Capital Meats expense & quality

A salesman from Capital Meats showed up at our door, and we made the mistake of buying from them. We discovered after they left that we had paid over $9 a pound for the meat which was far too much. We also have not been happy with the quality. The burgers that were supposed to be lean were extremely fatty. I had to drain the grease from them while making them. The steak ended up being half the size when we grilled them. This was so totally contrary to what the salesman claimed. I will never buy from them again.

I might add that when I called the salesman to complain about the product, he promised to come the next week and exchange the burgers for anything else I want that they have. He never came and that was three weeks ago.

These folks keep stopping by and knocking on our door trying to sell us meat and seafood from their trucks.
This seems so SHADY and not at all sanitary.

My husband and I tried a meat package from capital meats a couple weeks ago. we like everything we tried so far.. I usually don't purchase from door to door salesman but after looking at all the food we were impressed with its appearance and decided to try it all out. we are very happy with almost everything. we didn't like their lime cilantro chicken flavor but since our salesman told us to call him if we didn't like anything we should call him, we did expecting nothing, but to our surprise and delight he came over the next day and replaced the box with our favorite teriaki which is amazing by the way. this food has changed the way we make dinner, it's way easier now and the meat is great! I know most of you are here to just complain, but we love it. capital meats your welcome anytime

Capital Meats terrible food

We paid $548 for the steaks, ground beef, filet mignon, etc. The first meal cooked on the grill was NY strip steak. The taste was not anything that I had ever tasted before. It was not "beef" related. We tried the filet mignon and it was worse. The cats would not even eat it. I sent an email to the company and they called and asked if we wanted to exchange for something different. We were not sure that we should even try the chicken or seafood so they said they would send a rep. He can and visited and the meats were in the same freezer that the rep loaded for us when we purchased the meat. The rep argued that it looked like more than 4 pieces were missing. He did not take them out and count either. He said he would come back and we never heard from anyone. Well, the storm came and we lost power for 3 days and we have a $1000 deductible so the meat went to the dump. Never purchase from this company again.

Capital Meats sales tactics

I was in my garage this afternoon, unpacking my new chest freezer, with the garage door up, when a truck pulled up, and two men walked into my garage and said they'd be happy to help me set up my freezer. When I asked them who they were, they handed me a brochure, and said they were with Capital Meats. After what sounded like a bogus story of how a customer nearby didn't have enough money in her checking account, to pay for her order, the salesmen said that they were now saddled with a mountain of meat, which they were now selling at rock bottom prices. The salesmen were trying to sell me 88 steaks, whereas I told them that I didn't need 88 steaks. I called one of my neighbors over, thinking that she might be interested, but she told them that she wasn't interested either. One of the salemen snatched the company's brochure that he had given me, out of my hand, and told his partner, that they didn't need to put up with these stupid people (my neighbor and I). Both men were carrying the boxes of meat which they had laid out on display for us, back to their truck, all the while, calling us names, loud enough for us to hear. My neighbor and I were left standing there, with our jaws open, in sheer disbelief. Never in my life have I ever experienced such behavior- honestly. A bit after this happened, my neighbor's husband called and told her he'd found 77 customer complaints about Capital Meats online. I read through some of the complaints, and they mirror what we experienced here today. The company is closed over the weekend, but I will certainly be calling them first thing Monday morning. That, and I've also posted my experience on the company's Face Book page. This is simply unbelievable!

Although a lot of salesmen and wemon in the meat industry are pushy, annoying, and disrespectful and carry below average quality meat. All meat distributors with Capitol Meats and other companies alike aren't the same. I work in the same area, carry an excellent product, stand behind my guarantee and try to leave my customers happy so they will continue to buy from me and get good reliable service. If someone tells me they aren't interested, I reply, god bless you and have a nice day and respectfully leave. Please don't judge all other companies by your bad experience with Capitol.

