Do not trust this company when they give you a quote for your used computer. They offered me $60 and when they received my laptop that I stated was broken said it was only worth $5. They are very rude on the phone and will laugh when you ask for more money. You might as well throw away you laptop it's less hassle and you don't have to deal with these scam artists.

A total ripoff! They quoted me up to $158.00 for my iPhone 5S. Without any discussion, they sent me a check for $22.00. My phone was pristine. So who's getting the $158.00? . . . Nobody. Sell it to friend or on a website but don't use Cash for Laptops. Knowing what I know now, I would throw mine away before I would sell to these people.

Someone pointed out that they give you the opportunity to refuse their offer. Yes, they do...but you have only two days from when they SEND the email AND you have to CALL during THEIR business hours, even though the original quote was issued online. Unfortunately that does not work with everyone's schedule. You expect if they do business online that you can also reject or accept the offer online. Also, I called five times and was unable to get through, I waited it out but their phone system cut me off and hung up on me saying they were too busy. It may not technically be a scam because they offer the out, but they make it VERY difficult to get your device back and EVERY quote is much higher than what the real offer is. They clearly make it difficult on purpose with the intent of ripping you off. UNETHICAL business practices is an understatement.

Recently, I upgraded my AT&T iPhone 5 for the 6 and thought I should sell the unneeded phone on Gazelle or this site--CashForLapTops. I chose this site because it offered a slightly higher purchase price for my phone. They promptly sent me the necessary packaging for the phone and a week later, sent me an email that they would give me $10 for the unit. I called CashForLapTops and explained to them that is not what I agreed to and to send the phone back. I was told there was "spots" on the phone which indicated some sort of internal problem. This was news to me. Perhaps the only reason I had decided to upgrade was for the newer iPhone's camera. I asked them to send the phone back, but was countered with a $40 offer and told, that this was the BEST price out there for a phone in my "poor state of repair, " Again, I said no and asked them to send the phone back. I have filed a complaint with BBB and allege that this company employees bait-and-switch tactics. If it was only worth $10, why would they urge me (multiple times in the phone conversation, and then a follow up email) to buy it for $40? Low ball tactics! I have sold to Gazelle in the past, which I think operates with fair practices. Beware of CashForLapTops!

Sure wish I would have read these before sending my BARELY USED iPad to them. Mine is the same problem as everyone else! They quoted $124 online and I got $24 deposited into my Paypal account without so much as an email explaining why it was so low! There is nobody there who cares so don't bother trying to complain to them or getting your money back. It will not work. They must be getting rich is all I can say since there are so many people who are experiencing the same problem. Sad that they are still in business!

Cash or laptops or cash for iphones is a complete SCAM - DO NOT USE! I sent a 2 year old iphone 5 in perfect condition on the estimated price that I would receive $149. Once they received it, they informed me that it had heavy damage, scratches and pressure damages and that they could only give me $11. I asked for it back, so we shall see if they even send it to me. This was all after the AT&T store commented on how perfect the condition of the phone was when I upgraded to the iPhone 6. This company should be SHUT DOWN!

same company as cash for iphones!I sent in 3 iphone5 was quoted 155.00 a piece... e-mailed me back stating(2 weeks later) you will be getting 24 dollars for one 23 dollars for the other. I still haven't heard about the third one. Do not send this company any electronics period...glad I don't need the $$$ but a lot of people do. All 3 device's didn't have a scratch on them but THEY claim this is the going rate. I ask to send phones back, (I would give them away) told me by e-mail that I needed to call this number and come to find out you have 3 days to do this... sure is funny all contact was by e-mail but its a dog and pony show they are straight up taking advantage of people... that's my 2 cents...STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE ...not sure how any of these crooks sleep at night. My son used Gazelle and didn't have a problem, I should have listen to my son. ...

Actually I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they gave so great advice. If we all file a complaint with the Attorney General's office of Nevada we could generate enough of an issue that they will investigate and shut it down. I am a realist I know I won't get my iphone or the money promised but I am good with taking this sham of a company down. That would be worth it. Here is the number for the State Attorney Generals Office. [protected]. I will be filing a complaint today.

