Champion Windows none

This is not a complaint! Before I had Champion install a window, a patio door, and an entry door for me, I looked at this site and read the complaints; needless to say, what I saw here made me nervous, but the quality of service I received in the showroom as well as what appeared to me to be a quality product encouraged me to go with Champion anyway.

I am not sorry. Yes, Champion products are expensive, but I believe I received what I paid for. The installers did excellent prep work, did no damage to my siding and did not leave a mess of any sort behind. The doors and window are a perfect fit, are very sturdy and come with a lifetime quarantee that seems to cover every circumstance.

I can only conclude that there are several different companies out there called "Champion" or that the individual Champion dealerships vary widely in the quality of their products and the expertise of their employees.

How does a company that has over 72 locations, installs over 14o, 000 projects, in 39 states get away with this? They must have every state attorney general in the US investigating them. What? They aren't being sued anywhere. They, in fact are most highly rated by not only the BBB, Angies List, and every other credible fair reporting agency on the planet, but you only need to talk to any of our representatives, installers, office staff to see that they aren't bleeaguered by continuous bad work. The two or three lame competitors who somehow put this junk out, then direct people to read when trying to compete are pathetic liars.

Champion has been nothing but incompetent ever since the sales call. Everything after that has been disingenuous and incompetent. I've no doubt some people got lucky either with individuals or a legitimate franchise here and there but by and large everything people have complained about on here has happened to us. We had four identical windows, supposed to take 4 hours to install take 2 1/2 weeks and were installed poorly. Their warranty service is best described as unethical. They try to get out of warranty work or charge us service call fees. There may be a few good and decent people in that company but by and large, they are a bunch of rats. Boy, I wish we had researched Champion more thoroughly prior to purchasing, we were so naive. Now we're stuck w/a crappy product and even crappier warranty service. Were I an attorney I'd make it my mission to make the local franchise miserable.

Champion Windows - fake warranty

Purchased Champion windows for the whole house in 1999. Had similar bad experience with the installation. Damaged the siding and interior wood work. Would not fix the problem for months. Withheld half of the payment until work was done. Work never done correctly. Now one of the windows needs a simple less than $10 part-but they will not sell me the part...

Champion Windows improper fitting screens

I purchased a Champion four season, over $35, 000 sunroom a copuple of years ago. I immediatley had bugs entering the screens. Bees and Wasp infiltrated my home. I have lived in the home over 15 years and the only time bees have entered is when I have the a screened window open on the sunroom.

There claim to enjoy the comforts of indoors with the pleasure of being outdoors is false. The only time I can use the room is with either the heat or air on because there is no breeze because I cannot open the windows.

Champion says that bugs coming into a room of a screened room is a natural ocurring event.

Beware of fourseason sunrooms by Champion, they are a ripoff.

Champion was eager enough to sell me a sunroom with all kinds of promises as to the quality of their work, which I suppose others have found out is not true. First they placed the door in the wrong place but insisted that was what their salesman had drawn up. I did get them to change that. Second they left the dirt from the trench they dug for the foundation poured over a large bare spot in my yard, which would have been fine except for all the gravel, sticks and pieces of concrete that were mixed in with the dirt. Third they failed to notice a concrete angled step was to have led up to the sunroom so when I complained about no step at all they built a wooden step a sixth grader in shop class could have done a better job on. Fourth after the first installation and a second attempt to fix them several of the sliding windows still do not latch. They failed to call the inspector for the second inspection they were to make. In fact even when the sunroom was "supposedly" completed, they never called the inspector, which I had to do. When the inspector came out I was told Champion had not called them for the inspection between the laying of the concrete and the completion of the sunroom. The inspector ordered two electrical outlets installed and I am still waiting for that to be completed before the inspector comes back for the middle inspection that was not done due to Champion not calling them. Sorry to run on so long, it just feels good to vent as I continue to try to get the work, promised by Champion completed.

Champion Windows - leaky windows and worse warranty

I had (6) windows put in by Champion windows of Omaha nebrasaka 3 years ago and have had nothing but problems with them leaking air. The sevice techs have come out numerous times and tried all kinds of band-aid fixes that never work and have finally told me there is nothing more they can do to fix them. I got a quote from Champion for 11 windows for the price of $9674 which by the way, was twice(+plus some) as much as three other quotes from competitors with similar glass quality and u factor/solar heat ratings. Oh, did I mention this included a 45% discount. So if I had not received the discount, they expected me to pay $14, 027.30 compared to $4, 000 to $5, 000 from competing companies for similar quality. So my advice to anyone shopping for windows would be to ask for the high performance Low-E solar glass with argon and super spacers and you should be able to get similar products and then compare the prices. I was shocked at how high Champion was from the others and each competitor offered me two different product lines and none of them even came close to the high price for champion. I did my homework and did not let the salesman tell me what I wanted for the windows, I gave him a list of options for what I expected and then went from there. This evened the playing field for me. In the end, I chose an excellent quality window for about 1/2 to a 1/3 of the price without losing any quality ratings. I also asked to see a heat lamp test on each product I was interested in and found that they all met my expectations. It pays to do your homework. I would also suggest that you read the fine print of the warranties. That is really another factor in what sets these companies apart and why I chose the one I did. Such as Lifetime warranty, transfer warranty, glass breakage warranty and installation warranty. So most people will think I work in the industry but I do not nor do I have any affiliations with anyone in the industry. I just took my time to research the companies such as Champion, Milgard, Jeld-Wen, Ply Gem, Cascade, Pella, Simonten, Andersen, Marvin, etc. and then check the references of the local companies that install these windows. There may be an installation warranty with the local company that is not represented by the manufacturer. It pays to ask about all of it before you order the windows. Good luck... I hope this helps.