Capital Meats pushy salesmen

Two guys in a Capital Meats van pull up and my wife allows them to come in on false pretenses while I'm napping on the sofa. I wake to two strangers carrying 6 cases of food through the living room to our kitchen counter. They wanted to sell us 6 cases of our choice of beef, pork, chicken or seafood for $836. During their spiel, I grabbed my iPad and began googling the company right in front of them, at which time the one man became snippy stopping in mid sentence with a smart ### tone asking what I've found, quickly asserting that you can find anything you want on the Internet...downplaying negative reviews, as if I had never been online before (I work in IT, a large portion of my life is built around being online and googling). I expressed my concerns about buying so much meat at once without ever having tasted it, so he asked if he could broil a steak right on the spot, which we allowed. The meat was just OK, not the premium quality that they were claiming it to be. I expressed other concerns, but they both began to get upset, actually accusing me of getting upset, which I kept assuring them I was not, that I just had these questions. Clearly they didn't like my barrage of questions, and I'll be the first to admit I had a lot of questions...but hey, strangers show up unannounced wanting to sell me $876 of flash frozen meat out of the back of a van...I've got a lot of questions and concerns...and the google results I was finding weren't helping their case! So in the end my wife and politely declined to purchase, at which point as they packing up their cases of meat our kitchen they continuously kept making condescending remarks, as if that was going to somehow change our minds. Those last 5 minutes as they were packing up were quite possibly the most awkward 5 minutes I've had in an in-home sales pitch ever, and I've welcomed plenty through our doors to make a pitch, whether it be for kitchen makeovers, energy savings consultants, window replacements, etc. I would highly recommend not to even allow these clowns inside your house based on my experience plus the other reviews I've since read about. But the choice is ultimately yours, just BEWARE.

I had a great experience. Polite older gentleman. He answered all my questions (even the hard ones about what I read about them). Look, I got a great deal on a lot of meat. I started with a case of meat and chicken...paid $318.00. To me, that was less than $3.00 or so a piece (chicken was about the same I'd pay for in store and beef was MUCH less). The Pro...all individually wrapped so it is easier to prepare meals...and most chicken was already seasoned/marinated). You Cant judge everyone based on 1 person.

Everyone in the meat sales industry, Capital and other companies alike aren't the same, and all use different approaches. As for the price, you were offered a good deal for that amount of meat. People need to take in consideration that this is our job, how we pay our bills and feed our familys just like any other. Don't judge the company or other companies from the experience you had with one person.

Capital Meats frightened children

For the third time that I know of, a man in a truck came down my family's "no outlet" cul de sac neighborhood of only 13 houses and attempted to enter an open garage door. The first time this happened, my 7 yr old grandson was completely traumatized; to this day he insists on dounble checking that the doors and windows are locked whenever one of the family goes in or out of the house or garage; he also asks that we accompany him on his own front lawn/driveway to play. His fear is naturally tramsmitted to his 3 yr old brother and shared by his 10 year old sister. That 10 yr old girl, while riding her bike in the driveway today, ran into the house screaming that "some man is in the driveway"! Luckily my husband, their grandfather was here and told the guy in no uncertain terms to stay away from this house, this street and this neighborhood. My daughter in law dealt with these people before, to no avail apparently. This time they had a pr0fessionally painted panel truck, but it was the same pushy, unwanted sales pitch. We know at least two other neighbors who have had the same prioblem with this company. Keep them away from your neighborhood and your children.

Capital Meats horrible!

Capital meats, where do i start? We made the mistake of buying last year, horrible quality, i mean horrible. Today, i see a man, did'nt get his name, an endomorphic bald man working for capital meats, knocking door to door, trying to get my neighbors to buy. My neighbor, who takes care of his sick parents letting them live with him declines to buy meat. The endomorphic man, starts screaming at my neighbor insisting on talking to his sick parents to try and con them as well. Once again my neighbor declines respectfully, this guys is having a fit over this. I am sitting on my step three houses away, i am watching the whole thing! Then he starts cursing at my neighbor, f*&# this f$#@ that well that was it for me i said sir, stop harassing my neighbor. Then he begins to scream at me with rage (Personally i think this man was on cocaine) . My husband comes out and hears everything he was saying as soon as he seen my very tall husband ran to his truck and sped off. I tell you, you would have to be a fool to actually buy there meat. There are so many more places in baltimore to buy quality meat at a much better price.

