Gas rewards and travel voucher!
Complaint Rating: 100 % with 23 votes
I received a $100 gas rewards offer and a travel voucher to hear a presentation to join a travel club. The incentives were issued by Certs. The small print rules and restrictions for redeeming it seemed crazy (activate within 30 days, only $20 redeemed at a time, must wait 30 days each time to redeem next, must complete offer within 6 months, but each coupon is only issued when they receive the prior one AND to allow up to 4 weeks for them to process. Is your head spinning yet?) Of course now I add this all but and it's physically impossible to get all five $20 checks within 6 months when you include the processing time. But who reads all that small print? So was game initially. I activated it within 30 days, I mailed in my gas receipt with my coupon and actually got a check for $20, so I send in my second coupon. Didn't get my second check so called them up and this is what they told me: my second gas receipt had arrived 4 days too early and so the offer was now null and void!!!
My husband and I looked at the rules for the 3 day cruise and thank heavens didn't send any money.

Here's the kicker- we actually purchased the travel membership for $5000 and are traveling to AZ next week through this company. I am not naming them because I'm waiting to see how it turns out.

I will keep this website posted...

I posted a complaint about Certs a couple of months ago and forget to post my follow up.
Here it is:
I got no response from Certs but I kicked up such a stink with the travel company that they sent me a check for $100 - no strings attached. I encourage every one to do this because the companies that use these fraudulent incentives are very aware of that fact. You can bet for every complaint you see here there are hundreds of others. If they get enough hassle from us they will stop using Certs incentive certificates.

I attended a sales pitch for an RV Timeshare with the promise I would receive a TV worth $399, and $100 rebate for gas. The RV site was 120 miles from my home and weather was terrible that day. The tv was 7" and gets only one channel.

They gave me a gas redemption with Rewards Redemption Center(Certs, Inc.) where I would get $10 at a time. I sent in first certificate and received a $10 certificate in January, and sent in a gas receipt in February. As of now (May 9), I have heard nothing and probably never will.

First, we'd like to apologize for any inconveniences you may have experience redeeming your travel certificate from our company. Keeping that in mind, we'd like to point out a few important details regarding the travel certificate business.

Our business is no different than any other business transaction in which both parties must comply with their agreement and adhere to the terms of service.

We highly recommend in the future if you receive a call or postcard from a marketing company promising you a travel certificate if you attend a timeshare presentation that you ask for the name of the company responsible for providing the incentive.

We further recommend if it is a Certs, Inc. incentive, that you visit our web site (www.certsinc.biz) where you can read the entire terms of service for each incentive we offer, and then make an educated decision on whether of not to move forward with the presentation.

Certs, Inc. has no control over the presentation by the marketing company or the sales tactics used by the vacation club representative. However, we do police their activities and from time-to-time will discontinue the sales of our products to these companies if we feel there is misrepresentation.

Certs, Inc. has never, and will never, change the terms of service on our incentives "after" it has been presented to our clients customers.

If you have not received a booking confirmation from our company for the travel date(s) you provided, you are entitled to a full refund of all monies paid to Certs, Inc.

Due to the inconveniences of a large cancellation rate for booked travel, your travel dates will not be confirmed until 14 days in advance. This is to benefit you by allowing a full refund in case you an experience a life event that keeps you from traveling on the dates you provided us.

If you feel you have not received a fair chance at redeeming your travel certificate, please contact our customer service department (1-800-292-0099) so we can research your situation and act accordingly based off your incentive's terms of service.

Sincerely,

Gregory A. Peaden, CEO

I also have a complaint.
We were promised travel certificates. Followed all the rules. Also attended a 4+ hour meeting 65 miles from home on a horrible snow day. we have jumped through numerous hoops, turned everything in on time, filled out appropriately.and spent alot on postage. Also sent 100.00 along with all required copies of drivers licenses etc. We gave 2 dates for travel etc. Just received a check for 100.00 back saying our dates fell during Presidents Day week. OUR DATES WERE A MONTH APART. Does Presidents Day last a month? WHAT A SCAM!!! Haven't cashed the check yet but I have nothing good to say about CERT's

Well here we go, this is just another example of Americans hurting Americans. When we as a society feel that it is OK to take advantage of our fellow citizens and can sleep at night then what do we expect. I too have been scamed and it cost my family money that we will probably never see, I feel sorry for all those like me that have screwed by people with no morals!

My husband and I recently got an invitation from DirectBuy to sit through a 1 1/2 hour presentation on joining the company. With the invitation, we received a key that could win us a $50, 000 home makeover or $50, 000 cash. It also stated that if we did not win that, we could win other prizes, including a vacation package from Certs, Inc. Of course, we got the vacation package because it was the cheapest thing. On the Certs brochure it tells us we can have a three day/two night accommodations (hotel only -- must pay taxes on room and pay for transportation, etc) if we just send in a fully refundable $29.95. We have not tried to do it yet because I thought it sounded too good to be true. After reading these complaints, I am promptly throwing the brochure for Certs in the trash. Thank you.

Three days after we participated in a Vacation Time-Share Sale. There was an article in our local newspaper that this Company was a fraud. (scam)Thank The Lord we did not buy into what was being sold. For attending we were promised two free plane tickets and a $50.00 gas voucher.

After reading some of the testimonies from others having trouble receiving goods that were promised. I tore up my voucher and the cirtificate for two plane tickets which required us to send $50.00 for each of us at time of request. Wow! How dumb do they think we are.
