Chase has a banking practice in their checking accounts to take the largest amount and go to the smallest if more than 1 transaction is processed on a given day, creating multiple overdraft fees. The policy to help their customer should be to go from smallest to largest creating fewer fees.
This is supposed to happen first qtr next year and they can do a thing about it now, so we are screwed until then, time to find a new bank. Or better yet a credit union!

I used to bank at WAMU before it was swallowed by Chase. I have a savings and checking account. The two accounts are linked. I keep little in the checking, since I write few checks, and a substantial sum (approaching $100, 000) in savings. In the past, when I wrote a check, the overdraft amount was automatically transferred from savings to checking, plus $25, with NO FEES. I have had the accounts for eight years, and I have been satisfied. I opened my December statement, and discovered that Chase is now charging me $10 each time money is transferred between accounts. When I called customer service and finally managed to speak to a human, all she could say was "I'm sorry you're having problems. There is nothing I can do." I have had the same experience at my local Studio City branch. The manager REFUSED to even consider reversing a charge for a safe deposit box, even though I qualify for a FREE box. He was so incredibly rude, and did not even bother checking my balance or the length of time I had been a customer. If this is the way CHASE treats good customers, they won't have many for long. I am moving my money to a local bank or to my credit union.

I'm on a fixed income and had no problems with washington mutual since 2003. since chase took over i've had nothing but problems as far as overdraft fees as of this past week i'm up to $434.20 and thats checking my acct. at least 2 times a day. theres also charges i have no idea were they come from. and when i called to talk to some one twice i'v gotten the same person, this guy is very rude (more then the rest) he tells me "if i don't like it go somewere else and do my banking" now that lets you know whats up with this so called bank. They sure gave washington Mutual a bad name.chase bank is a ripp off ! How can they sleep at night knowing what there doing to people.

An open letter to Chase Banks and Chase Banking worldwide. I don’t care much about the inconvenience. Nor do I really care about the overdraft fee very much. What I do care about is being lied to repeatedly and the holding of funds for no reason. I have been through quite a bit with this bank, and am tired of them holding funds, rejecting transfers, and charging me wild random fees left and right. I have almost had enough, and will probably switch banks soon. The overdraft fees really bother me, but at least if chase would work with me I wouldn’t care half as much! It’s the fact that they are incredibly rude and customer service could care less about us, the consumer!

Chase sent me an email regarding ovefrdraft and pending charges. Telling me as long as I get the money into the account before the charges finalize I am okay. Well they lie, today i had plenty of case in my accoutn but because the vender predated the charge to two days ago, they charges me the overdraft charge plus one charge for every transaction I made after being overdrawn. Even though I had plenty of cash in account, they claimed at the time of the charge I didn't. I think they are a pack of liers and I want to join lawsuit. I already filed a claim with the BBB of my state, NY.

Solution closed both accounts saving and checking .They were not happy I was told the brand new card I just received the week before just all of a sudden went bad . That was not what I was told when the whole issue happened and was left unable access my funds that even the fraud department confirmed were available. If I had a friend tell me they could not access their funds that the back told them no you have to come in the bank and its 7pm at night and confirm its not fraud . I would of said that is nuts, but now I have walked in those shoes once NEVER AGAIN.

I had a hard time maintaining my balance, so I use a debit card only. Do not put the credit card on your account at all. It forces you to use cash with transactions, and not credit, which is to easy, and you can overspend often. Now, if I go shopping, I take cash out, and am forced to stay within those limits. I got tired of paying overdraft fees, now it is not so much a problem for me anymore. If your bank is rude, using every excuse to charge you overdraft fees, shop around a find a new bank. If they are getting my money, the least I expect is to deal with customer service reps that are not rude and obnoxious. I changed cell phone companies for that reason. I had one to many unhelpful rude customer service reps, so I went elsewhere with my business.

I will join also, they have committed numerous violations of the law upon me and my company. The single biggest and so far worst crime, they ran one item 11 times for deposit in my account from an ACH payment and charged me $275 to do it. In other words, because my account was frozen and in the middle of opening another account due to a security breach, They couldn't deposit a customer payment of mine into an account, 11 times they tried, and then charged me. After freezing my stuff up for 35 days. I'm just a dumb dog groomer, in my first year of business trying to keep my head above water and make an honest living. They been ripping me off anytime a get a dollar in my account. It's like a race between me and them, who can spend it first after it's deposited. But I will learn anything I have to, and I'm going to file a report with the office of currency to the state of texas and see if they think Chase charged me fairly. Keep ya'll posted, keep me in mind if you need any help presenting a case. Let's make this happen. Joelle