I have an interview tomorrow I thought it was just driving.
Thankyou for the heads up before I wasted my gas to go see them. I found the add under a section that implied it was a regular job. Why do they have to trick people if its so good. I am sort of pissed but glad i googled them. They are leeches.

I have personally worked for Capital Meats and have been in the industry for 5 years. You don't pay for the product until you sell it, the truck charge is to cover insurance and vehicle maintenance. If you have a good product and are the qualified to do this kind of work, making money shouldn't be a problem. The price of meat is so outrageous in the grocery store you should be able to sell the product without gouging people and still make a decent living. I don't know where you applied at but it sound like your just making this up to put the company down. I currently don't work at Capital so this isn't a personal issue, just the truth.

I applied at capital meats as a driver from an ad on craigslist not knowing it was a door to door sales position. The interview was really just a sales pitch. I was told that employees have to pay $42.00 a day to rent the freezer truck, also have to pay for their own gas and have to outright pay up front for the product they will be trying to sell. What the employee doesnt sell is not refunded and a percentage of what they do sell is given to them as their earnings for that day. I personally dont see how someone can afford to pay hundreds of dollars a day just to work for a company and how that company can believe that many people would want to work for a company like that anyway.

I had one who would not get off my doorstep yesterday. I was home by myself, the guy was shady, physically large, and extremely aggressive. He became irate when I would not open the door and yelled at me. I told him he was trespassing. He continued yelling at me, telling me I should buy his meats. It was the craziest, worst experience. I had to tell him he had one minute to get out of my doorway (he actually kept his foot on the stoop the whole time) or I'd call 911. It was actually scary and disturbing.

Capital Meats Rip-off

I am a resident of Harrisonburg, VA. I was recently approached at my home by Monte Grandstaff from Capital Meats. He was very pushy and insistent that I let him in my house so that he could show me what a wonderful deal he had for me. He would not leave, so finally I let him in. Once inside, I realized that he smelled of alcohol and another scent that I thought may have been marijuana. He kept insisting that I make a purchase, he would not leave. Even though I felt that the price was extremely high, I finally bought so that he would leave. The next day I fixed some of the burgers on the grill. There was so much fat in them, that it caused a grease fire. I have tried to call Mr. Grandstaff several times to complain and he will not return my calls. Please, if this man knocks on your door, do not let him in.

Capital Meats soliciting

Sunday, December 26, 2010, I was sitting with my family when a load knock and numberous rings on the doorbell. When we opened the door a rough looking woman asked for our help. She said that she was made to come out door to door and sell a product. She was driving in a small truck with Capital Meats painted on the back. The truck had lots of color with Capital Meat logo on the side. She was very persistant and would not take NO for an answer. We were very polite to her but she continue to to say that she was very desperate and wouldn't normally do this expecially over the holiday. She said she would give us the meat at cost $140 if we could please help her out. She even said that she would take down all of our Christmas decorations if we bought this meat from her. She even said that she would come in and cook some meet for us. My husband was the one who answered the door and I never showed my face. I thought that was very odd. After he told her no for the fourth time she finally ran to her truck and speed out the driveway. I got up at looked out the front window and saw the vehicle speeding down our street and there was another guy in the vehicle with her.

I just interacted with them for the first time. When I indicated I wasn't interested I was called a "fat ###" and told to get "my fat ### back in my raggedy ### house." That's some high quality sales people Capital Meat has got. This happened in Chapel Hill, NC.

