Website is a scam!

DO NOT use this company! Their ads promise your 'first five matches are free', but after you fill out a twenty minute compatibility test and your personal information sheet, they claim to have found five matches for you BUT YOU CAN'T ACCESS OR CONTACT THEM WITHOUT SIGNING UP FOR THEIR SERVICE. You can't even verify if these are real people or whether they're just shills to get you to sign up. This website is a SCAM... if you jump through their hoops, you will just be WASTING YOUR TIME!

I agree with pretty much everyone here, especially what Charles said about matching people more on radius than compatibility. I have been a member since September and have only communicated with one person, who turned out to be a total dud. They claimed we were a good match, but I honestly think its because we lived closer together than other matches. Also, I am African American and am open to dating other races. However, that is not the case with everyone which is understandable. However, they sent me match after match who asked for every race other than black. Needless to say they were about as interested as I was. Chemistry is a crappy site and If it wouldn't be so difficult to prove I would sue them for false advertisement. On the other hand, I am also a member of Eharmony and have been placed with much better, compatible matches. Its a numbers game at the end of the day, but at least with Eharmony you know your matches are really based upon compatibility.

I only had a month left with Chemistry and I swear they were sending me duds on purpose because my membership was about to expire. Never again.

Have to tell everyone that I met my wife on Chemistry.com . . . .they aren't a total scam, but may be poorly run.

This company is an absolute scammer. First they advertise free matches for 3 days. You can't access matches. Secondly, they give you matches totally outside of geographical area distance you selected or very few matches at all. I have made numerous calls to this company to resolve this issue and the persons answering the phone do absolutely nothing. The results are the same as though you never complained.
They are crooked.

I totally agree with Joe Chemistry! I joined and after a wasted six month "subscription period" my checking account was debited for another $159. When I contacted them and told them I'd never received a notice of renewal and didn't want to continue as a member, I was told that it automatically renewed without notice and since more than three days had gone by (8 days had elapsed), I can't get a refund. The first six month "subscription period" was nothing but matches that had absolutely nothing in common with my interests or anything close to what matched what I was looking for in a match. You never get any responses to the matches - most likely because they are bogus.

I found a a girlfriend on my own - Chemistry is just a money making business for someone - not really anything to help people connect - DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!!

Chemistry.com is a fraud.

While subscribed, no one initiated interest -- once I resigned and was unavailable, I'm getting one or 2 "Interested in You" emails and "nudges" a week. In other words, they intentionally match you with people who aren't available.

I completely agree that Chemistry.com is a scam. I joined in 2006 and resigned twice and recently rejoined in a final attempt. Yes you will get auto renewed if you do not cancel, there is no notice or email. I also recently joined eHarmony and they send you an email prior to getting renewed.

I purposely never closed out any matches that I actually tried to communicate with. I have over 3 pages (47 matches) of OPEN (STAGE 1) matches that never responded. Some go back over 700 days !!. WHAT A JOKE. Members that are fake or can't reply!

I do get about 3 matches a day, but my "INTERESTED IN YOU" sometimes shows no activity for weeks. That feature simply means that someone else only clicked on your profile. What a scam. If I am getting over 20 matches a week should anyone at least be looking at my profile. What a scam.

I have been on 2 dates from chemistry is 3 years. There is no doubt that the majority of matches are shills, fake profiles and non paying members which cannot communicate with me.

The few matches that I actually made it OPEN COMMUNICATION never responded after I gave them my contact number. They just never responded.

Chemistry is Match.com's attempt at duplicating eHarmony successful dating site. I say this because I recently joined eHarmony and although the 2 sites share a common approach, eHarmony takes it to an honest level.

I have resigned from Chemistry.com and now a member of eHarmony.

my chemistry experience was really annoying as well. i only got matches for the 1st 2 days, after two emails i spoke to a representative, who told me to modify my criterias to a little more lenient. so i did, n i still didnt get any matches. i find it hard to believe that living in NYC, i would not get any matches for 3 weeks. so i called them up again, n u know what the new rep said, well maybe u need to be more lenient. i told her, this was what the last customer service rep did for me, i followed her plan, why am i not getting matches still. then she says, well maybe you need to loosen up with education match, i have it set at HS level or higher, how much lower can i go, does that mean im gonna get pple who didnt even graduate if i lower it to any? and sure enuff, after she changed that, i got 5 matches. i was like, r u serious, b/c u changed that i have matches, ur telling me that i live in NYC and there isnt anyone with a HS diploma or higher. i told her to cancel my membership b/c i heard that you automatically get rebilled when you contract is up. chemistry is a joke.

VERY disappointed in Chemistry.com ...They auto renewed my account for $99 for 3 months...after I HAD NOT UPDATED my credit card expiration date. Anyhow, there should be a law AGAINST auto renew, it is a complete scam for businesses, and is UNETHICAL, unless I am made completely aware of it.

