Canadian Tire - auto service department

Last Thursday July 4, 2017 I was in to get my winter tires changed over to my summer tires. They gave me a list of things that needed to be fixed on my car: fuel/steering lines were corroded, 2 clamps on exhaust pipe needed to be replaced and a wheel alignment was recommended. Phoned to make an appointment for today last Friday and was quoted over the phone $219.

Today I was there for my 9:00 am appt. they didn't start on my car till 9:30 am, then they came to tell me that it was going to cost me over $500. and it would take 2 and a half hours because they had to wait for the fuel line to come in, they had to make the hangers for the exhaust line (it wasn't clamps and my car is a 2 wheel drive not a 4 wheel drive. They also wanted to replace the rear springs and said my shocks are leaking. I refused the wheel alignment and getting the springs and shocks done. This was suppose to be a $219. job and now it cost me $576.73 without the tax. The mechanic spent half an hour talking to other mechanics and the counter person and took a 15 min. break. When I bring my car to Canadian Tire I expect the mechanic to work on my car. I am not paying him to talk or have a break when I am paying per hour. I think I should get compensated for his time not working on my car and for the parts not being there when I called Friday morning and they had all day Friday and the weekend to get the parts. I was there for 9:00 and didn't get out of there till 12:30 pm. Ridiculous time wasted on what should have been an 1 - 1 1/2 hour job.

Canadian Tire - poor service

My car was diagnosed with a bad slave cylinder for the clutch. After Agreeing to the quote I was told it would be ready later in the afternoon. I called at 2:45 and was told it woulfd be another hour. I called back at 3:45 and the car was not ready. The service advisor as well as the mechanic already had left for the day. I was not happy as I had to already missed a day of work, not there fault, but now I was going to be late the next day.

I picked my car up the next afternoon, drove it around the corner to Walmart and noticed the clutch was spongy and soft. Also my radio was on lock. I took the car back and was told to leave it until the next morning which I could not do. I also mentioned the radio and asked why they had to disconnect the battery to change the clutch. They said it was standard practice to disconnect the battery for any job? Where they afraid the car was going to start itself? Now I have to drive around with a soft clutch until I get the time to go back and spend $50 ###ing dollars or more to get the radio code.
