Chemistry.com AdultFriendFinder

I had heard that this app is legit and better than most apps on YouTube. I had my doubts but I wanted to give it a try. I tried to apply for a monthly subscription and ended up getting charged for a yearly subscription, which is 179.40. I called for customer support from the phone number on the website and the lady told me it was processing but I never heard anything back. I just wanted to get the monthly subscription instead of the yearly, but now I want my money back completely.

Date Of Transaction: 8/26/2023 1142

Desired outcome: I want my money back or at the very minimum, for them to remove the yearly subscription and replace it with the monthly subscription.

Chemistry.com Fraudulent advertising

Chemistry.com is an on-line dating service, and part of "Matchmediagroup". I have no association with this company and it is sending me unsolicited and fraudulent advertisements to entice me to pay money to become a member.

The "Matchmediagroup" website states:
"Match Media Group is the fast-growing organization responsible for ad monetization of all publishers under the Match Group, including category-leading brands such as Match.com, OkCupid and Tinder. "

Chemistry.com website links to "Matchmediagroup", and "Matchmediagroup" links to "Match.com". The fraudulent e-mails contain the following contact details at the end:

"As a part of your Chemistry.com membership, we let you know when other members have expressed interest in you. You may change your email preferences or unsubscribe from certain types of messages by adjusting email options. Adjustments may take 3-7 business days. Replies to this mailbox are not monitored, but please contact Customer Service if needed. Chemistry.com P.O. Box 25314 Dallas, TX 75225 USA"

In fact, however none of the links in the preceding message lead to the option of "unsubscribing"; instead they attempt to recruit the internet user. For example, one of those links is:
http://www.chemistry.com/help/contactform?emailqueueid=TKXH1JjDnX5bXMboXxqPSQ==&trackingId=2000955&

Chemistry.com This whole site is a fake!

I want to warn people about Chemistry.com. I was chatting with three cute looking girls and later I realized they all were scammers. I started suspecting something when a girl named Lolla sent me her “latest” photos. The person on the photos reminded me of someone. Then I used google search and found out that all those pictures belonged to a famous model. Every time we were talking, they told how much they love expensive cars, jewellery and etc. Once, Lolla even asked me to send her some money! Later, the other two girls asked me the same thing. This whole site is a fake! All they need is your money and you will never find true love there! I complained to chemistry. At first they ignored me, but when I told that I am aware about the scam they are running, they deleted my profile!

Chemistry.com Credit Card Fraud

I discovered over the weekend that the company has been billing my credit card $39.99 since 12/1/13. When I called today they confirmed that NONE of the information associated with the credit card is accurate. Wrong name, wrong e-mail, wrong city, wrong state, wrong zip code. I have no idea how my bank authorized the transactions. Nevertheless, despite confirming that the transactions were fraudulent, they refused to refund me the money for 21 consecutive fraudulent transactions. ;

Their business model appears to be based on recurring fraudulent credit card transactions

Chemistry.com false matches

This is an online dating site which purports to match you according to a personality test and your own criteria. In 9 months I was contacted by one living person who met none of my criteria. All the other matches and contacts have been by "members" whose profiles have been removed immediately after contacting me. Customer service claims this results from their security policies but is unable or unwilling to address the fact that it occurs every time and within no longer than 2 hours of the contact, and always precedes the email notice to me about the contact. Since I purchased a membership the number of these contacts has increased to daily, every one of them a removed profile. I know it is hard to meet people in the busy world in which we live, but be very careful about wasting yur money, especially because you cannot even view the profiles of people who contact you when you are not a paying member.

Chemistry.com Matching Scama

Beware of this dating site. I have paid for a 3 month membership. They supposedly send you compatible matches to contact. Well, I live in the Metropoiltan NYC area and since I've joined I've been matches from Delaware, Pennsylvania, and even the Mid-West. Spoke to customer service about this issue, still getting matches from different states. Chemistry prides itself on finding matches that they feel are compatible based on your "personality test" that you fill out when you join and people from your area (or reasonably close to your area) Customer service does not care-this company simply wants your money. Don't be a fool-save your hard-earned money and try to find an alternative to meeting new people.

Chemistry.com Reading mail and taking content

This is an invasion of privacy. They block you from speaking by email to potential suitors... they blank out the email addresses. Also I thing they are doing research by following the dating site habits of people and have not provided a good means of meeting someone compatable as they show you these weirdos and you have to accept, deny or maybe to even be able to get to one you might want to be interested in. I think this is a big research scam that Helen Fisher who writes books is using to do research for her next book. Unfair to pay and have promises not met by the site.

