Champion Windows installation and product

I will never recommend this company or these windows. The company is so unprofessional, rude arrogant and product comes in damaged. I hired this company to install windows in my home and all of them came in damaged. Installed unleveled. And cut corners to install quickly to get out of here. The district manager Jim is a arrogant rude person. Telling a hoe owner that they are not allowed to remove windows and told me i didn't know what I was doing and they did and that all I want to do is fight when I want what I paid for. Then the people they have representing their company calling customer ###s if uncalled for and unprofessional. We were promised quality and quality installation and have yet to see it and pushed for payment and not anywhere near satisfied. Then get told charging me for my old windows since they are removing and disposing of them. In which they had seen nor touched them due to me and my husband removed them before the arrived and we disposed of them. So I am not paying that fee. If this shows how this company operates then this company will never get my business or anyone I know. Word of mouth will hurt a business. I do not think its right to have a customer pay for something that was not done correctly and when trying to reach someone they put you off and never show up. Example frames came in damaged and they wanted to buff out and scratched up and wanted me to use their cleaner to take care of it. Sorry they are SCRATCHES...This company is a joke through and through

Champion Windows seal compromised

My home had new windows put in prior to me purchasing the home and the seal is broken on the double pane and
they are charging me damn near full price to replace the window. Because I didn't write the check to them for the new windows. Seems like a farce to give lifetime warranty for just one person when they knew he was selling the home to me. Never will I buy anything from this company ever!

Champion Windows product quality & installation

7 windows purchased for $7042.00. Three casement windows installed, three crank handles fall off (we were told to not open and close the windows so much), the Lever Locking Mechanisms in each casement is made of cheap plastic which strips after very limited use. One casement was installed with a 1 inch scratch on the glass. Two dormer windows installed side-by-side, were installed leaning in opposite directions. It seems Champion Window installers are not required to use a level, according to the Division Manager. During the installation of the dormer windows, the obvious tilting in different directions was pointed out to the installers. Their response was "the windows are already caulked, so we can't do nothing about it". We requested an at-home appointment with the Division Manager and the Repair Service Person. The three crank handles were tightened, but with very little effort will eventually fall off again. One of the three Lever Locking Mechanisms was replaced. The other two were deemed OK and nothing was done. They too will eventually strip out in time. The tilting dormer windows, with their OBVIOUS OUT OF LEVEL INSTALLATIONS, were declared "perfectly acceptable because the windows could open and close". The Division Manager again stating that Champion Window Installers are not required to use a level. The Division Manager also stated that it was no expense to him (Champion Windows) if we wanted the dormer windows straightened, the installers would have to come back at their own expense to repair the problem. And that any additional expense to work already completed on the interior trim was our problem, NOT CHAMPION WINDOWS. We paid $7042.00 for 7 windows. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE QUALITY OF THE WINDOWS, THE INSTALLATION, AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Champion Windows bad quality and installation

had a river entering our spare bedroom window installed from Champion, had rep come out and he claims it's a faulty frame not improper installation but also have a problem with mildew on caulking on ALL windows installed from Champion...rep says it's my fault for not cleaning with mildew remover...most mildew remover contains bleach...who scrubs their window caulking with a bleach cleaner and risks getting bleach on drapes and carpeting...feel so screwed by this company and am telling everyone I know to stay away from Champion! Wish I could attach video of rain pouring in!

I have replaced a few windows by Champion a couple years ago. The installation process was a night mare itself. But we funnily got thru it after the Regional Director visited my home. Now a couple years later, the all caulking in their windows are full of the mildew due to use improper caulk used. The other original windows have no mold/mildew at all! And they are 14 years old. They tell me the same – it is my responsibility to take care of the mold. But when they sales the windows, they say it a maintenance free windows. DO NOT TRUCT THEM! Poor job and improper material used! we should do something about that company! Atlanta, Georgia

Champion Windows extremelhy poor customer service

I called last Thursday (9/5) to complain about the paint coming off the handle of the patio door. I was told there would be a service person at my home on Monday (9/9) between 9 and 12 to replace the handle. At 11:30 on 9/9, I had not heard from the service person, not a phone call, not anything. when I called the office to find out what was going on, I got a recording telling me that the office was moving Friday - Sunday (9/6-9/8). The option to leave a message was not working. I called the Dallas office to get a new phone number for the new office. When the I reached the new office, I was told that they did not have the correct replacement handle in stock and that it would have to be ordered. I asked when someone was going to call me to let me know this information. I was given the excuse that they had just moved in and my appointment had slipped through the cracks. I was told it would be about a week before the new handle was in. this is not the first time that I have had a problem with customer service with the office. Shortly after my new windows and door were installed, I required further service as the new screen door kept falling off the track. That issue took six phone calls and three appointments to get that issue resolved. I love the product, but this office gives TERRIBLE customer service! Do not use this office! Work with the Dallas office instead!

