WHY ARE CREDIT CARDS CHARGING FOR PHONE PAYMENTS WHEN USING AN AUTOMATED SYSTEM, THEY ARE TRYING TO CONTROL THE WAY BILLS ARE PD - THIS IS AN UNFAIR PRATICE.
I totally agee. I am having the same problem with Chase. Even if you pay on time by phone they charge you if you pay after 4pm EST. Of course they don't bother to notify you of this in advance. I am closing my account with them.
My Washington Mutual Card was switched to Chase and to find out my rewards I signed up online. Unfortunately, there was a prompt on how I wanted my payments and somehow I selected paperless. Big mistake. Chase never notified me by email that my bill was due. How did I find out? By accidentally checking my online statement! Bingo, now I'm hit with a $39 late fee for a $220 bill. I was two days late. When I called about this (five times) everyone was rude blamed it all on me. The last manager I spoke with said she had no intention to prove to me an email was sent, that I HAD TO GO ONLINE TO SET UP MY CHASE ACCOUNT SO THAT MY YAHOO EMAIL ACCOUNT WOULD NOT SPAM FILTER THEIR BILLS. Interesting that all emails from Chase arrived prior and after I set up my account online but MY BILL DID NOT ARRIVE TO ME. The best the supervisor did was to tell me to cancel my account if I did not like their company. It's time to treat Chase like they treated me. Thieves.