I have been reading through complaint after complaint on this website and have finally realized that the same few people are the only ones contributing to these extensive conversations (rediculously childish bickering, I must say). So I am now excluding any comments made by JOB, Tired of crap, and maskzman from any consideration when deciding which company to hire for replacement windows. You guys need to stop and let us consumers try to sort it all out for ourselves. You have done nothing but add to the discredit of your industry.

Maybe Ms. Jane should have yourr you know what served up on a silver platter for your foolish actions in posting her name. I call you BOGUS "job" and your bubby "tried of crap" are just Champion paid employee that monitor this complaint web site and try to counter act any negitive press posted within it. Job and "Tried of this Crap" are just two brain wished Champion employees. They know only what they are told by Champion. Its fine if you fell feel the need to personally attack me and others for exposing your game. Jobs thinks he has everything figured out but his all wet behind his ears. Sorry I'm not a Jane, I have other equipment.

Each State has different contact cancellation laws so buyer beware and read the all contracts and addendums that may be writen about a showroom purchases before signing anything. Within my State the contract recission laws is only good for in home sales and they do not cover any showroom purchases. Now stick that in you pipe and smoke it Mr. know it all.

No way can a Champion rep can bid a project properly without first visting the site and reviewing it for any other needs so all of showroom purchases are all flawed and leaves thoses customer are hung out to dry and left on the hook. These two Champion robots are just mad because their ole Used Cars sales games are being exposed here within. The lower the Champion reps is forced to sell his products at the lower his commissions he receive for his dog & pony "slick willy" demo act. A 50% discount off a JACKED UP price is still a just a jacked up price to pay. Why doesn't Champion just offer its products at a fair market value and quit playing those ole shaddy sales games with its customers. It is because Champion is trying to trick its customers into just paying more for its products? I think so...Why does a Champion have its employees monitor a complant web site anyways? Good luck with that Jobs.

What an idiot!
I am a Champion Sales Rep in a 3 day recission state and the 3 day cancellation period (not cancalulataion) applies, regardless of a purchase in the showroom or at the consumers home. A quick check of the Better Business Bureau, attorney general, Angie's List, or any consumer organization will bear that out.

maskzman here's a spelling lesson for you:

appearance not apperance
several not serveral
shady not shaddy
cancel not cancal
cancellations not cancalulations
contracts not contarts
from not from this one is probably a typographical error

But the supposed complaintant is jane Thomson, and she has the same problem spelling and getting caps done. Seems pretty fisy to me. If you were directed to this post to look for Champion windows, I would be suspect of whomever sent you this way and at least check other sources before making a decision.

The proper way to handle any credit issues was to tell the customer about any and all issues up front and not give the apperance of any run around or shading business operations.

The newer credit laws requirements says that a percentage rate must be stated at the "time of sale" and its can't be just skated or shopped around like it has been in past. The Champion sales salepeople are trained by just telling the customers that Champion is not a credit company and they do not know what rate would be and they will just shop your credit and contact around to get the best rate possible with serveral different credit companies that they may have lined up to use. This is not legal no longer these days and today a percentage rate for financing must be stated at the time of the sale and not just shopped around for the next day or two. This should be done within the customers home and during the time of sale with the credit issuer offering a rate over the phone. The customer must know what rate they are going to be paying before signing a contract with any sales company and this would stop these shaddy business deals from happening that has left many customer on the "hook" as they call it in the home improvement business. I call it "hung out to dry" because most always the buyers are going to be paying a higher rate then you should if they had only pre-arranged any finance options and that is real easy to arrange with a computer these days. Your just a captive hostage any other way and its not legal any longer.

Champion has had problems handling issues with customers who may want to cancal a contract with them. Lord help you if the customer that is outside your State requirements or timelines for contract cancalulation that was signed in your home . I have seen Champion refused to cancal a contract because the customer has gotten some buyers remorse after signing a contract even though she was within her rights and timeline to cancal. I seen a Champion rep tell this customer that she would lose her down payment because the manuafctures had already begun the manufacturing her order and that just wasn't the turth and had this customer just pushed a bit harder the would of has to cancal her agreement. Contract cancalations are more common because people just start doing research only after they sign contracts and not before hand... If any sales organization has to lie to sale its products then that is just cheating in my book.

If a purchase was done inside a Champion showroom the customer does not have the same buyer rights for contact cancalulataion and they are just "tagged and bagged" just after the door hits then in them in the back side. Champion teaches its sale staff members to get as much as possible down at the contract signing to prevent sales cancalulations. It is in the Champion sales training manuals. The higher the down = less cancelulations. The sale people are are so trained to always mark the cash" on completion box on all the contracts written even though they know its a bank financind deal to cover them. The sale people are told that when a finance company pays Champion then its a cash deal paid by the finance company. But that is really shaddy as well because when a contaract is marked at financed option and then the customer objected to any higher term of the agreement then it dead deal at that time and couldn't be enforced after that time. If the cash option is marked on the contarts then it looks like it was a cash deal form the start and the customer is on the hook for payment of the projects balance due aat its completeion or Champion could slap a lein on the house for non-payment.