I recently sent 2 phones into Cash4Laptops. I was originally quoted $332. Once they received the phones, they offered me $13 for a broken iPhone, which I was fine with. They offered me $46 for a 4 month old LG G3 phone that was in perfect condition. It had always been kept in am OtterBox case and we had a $25 screen protector put on at the Verizon store where we bought it. I attempted to call on three different occasions but had to hang up after being on hold for a total of 4 hours. I contacted them through the "contact us" link on their website. It took 5 tries before the email went through- I kept getting an error message that I was entering the security code wrong. I wrote that I would rather have my phone back than sell it for $46. No response. Today, I received an email that they had deposited the $13 and $46 in my PayPal account. I called and was told that the G3 arrived damaged, with heavy use and scratches on the screen and the body of the phone. I asked for my phone back. I was told they no longer had the phone, but could offer me $80 for it. I said $80 was unacceptable. I was told that since I had made no effort to contact them, I had no recourse. I asked for a supervisor and was told the person I was talking to was a supervisor. She repeated that I had made no effort to contact them. I repeated that I had made numerous efforts to call and email. I believe that they make it as difficult as possible to contact them so that they can pay out as low a price as possible. Did I mention that I was on hold with them today for 67 minutes? I will never deal with this company again, and am considering contacting my State Attorney General Office.

Verison offered me $50, 00 for my IPhone 4s stating that it was in mint condition and that is the highest price they pay. When I sent it to cashforlaptops.com they promised me $95.00 then sent me $15.00. When I called cashforlaptops.com they stated that it had scratches on the case which is pure ###. This company is a rip-off. I suggest that you stay away from them.

I was given a $54 quote. I was waiting to hear from them and nothing, so I went online and there was a message there saying that they were sending me $9. It was 7 days old and past the "reject the offer" period. I called them to talk about it and complain about never receiving a new quote, The purchasing department did not want to have a discussion about the condition of the phone, which they said had lots or excessive wear and tear, which isn't true, and that the best they could go was $15. I asked for the phone back and they said it was impossible, so I could take the $15 or the $9. The young lady was rude, barely let me talk and huffed when I said I needed to be able to speak. Is it a scam? Yes because they lie about the condition of your phone. Could I have rejected the offer? No because they did not send me an email as they promised.

TOTAL SCAM! I sent my iPhone to this company. The phone was kept in an Otterbox protective case. Worked perfectly and I just upgraded. They Quoted price, they made up stories that phone was not working and had wear and tear. Quoted $197, offered $17! I fought to get $55. Crazy unfair. I wanted my phone back. I COULD NOT GET PHONE BACK! BAIT AND SWITCH!

I am having a continued series of unsuccessful attempts to get them on the phone - I have sent them emails - the phone calls are always forwarded to their purchasing department and then after a hold time an announcement of heavy phone traffic, call back later and about a minute later - line dead.

I have sent in emails corresponding with them to state my frustrations and to repeatedly send the phone back to me = an offer of $16 for a near flawless iPhone is an insult to anyone - but seems par for the course for these guys.

My next stop is the Nevada States Attorney, ICC/FTC and BBB of Nevada - If I cannot get the phone back - we need to file a class action suit and shut these guys down.

STAY AWAY! This place is an official scam. If you have had any dealing with them, call the Asst. Attorney General of the state of Nevada John McGlammory at [protected] his direct line.
This company is under an injunction and is being sued by the state, the owner of this company has until tomorrow to produce documents (that will be incriminating).

Here is a link to the local news station that did a story on this company: ktvn.com/story/[protected]/…

This company will quote you a high amount, use fake "Raffles" to encourage you to quickly send your phone. Then they "inspect" the device and offer you around $30 as the beginning of an intimidating heckling "negotiation" process.

Problems in a nutshell:
-they send you the quote late in the week on a Friday
-you have to talk to their Purchasing Dept. to decline their offer
-it is almost impossible to get a hold of them
-they have multiple quotes of their "opening" times to confuse you
-they open their lines 7-10 minutes late to confuse you further, I was lucky to be the first person through
-you have 3 bizz days to get a hold of them (they will tell you calander days when you finally get through their line)
-the Purchasing Dept will tell you it is too late and that your phone has been processed
-they will put you on hold if you interrupt them to scare you into thinking that they can just hang up on you, then come back on the line and offer you $100
-then when they realize they can't lie to you and say calander days versus the bizz days that is in their terms and agreements, they will agree to send your phone back and then hang up on you
-if you threaten with the Attourney General of Nevada, they will call you back and apologize and then offer you $150
-I still declined and we will see if they send back the same phone. I have pics and documentation of the serial numbers of phone, John McGlammory states that they often will send you a broken phone back.

DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE! STAY AWAY AND IF IT"S TOO LATE THREATEN THEM WITH THE ATTORNEY GENERAL!

These people are rediculous and it is the purest form of a scam I have ever encountered. I have no idea why I didn't check these reviews first. STAY AWAY!

Sent for a box - iPhone 5 - 32 GB - Unlocked - estimate put to $203 from their web site - after they received the phone - offer was for $16 !
I erased the phone and unlocked it through ATT directions.

Calling them to get my phone back - it was in PERFECT condition and I took photos when I sent it in.