Capital Meats pushy salesmen and bad products

The sales tactics were pushy but in the end it did work because i purchased steaks, chicken and seafood from this company. The quality of the meat is less than satisfactory. Does it satisfy your "meat" craving - maybe, but you're much better off purchasing at your local grocery stores (Giant, safeway, etc) . The steaks look good in the packages but one you thaw them they are so thin (The ny strip / tbone) that a minute on the grill seems to cook them through. The only thing that was decent was the bag of uncooked shrimp. The chicken was ok but very small portions once thawed.
Tried the company - didn't like it and won't ever buy again. Have told all our friends too because they were also "hit" up by these sales guys too. The sales guy was nice so no problem with him but the food just wasn't good.

I admit I was a fool to make the purchase, but this company is very dishonest and has failed to credit my account for product they took back.

After charging over $300 on my credit card for what I foolishly had been persuaded was a reasonable deal on meat, I figured out that I had spent nearly $10 per pound. I called the salesman the same day and told him I wanted him to come back and get the product and credit my account. He directed me to go through the red tape of sending a certified letter requesting the refund. I followed all the directions as indicated on the company's brochure that he left with me. It took a couple of weeks for him to return to pick up the meat. He claimed he submitted the paperwork the same day to the corporate office and reassured me that in his ten years of working for the company he never knew of them not to credit someone's account for returned product.

I have called numerous times to the number on the brochure since the meat was picked up, and I have left detailed messages requesting my account to be credited. Now, nearly two months later, I still have not been credited. Since I consider this to be theft of my money, I have reported it to the Maryland Attorney General and am hoping that office will get my account credited.

Capital Meats bad food, bad sales man

My husband and I are still trying to get our money back from the company. Salesman "Jay" is full of lies and excuses. Never ever going to make this mistake again. So far the lady at the office I am working with is not too difficult to work with. The food is making our family sick and its awful in general. Nausea and diareah are what your buying here. They claim something must be wrong iwth the meat. "jay" said that I was not hte first to complain about the food he delivered that day so I'm sure its not a one time thing. After all I have read online I feel like I really let my husband down by even letting the guy come in our house. Hoping everyone is able to get past their bad experiances. Praying no one else gets sick. Lesson, buy your food where you can take it back if its not good!

I feel that I was scammed by Capital City Meats. I was getting gas when I was approached by a guy and ask me if I was interested in buying some meat. I asked what you got. He took me to a truck that looked pretty nice and had Capital City Meats all over it. he showed me some steaks, and they looked pretty good. He said that he would give me a case for $169.00. I did some quick math and figured it was a decent deal for 25 lbs of steak. So I took my case and went home proud of the deal I had just got. Well I couldn’t be more wrong! I thawed a couple of NY strips. When thawed and out of the package the steaks were about ½ inch thick about half of what they looked like in the package. I fired up the grill and tossed them on anyway. Me and my wife sat down to enjoy my recent purchase. To my dismay the best part of the steak was the fat. I would never eat another piece of the meat. They should change there name to Capital [censored] meats.

My husband and I had purchased meat from Omaha steaks, which is absolutely WONDERFUL meat! One afternoon, a Capital Meats van came by and they began to show me what they had available. I bought an entire "package" which included filets, T-bones, and three different types of marinated chicken breasts. This is the WORST MEAT WE HAVE EVER EATEN! It's so tough, one can barely chew the stuff! We've tried marinating it for long periods of time and that still didn't work! The chicken is ok, but you can get chicken at a great price most anywhere! I'm certain this meat is more than likely from really OLD cattle! I could chew the sole of a shoe better than their meat! DO NOT BUY anything from this company!

Capital Meats selling practices

The Maryland/DC Better Business Bureau rates this company as an "F".

A salesman from Capital Meats approached me in my driveway with a hard sell on the meats. I politely declined numerous times. As he returned to his truck he yelled an insulting remark, to the other person in the truck "You were right about the people in this neighborhood", then got into the van and sped off at a very high rate of speed up our residential street. What type of professional salesman insults his potential customers? It would not matter how good the meat was, I would not buy from this company and will make sure everyone I know is aware of this.