Buyer Beware...

Oh another open house again I see. ha ha ha waht a joke that is... I have worked for Champion before and it sounds like some of you posting on here still do.. It isn't carp or hipe its just that the truth hurts. As far and the credit issues they act like they are going to help the customer get the best interist rate possible and that Champion is going to work for you right. It is just to get you past any contract waiting period within your State may have like 72 hours and so that Champion can keep your down payment money and the customer could be forced to go though with the contact and pay the remaining balance due if you don't accept the terms. Champion wants to hold your hand to the fire and they want you to hold harmless. Guess who wrote the contacts and train their employees to favor their position. It sounlds like the customer is getting Bar-B-qued not just bamboozled.

50% off an 200% marked up price is still all jack up price to pay for any window. Why not just do business right way and stop all the hogh mark-up crap Champion? You got egg all over their faces once again and your being expose for the pigs that they are now...

Champion Windows people's complaints

I wish the people complaining would include what state or city they are complaining from. To be fair they are not all the same. They should state the place to put the pressure on the specific place of business. I have to say I have dealt w/ Champion for the last 8 yrs. We have replaced all our windows and siding w/ Champion and so far so good. We are extremely satisfied w/ the product and the sales reps. and service has been quick, responsive and not pushy at all. Our friends and neighbors that have Champion are satisfied w/ their products too. I'm thinking that it might be the people that are running the specific companies you're dealing w/ that are very irresponsible. I can't speak for around the country but here in Richmond, Va they have been very responsible and commited. I think it's great that you share your experience but we are talking about people's livelihood around the country and it's not fair for the good ones to have to pay for the actions of a few. Please, state the place you did business with. It will help the consumer better that way.

Champion Windows replacement windows

December 07, 2008

To Whom It May Concern:

On June 30, 2007, I purchased 11 double-hung windows from Champion Windows, Siding and Patio Rooms in Elmhurst, IL. The work was performed in August 2007 by Mr. Dave Milsap and his crew.

When winter 2007/2008 came, I noticed the windows in the family room were drafty and there was a layer of ice on the inside of my new windows. I called on January 31, 2008 and spoke with Bruce Carter at Champion about the situation. Champion sent out a gentleman named Peter, who re-measured all the sashes after he determined they were originally measured/installed incorrectly. March 11, 2008, the new sashes were installed and I thought the problem was fixed. Throughout the spring and summer, I didn’t have any issues.

Winter 2008/2009 has arrived and I’ve once again noticed a draft coming from these windows, and there is severe condensation on the family room windows in the mornings. While I’m specifically disappointed with my family room windows, as they seem to be the worst in this situation, it seems that the windows facing West are the ones having problems.

I called Champion again in November 2008 and spoke with Scott who said Champion would send someone out again. On November 25th, Dave Milsap, who originally measured and installed the windows, arrived and notified me of a humidity problem in my residence. I informed Mr. Milsap that my humidifier has been disconnected since Spring of 2007 and that, to ensure this was not a humidity issue, I’d already borrowed a de-humidifier from a neighbor for two weeks and hadn’t pulled out any water from the room. The reserviour of the de-humidifier was completely dry for two weeks.

I took it upon myself to contact some of my neighbors, some of whom used Champion but most of whom didn’t, to see if they had any type of condensation on their windows in the mornings. All, including the neighbor who had used Champion, said no. In learning this, I acquired a temperature/humidity sensor and began tracking the inside temperatures, outside temperatures and humidity levels on a daily basis. The sensor was reading approximately 40% humidity on daily basis.

While Mr. Milsap was investigating the situation on November 25th, his humidity sensor was reading approximately 10% higher than mine, and again he insisted it was a humidity problem. I’d informed Mr. Milsap that I had taken my temperature/humidity sensor to my neighbors house the night before and it read approximately 40%, as it was in my house. He then said that I should turn my heat up to correct the situation.

On December 2, 2008, Mr. Milsap came out with a crew, removed the outside casing of my family room window, and installed additional insulation. Mr. Milsap then informed me that I was “the only one complaining” and that the moisture is probably due to the fact that there is a retention pond behind my house and no other buildings blocking the water. If this was the case, there would be approximately 10 houses with condensation on their window, as that is how many houses are on the block whose back windows face the retention pond. The windows are still drafty, and as of this morning, there was condensation about half way up the windows in the family room. With all the tracking of temperatures I’ve been doing, the trend seems to be when it’s under 40 degrees outside, the windows start condensing, and the colder it gets outside, the more water/condensation is on my windows in the morning. I keep my thermostat set at 70/72 degrees and think that if I turned my heat up, as Mr. Milsap suggested, there would be more of a temperature difference between inside and outside and I would end up with even more condensation.

These windows are supposed to be more energy efficient, and it doesn’t seem this way with the windows installed in my house. They are still drafty, and according to Mr. Milsap there is supposed to be “some play” in the windows. While I can see that, as the windows are capable of folding in for cleaning purposes, I don’t think I should be able to wiggle the window when it is closed. The draft is coming from the area where the latches are. I believe the seals on these windows are faulty.

