authorized” got dropped down to 8k and still dropping.

I’m showing job losses on all of these claims.

at this point i can try and bill these homeowners for the work that was done or i can try and keep reaching out to choice through there platform since there is no contact information for them.

this is a giant scam, like legit as bad as it gets.

they take millions from homeowners, then hire contractors like me and choose to not pay me or

Can we do that? The contract states we can not be a part of a class action suit. They owe me 11k ---8k of that in equipment and parts. I sent a demand letter for reimbursement, they put my payments on hold for 180 days but I feel reimbursement is different as it was for equipment purchased of their behalf for their customers. I thought of billing the customers but think it states we cant do that either in the contract.

This is very frustrating! Let me know what you find out

I have not heard anything.

I tried to email their attorney via his official email address but it was closed down. Then I tried to send it to his CHW email address and it was also shut off.

Hello Everyone, I would like to add my complaint into the mix.

I was contacted by CHW around the 1st of July 2022 begging me to catch up some backlog work orders. I told them upfront that I could but I had minimums that had to be met.

I charge out at $85.00 / Man Hour for a Tech with a 2 hour minimum plus a $30.00 Truck Charge to cover the price of fuel and wear and tear for driving it into some of the places we have here in the Smoky Mountains. Plus anything outside of our standard driving area we charge $2.02 / mile for all miles past 30 out and the same on return. I also told them that once the tech reaches the customer's location they are on the clock until the repair is completed and that includes going to acquire parts.

They responded saying that would be fine and gave me a load of service calls for HVAC and Electrical Issues.

#1 - HVAC - the blower fan had self destructed the cage. They refused to cover it, so no Authorization Code Number and they refused to pay my minimum.

#2 - Electrical - Simple fix, a loose wire on a switch, they gave me an ACN and let me fill out an invoice.

#3 - HVAC - The Capacitor was bad. They complained that the charge was too much until I explained that the client's place was in BFE an hour from the nearest parts store. Then they gave me an ACN and let me invoice it.

#4 - HVAC - The previous Tech that was sent out by CHW had butchered the wires and then tried to hook up the low voltage side wires to 240vac and blew the Thermostat off the wall and scorched the wall. It melted the control board and the transformer. CHW didn't want to cover the repairs until I told them the client had a lawyer and was ready to sue their Liability Insurance Company. They gave me an ACN, but before everything was ready they froze my account and didn't tell me. The client reached CHW and was told he could pay for it upfront and submit the invoice for reimbursement.

#5 - Electrical - Another BFE call. Just tracing out the problem took 2 hours to find and they started to complain that I fixed it before I called and got Authorization but they finally broke down and gave me an ACN.

#6 - HVAC - simple fix got an ACN and submitted an invoice no problem. (The client even referred me to others in her neighborhood.)

#7 - HVAC - The Client had her filter so dirty the unit couldn't move any air. CHW gave me an ACN but when I tried to invoice it they complained that my bill was too high even though it was my minimum service call rate.

#8 - Electrical - Took a little while to figure this one out but the breaker was bad. It was allowing 120 volts except when it had even the slightest load. I replaced the breaker and then got the ACN.

They complained that I was doing work before receiving authorization, and froze my entire account. Then they sent me a Vendor Portal Note telling me that it would be atleast 180 days to get paid. I replied that I would put a Mechanics Lean on every single project until the client or CHW paid.

I sent all of the clients a text a little while ago telling them: CHW is refusing to pay me for atleast 6 months. I told them by law I have to file a Mechanic's Lien against the clients property and then file a lawsuit. Please note I am trying to pressure them into paying me in a timely manner.

I understand the frustration. I just told them: I am not your employee, I am a contractor. My price is my price and if you don't like it then hire someone else. If I do a job for you and you don't pay me I will contact the client and file suit against you and them.

A lot of states have Theft of Services laws and using the DA in your area to charge them under that law is pretty easy. Take a look and see if your state allows you to have them charged. That will get their attention.

I have been a vendor for choice home warranty since 2018. They’ve always been slow pay, but here recently they’re not paying at all. I have unpaid invoices that are over 100 days. No one will return my calls, text or emails. Considering legal action if this goes on much longer. Vendors beware.