Capital Meats overdrawn checking account 2x

Do not buy from Capital Meats. I was always leery about this company but lesson learned. They pulled up and rang my doorbell and went through the sell presentation very quickly. The price started pretty high and I was able to negotiate for a pretty good price. I really had no intention of buying that day because I didn't get paid until that friday. He told me that I could write a post dated check and that they wouldn't submit it until friday. Stupid me! They deposited that check the next day and cause my account to go into a negative balance and 4 returned checks. I called the guys who sold me the meat and they said that they would take care of it. NOT! Capital Meats resubmitted the check the next month without notifying me and putting my checking account in the negative again and charged me $50 for a returned check fee. I called the company and their only response was what do you want from us? She told me that post dated checks are illegal anyway. Hell, I know that, so why do you tell customers to write them. I have paid for this meat 3x with the overdraft fees. I am going to write the BBB about these people and forward a copy to our HOA to see if we can keep these scammers out of our neighborhood. If you live in Fredericksburg, VA and live in the Salem Fields community, please beware.

Capital Meats failed to honor warranty

A saleseman repersenting Capital Meats, Inc came to my home during the day and aggressivly peddled a large case of steak, indicating that the 20 lbs of various cuts of beef normally sold for nearly 400 dollars. Inspite of the fact that my wife asked him to come back later he continued to pitch her the product and my wife relented and purchased the 20 lbs of beef for $140 just to see him away from our rural home .The salesman left no information about the companies product warranty, we had to find this online. I looked up the company on the internet and called their main office, their Baltimore office, and the salesman himself asking to return the product. They all declined to respond to my request . I wrote and mailed a certified requect to the companies mailing address the very next day after the sale requesting that the product be returned. The company has failed to respond.
In checking with our county seat, Capital Meats, Inc is not liscenced to sell its products door to door in Frederick County, Maryland. Their meats are over priced for the cut that they are selling, and there is no origin enclosed in the packing information. Given their unresponsiveness I suggest closing your door hard and calling the police if you see anybody with a pick-up and a cooler selling these products in your comunitty.

Capital Meats poor quality meats/broken promises

I have bought 3 times from the salesman from this company. The last two purchases were of good quality and the sales rep was rough but always promised to please. This last purchase, the meat looked fantastic, but the meat has no taste and we cannot eat it. We contacted Capital Meats and the sales rep has been calling with excuses as to why he has not been out to take care of the situation. My next stop is the Attorney Generals Office of Maryland. I will also be leafletting my neighborhood to tell them about my experience and to save them from these thieves. Do not buy from James Endres, the salesman, or listen to his lies! Do not buy meat from men with freezers strapped to their pick up trucks.

Do not buy from this company! Call the police if they come to your door!

Capital Meats is out of Stephens City VA. I thought that complaint needed my address. I wanted you all to know which area they were coming to regularly. Unfortunately, this displayed as my address. I will try to have this fixed with the web masters to have my address removed. So sorry for the misunderstanding.

I got had by one of these "salesmen" also. I was putting together a fishing rod for my son and I to go fishing and someone knocked on the door so my son opened it up and he had time me he was selling me and had another guy that seemed like he was being trained being in a box of steak and chicken he showed me it and told me he would sell me the steak and the chicken was free. I taken aback by the fact this man was selling meat out of a truck and offering a free case so I was like no, I'm a single father and don't have that much money. He then told me he should sign me up for the military discount and it would be 300 for both cases instead of the. So then he was like instead of a free box of chicken I'll give you two of steak. I thought about it for alittle while he talked me into it so I gave in. He then told me he would load the freezer for me and needless to say, meats not all there and I feel like an idiot. I got 6 steak burgers when the website says you get 12 in each case. I'm not gonna even bother counting the rest. I sent an email to the company telling them about this so hopefully some good comes out of it. On a bright note though my son was excited to when I pulled all that steak out to count it

Charles Dodson also tried to rip us off by dumping 3/4 of the meat we said we'd buy into a large box saying they recycled the cardboard from the boxes. He claimed it was an "honest mistake" when I called him on it. From the reviews I've found online he makes this "honest mistake" with every customer he sells to just to see if it will stick.