I’m having no success on my own resolving this situation, as Champion seems to be treating me like “the boy who cried wolf”. I’m asking for your assistance in the matter because I don’t want to feel that I spent $6400.00 on sub-standard windows. I’ve enclosed copies of work orders, although I didn’t receive a work order the last two times Champion was at my house, as well as copies of my temperature/humidity tracking.

Thank you, in advance, for your assistance with this matter.

Sincerely,

Denise M. Ihde

Here is the real problem in your both of your cases that have posted before me. Its just a simple case of a flawed business model used by Champion as I posted numerous times. Champion locations across the country are mostly co-owned and operated arrangements. Each co-owner are mostly paid on a performance bonus or percentage profit business model. So these co-owners get so focused on trying to drive new business growth forward they often fail to take car of the existing customers as in your cases. They can ill afford to back up and spend the money nor the labor that is involved to fixing major hiccup such as yours. Champion has chosen to point finders as they always do and take the risk of being sued as opposed to just fixing your problems. Other problems within its co-owners are the refusal to let any one out a contract that is not protected by law or refund any money any way shape or form. Numerous projects was under estimated then the customer are just left on the hook and hung out to dry or any additional product and/or labor needed to complete a project. But on the flip side if Champion over estimate do you think they write a refund check. Don't count on that. Its all profit. Champion reps typically will overcharge to help drive up the profits and his commissions. After all they are commission only sales reps. That is the norm within Champion and I believe it starts at the top and rolls down hill. Champion has an additude problem within it like we are SUPERIOR and if you give us any bad press we won't help you. Champion should just take its code of ethics values and wipe its back side with it the next time they go to the crapper. IT MEANS NOTHING and isn't worth the paper its written on much like its warrenty...

Denise,

If you do have moisture problems within your home that will accumulate on the windows surface.

All windows are design and rated to have a small amounts of air leakage within them. With that being said.

Your windows are not supposed to have a large amount of air leakage or drafts of air that is coming into your home and that is more then likely the cause of your problems that you are experiencing. With a larger amount of colder air coming around your windows that is being meet by the heat that is being produced within your house that should be what is creating your condensation problems. With today's more efficient glass technology's most of the glass has multiple coatings or layer of glazing's that are applied to the glass surface. Clear glass is passed through a application process where multiple layers metallic and non-metallic elements are applied to the class surface resulting in a finished glass product that is then sold to Champion which then uses it within it produced products. But that bad news with multiple layered glass product and its multiple layers of Low-e coatings that are applied your window glass they are subject to have more condensation build-up on the glass surface do the temperature changes or the climates that surround your windows. That is a trade off of the higher performance more energy glass and is a known problem. You could have a case of some defective glass or a defective finished manufactured product but more if you can rock your window around I would say its a installation problem and should be fixed by Champion one way or the other.

Denise I totally agree with what you have gone thru and truely feel for you in your situation. Mine is practically the same you are always wrong and we at champion feel you should just live with it because we are window people and sure know what we are talking about. Does this sound familiar, I have heard it all from Champion of Omaha. Get some smoke sticks (purchase on internet) and when the wind is blowing do a smoke test around the windows and make sure that you take video very plain and clear and when your done take them to small claims court or go to the attorney generals office with your complaint. Scream loud and then louder till they fix your windows or you get your money back (I say get the money back) and find a very reliable window company do lots of reseach and talk to lots of people and when you get your next quotes make sure that you video everything that is said and keep it for your consumer safety. I truly feel sorry for you and hope you come out right on your journey. BAD

Karen,

Your conmments are pretty harsh, so you must be having big issues. Try contacting Champion headquarters in Cincinatti Ohio and see how the response changes. Like any large company, sometimes you have to go to the top.

I am not a complainer, but the door installed for us by champion is the biggest waste of money we have EVER spent in our lives. The seal on the glass seperated. We have had them out to replace it 3 times. Have never been offered a replacement door, and have been told 3 times that the seal would hold, and of course never has. Jim, so glad you had a good experience, wish ours had been as good. We now MAY have to buy our front door from China. We tried an American company and they let us down, big time. It is NOT truly a lifetime garauntee, and the service is not execellent by any means. When you pay $1, 600.00 for a front door, you expect it to last more than 3 years. It's not like going thru the drive thru window at McDonalds. You expect to have the order wrong because you pay for what you get. For $1, 600.oo I should have received an excellent product and I received a totally unacceptable one that needs fully replaced. Their product is at best mediocre, and as soon as you start having issues you will be singing a new tune.

Champion did my windows, siding and a beautiful patio room. I just wish they remodeled kitchens and bathrooms because they are awesome!
I think you people who complain are the one's who really do not know what you are talking about and have WAY too much time on your hands.
If you ever had a remodeling job done by another company my guess would be you would have something to compare Champion to. Then you would find out that they are an excellent company.
I had an installation issue that was immediately responded to and corrected. I have had two services in four years and had the same result. Great job Champion. I could not have spent my money anywhere else and received this type of value and committment.
Maybe you all should try treating people and companies for that matter like human beings and not DEMAND service.
If I was Champion and you were as ### then I would treat you like one. Fortunately for Champion they are not like me and woulf bend over backwards to help you anyway.
That may be why they have grown this American company from the ground up and it is the nation's leader in remodeling.
That's right...why don't you all just get off your high horses and act like civilized people before you have to get your windows from China!
Thanks, now I'm fired up!

