Steep, unwarrented late fees

I recently received a bill for a bestbuy credit card, operated by Chase Bank. It had a late fee of $35.00 because it was received one day late. The due date was actually May 31st: A SUNDAY! My electronic transfer did not get paid until the 1st, because Sunday is not a business day. Chase refuses to lift this late charge, although this is the first month that my bill became before the first of the month, so this also caught me off guard. I know the banks are hurting these days, but skimming the pockets of hard working people like myself over stupid technicalities is just plain horrable! TAKE YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE!

Chase is the only credit card company I have dealt with that will NEVER waive late fees and also charges finance charges. They bury the late fee in the detail, not with the usual interest section. Furthermore Chase "customer service" reps do not care if you do business with Chase and will offer to cancel your card at the drop of a hat.
The "grace period" is defined as 20 days ending at the due date. So the supposed grace period is the time frame starting with when they send the bill until the due date. Again, this is the only credit card I have dealt with that is so dedicated to ripping off their own customers.

I paid my balance in full for 3 years. I received a late fee after I didn't receive a statement. The balance was less than $200. (I pay in full every month usually around $1000-4000). After $40k in full on time payments they would not help. What I did was GO INTO THE BRANCH. I had the branch rep help me and call into a supervisor in care. When they didn't help her and gave the line to me. I spoke VERY LOUDLY. Not rude or any foul language. Still no help. Later I spoke to the branch manager from home and let him know I would be coming into the branch daily to talk to care and apologized for my outburst. He called some special executive line... Late fee was credited. To my knowledge this is a first. Let everyone know to go to the branch. I never had these kind of problems before when my account was owned by WAMU. I loved WAMUs level of service.

I have the exact same problem!! I have never in 2 years had a late fee with them!! Every single one of my statement dates in 2009 ended on the 8th of the month, and the due date was always on the 2nd of the month. In October, my statement date ended on the 7th. I didn't pay much attention to my statement b/c I had my bank account set up to pay on the 2nd of the month. Well, because the end date moved to the 7th, the due date moved up to the 1st! The 1st was on a Sunday!!! How can a payment be due on a Sunday? Why wouldn't they remove the charge as a courtesy the first time? I have never heard of this.