I signed up for the six month subscription and it definitely appears that there are a lot of inactive/fake matches out there. Some I knew were legitimately real people with non-paying profiles, because I recognized them from somewhere else (i.e. met somewhere, went to school with them). But many are obviously fake, such as someone who makes over $200K and lives at home, a PH.D who can't spell simple words correctly, or a loyal member of the LDS church who drinks and smokes everyday. I got a disproportionate amount of matches from a town I was unfamiliar with, and upon looking up that town, I find it had a population of about 2000 people. Out of the 500+ matches I viewed, I might have actually met or talked to on the phone only 5 or 6. You're better off taking that $150 and putting it on a number at the roulette table, at least the odds are better.

The chemistry .com is not only a scam, but they matched me with someone that was trying to get money from me, I reported a concern. They just told me to avoid him. They just did not care. The man still member of the website scamming other people. It's not a safe place.

For six months I was a member of Chemistry.com. I am very attractive, intelligent, educated, successful, etc.; in other words, I am a great match. However, in six months, I was only give three matches within my preferred geographic distance of 50 miles from my city. Those three matches did not meet my matching preference criteria, but I wrote to them, anyway. None of them wrote back. After a few months of matches, none of whom ever matched my matching preference criteria or my geographic distance, I decided to write to everyone that I was matched with, just to see what happened. I believe that the matches are really members who are either 1) inactive, or 2) fictional/made up members. Many do not have photos. When I wrote to everyone, over 80 names/people...only two people wrote back to me, briefly. The first one, I believe is a fictional/made up member because even though twice I wrote that it was my birthday, the person never wrote back to say "happy birthday" to me...as if what I wrote was not being read, responses seemed to be prewritten/generated and just sent to me to pretend that someone really was writing to me, when in fact, a real mate was not writing to me. The second person sent questions, then abruptly disappeared also. I believe the matches are fake and that this is a scam - do not join Chemistry.com because until you figure out that this is a scam which really does not match people, you will go into this with your whole heart, hoping to meet some great people, when in fact, the profiles are made up/fake/or inactive and there really is no one to match you to. Go out, enjoy life, and hope to meet someone that way. Good luck to you, but please, don't waste your time and money with Chemistry.com.

I agree they are scams. I received 8 emails telling me of 8 people who were interested in meeting me, but I had to sign up to see their portfolio or picture. So I signed up only to find out that non of them 8 people were interested nor had they made any contact with me. As soon as I signed up I realized the scam and canceled the membership within an hour.

The website claimed that I had 3 days to get my money back, but when I asked for the money back they wouldn't honor it. They also will not respond to any of my emails requesting an explanation as to why they wont honor their promise.

I'm not sure how this site is helping prevent others from falling into the same trap. Has anyone signed a complaint against the better business bureau? We need to stop Chemistry.com. Match.com is affiliated with Chemistry.com and maybe they should both go out of business for cheating people. This just isn't right.

I have read most of the posted comments and I have to totally agree with everyone. Chemistry.com, is not a reputable company to use when looking for a person of interest. My questions to Chemistry where exactly what has been posted...they responded with not answering one question and cancelling my subscription. If anyone knows how to legally challenge this fraudulent company, I am more than interested in participating.

Chemistry is a scam. They will set you up with "auto-renewal" and make it very difficult to cancel. Once you cancel, they leave your profile in their database to build up their matching capability. Unsuspecting members never know if matches are truly available for contact or not. Shady business practices. Avoid Chemistry.com!

I was given a complete run-around by Chemistry. Things were going well for me when a Woman named Laura expressed interest in me . I replied, finding her attractive and with similar interests. We corresponded to level 2 smoothly, when the "Short Answers" link I was instructed to click on for sending my answers to Laura ended up being a "Dead Link". LISTED BELOW IS THE ACTUAL LINK CHEMISTRY SENT ME:

<http://=http//www.chemistry.com/myhome/activematches.aspx?emailqueueid=671/uTdi4Iu2LdeRA5sS8w==&>

Anyone with marginal computer skills can see that this link is no good and contains major typo errors. Needless to say, my correspondence with Laura never progressed beyond this stage. If Laura was sent the same link, she could not possibly respond to me.

I asked CHEMISTRY the reason for the bad link and offered suggestions for getting Laura and I back on track, but CHEMISTRY had no response and were not going to offer any refund. After some threatening e-mails, CHEMISTRY budged and refunded my payment, so they claim.

AVOID CHEMISTRY at ALL COSTS, they lack in IT skills, customer service and outright refuse to tae any responsibility for their fuck ups. KISS MY ASS CHEMISTRY!!!