Champion Windows - product

Question: Has anyone ever had this problem? We had Champion windows installed in our entire home two years ago. The UV blocking makes our house colder in the cold weather. I understand what UV protection is about and yes that it blocks the heat from the sun coming in. We live in northeastern Ohio and winters are pretty cold here. I feel these windows are...

Champion Windows horrible mis-measured windows

I order 9 windows in June 2008 and the Salesman told me that any rotted wood on the window casings would be replaced. In August 2008 the Installers came and 3 out of 9 windows were the wrong size and they told me that they do NOT replace any bad wood and that they install new windows over rotted wood. I called to complain and they told me that replacing wood costs extra and that the Salesman was wrong. I filed a report with the Better Business Bureau and then Champion promised they would replace the wood and order the windows that were incorrect. On Sept. 20, 2008, the Installers came back and installed 8 windows and 1 incorrect size window and ruined the casings & inside woodwork on two of the windows. They also did a horrible job on the outside trim work and did a very sloppy caulk job & there were many, MANY scratches on the new trim with MANY mis-cuts. The new trim is the correct color but is very cheap & thin and is not textured (woodgrain pattern) like the sample they gave me. This whole thing has been a total nightmare and is not over yet. The Installation Manager is coming over on Monday, Sept. 28th to look over the horrible job and I have a feeling that this one is going to go to court. Do NOT use Champion Windows--you will regret it!

We have had windows and siding replaced. Poor initial quality and products, poor warranty service, a miserably poorly managed company with bottom tier sub-contractors.

the champion windows in winter with the 365 glass work well until the temperature dips below 40 degrees F.below 40 degrees perform like the 60 year old single pane windows i had before.they suck the heat out like a vacuum.

we bought 11 windows from champion in oct 2004, and these windows are totally junk. the bathroom window was installed the wrong way and the top part of the window-double hung won't open anymore. all 3 windows facing the north side of the house do very poor job keeping the heat in, in the cold winter months. i blame the 365 glass they use for that. in the summer the windows perform little better keeping the heat out.it seems to me that the 365 glass works better for homes down south, but not for the cold new jersey in winter.

I appreciate reading all these comments about Champion Windows because I am in need of new windows and I was going to call Champion.
If they installed windows over rotten wood, I think they should have come out immediately and re-done the job. That's probably not going to happen.
I would like it if the original person who complained would write a follow-up review of the job Champion finally did regarding the rotten wood under the windows.

Wow, most companies would have you to pound salt by now. There is no question that windows should not be installed over rotted wood, but the fact they are still working with you and responding is excellent. Have you never heard of companies telling you they are done with you. Be patient and you will have a good result unless you are so unreasonable as to never be satisfied.

Champion Windows new window leaks

I had a picture window installed in July (2008). The second day after installation it rained and I noticed water in the inside track of the window. I called and they said that it was normal. Whoever heard of a window that leaks? Champion Windows.

Stay away from this company, unless of course you want to buy leaky windows.

Champion Windows windows, siding

I ordered two windows and one sliding glass door and they were supposed to be here between 8am and 10am they would not show up until after 11am nor did they call. I called them. We have been waiting for siding for 10 wks now and we are having gutters done and soffits so it is not a small job. We call and no one calls back until we have called at least three times and we call the company. You would think in this day and time with money being tight they would jump on this. But I will never refer anyone to them for anything. I am very dissappointed in there work ethics not that they have any.

Champion Windows - fraud & scam

Boy are you people stupid. I have just spent the last 3 years with Champion lying to my customers about pricing. Do not believe any of the SALE prices or discounts. They are all fake. It doesn't matter if it is 30%, 40% or even 50% off. All they do is mark up the original retail price to give you the discount. Do not buy anything that night. Just call back...

Champion Windows misinformed people!

I had champion install windows in my 50 year old rental unit. They did a great job! The windows have saved my renters at least 50 percent in there gas and electric bills. And there service is top notch! They repair any problems quickly! I have been reading these complaints about sales practices... Doesn't it make sense that after the salesman spends an hour or two teaching you about windows and the differences in products, companies, and warranties...that he has earned the right to ask you for your business? How many other window companies spend more than 30 minutes in your home? How many say more than heres your price! They are the largest home improvement company in the country... do you think they got there by not standing behind there products?

I have read complaints from people that describe problems on there windows and the parts they are describing aren't even on a champion window... how can you trust anything you see on the net... I would leave my decisions to fact... ask the rep from champion to see the last 5 people they installed windows for and call them to see how their experiences were. A lot of misinformation here! Thanks for the great job champion and I will continue to recommend you to all my friends family and coworkers.

Champion took almost 8k in 2003 for gutter with guards with a lifetime warranty, They were coming out cleaning them without a problem but now they refuse, stating I must pay them $99 to do so. I have been back and forth since 2020. The last technician stated they were installed incorrectly. But champion is asking me for a warranty from 2003, and I asked them to send me a copy with my signature on it? They now stating their warranty don't cover incorrect installation. What? State my warranty is only good for 2 years. What? Who pays 8k for $300 worth of vinyl with a 2 year warranty? So, now if the warranty was only for 2 years why were they servicing the gutters for the past 17 years free? This woman just told me that someone wasn't doing their job correctly. Lol, i said it must be a lot of someone's. Nah, they were correct, y'all just did a 360° flip on me. They are a nightmare, and I guess it's time to get legal on them. I'm guessing there is a lot of damage under these gutters now. So here's just some of the proof, tried to upload a video. See for yourself.