Hi, I'll join, and help head the thing if need be. I'm Joelle Koehler, a business owner in Texas, and Chase Bank takes all my money anytime I get a little. It's like a rush for me to pay what I can before they take it for something or another. In March 2010, I had a security breach from my merchant account, so Chase suggested trying them and opening another account was the only way to get the first merchant account rep off my money. Then Chase paymentech froze my credit card salews for 35 days and ran one item 11 times for a fee of $275 in that time. So that 35 days of accepting credit cards cost me almost $600. And it was only $1, 400 in sales counting checks and cash and cards. They are all referring me to someone else, and they don't tell the truth. As a matter of fact the fees came under electronic transactions instead of the fee section on my statement. Total B.S./ I'm filing a report with the office of currency to the state of Texas to let them dcide it those fees were fair or not. Bet they're gonna love me now. They think I'm stupid, because I'm a dog groomer, but I'm a straight A student and will learn what ever it takes to win. Everytime. Joelle

I also have Chase. I recentley deposited a cashier's check from a so called employee for 2650.00. I found out later that is was a scam. I called Chase to let them know that it may be counterfeit and called the police. They froze my account immediatley. I asked them how could they freeze my account when the check has not been returned yet. I was told they has reason to believe it was a fake. I told them that is because I called you! The check has still not came back yet but my account is froze and I am being told I owe them 2650.00. I thought the whole reason you deposit a check and wait for the funds is to make sure it is a good check? Is it not their job to check that out before they make the funds available?

I will be happy to join in the class action suit. I am from California where the bank practices the same insane methods. Not only have they charged NSF fees on unaccountable transactions but closed my account without warning and submitted my name to the checks system. So now I am unable to open an account at any bank. Yes, Yes, count me in. I have all my documentation. Contact me: RickChavez@msn.com, please add my name to these proceedings.

Yeah, count me in. I don't have a lot in NSF fees, but what happened to me is I was robbed at gunpoint down in Mexico, they forced me to give them all they could take from the ATM card (about $480 US) This made a few things go NSF when they tried to collect (from items alreadycharged). Chase happily charged me NSF fees to the tune of about $160.
I have 2 accounts linked, and still had money in the other account, so I made it to my destination, but as soon as more money was added, they took it and put it in the overdrafted account (collected their fees from my misfortune, yes, I told them what happened). But there wasn't enough to cover all of it. Later, they took the rest out when the account was low, this did not cause the account to fall below 0, but the next transaction, which would have been covered, caused an NSF. My financiers have ceased to fund me through Chase because of their "leaky" accounts. Since then, the NSFs and daily negative balance charges have been building up. I have written to them and they keep saying they have a right to "balance out" a negative balance, basically, take money from one account and put it in another, without notification, whenever they want. Had the action caused a direct NSF, they say they would not have charged a fee, but since it caused an indirect NSF I would have to pay the charge. I said that manipulating my accounts and causing fees as a result is stealing. They call it banking.

That isn't all. When you walk away from a situation like this, they try to collect and it goes on your credit and some other record banks share, so you can't open another account elsewhere.

Definitely. Make this happen.

Have experienced similar situations in past with Chase... now the online banking fiasco, it's been 2 days and no legitimate reason is being given.

Tired of being transferred to customer service reps outside of continental U.S. Tired of dealing with supervisors who are unprofessional and aren't willing to take the effort to resolve issues. Tired of depositing funds which are accepted immediately.. but am not able to access my money when i want. My money is in that bank 24/7... i know that Chase has the means to afford the best specialists and systems. I spend most of my time out of my home state and do most of my banking either online or via telephone. Damn us, me if i want to access my money on saturday or sunday. Never any reps or supervisors available on weekends. Why is that. Is it because Chase and many other large banks are playing a numbers game... they have access to our money 24/7 but in essence we have access to our own money deposited with them, only so many hours a day... and for 5 days. Hmmm rigged game if you ask me.

count me in they ripped me off for 200.00 and it will cost more to file a suit. After cying in the bank they offered to split it in half if I would stop crying and not cry on my way out. Chase is not alone all the banks are ripping people off by every trick in thier book to get you to overdraft. The law must be changed. And the excuse I read by the banker about not able to notify everyone is bull the computer can be program to notify you or just insuficient funds when using card will do nicely or at least the atm can notify you of no funds and give you the option of accepting the charges. It is a very profitable racket all the banks are doing and it will not stop untill the laws are changed. Maybe a class action email to the goverment I am sure an million plus people have been ripped off by thier bank. jetmyster@hotmail.com

Please count me in this law suit. We had recently tried to apply for their overdraft credit line protection and was turned down. When we opened a savings acct. so that funds can be transferred when the checking is overdrawn, the $ was taken out by their collection without us knowing. We now have a zero balance and no approval for overdraft protection. I contacted Chase and was told that they cannot help us. This bank really takes advantage of the hard working class.