The salesmen were extremely pushy and I would almost say they would't leave until you either slammed the door in their face or bought something. They were very smooth operators I warn you. They keep lowering the price "just for you" every time you said no until they make you feel like you are being given such a bargain you can't refuse. We decided to try the fish and pork along with the steaks this time. Incidentally, why we ever bought anything additional from them is beyond me because all we usually end up eating is the hamburger. The steaks are absolutely tasteless. No taste at all. This time we bought pork chops that were suppose to be thick and wrapped in bacon, You might call them thick; they were about the size of my pinky finger, however, and they weren't wrapped in bacon as far as I could tell they were wrapped in thick slabs of FAT. Just fat. We also got the flounder fillets and they were so small you had to pick out five for one person's dinner. The chicken honey dijon filets were very small and there weren't many in the box and they came with no directions as to how long to cook or at what temperature. They just instructed you to cook thoroughly to 160 degrees. When we opened all of the boxes they were packed with a very skimpy amount of the product.. We totally were ripped off and feel like complete idiots.

Everyone has an opinion. In my opinion I think they do a good job. I had a problem one time. I called and discussed it with a manager who even refunded my money. I have not had any issues since. I pick what I want in my packages, they deliver, stock my freezer, place the items in zip lock bags, sort the meat by category i.e. steak, chicken. The gentleman that puts my packages together is Jerome. He is professional in appearance and in the way his does business. My husband and I always commend him and the guys that he brings with him on a job well done. We have been buying from them for more than a year now and are completely satisfied. So if the company sucks than this one employee makes a helluva difference. I have dealt with other companies that are similar, but none with the customer services skills that this guy has. As for the quality of the meat and other products, I have no complaints ther either. If a buy a product that I am not satisfied with, just like any other decent retailer I call and either exchange or get a refund with no problem. So again I must say everyone has their opinion, I just gave you mines.

P.S. None of the people that I have referred them to have any complaints either.

i use to work for capital meats. one thing i have to say is that its not the salesman who are to blame were just doing are jobs. we don't force anyone to buy the food thats up to the home owners. i have heard both sides that the food is good and that it sucks. kind of like some people like walmart streak and others don't. its not us that are getting you guys its yourselfs. honestly though the company does suck i don't like there food i wont buy it either. the company is set up for there employees to take all the risk. if we get in trouble with the law for soliciting they dont help us. everything is on us. its 100 percent commission. we pay for the truck charge trucks are 28 dollars and vans are 42 a day to drive. some trucks dont have heat air conditioning. lights dont work and if we get pulled over half the time the registration isnt in the truck we get tickets because we pay to take these peice of [censor] trucks out and were stuck with the tickets. half the people that work for the company are drug addicts. its all under the table work also. we get the case of steaks for 110 dollars same with seafood and pork the chicken is 106. they front us the meat if we sell it we owe the company for the case. notice on the brosure the case of steaks go out for 438 dollars but we pay 110 for it so the difference is are money so if we give the customer two case one being steaks and another being chicken for the price of the steaks (438) we owe capital meats 216 dollars back we make the difference (218 dollars). thats how they make there living. the company doesnt give a [censor] about the employees why would they care about the customers and the guys saying he ate the food for 13 years is lying if he did he never had a good steak. 13 years ago they carried steaks that were glued together with edible glue. there is alot more to it than this also i could go on and on about this company. one thing its not is a scam becuase your getting what you want just not what you thought you wanted. its totally up to the customer to by the food.