I purchased vinyl and gutters with gutter guard on them in 2003, The sales person stated I would never have to clean or buy gutters again. I spent almost 8k. I've constantly called them to clean the gutters without incident until 2020. Now I'm constantly fighting back and forth to get clogged gutters cleaned. They are now saying I must pay them $99 to clean gutters with gutter guards. They also leak really bad in the corners at the seams. The last technician stated they were installed incorrectly. I can't began to imagine the damage underneath. I Filed a complaint with BBB, no help because I was only contacted by the local disrespectful manager. Now guess what they are telling me the warranty states? They don't cover incorrect installation! This company is a home owners Nightmare! It has been over 18 months and I'm still trying to speak with someone in corporate. Today i called their consumer affairs and I'm waiting on a callback.

My wife and I replaced all the windows and sliding door in our house mid September 2015. The quality of the windows I believe are better, I don't feel a draft like I did with our previous windows but I haven't seen any change in our electric bills as I was told would happen in the first couple months. On Thanksgiving holiday weekend by sliding door started leaking water around the seal on top, I called and there installers came out and resealed the top portion both inside and out. It's been a month and this past Christmas holiday my sliding door started leaking again and this time it's worse. My first payment on the $16, 000 dollars worth of replacements isn't till January. This feels like a bad trend starting and I've given them the benefit of the doubt but I'm leaning towards filing a complaint with the BBB.

We bought a house that had Champion Windows installed in them the year before we bought it. We have had nothing but problems with them. The windows they installed didn't actually fit. It took three months for them to even send someone out to look at them. Then they took another three months to repair one window. The other eight still have not been repaired. Despite the obvious gaps, and failure to close properly. Even the repair guy admitted, after seeing them, that they were the wrong size. It's been three years since they replaced one window and we haven't heard from them since. Did I mention they failed to insulate around the windows? For the last six years I have been insulating one or two windows at a time during the summer months. Apparently they removed the existing insulation when they were installing the windows and never bothered to replace it. What a mess! My advice to any consumer considering buying from Champion; DON'T DO IT! Their product is crap and they will not honor their warranty. Our experience has been absolutely awful, and based on our experience with their representatives this is business as usual for these crooks.

Ollemcrem " I'm not an employee or ex employee of Champion"
There is huge flaw in your post. Do you really expect us to believe you or buy into anything what your trying to sell us today? Your spewing a line of pro Champion crap while using a bunch of industry buzz words like "energy saving" and you have the gull to call a Champion window a "amazing product" when really Champion is just the laughing stock of the industry. That shows us your just a green horn.

You sound just like another Champion corporate sales rat that is running on the Champion wheel go round. Champion will send in these spineless corporate rats to try to counter act any negative press. The facts are your just another soon to be future former employee of Champion and the sad thing is you he doesn't know that yet. LOL...

The sales guru couldn't hang with me as I would clean your sale clock and send you down the road packing with your tail tucked between your legs as your just a guppy in a pond full of sales sharks that doesn't need any of your brand of micro management. You lead, follow or get the hell out out my way and you know what you could do. I do not have to throw up a bunch of smoke and mirrors or spew a bunch of crap to sell any of the Champion junk either.

maskzman, the way you were writing sounds so much like an ex Champion employee that couldn't close a door. WIIFM? I'm not even going to explain that one. Read a few good sales books and stop whining about a company that gave you an opportunity to help people make their homes more valuable, save money on utilities, and make you a few dollars in the meantime. And no I'm not an employee or ex employee of Champion, I'm a Sales Trainer and I speak to sales reps on a daily basis. For everyone complaining about the price being too high, go with the lowest price you can find because you obviously can't see value in an amazing product, and Champion doesn't want your business anyway.

Jeff LT - Your perception and evaluation was very well put and I totally agree with your posting. Your spot on and
Dido on your last statement - Just be prepared for the sales process described above and don't sign anything until you're satisfied you've adequately shopped around. Why does Champion use these sales tactics if the company is everything described its because its not really and it looks like your seen that in there presentation. I have only posted here within this site to expose Champion sales tactics as I know that to be flawed and many customers have been ripped off from Champion by paying way to much because they didn't adequately do there shopping. Who's fault is that? Yeah its the customers fault for that, but Champions tactics needs to be exposed. I have only used this form just inform the consumers as they can purchased a comparable product for about half of Champions 40%-50% discounted sale price for the very same type of product. By no means does Champion produce a superior product and most of the time it is just a OEM built product. Meaning that they are purchased them resold from other manufactures while representing themselves as the manufacture and that needs to be exposed so here is a prime example. Champion uses "Crane" siding products. But one of the first things out of there so called "factory representative" lips is to tell every customer how they are the manufacture? That is not the truth. Yes, I am a short term past employee and some might call my posting sour grapes but someone need to be full disclosure here and the customer need to do there research before doing business with Champion Windows of Cini, Ohio. Champion has tried to undermined me and my posting with Pro-Champions posting by there own employees which really they don't have a clue. Thanks, MASK