Champion Windows lack of response

After the severe hail storm in March 2011 in Knoxville, TN we had Champion replace the roof on our sunroom as they were the original installers. We paid more than $1, 000 over what other companies estimated the cost to be so that we could have the warranty and the original company's products on our room. In late December of 2012, the roof in the sunroom began to leak extensively. I called our local office, who had performed the work, and arranged a time for a representative to come and survey the structure and see what repairs needed to be done.

A week later (their first available appointment), someone came to survey. In addition to a new roof, we will also need a new sliding glass door and frame, as well as a few other parts. The gentleman advised that it would take a few weeks to get those parts in, but that the roof crew should be calling in two days to get to our house. Fast forward to three plus weeks later, and I have called multiple times, including directly to the roofing supervisor's cell phone. Champion has never once called me back to schedule our roof to be repaired, and I have yet to find out a date for when the other parts will be in and get those installed. In the meantime with the extremely wet winter weather, we have had many days when our sunroom floor is soaking wet, leading the tile and wood floor to lift. The condensation the door and roof leak has let in has led to the door freezing shut in the morning, making it impossible to open, in addition to the black mold-like particles growing above the door and frame that have NEVER been there in 28 years of our family owning this home. At present, I am still waiting to hear back from the company.

The lack of response and professionalism from this company is irresponsible and abhorrent, and I will be sure to advise anyone I know not to utilize their services.

Champion Windows lying on contractual agreement and ordering items

My mother-in-law died in March of 2012. My wife is the executrix of the estate with her brother and my wife as the heirs of the estate. We began getting things repaired on a large sun room that my parents-in-law built under the estate. Orders for two windows allegedly still covered by the lifetime warranty were incomplete and one of the two windows took 8 months to get. They installed the first window finally (late by some months) at no expense but this second window which we were told was also still under warranty now is allegedly not under warranty and it is not their fault. I have found out that this is not an unusual practice.
We had planned to use them to enclosed a downstairs and an upstairs deck/patio areas at our own home; but with the lies and horrible mismanagement, we will definitely not use them. My brother-in-law who is a nationwide architect is ready to notify other architects of their unprofessional behavior. We are going to file a complaint with our state attorney general within the month.

Champion Windows contract scam

After arriving at a "cash price" and paying what I believed to be about a 33% down payment of that price, the salesperson wrote a higher amount (the negotiated cash price + my down payment) on the contract which stated it was the total sales price.
Unfortunately, I caught this too late and there's no way to prove the salesperson's dishonesty as there's nothing obvious on the contract to indicate foul play. This is an old sales tactic and a safe play as far as the salesman taking risk. If discovered immediately (as it should have), the salesperson can feign ignorance and correct the price or insist the price is correct as discussed. The customer should tell the salesperson to hit the door regardless of response. I encourage everyone not to let their guard down with this company (better yet, do not call them at all) and thoroughly examine the contract if you decide Champion will get your business. In this regard, they are not looking out for the customer and apparently prefer squeezing as much as they can out of a sale no matter the method.

Champion Windows liers / sales pitch deception

Champion sale people are trained to represent themselves as a manufacturer of there siding products and also say they have a exclusive window glass when that is not true at all. There siding they have been installing is a Crane brand if siding and the exclusive comfort 365 glass is Cardinal glass company glass. Champion sales people misrepresent and mislead there customers and say that Champion is the manufacturer when Champion does not manufacturer any glass product nor siding products.

Champion Windows stay away

Six weeks ago, we had a salesman from Champion give us an estimate. We live in an older home and wanted to keep the same look of the windows we currently have. After spending hours making sure the look would stay the same, we received our estimate and decided to continue with the purchase. The salesman measured the windows, then another person came to measure the windows. At that point we were informed that some of the things we wanted weren't available (after being told by the salesman that they were available). We worked around the problems and had the windows ordered. This week, the windows arrived. Out of 20 windows, 10 were the wrong size. Unfortunately, they had already begun to remove some of the old windows before realizing that the windows wouldn't fit. They shoved the old windows back in the holes (of course, they didn't fit securely back in and some of the glass panes were broken). I called the manager to complain and was treated like an idiot. He informed me that he had been a contractor for 30 years and an occasional mis-measured window wasn't unusual. Really? Half the windows in our house were wrong. And according to the work crew, this was the 2nd house in two weeks that had most of the windows wrong. Same person measured both. I told the manager that since we now had to wait for new windows, they needed to repair the old windows that were broken and no longer fit. They had planned to just leave the plastic over the windows until the new ones arrived. Its been 95+ degrees here. If putting plastic over windows is sufficient to decrease my electric bill, then I would have done that instead of ordering new windows. Of the windows they were able to install, 3 were installed in the wrong slots and had to be reinstalled. It has taken 3 days to install 10 windows. I have not received even one apology from anyone at this company for the inconvenience and shoddy work, not to mention the poor customer service. I think they assume that windows aren't consumable and therefore, we wouldn't be calling them to replace anymore anyway. They fail to realize that the internet has made this a very small world.