Chemistry.com Scams

Joined this dating site 6 months ago and was almost immediately matched with someone that was from New Rochelle, NY. Through many e-mails this individual built up my trust and eventually scammed me out of $7K. I never met him in person, as he was traveling "abroad" and needed this money for supposed business transactions. I complained to Chemistry and all they could do is to extend my membership. Since then I get around 5 matches from Chemistry.com nearly every day. And guess what, never met anyone in person or had any further contact other than for the other person to show "interest" in me. But I have had my share of more individuals that are scammers and now I know what to look for and report it to them, only to find that the member in questions profile has been closed "due to illict activity".
I would love to know if anyone else was scammed money from introductions on this site. Maybe we could form a class action suit to try to get some of our lost money back and to shut down Chemistry.com.

I had an extremely similar thing just happen to me. I got a message from someone and then we started talking on yahoo chat for about a week and a half. She "apparantly" does a lot of work over in third world countries and gets 2 week vacation period to come back to the US. She said when she came back this time, she was looking to date around more and I was interested in talking and maybe meeting her. The day she was supposed to leave and come back to the US, she couldnt get her check cashed because of their financial crisis or something and she is asking for 450 dollars to loan and she will pay me back when we meet. This was so sketchy and there was no way i could do it, but it was really elaborately planned out, so I did a search and found your similar post. Im happy i didnt do anything and its tough to hear you lost 7K! you need to take some lawsuit against chemistry and try to get some of your money back

My prior experience with these sites makes me think that there are tons of scammers on all of them. For the most part, the scammers do not reside in the US. They look at a map, pick a town and just pretend they live there. My guess is that they're mostly from Africa, Asia or maybe Eastern Europe. After they make a woman think they're in love with her (they move quickly), and win her trust, they try to empty her bank account with a story of sudden misfortune or desperation. It's the internet version of the old Nigerian scams. By now, we should all be smart enough to recognize these scams, but "love" make us vulnerable. While I have encountered many of these faux profiles (the scammers seek out women of a certain age, whom they think have money), I'm way too suspicious and skeptical to fall for their ploys. Indeed, they annoy me to no end.

Chemistry.com Scammers

I went on this site and within two weeks I had three men I was matched with who ultimately turned out to be scammers. I was matched with these people and they contacted me as an interest. They had pictures that looked real with regular names as well as profiles that seem real. You can tell these are scammers because they request immediately for you to contact them via yahoo.com chats. I caught on after the first one because they cannot speak proper English and from one session to the next they can't keep their stories straight. BEWARE!

I too had a similar experience. I was matched up with a beautiful lady. Profile was so spot on I could have written it myself. She expressed interest and sent a msg via the site. I responded and her next email was asking for me to send it to her personal yahoo.acct. Only problem is we were matched up twice.. Once she was 35 and lived in Florida and the other profile ( initial profile pic was different, but as I looked more I saw the same pic on the 35 yr olds Florida profile) she was 40 and lived in Louisiana. I also looked on good old fb and saw the same pics but this time she was from Massachusetts. Total BS. After I started asking questions about the two different profiles, I never heard back from her again. I think this is horrible. Some people are actually on this site with good intentions and its wrong to play with peoples emotions this way for a buck$$$. Shame on you! chemistry.com

I thought that chemistry.com was an honest singles club-but no way; they are a BIG SCAM! I am on limitted income and before I figured out that it is a Scam; I got online telling them that I don't want to be a member anymore of chemistry.com on June 16th 2011. I definitely cancelled it. It is June 22nd 2011 and still a member. If they don't cancel me, I am going higher up .

Chemistry.com Nigerian Scammers

I wanted to alert you to the fact that there are scammers on this site. This person used the name of a real person, a picture and address. He was selected as one of my matches. After only two weeks of communication this person asked for money. Said he is working in guess where...Nigeria and was attacked by robbers. He asked me to wire 900 dollars. Of course I did not.

I wrote to Chemistry reporting this person and they keep emailing me a canned response back. People beware.

Seems most of these dating sites are fraud, my friend join up with AMOLATINA.COM a company that claims to have the most trusted dating site on the web, he made a one time payment of less than $15, 00 for a few minutes to send just a few letters next thing you know they went back multiple times, and withdraw thousands of dollars off his card, that wasn't enough they went and order over $2000, 00. us dollars of good from e bay and other various places, thieves, pure thieves, be careful of these scammers putting up dating website, most of them are lazy-### thieves without an ounce of conscience.