I am not a Champion employee nor am I Champion customer - just a home owner looking for quality windows at a fair price. In the process of looking for windows, we contacted Champion to come to our home and provide a quote. As most of the internet complaints communicate, you should plan for 3+ hours to go through the process which includes a history of the company, publications touting the professionalism and quality of the company, a walk-through of your house, measurement of windows, construction examples of their windows to represent window quality and even an onsite test to provide an example of how well Champion windows can lower energy costs. This is fine although it took much longer than I would have liked. However, the sales tactics described in most complaints are absolutely true and difficult to understand given that I perceived the company and quality to be good - why use these tactics if the company is everything described?. Our salesperson was very nice, very personable put definitely trained to apply pressure to sign a contract immediately to insure a 45% discount. The price was high at best for the windows being offered. As I inferred in the opening of this comment, we did not purchase these windows. Our decision was based simply on the fact that there are better options available for a better price and I believe each homeowner owes it to him/herself to shop around. I would not recommend using Champion based on my evaluation and taking the time to shop around. However, part of shopping around might include giving Champion an opportunity to bid - just in case your experience with them is different than mine and they are able to offer you the best price for comparable quality. Just be prepared for the sales process described above and don't sign anything until you're satisfied you've adequately shopped around.

Champion Windows scammers and liars!

Champion is the best home improvement company in the U.S. Check a credible source like the BBB to get the facts. The location in Knoxville has never had any unresolved complaints. Sure things happen but Champion always stands behind there product and always will. They have the best warranty for windows and some of the best products for energy efficiency. Anyone that really had a problem only need to call corporate [protected]) and they will make sure your job is done right.

I had Champion windows put in my windows three months ago and I'm completely satisfied with the project. The sales guys (Gary and Joe) were great and the installer (Don) did an excellent job. I've had cheap $200 windows in other houses and the Champion windows, albeit quite a bit more expensive, were MUCH better. One of the salesman even came back the day after the job was done to make sure we were happy, which thrilled my wife since these guys actually cared!

Champion Windows poor service!

Champion advertise custom room but, would not put baker board under vinyl siding in under room/deck, bees enter room thru poorly misfitted screens. They would not insulate roof where they tied into existing roof with there I-beam. There is no way to heat/cool a room with direct access left to outside air thru roof vents.

I would not recommend anyone purchasing the patio rooms or doors or window. They are very rude and scary people...

I have a SUPER patio room built by Champion in the Washington DC Metro area and would do it all over again! We have never had ANY problems in the 5 years we have had there room. The Rep anwsered all of our questions and was also low pressure and professional "unlike other companies with there same day only pricing and salesman that camped out at our kitchen table!". Champion had a nice showroom as well as customer list of others with there room I could talk too! I would tell others to do a little more research then whats posted here on this site! When I read things like mold growing in the room? or they where rude and scary people? It makes me wonder who is really posting? There competition maybe?-LoL

Champion Windows wrong order!

I placed an order with Champion Windows and request French grids on the top only as is the case with Craftsmen style homes. I told the salesperson that I wanted them to look like the house across the street and 3 doors down and he said yes. Well, on the contract he put French grids, but didn't put French grids on the top. I didn't think anything of it because you only see them on the top. Well, they installed the windows and I gave them access without being there. I called the salesperson and he would never answer my phone calls. Then the entire order didn't come in. Then they installed them incorrectly (to the credit of the installation manger they did come and correct that). I called the sales Manager, and he totally dismissed me and said he had to check with the salesperson; you know the one that never called me back. Then, instead of calling me back directly he had salesperson call me back, who then lied and said I never asked for the grids on the top. Then, the sales manager called back and said he would have to take the word of the salesperson and not me.
I should have known when the salesperson said I could get an additional discount if I ordered to today. Totally, used car salesmen tactics. On the sales side no one ever once apologized. They said the company president would call me back. Of course, as of today, he hasn't. The windows are good, but don't sign anything with this company unless you go over everything with a fine tooth comb. I would rather have paid more at Lowe's or Home Depot knowing I had someone who would stand by their product and wouldn't use the type of sneaky, deceptive sales practices.

Why can't the Branch MGR just do his job and make this man happy and quit pointing fingers at each other and putting this man though the "BLAME GAME " as Championwopuld oput it, Its just the buttom sashes can be sent back to the factory and the grids could be removed then reinstalled into the window. The windows do not have to be taken out of the this mans house. I see Champion is taking care of the paying customers? That is a shame becuae you know he overpaid for those windows anyway . Get off your duff and do you JOB Champion people and make this man happy. You shouldn't of given Champion any final payment for the project until it was done right. DON"T TRUST CHAMPION

Champion windows are just overpriced even at a so called "buy one window and get one FREE" or its 40-50 percent off sale price . All of Champion products are JAKED up in price and it does with a dog and pony show to boot. So what if it comes with a WARRANTY that covers window and screen repair! If you pay double for their products they could afford to replace if you needed them too but the odds are you would move out of your home before you would need any warrenty service done and that is what Champion is taking all the way to the bank. It is just a nice SALES JOB of a quility window product which people can purchase the same from other window companies. All Champion windows uses a newer generation Low E glass coatings on a outsourced class with argon gas put between the two panels of class in a insulated fusion welded frame and call it by there name Comfort 365 class. That is almost standard within the window market by todays standards. Champion just brain washes its sales staff and then call them a "factory representitives" and what a joke that is. The facts be know Champion doesn't build any class and most of the Champion class comes from Cardnal class company. Champion would like to con us all into thinking your going to save a high presentage on your ulility bill and your going to get a great return on your investment but you can get the same products at a much lower price without having to twice for it. Opps Champion, the cat is out of the bag now and your being exposed...