The food is really good actually. I have been eating these products for at least 13 years now. My children eat it and so do my friends and family.
These complaints seem to be a little crazy and blown out of proportion. There is a customer service hotline you can call to reorder or to have a problem solved and there is no problem getting an answer. Their website is another good way to reach them. You should try it sometime. Research the company and you will see they do a lot in their communities to help raise money for different foundations. They Put together an event called the tunnel run in Baltimore Md. to raise money for the special olympics last year. It was a big event that closed down the balt inner harbor tunnel and cooked free food to get the people there. It was a huge event. We were invited but could not go. They also helped raise money for children with autism. They are on 98 rock once in a while on the morning show giving things away. The morning show DJ has been buying the food for years. They give food to homeless shelters. They give food to needy children. They give food to animal rescue centers all over the place. They give food and cook for homeless shelters every year.
The companies food is endorsed by the Redskins and several major athletes that have reputations to uphold. They sponsor Ryan Scooter Jones who won two national championships on his race bike last year and he list goes on and on. Thats just what I know of from last year. Check it out for yourself.

Eric Dyson of Capital Meats came to my street in Alexandria, VA in a truck with Maryland plates with a hard sell. He was accompanied by another guy. I bought some stuff, unwisely, to make them go away. I would not let them in my home. I have only tried the scallops - they are not good. I wrote a check, which I stopped payment on, and Eric Dyson came BACK TO MY HOUSE! I reported this to the police today. DO NOT BUY FROM CAPITAL MEATS! Alert your neighbors and call your local police if you ever see a Capital Meats truck anywhere in your town. Call your state attorney general as well. These guys likely operate without licenses and without food safety permits.

I totally agree about the misrepresentation of Capital Meats. We were outside enjoying a summer day for the Labor Day weekend, when a van pulled up in our driveway. Two men got out & asked my husband & son if they wanted to buy some meat. The driver was Charles Dodson & he went on & on even though we all said no. My husband called him the OxiClean guy & Sham Wow right to his face. They kept asking to come inside, told them it was just fine outside, since that was where we were when they pulled up. Our driveway is hard to notice with all of the fields & trees around us. Just to get them away from us, we ended up buying some meat, biggest mistake we could have made! When they left, we noticed they had not given us all of what was promised for our price. We called the State Police, they came, hunted them down. They brought the driver back to our house, told us to give the meats back to the driver & that our money would be refunded by that Tuesday since it was a holiday weekend. Well, we have no meats, no money back into our account either!
Please DO NOT buy from these people, they RIP YOU OFF!
After numerous times calling their offices around the country, we have gotten no response from them.
Their website is CapitalMeats.com & you can get all of their corporate & branch office addresses & phone numbers.
We live in rural Delaware by the beaches, but in the countryside.

Capital Meats don't buy from this company!

A salesman from Capital Meats has come to my door at least half of a dozen times since I have lived in this house (almost 3 years). The first time, they caught me coming in from my car and stopped me. The men were in very baggy pants (enough that I could see their underwear) and they had gotten out of an old pick up truck with a freezer strapped to the back. I saw their car magnet that said Capital Meats and I stopped them and told them that we were vegetarians and not interested in meat. That should have been enough to get them to leave, but they followed me to my door anyway and proceeded to hard sell me this meat.

There is no way I would even buy meat from that shady looking pick-up truck- even if I did eat meat. The men proceeded to lay meat all over my porch (ew!) and then he even tried to come in my house (even put his hand on the door and tried to open it) so he could see what kind of freezer I had. I eventually shut the door and locked it. Since that time, they have come back several times.

I no longer answer the door (although once my husband did and he says they were rude to him when he declined their product). When I don't answer the door, they stand out there knocking and ringing for a very long time! It is borderline harassment! They don't have any business knocking on my door anyway, because I have a large NO SOLICITING sign. I wouldn't mind if they rang once (even though I already told them we will never want their product) and left, but they RING and RING and RING! I have a sleeping baby, barking dogs, it is such a disruption!