You are going to run into bad people everywhere you go. It doesn't matter what dating sight you go on. These people are looking for easy targets and peole looking for love can be just the type that can fall for a smooth talker with a pretty/handsome photo.
There are also guys out there who seem to start out legit but really only want to lure you into phone or web sex. I suspect many of these guys are married and have fake profiles up.
But then there are the people who are honest, real and are looking for love.
Just be smart, wade thru the BS, (know it when you see it) report/block the bad ones and keep looking. There is really no need to quit the sight because a a few bad apples.
Like I said in a prior post, I am currently in a relationship with the man I met on Chemistry (2+ years). I am also still in friendly convos with a few guys that turned out to be just friends and we keep in touch.
Don't give out your real emails/phone # until you are comfortable and have had a date or two.
If possible, Web cam before the 1st date. ( I call it the elimination round)
I also kept convos going with several guys, so as not to get attached with one. I kept my distance until I met Mr. right, then I eventually let my guard down.
ALWAYS plan the first few dates in a VERY public area. Lunch in a little resaurant, coffee at Starbucks, meet in a bookstore, walk your dogs at a busy dog park. Something that you can leave easily if it is not the best date.

I just wasted a month corresponding with a man who also was in "Africa" on business. One month to the day that he contacted me through Chemistry.com, he was "robbed" and needed me to wire him$1800 so he could "get home". Of course I did not send it, but began researching and found this complaints board. BEWARE... I resigned from the site. Sad world we live in...

I was on Chemistry & Match. I had a variety of dates from both sites, some of them quality and some of them made good stories. My girl friend joined match as well. She became the target of the African scammers looking for money. I got a few "hits' from guys who I could not figure out why they were flirting w/ me. (too young)
red flags. I think the loonies are just out there and its not an inside job.
But I do have to say that I met Mr. Right on Chemistry. As I posted on another thread, he is sleeping next to me as I write this and we have been together for more than 2 years. The wedding is this fall. So it can work for you.
Joining Chem Changed my life and I am so glad we found each other.

Consider yourself lucky. Mine went on for 2 months and guess what, he got robbed and SHOT and wanted $2300 for surgery on his hand (in Africa). The funny thing was, be was able to email me with his bad hand.
This website is a BIG joke. Since that scam it has happened several times. They all want to IM you on Yahoo and when you want to meet they say they are out of the country on business.
I truly believe it is an inside job. It has to be because it happened to me twice last week. It has become a form of entertainment for me and my coworkers now but yes, finally quit.
Stay away.

Chemistry.com worthless site

I would like to add my voice to the numberous complaints already out there>
I have been on the site on 3 months there are no new " matches" despite rather open criteria
There is never anyone " interested in you"
Multiple E-mails recieved for Match, com wanting you to go into yet another site wanting more mOney for you to "join"
The Matches are way ove 20 miles away and in NJ I find it difficult to believe that the most populus state in the union cannot find " matching criteria " to send you
DO NOT WAST THE MONEY WORTHLESS

Chemistry.com won't refund my money. I cancelled after 1 day!!!!

I was on Match.com and I got involuntarily lead to a site called chemistry .com. A little bit into the site I 'm tempted into taking a stupid chemistry test and told I would get better matching results with their Chemistry Test. After paying $53.25 I realize there.s barely any members. It was like a ghostown! The next day I informed them in writing to cancel my membership immediately . I told them to my refund back in Paypal. Well, I just received an email from them stating no refund I am HOT! I just googled them to look for their phone #, someone just posted the same complaint 2 minutes before me. Except I found their number.

Phone #[protected] They won't hear the end of it until I get my refund. Don't Join There!

Here is their response:

Dear Shannon,

This email confirms you've resigned your Chemistry subscription. We've flagged your account as "Do Not Renew" to prevent future billing.

Your confirmation number is Shannwoman200932821281613. (Note: Chemistry does not offer partial/full refunds or credit for unused time.)

Chemistry.com Matches

Well first off I would like to advise all customers of Chemistry.com and Match.com to read the terms of use. In the terms of use it does state that all sales are final and that your account will be renewed if it is not resigned(part 13E). Also the auto renewal statement is at the bottom of the subscription page and the price you are paying is at the top right.