Champion Windows don't do business with them

I wish the people complaining would include what state or city they are complaining from. To be fair they are not all the same. They should state the place to put the pressure on the specific place of business. I have to say I have dealt w/ Champion for the last 8 yrs. We have replaced all our windows and siding w/ Champion and so far so good. We are extremely satisfied w/ the product and the sales reps. and service has been quick, responsive and not pushy at all. Our friends and neighbors that have Champion are satisfied w/ their products too. I'm thinking that it might be the people that are running the specific companies you're dealing w/ that are very irresponsible. I can't speak for around the country but here in Richmond, Va they have been very responsible and commited. I think it's great that you share your experience but we are talking about people's livelihood around the country and it's not fair for the good ones to have to pay for the actions of a few. Please, state the place you did business with. It will help the consumer better that way.

The best way to replace your glass is to call a glass company that makes insulated glass. Or you can take your sash to them so they can get the measurements of glass and thickness. You have remove the glazing bead to remove the glass and the glass needs to be smaller than the opening size to allow for expansion. Good luck, its easy!

Champion Windows poor install quality even worse service

Had windows and siding installed in fall and winter 2008. Routinely late and missed appointments during the month and a half install process. One window was clearly incorrectly measured wrong, but the installation crew filled with foam instead of ordering new one. Several months later, part of window trim blew off. When I called Champion, they said their installation warranty did not cover "wind damage" even though it was just a routine blustery day. Now a large section of siding blew off immediately above where the trim previously blew off. Again, it was just a blustery day and not part of a significant storm. I have been trying unsuccessfully for nearly a month to get Champion to come out and make the repair despite repeated assurances they'll be out the next day, or in two days, etc etc. The product itself (windows and siding) appear to be good quality; but beware of the install workmanship and lack of service. If I had it to do over, I would have utilized a different company.

Champion Windows unfinished work and misleading sales

My husband and I contracted with Champion to install a composit deck and to also finish up some soffett work for us. The deck job was nothing short of a nightmare! We were told that we were getting "commercial grade" decking...Well the guy that was installing it let it slip and told us that they get all their decking material at MENARDS! We are NOT happy! We could have gone to Menards ourselves and purchased this deck! We had to babysit the guy the entire way on building our deck, he left a huge chunk that he had taken out of a corner of our decking with his drill and didn't even fix it. We had to call and have them come out to fix it, only to have to call them again for popping screws, which they have not came back out to fix! Also, they never did show up to do the soffett work! I called the Cincinnati Corporate office today to let them know of our bad experience!

DO NOT contract with this company for any kind of decking work! We have their windows and love them, but we delt with another portion of the company for this job 3 years ago.

Champion Windows sunroom

We recently had a Champion all season room built. We were promised the room would be completed in 10-15 business days. Approximately 7 weeks after the project commenced, our room was "completed". We were repeatedly lied to about the slow progress of the room. Upon completion, we had custom blinds and flooring installed. We also purchased new furniture for the room. The room now leaks and the folks at Champion are too busy to come by to repair it. At first, they would not return calls, then we were given an appointment for the following month. The room plus furnishings cost us in excess of $50, 000 and now every time it rains, my floor and blinds get wet. (We actually have to move the furniture from the room). We have lived in our home for 10 years and have completely renovated it. This has been the absolute worst project and Champion has been the worst company to deal with. Stay away!

same thing with us delayed finishing, obviously shabby unprofessional work, drained our patience with continued attempts to stop leaking, hard to describe more heartbroken? or disappointed, ? and mad. Subsequently, a roofer did the rest of the house and said he'd take a look at it. He told me us that the attempted remedy by them to put roll roofing on it failed because they didn't flash skylights and that some shingles around skylight were put on backwards. Would never recommend them to manyone.

Champion Windows mis-leading sales tatics

Who builds Champions Siding products?
It's not Champion... The correct answer is Crane Siding...