I called their Baltimore office (where these salesman are from) to make a formal complaint. The lady who answered said she was the office manager. She wanted my address but I was hesitant to give it to her because I feared backlash from the shady looking 'salesman.' I asked her to at least enforce a ring-once policy but she said she couldn't do that due to hard of hearing elderly people (who they should leave alone anyway!). So I asked about a policy of not ringing the bell of people who had a No Soliciting sign and she said she could not enforce that either because those signs are mostly for religious people.

What? My sign is to deter annoying, relentless salesman! I told her if they stood outside of my door ringing and ringing again, that I would call the cops. She proceeded to just talk over me, telling me she wouldn't let me speak bad about a great company (Everyone on my street hates to see that nasty truck pull up!) that she has worked for for 6 years and she told me I must have a miserable life and hung up on me. So much for making a formal complaint. I wasn't even rude to her, as I know *she* was not the one knocking on my door, but she must have been very upset that I did not want them to come to my door and that I wouldn't give her my address.

If this is such a great company, then the least they could do is update their POS trucks with coolers strapped to the back to nicer looking freezer vans/trucks that look like they actually keep the meat cold! And they could enforce some sort of dress code to the salesman so they look less like bums and more like professionals. And lastly, don't be so rude and pushy and don't harass people! Many of my neighbors have told me that the salesman are rude if you say no. The neighbors who did buy their meat, regretted it as they were flavorless, tough, cheap cuts of meat.

Don't buy from this company!

We brought from them before, yes very pushy lucky my husband 6'3 chilled them out cause i wanted them to go, the meat and seafood that we did get was vacuum sealed and good. We live in a HOA community so it's very very quit on my street.

Weird part: 2 guys that came in stated yelling at each other after we closed and locked the door. Yelling about how lazy the 1st guy is, and it was the firest time he helped all day. After they left they went to a back parking lot and got out and started full on fighting. We can see everything from our back door. They seen us watching they yelled they watching yall pointed, waved at us like it was ok, and got in the truck, haven't seen them since.

Never seen anything like this before. Crazy situation

I bought eight sirloin steaks from Capital Meats this morning, and I paid $30. Later, when I looked at the box, I realized that I had paid $30 for 2.5 pounds of frozen meat. Giant Eagle and other supermarkets are selling sirloin for $8.99 a pound. So I paid $30 for a product I would have paid $22.50 for at Giant Eagle. I pretty much paid the money just to get the salesmen out of the entrance to my house. My advice: Just politely say you're not interested and shut the door.

My 92 year old Aunt with dementia has has been taken by these scam artists 3 times, for the total of $4500. My brother has filed fraud charges and is seeing a sheriff about them to file a restraining order to help get this stopped. These people are nothing short of thieves!

They are almost all drug addicts and convicted felons that cannot get a job anywhere else. They work on sort of a commission so they are super pushy. They want that next high. Which also explains the appearance because they don't care about anything else but getting thst sale to get their dope. They also trade meat for drugs and foodstamps. Do not let these people in your home. My uncle bought from one guy and when the guysoney didn't match sales he went to my uncle's home into the garage and took the meat to put back into inventory. The same guy stole out of my wallet when I was out of the room.

I live on a private road and soliciting of any kind is not allowed (there is a sign at the end of our road too). These guys have come on our property trying to sell us their garbage at least 4 times in the past year since we have lived here. Every time we explain to them we are not interested and they are not allowed to solicit as this is a private road. Yet they still keep coming. Next time I will answer the door with my husband's gun. Maybe then they'll get the message.

I have a no solicitor sign on my front door. The last three weeks a salesman from Capital meats comes up and knocks on my door and continues until someone comes to door and when I ask if they can read they start the same sales pitch that they have extra meat and can make me a good deal. I tell them again about the sign and that still doesn't work. Had to tell them to get off my property. Tried calling company and they were just as bad.