That being said i do agree with the complaints of lack of matches. I understand that if you are spending a lot of money for a service you should get what you pay for. I currently have 46 Active matches but no one is responding. The lack of responses is due in part, I believe, to most of the people do not have active subscriptions and do not realize that they are signed up with a profile. When you do call to complain the always suggest sending the issue to the tech dept. Guess what, the tech dept never ever contacts you. I don't believe that it is a tech issue. If anyone has an issue it is chemistry for sending matches that are not paid subscribers. They also send out fake emails offering fake prices or fake matches.

Big piece of advice, if you are looking for a refund threaten charge back or the BBB.

Save your money everyone. Lets go back to dating the old fashioned way.

Chemistry.com bill without notice, won't refund

I signed up about a year ago through match.com. They made it look like an add on to match.com, and even gave me the same username. When I dropped match.com, I supposed I was dropped from chemistry.com. Many months later, I saw a $100 bill on my bank statement. I contacted chemistry.com saying I hadn't given them permission to charge me for their service. I sure hadn't used it in several months. I guess they managed to screw me, even though I contacted them within ten days of their charge. Screwing me was probably their intent because, unlike reputable firms, they did not give any notice were going to charge me: you can be sure they were not unaware that I hadn't touched their service in months and clearly had no use for it.

My email exchange with them follows:

TITLE=Resigning / Cancelling Membership
DESCRIPTION=I thought I canceled my account several months ago through match.com. You certainly did not have my permission to charge me another $99.96 for your service. But you did, and you gave me no notice of this. I had to find out about it from my bank statement.

When I went into your site to try to kill my account with chemistry.com, just like I did with match.com, your site did not respond after I chose to resign and remove my profile and after I entered my password for a second time. I tried again, and again, and it did not work. Funny, eveything else but my request to stop taking my money still seems to work just fine.

Please consider this a written demand to cancel my account immediately and completely and refund the $99.96 you billed me without my permission.

Yours Sincerely,

Lawrence Sinclair

I definitely agree with that it's an individual's responsibility to read the fine print and adhere to terms of contract. With that said, doing any kind of business with the public, especially in a customer service capacity, should allow for some flexibility and attentiveness to customer concerns. It's apparent to me now that Chemistry.com has exhibited a lengthy history of not caring what its customer base thinks. I've resigned myself to eating the cost of the new six month period that Chemistry has so thoughtfully enacted for me. I'm not certain yet how to effect change to prevent companies like Chemistry.com from including predatory autorenewal procedures in their terms. Perhaps enough momentum will gather, whether at the FTC or local BBBs, to force a change.

Thanks for the balanced views and the nod toward the appropriate governing bodies.

OK, here's the deal. I used to run a customer service department and used to make decisions on who's refunded and so on. Most of the time, you are responsible. If you agreed to a set of terms and conditions, and provided your billing information, 3 digit security code, and/or use VerifiedByVISA (or a similar program), you are obligated to pay the money. The site is holding up its end of the bargain, and you are expected to do the same. It doesn't matter if it's "10 days after the bill date". That is a condition that you made up; it wasn't in the contract (i hated when customers would make up their own terms).

That being said, any chargeback and/or complaint filed with the BBB is a waste of your time as if it is not a reasonable excuse (the site no longer works for example). Try and be responsible when agreeing to subscriptions and memberships. When you cancel your account, do so via email, so you have a copy of what you were promised and told. A phone call means nothing unless you also receive simultainous notification via email. Trust me. This is why court cases aren't decided over the phone, there needs to be some record of the transaction.

If you have a legitimate argument, then take the following steps. 1) email customer service. if no response, then try 2) phoning the company. Escalate the matter to the director of customer service, but don't demand to speak to the CEO or anything stupid. It just is insulting to the customer service person, and the CEO probably doesn't have time to speak with you anyway for your $49.95. If this doesn't resolve your situation, inform the customer representative that you plan on contacting the FTC, BBB, Attorney General's Office, your credit card company (if a company incurs a chargeback percentage of 3-4% of total business, the credit card company usually stops working with them. In this case, if the company is hovering around there, it might get them to refund you) and maybe even a local lawyer who specializes in class action lawsuits.

