Care.com - Service

March 3, 2021

While corresponding with a potential client, Barbara, we mutually agreed to select a time to write. In my message to Barbara, I'm willing gave her my phone number to text if she liked. I went back to see her message to me and discovered that my phone number had been x'd out by care.com! Barbara message to me. I can't call. Your # is x'd out. Then I was locked out of my 10yr account for at least an hour. An hour later. I got back in. Barbara wrote that she had hired another person - she couldn't reach me. I lost the opportunity to interview with Barbara. Potentially costing me a job! Complained to care.com - they sent me nice email. Suggesting I boot, delete my cache/cookies, change browser, etc. Note: my computer is fine. No other problems except with care.com. I believe, that I was and still am, today, 3days later, being intentionally locked out, because I dared to give out my phone number! (which has never been against the rules)!

If this is true. How dare they edit my message to a potential client! How dare they read my private messages! I would like my account unlocked. Or whatever. As the problem lies with care.com and or their software. I would also like some acknowledgement, explanation as to what is going on please.

Thank you for your help...

P.S. I am trying to make a living... And they, I feel, are interfering in my "rice bowl." I have little income and so this work helps a lot

Desired outcome: My account restored, for sure. An admission? An apology?

Care.com - no service received, took my money and canceled my account without cause or explanation

I see I'm not the only one. I joined as a free member in November 2018 and wasn't ready to hire anyone at that time. As soon as I joined as a paid "premium" member and needed to find a caregiver, they took my money and then closed my account without notice or cause. There was nothing done wrong on my part, no wrong information given, no abuse of service, no personal exchanges with people registered for employment on their site, nothing. Now I can't even stop the recurring charge on my credit card unless I cancel the card - which I will do as soon as my dispute is resolved.

Care.com - don't give your credit card or name or you will be charged regardless!

I was checking out the Care.com site to see if it was something I would be interested in to find a pet sitter. They required my name & credit card info in order to browse the site. They put a 4 minute timer on the page so I thought that meant I had four minutes to check out the site. Apparently giving them my name & credit card info constituted signing up, my mistake. I saw they charged my credit card. I never completed my profile, never posted a job, never contacted a caregiver. I contacted them via email (the only way to reach them) within 2 hours to cancel the "service" & be issued a refund. I went in & totally removed as much information as the system would allow, but of course they still kept my credit card info. I received a robo reply saying essentially "sorry you were unhappy with our service & your credit card will not be charged next month." I'm sure I'll have to fight with them in a month, but I'll deal with that later. I emailed them back & said the robo reply didn't address my concern & request for a refund for a service I never received but they didn't reply. I informed them I was going to dispute the transaction if they didn't credit my card. I spoke with my bank (Bank of America) & they essentially said too bad, there was nothing they could do because I had signed up for the service. Lesson learned, but I wanted to share my experience & warning with those considering signing up for Care.com. DON'T!

Care.com - beware of 30 day membership offering

I signed up for 30 day membership. Unfortunately they keep on billing you. Their website is difficult to understand, I never saw a warning that after 30 days they would switch me to a standard membership and keep on billing. I tried canceling and it was not straight forward, They are very good at misleading language. On top of it, I did not find a care giver. The ones I contacted made, either never replied back or broke appointments. I filed a complaint to my credit card company to get them removed as an approved vendor on my card.

Care.com - not getting paid

Make sure you are in their payroll system before taking on an assignment ! If not you will not get paid and they will remove you from "client" paid jobs. I understand it's important to fill job requirements but this company does not respond back to you when you have not been paid for over a month. They pay every two weeks and I have recruiters to vouch that I am bejng a pain calling to resolve my issue. Their catch phrase is to "reach out" but when you call the payroll department you get a recruiter. If a recruiter "slips up" the payroll persons name, good luck reaching them! You will be told EVERY SINGLE TIME, they just left for a meeting. I sent an email to my supervisor and her reply was "I can either get you some additional help with Workday or we can make you inactive until you are ready to work with us again". I am available to work but rather than give me a direct payroll name she "can inactivate me until I am ready to work"

Rather than give me a payroll person name to resolve my payroll set up issue they will inactivate me!
Note: I've been fighting this issue for over a month now!