For Junk? if you buy a window for $200 -$$300 a window and have it installed for $110-$150 you aren't much less then Champion and you have no warrenty for the Install ...so if you had anything go wrong there you have NO PLACE to go back to...wake up and smell the coffee, , , at least you have someone working with you

The contract would clearly have stated if the windows had grids, which sashes would have them, and what design the grids would be. This is a contractual agreement and everything is clearly defined in the contract. It sounds like the contract was never read prior to being signed by the buyer.
It's not the window company's fault if they stood by the contract.

What planet are you from? Of course you should go over the CONTRACT prior to signing. Also most people would find it importent to be home during the installation. Did you check with Home Depot OR Lowes?

Champion Windows lesson learned!

Recently I unfortunately purchased some windows from Champion Windows out of Albany, NY.

My wife and I stopped by their showroom (very impressive) and spoke with a representative who took us through a series of testing booths & demonstrations. The presentation was quite impressive, showing how their window incorporated special glass and frame structures that really seemed superior to everything else that we had seen. They had chilling mist containers, and UV testers that compared their product against the competitors. I went home that night with my wife and discussed how good the product was.

Well the next day, they sent out a nice young man who measured the windows, and gave us a staggering price. I felt like a fool by signing the contract, but the windows seemed so good!

That Saturday, I was reading the paper and out comes a flyer offering 1/3 off the price that I was quoted. I was shocked, but chalked it up to experience, and vowed to my wife that I'd never recommend Champion to anybody else where I work, or our friends.

Just for kicks, I had another company come out and take a look at the project and they suggested that we contact the NYS Attorney's General Office regarding price gouging.

I bought on impulse. My suggestion is to always get a few quotes, rather than from someone who "seemed" trustworthy. After all, they said they were the biggest window manufacturer in the country. What really irked me was how I didn't recognize that I could have canceled the order in (3) days if I wanted to.
Nobody told me that.

But,... a lesson learned

Champion Windows - junk windows sloppy installation

I ordered Champion Windows Nov. 06 finally installed Feb. 07 with many problems. It's June 07 and still need a window replaced that doesn't fit right. It has been months for the replacement. They do not check for rotting wood under sills. They are a complete joke. If you want JUNK buy these windows. Take it from me, Andersen Renewel are the only way to go. The manager won't call me back. People beware!!!

Champion Windows multiple windows problems

I contracted Champion to replace my rear deck, almost all windows in my home and to build on a two-story sun room. Problems:

1. Sun room- construction was begun in October 2005 and was not completed until February 2006 when it was promised to take only 2-4 weeks.

2. Rear deck- had to be rebuilt 3 times and there are still problems!

3. Windows- windows bind, windows WILL NOT OPEN, sloppy installation.

The windstorm on 3/3/2023 peeled back the cover over the roof. It looks like a vinyl sheet that has come unglued.

Promised installation in approx. 7 - 9 weeks. Actual installation occurred after almost 17 weeks, with a lot of weak excuses in between. Installation crew was rude/unprofessional. Too many unacceptable surprises during installation. Overall experience was not at all good. I would not recommend Champion to anyone.

I have no doubt you did not install the windows correctly and they are a piece of junk! I have constant moisture on them in the winter and they now all have mold. What a mess! The newest ones you installed are the ones from the picture. Wow! Expensive junk!

I bought window's & doors from Champion in 2006. It has been problem after problem . It took them 4 times to get our front door installed correctly! The window's are double glass. They lose the gas in between the window's and there is a film inside the 2 pcs. Of glass. They will replace them if you stay on them . It will take 6 to 15 weeks to get it done .That's if they turn in the work order. Which 2 times they didn't, took 8 months to get it fixed . I live just outside if Knoxville Tn. 2 years ago they just completely went out of buis. Their service absoutley sucked! And attitude from every person I dealt with. Now we get service from Chattanooga office . Believe it or not they are way worse. My name is Richard Mcjunkins. If anyone is thinking about buying Champion Window's you need to look elsewhere. And about their sales team, they are very pushy and aggressive. I would not recommend anyone to buy these window's as they are way over priced . I think at one time they were probably a good co. But that is not true today.

I don't know if their product is better than the next guys or not, but I do know their salespeople are high pressure. They quoted us a price that was a sale price of 40% off and and extra 5% if we paid cash, but the price was only good if we signed a contract right then and there. We hadn't had a chance to price anyone else or check out any other window manufacturers.

As a former division manager, I can attest to all these complaints. If people knew all that goes on behind the the Champion veil, you'd NEVER buy from them. Do your homework, contact the BBB. ask for more than the canned referrals they offer you. BTW, their list price is marked up 100% from their 'par' price with is ultimately the lowest they can sell that window... without a competitive bid and the fancy phone call to the manager. joke!

By your handle I can only assume that you were born in 1985, which leads me to believe that you don't have much life experience at all. If I am incorrect in this, assesment, my apologies. There is no way to measure how criminal the behavior of not only the salespeople, but the division managers and the staff in general. You are obviously connected emotionally or financially to this company because there is no legitimate way you can vouch for them. They are crap, good day

Question; Why would any that was sastified with Champion Windows and/or patio rooms be looking on a site that has only complaints about Champion unless they worked for Champion? If you would like to hear or see my Champion horror story e-mail me.