This goes beyond lowballing.

Filled out the pre qualification survey to see that I would get $75 for my cracked iPhone. Once they got my phone, they only offered $5. Many people would not hassle to have the phone sent back and the company knows that so they get away with doing this. HORRIBLE BUSINESS.

Well, unfortunately, these people have figured out a better way to rip you off. You can't talk to anyone.
Online, they quoted me $329 for a lightly used iPad Air 128GB. After I (oh so foolishly) sent it off to them, I received word from their “support” email acct (they apparently don't read the many replies I sent) that they were going to be depositing $29(!) Into my Paypal acct.
I've called at least six times and everytime it’s the same: within a few minutes I get Someone who asks me for my transaction number and name. When I say I wanted to talk about my iPad Air, they forward me to “the right department for that” (since the person answering the phone can’t help me out apparently). Whether I’m nice or not (and I’ve been both) I’m put on hold and at the 10 minute mark they tell me to call back another time and end the call. Every time.

Last time, I asked to speak to a supervisor. “absolutely sir” she says and puts me on hold again.

AAARRRRGGGHH! Three hundred dollars! I am going thermonuclear on these people.
Any suggestions for how to get around this ridiculous phone hassle, I appreciate. May try calling the cops as noted above. Anyone try this yet? What results did you get?

This company is terrible. Got an estimate of $263 for my iPhone 5 (32Gb) and then they ended up processing it and paid me $38 for it. That's right. $38 (or 13% of the original "estimate"). They never called me or emailed me to tell me this new amount, they just sent it. So, now it sits in my Paypal account and I have to go back and forth with them via email/voicemails to try and resolve it. I just want to get my phone back so I can use gazelle or craigslist to sell it. Ridiculous. Terrible. Stay away from them.

I wish I had seen this before I got suckered in to this bait and switch scam. I had a fairly new Samson tablet. I friend died about 6 months after she got the tablet and I offered to see what I could get for her husband. They quoted me $160. Then with no notice of the drastic change, I got an email saying they made a deposit to my pay pal account. When I went go see the amount, would you believe $25?
There were no noticeable cosmetic problems, I sent it with the charger cord as well as the
Case she had used even thought nothing was said about them. I just wanted someone to use them for her.
Gad, I feel so very angry!

Here is a copy of the complaint I filed with PayPal:

A couple weeks ago, I sent an old iPhone to Cash4laptops, a company that pays cash for used electronic equipment. I told them I wanted payment by check and not PayPal. They said they would call me after examining the phone to let me know what they were willing to pay. I have caller ID and voicemail so I know they never attempted to call. I sent an e-mail asking them how much they were willing to pay; they refused to reply. I DID NOT authorize them or anyone else to deposit money into my PayPal account. The amount they deposited ($11.00) was not acceptable to me. I asked them to send my phone back; so far, I have heard nothing. This company's tactics are unethical at best. They're a company that PayPal would do well to avoid. Please send the $11.00 back to them and let them know that I DID NOT authorize their payment. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

This is a company you should avoid. Their business practices are clearly unethical, perhaps even fraudulent. I've sold used electronics to several companies in the past and they've all been upfront with their offers and their willingness to send the items back if their offers were not acceptable. If you have used electronics to sell, DO NOT use cash4laptops.

Back in 2010 they were actually not that bad as they are now- HOLY YOU KNOW WHAT HAVE THEY CHANGED TO PURE EVIL! The reps are obviously told to lie to you about the real condition of your device ; now has scratches, broken, etc. I just idiotically sent in my like new HP laptop to them and regret it 110%. I was quoted up to 180, should have got 180, but they said- excuse me- LIED that my computer has a cracked screen and scratches and I would only get $80. I was freakin LIVID! I then argued and ended up with 100 in my paypal account. I honestly could have sold my laptop on Craigslist and gotten 250 bucks but see what happens when you want fast cash? Lesson learned now time to move forward.

This is one scam outfit. A like new iPhone 5 was $270 offer and $50.00 when they called. A pressure damaged screen? Say what? I told them to ship it back and they still wanted me to take their low-ball offer. I asked how it could have been damaged? It was their packaging and was the box damaged. Hmmm, I don't have that information was the reply. I think we should contact the Nevada Attorney General and file complaints to get them out of business. They are among the lowest of the low.

SCAM alert. They say you'll get a certain amount of money. In my case, they said $75 or $85. So I sent them my perfect condition iphone. I sent it the way they asked, in their packaging, and very quickly. Then they called to say they would give me TEN BUCKS because it is water damaged! This is simply not true. So I asked for the phone back and they tried to haggle with me! I hope they don't hose it with water before sending it back. Do not use this service! Once your device is in their hands you have no control over what they do with it. They said I would never get more than $20 for my phone. SCAMMERS that should not be in business. I'm spreading the word.