Completely agree with Jane Doe! It is stated in the terms of use, which is something that can be found on nearly almost every site on the internet. If you choose not to read the terms of use, and receive an "unauthorized charge" later on that is your responsibility. The most efficient way to cancel your subscription is to cancel on the website yourself or call the company so they can cancel it for you so you won't incur any future charges. Companies like Match and Chemistry receive thousands of emails everyday, so they won't necessarily get back to you the same day you send the email. Also, I think that it is pretty clear that Chemistry is not an add-on for Match as it takes you to a whole different website where you have to sign up for another subscription. As you must know now you do not cancel your subscription through Match.com and you are provided with notice of possible recurring charges in the terms of use and under your subscription status

Word of advise please read the terms of use on site as well as any site that you are giving your credit card to. It does state that there is auto renewal if account is not cancelled. it is also stated on the billing page when you subscribe. Other than that I do agree that the site does not deliver what is promised. Matches don't fit criteria, you don't get matches or they never respond back. When matches don't respond they always say that they are going to send it to the tech team. Whatever. They never fix it or respond. Another word of advise, if looking for a refund, threatened chargeback or BBB.

Chemistry.com fraud , misrepresentation

Some months ago I agreed to only a trial use for a month on chemistry.com. They charged my credit card $159. I tried calling them and emailing them many times with very little success. Finally I was credited $100. I have just noticed today on 7/24/08 they have charged my card again $159, when obviously I had declined their misrepresented bad service months ago when they tried over charging me.

Thanx for the warning about the automatic subscription renewal. I called them and apparently they have an opt out policy. If you don't call them and tell them not to renew your subscription they will assume you want them to. They said they aren't going to renew my subscription now that I specificly asked them not to. I hope they keep their word on that.

I subscribed to chemistry a month ago and clicked yes to about 100 matches. So far I haven't gotten a single response not one of them has accepted or declined. Its probably because of this

"I have not paid for all the things you can do on this site, so if I don't get back to you, it's not that I don't like you...I just can't see your profile! :)"

It seems that most if not all of my matches have been people who haven't subscribed or recently canceled their subscriptions. If this wasn't the case then someone would have clicked not interested. These people cannot communicate with me in any way. The best explanation I can think of is that I am being used as an advertising tool. When someone lets their subscription expire they send me their profile so that they will think about renewing it. Honestly they should be paying me for this not charging me $50 a month.

The same thing is happening to me. I signed up for this website six months ago, for a six month only membership. The day my membership was to end, I noticed they'd charged $159 to my account. I deactivated my account and wrote them an e-mail asking them to remove the charge since I has not asked for 6 more months, nor had they notified me that they would be automatically charging my card. They wrote back that they don't offer any refunds - sorry for the inconvenience. I wrote them two emails back demanding that they refund me. I'm going to call them on Monday and if they continue to refuse, I'm going to report the charge as fraudulent to my bank account. I'm completely livid.

Chemistry.com No refund

I joined chemistry.com, signing up for their 3 month service for $99.97. Within 72 hours I changed my mind and notified chemistry.com that I did not wish to continue. Although chemistry.com rendered no services, they refused to refund any money. At best, I flipped through an automated 10 profiles. I only hope my credit card company will join my fight to recover my losses to this fraudulent, greedy site. I would not recommend anyone using this service to find a mate.

I agree. I cancelled after a month of receiving profiles with no responses. I cancelled on 11/27 and my account was debited on 11/30. When I called to question this and ask for a refund or credit back into my account I was told that I had to cancel on 11/26 in order to not be charged. The operator then wanted to help me with my profile and give me a deal so that I would stay. I told her I wasn't interested and then she tried to sell me "another deal". After talking with her I checked my chemistry.com account (since I was debited for another month) and I couldn't log in. Thank goodness I learned my lesson early. Now we know how they make their money!

Eventually, to their credit, they did write to me saying they were issuing a refund. This may have followed my response to their survey.

I also joined Chemistry.com, and within 3 days wrote to cancel my membeship, and requesting a refund. I got a letter from a customer service rep called Denise S explaining they did not refund money. I wrote back stating that I would do what I could to stop the payment, and would do all I could to inform others of their unethical practice. I filled out a customer service survey and asked to reach some upper management.

Chemistry.com - Website is a scam!

DO NOT use this company! Their ads promise your 'first five matches are free', but after you fill out a twenty minute compatibility test and your personal information sheet, they claim to have found five matches for you BUT YOU CAN'T ACCESS OR CONTACT THEM WITHOUT SIGNING UP FOR THEIR SERVICE. You can't even verify if these are real people or whether...