Who builds Champions Confort 365 window flat glass?
It's not Champion... The correct answer is Cardinal Glass Company E366 glass.

It may be a shocker that Champion trys to represent themselfs as being a superior manfacturer with there are selling the same products name brand products you can purchase off though distribution. Beaware of doing any business with Champion as they are a ripp off and they are full of these mis-leading sales tactics.

If you want to have some fun then go into there showroom and play there sales games and see it for yourselfs. When they show there outrages prices, just get up and walk out there door without saying anything or waisting anouther minute of your time. If they are in your home just ask them to leave without any explanation. If Champion is going to try to disrespect you with playing there sales games then you should have any problem disrespecting them.

I ordered my sunroom the first week of March '11, and here it is mid-July '11 and I still do not have a completed room. It only took 5 months for me to have the whole house built and Champion can't seem to build a sunroom in 6 months. I feel as if I'm the inspector because of the poor workmanship they try to pawn off as quality. (eg. put two of the windows in backwards, the roof and gutter looks like a 3rd grader installed it and both leak when it rains, etc) Dealing with them has been nothing but one lie after another and then they deny ever promising anything. One word of advice if you plan on purchasing anything from them, get EVERYTHING in writing because that is all they will honor.

Oddly enough when I spoke to a Champion sales representative this week, I had "just missed" a 50% off sale, and he would convince his manager to give me the discounted price anyway. What a nice guy **eyeroll** And mind you, this happened after I told the guy that I did not respond well to hard sell situations.

He also offered a 10% discount for buying two patio doors, which didn't make sense because it was a discount on the total, not on the matieral price of the doors (which was never revealed to me, unlike with other window installers).

Champion Windows poor quality/service

Had an entry door installed about 3 years ago, have had nothing but issues since. The company prides itself on service, but it took them 6 months to service my issue with my door. Once they serviced it, a month later another quality issue arose with the door. The finish was coming off. I contact them again and the service was better, but still discouraged by the lack of quality. They have been through 3 different installation service managers in 3 years. The door is losing its finish in three different spots and looks awful. This door is the front of my house and they have offered no solution. For a company that adverstising on the basis of great service and products, they are far from either.

Champion Windows window quality

Just wanted to let you know how disappointed I have become with Champion Windows and your representatives…arriving late, weeks to get replacement windows, charges to reinstall replacement windows that had damage due to no fault of ours…seals gone bad…
I have come to find out that your “lifetime” guarantee is really only a 3-5 year guarantee depending on which option one chooses at the time of window installation. After that you have to pay a $75 “trip charge”…so much for the replacement guarantee...sure you will replace your windows as long as they are paid for again…window seals should not be going out so soon on what you told us were your “high” quality windows.
In short I would never recommend your windows to anyone and would try to dissuade anyone considering using Champion..all is well until you need service after the fact…and based on our experience you will need service after the fact.
In reviewing the internet I have found that there a number of complaints out about Champion. I just wish that I have found these before we chose to spend $20K with your company getting our windows replaced.

Champion Windows - window failure

We had five windows replaced about eight years ago by Champion. There are warrantied against failure for life. All five windows have failed and are foggy. One even has insects in between the panes of glass. I called in the beginning of November to get them replaced. The receptionist at first seemed so nice and so polite and told me she would order new...

The key world is a unresolved complaint with the BBB. Not that they have not had any complaints. If they was taking care of the customers you would have any complaints at all. Most people that ever have a complaint would just drop out because the mountain of paper work that the BBB puts them threw and if the complainant ever failed to respond the complaint get dropped. If Champion takes care of the problems the complaint gets dropped off as well as an resolved complaint and they rating does not suffer for it. An A+ rating does not mean they haven't had any problems.

Champion pays out big bucks to have that BBB sicker on there door. If you ever have to go threw the BBB complaint process there is a mountain of paper work. Most of complaints just get dropped becuase of the long process. That is what happens most of the time.

The BBB is a joke that Champion would like us all to have full faith within even though the BBB has no real authority to do anything. They are not an government agent and they have no authority at all. Anyone that has a problem with Champion Windows should just hire an attorney and sue them. Save yourself the headache of going though a mountain of paper work with the BBB organization. The BBB is self severing for Champion Windows and not for a complaint. Most complainants just get tired of the all of the rig-a-mo-role that the BBB puts them though and just drops out and go by the way side while Champion ratings go back up. It is shame that a company like Champion has to play games and put there customer though these processes as it might be cheaper just to take care of the problems in the first place. Champion chooses to act like a bully and we have a choose who we do business with.