I had apple care on my 32g 4s. I paid $50 to get a BRAND NEW phone the day before I sent it it to these scam artists. They kept it for 4 weeks and then low balled me with a $130 offer (their original was $330 and gazelle at the time was at least in the $200's). They told me the mute button sticks. This is for a BRAND NEW IPHONE from the apple store! I have documentation of all of this if anyone wants to see it! I never do this but I want to wreck this company online! I should have read reviews. I saw all the fancy logos on their website (wall street journal...) and I made a terrible assumption. TOTAL CROOKS!

Do not ever use the site cashforlaptops to sell an iphone, ipad... The are a complete scam. Trust me. They have all these credentials on their website (wall street journal...) but they are a total crooked organization. I sent them my iphone a month ago and I was just finally able to speak with an employee there. She offered me 1/3 of the original price they quoted me (and half of what gazelle was offering in Sept). I argued for about a half hour and I got them up from 130 to 200 (worth 250-320 when I sent it in according to numerous sites). They kept my phone until the price went down. Total total total scam. When I first tuned in my computer I had a quote of $206. I was looking forward to that... Then I received an email saying that you have the wrong contact info and to contact cahsforlaptops for an update of my account. So, I called a representative at their company who told me that I would only be receiving $86. Which I was very disappointed about and felt very mislead. What a scam! They quote you a high amount and get you to send them your phone. Once they get it, they say it's not worth anything and offer to recycle it for you. Just sold my aging laptop to this website sometime ago. It took them days to answer back. The expected part? I got a lower quote
The unexpected part? The lowered quote was nowhere near all those that I have read in the Internet. Now I'm starting to wonder how huge this company is to actually warrant the kind of reviews I'm seeing. Though I can't say that they are bad, I can't say they are good either because it took time for them to call me and I got a lowered quote. But you see, the lowered quote was the same one I got when I tried to sell the laptop in another site, so I don't think i can complain because it seems that they are just following the market value.

I sent in numerous devices at one time, they quote you at a higher quote than everyone else to get your phone in thier possetion, afterwards they tell you a bunch of ### excuses and tell you your phone is only worth X amount, which is much lower, and they tell you they will ship it back soon, it takes alot longer

EXAMPLE - Quote for phone was 129 for Iphone 4 perfect condition interior, only broken glass infront, which is 30 bucks to fix, they quoted me 21 dollars, from 129! RIPPPP OFFF!

IF YOU SEND YOUR PHONE IN EXPECT TO BE RIPPED OFF! DONT SAY I DIDNT WARN YOU, i wouldnt even send in a flip phone to get a dollar, becuase the time you send it in to get your money will take about a month and a half. NO JOKE!

These people are scam artists! We went to their online estimate of value for my wife's 3G iPhone and my iPhone 4. My iPhone 4 had been in an Otter Case since new, was 1-1/2 years old, was in perfect condition, was shipped to these people in my original box complete with all parts that come with the phone originally. They gave me a website value of $196. When their 'inspectors' looked at my phone they said it had some small scratches and was worth only $119. My wife's 3G which was also sent in the original box with all parts and accessories which we had been told had a value of $45. they told us was only worth $10! They claim they pay for shipping with UPS or USPS. The shipping they pay for with UPS takes a full 7 days. The shipping they pay to get you their shipping container took 2 days. As well they're shipping container and packaging materials was nothing but an empty cardboard box that they recommend you just put you phone into and pack with old newspapers! We shipped them in their original Apple Boxes placed into their 'cardboard box' and then put foam around all sides of the interior of their box. Do not trust these people...they are scam artists! I told them to send our phones back in the same condition and packaged the same way they were sent. They said it would take 7 days UPS to get them back. That is a total of 16 business days where we could have traded them into Verizon for a little bit less than their estimate. We are nervously waiting to see if we get the phones back in the same condition they were sent in.

This company is a huge scam and avoid them at all costs! I was quotes $200 for a practically new iphone 4, which had no damage and no wear and tear being it was hardly used. When they received my phone, I got the famous "lets make a deal" phone call from one of their scammer employees who offered me $75. I told them they are crazy and to send me my phone back. They insisted I wouldn't be able to sell it for anything more than the $75 they are offering. I finally received the phone back from them almost 3 weeks later, put it on ebay, and sold it literally within 20 seconds for $275. This company plays nothing but games, their employees are rude, and this company is a scam. I already reported them to the BBB. They have a C rating right now, but the more complaints they get on the BBB the lower their grade will be.