I am a vendor for choice home warranty. I sent in a diagnosis to replace a garage door op Ed and they approved the amount and sent me authorization # for that amount. A month later I invoiced that amount and they slashed my invoice saying it’s to high. They were trying to pay me $185 to replace a opener that which I provided. This is not even enough to cover the cost of the equipment. CHW is now telling me the most they can pay is $300, leaving me about $65 in labor, hardly enough to cover my fuel. I don’t care about price guides if I am given approval and a authorization for a amount. The. That is a written agreement, that should be held up on both sodes

For day I argued with them through the portal because they wouldn’t talk to me over the phone. After many messages they finally said they would give me a “courtesy” payment this one time. And I need to change my price guide so that this won’t happens again. I tried to change my price guide and they would t let me because my prices were to high. $400 to change i garage door opener is not high. So I won’t be doing anything else and am hoping I want have problems receiving the remaking $2000 they owe me now.

CHW is a scam for consumers. They take your money and try to talk you into a 3 year contract at a reduced rate. Thank goodness I only did one year. But. For $528 for that year, they can't find a technician to do the work on my washing machine and keep pushing the "reimbursement" process which means that they are off the hook to find the service technician. Then if you take that process they deny the claims because the technician didn't file the proper paperwork or take appropriate photos. I didn't do the reimbursement process but they can't find anyone in my area to do the work. I asked when I took out the policy if they had technicians in my small town area and they assured me that they did. But they don't. It's all a scam and my next step is to contact my state attorney general's office and report them. My ONLY claim was on the washer and it was a total waste of my money to have this "policy".

I have the same problem me being a small company just one guy they want me to buy a hot water heater for customer I’m working for they want me to flip the bill send in my invoice and wait 35+ days to get paid the first job I did with for them the customer hired me to buy the hot water heater and put it in . I billed them and they sent my receipt into choice home warranty to get reimbursed my second hot water heater I installed I was told by customer service in choice home warranty they would expedite my check within 10 business days it’s been three weeks still nothing these people are very unprofessional they hang up on you they try to get you to work for less somebody should really look into this company thank you

Document all your work to include Work order, authorizations number for approval, and any other billing and invoice information. I suggest you stop doing work for them,... They are schisters... and beat hard work contractors out of money... I'm in the midst of auditing payments... I'v only done work for these con-artists since the end of January, they racked up nearly $6,000 in that time and have only paid maybe $400.

I DO NOT USUALLY LEAVE REVIEWS BUT FEEL IT IS IMPORTANT AS IT COMES TO CHOICE HOME WARRANTY. I took out a warranty with CHOICE two years ago. There are some important points to review in picking out the warranty for your home and to have peace of mind. Choice does allow you to pick out your own contractor however you will find that most of the top rated repair companies will not work with Choice even on a reimbursement basis. Here is why, it takes Choice up to a month to reimburse and some companies have found that they are not reimbursed at all as Choice finds loopholes to deny a claim. They do the same with their warranty holders. I had two larger claims that were denied though the warranty I had in hand made them "appear to be covered". I had a few claims that they covered however they were small in nature and Choice picked the contractor. I went weeks without my cooling system in July 2021 here in New Mexico as Choice dragged their feet. I went out to find my own contractor for this job and all three would not work with Choice due to their reimbursement option and claims simply being denied. The contractor that was finally assigned came to my home, looked at the work, submitted the claim and Choice denied coverage. Also it is very important to note that in this case Choice did not vet this contractor. The contractor came to my home high and had problems diagnosing the repair. Choice did cover some minor electrical issues and agreed to replace my washer. With my washer they cut me a check that was about 60% of the actual cost of replacement, not "like kind and quality" coverage valuation here. In all, after two years, not at all worth it. Because Choice really does not cover well and the time it took with each repair because Choice took so long to assign a contractor of their "choice", I got to the point that I did not want to bother with them and ended up paying for some repairs needed on my own. I grew tired of their claim submission process and wait time only to have the claim denied. Though Choice is rated #1, there really are better warranty companies out there. They may be more expensive, keep in mind that "you get what pay for". I have since found another warranty provider with coverage that is far broader, cleaner claim submission process and with salesmen that know their warranty inside out. Choice has called me no less than 50 times to renew. The last salesman told me I was stupid for not renewing. I will not work with anyone that does this out of what seems sheer desperation. In the end I believe Choice really means that you should choose a better warranty provider. Beware please.

We are a plumbing, Electrical and HVAC company in Charlotte, NC. We were called by Choice in August of 2020. They told us they had 205 stagnate work orders that had not been addressed. They asked us our labor rate, we filled out a contract for this amount and in 2 weeks had made repairs to 120 of these work orders. During this time we did gets called from what they call "adjusters" saying our rate was higher than they pay. I asked them to look at our contract. After looking at contract they sent us over approvals for repairs. We did get payments for about 1/4 of these work orders. Over the next 2 weeks we were able to repair almost all their "stagnate" work orders. Once this was done we got a call from our account representative stating that if we didn't lower our rate they would CANCEL the contract with us, hold all our payments for 180 days plus 6 weeks after that for the check to be mailed. In attempts to keep this account we lowered our rate as low as we could. They still canceled our contract and have not issued any further payments. They owe us $26, 000.00 dollars. I am looking at other law suits that have been filed against them. This is a terrible company!

They called me out of the blue been doing work for maybe 30 plus days. My first check was for 215 which they cut.

The errors were pointed out and they indicated I was correct.

I'm seeing a rat in the wood pile. I see today an invoice was cut from$995 to $708.50 with no explanation. Glad I looked up contractor reviews of this outfit.

They owe me close to $6/k I hope liens will not need to be placed on the homeowners.

I have no signed contract.

I would be happy to sign onto a class action lawsuit.

I have a drywall company, and was kind of smart. Can't say exactly what it was that made me suspicious, but I only did a few jobs for them (went out on 4 jobs, but only approved to do 2 of them). I did the work and waited a month to get paid. They shorted me about $300. I figured that if that's how they are going to start out treating me, then it would likely only get worse.

If you are looking to do a class action against them, I'd love to get whatever I can just on the principle of the thing. If I treated my employees, customers, or other subs like they treat people, our name would be mud in this town. They should have to play by the same rules as we do. I'm telling everyone that I know in Knoxville, TN not to do business with these people. Sad thing is, they'll probably just declare bankruptcy and then start up under a new name a few years later.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help, either with a law suit, negative PR, or whatever.

They have decided they will take money from checks they owe me saying another company said we installed improperly. Called the customer to find out this was not true. CHW did not pay anyone to come out or reimburse the customer for anything. Did not contact us to go back to look at what was being accused. Just take whatever amount they want out of your check and provide no proof. THEY ARE SHADY AND CROOKS!

VENDORS/CONTRACTORS - BEWARE OF CHOICE HOME WARRANTY! We are a 20 yr Plumbing business who did multiple work orders for Choice Home Warranty in the Tulsa Oklahoma area. We were never paid. I went around and around with them. They would swear they never received our insurance certificates, etc so I would send them again. CHW would come up with every excuse they could why they wouldn’t pay us. AFTER 6 MONTHS OF CALLING AND SENDING WHAT THEY ASKED FOR, THEN CALLING AGAIN, WE GAVE UP. This is how they make their money. The woman I talked with each time was very RUDE and SHORT with me. LONG STORY SHORT, WE CUT OUR LOSSES. I now see that they are no longer available in Oklahoma. Probably because they ran out of companies to ask to work for them after cheating them all!

I am a customer and on my third claim of which the first claim they replied saying that the item broke supposedly before the warranty kicked. The second they probably didn't have to pay anything because it was just a simple fix. The current one will cost close to $2000 and guess what they supposedly keep finding things that are not covered to do with my plumbing and septic system. Two people swore to me that they were taking care of it and the second one even claimed to have sent the contractor the go ahead so he could get the work done only to find the next day that they had sent nothing to him. When I spoke to a manager the next day he claimed that as soon as the contractor re-examined the diagnosis paperwork they would be quick to get right on the approval of the work needed to be done. I am not holding my breathe.

We are a young and growing HVAC and Plumbing company that got on board with Choice back in October. We have (like everyone on here I'm sure) not been paid yet for our services performed and not only that we were told that we were dropped from the vendors list because they didn't like how we responded to them in regard to their non payment of services by us. We were never notified that we were dropped as vendors, I had to call vendor relations to find this out and was told since we were dropped we wouldn't be getting paid for 365 days. Just because they didn't like our reaction to us getting ripped off by them is I guess a reason not to pay someone for work we've done in their eyes. This is the definition fraud and like everyone I want to do everything in my power to not only get compensated for our work we've done but to bring this sorry excuse of a company down.
