We purchased a home with Caliber Homes I have to disagree with (buider ma's) post. My husband and I have had a positive experience so far although there has been a few cliches however Caliber Homes team have been very pro active in solving deficiencies in a timely fasthion. We love our home and recommend Caliber Homes as a custom home builder.

We have to agree with the comments here and we haven't even moved in yet.

We purchased at Kleinburg Crown and it's been one headache after another. That being said, we have a feeling a lot of the builders are the same. My cousin purchased in our subdivision from Countrywide homes and she's been nothing but frustrated by the lack of attention, changing prices, hidden costs, etc. We've had our share of issues and we hope things will be better once we move in but it looks like its a hit and miss (mostly a miss)!

At the price point that many of these homes are at you'd expect better service but it is clearly not a purchase that you are in control of. At times, I feel like the builders are doing us a favour that we were even able to buy a home.

Good luck and wish us luck as we close later this year.

Hi there,
Some of the positive posts here are questionable and very suspicious. I guess the fact that this is a complaints board doesn't hold much meaning for some. I'm still going through the process with Caliber Homes and have had many issues along the way. I won't post again until the process is complete and my home is delivered in the interest of fairness. You ultimately have to give the builder and their selected intermediaries the benefit of the doubt. But you can be sure that if I am unhappy at the end of this process and if Caliber Homes fails to uphold their end of the contractual agreement or decides to proceed with parts of the process in an unfair manner I will not only post on this site but on various other forums and blogs. It seems that once the builder has your deposit the only recourse you have is to ensure that others don't fall into the same trap. Hopefully you won't be hearing from me again but my gut tells me you will.

Read one of the comments that the builder only lip promise and does not call back. That's not true. I think it's inappropriate to say that about someone due to some conflicts that u might have had with the representatives. It's not the builder. We had some issues but David always called us and fulfilled his promises. So far we are happy and will keep posting. Thanx

Hi everyone, we purchased a house at klienburg and I totally disagree with these negative comments about caliber. Caliber is not like any other builder in the norm industry, where clients r given only 2 to 3 appointments to make a decision to build their dream home. Caliber is more like custom made home, So if they take time and go back and forth with clients. This doesn't mean that they r not organized they just wanna make sure that their clients are happy with what they r getting. Any upgrade u wanna have can be done here but of course it requires money. I think this is the main problem here. Their upgrades are amazing but a lot of ppl can't afford as a result they get upset. we got some great upgrades with reasonable prices thanx to DAve the great, the younger brother who helped us a lot in achieving our dream home features. He's been really great and we r thankful to him. I hope anyone who is interested in purchasing a house from caliber can make a decision on their own; not going for these negative comments. U should give them a chance and trust me they will make u happy even if there r conflicts to deal with. This is the only builder who communicates with clients themselves not just their representative. Thank u dave the great for everything u have done for us. We love our home and we r happy dealing with u.

My wife and I have purchased from Caliber at the new development in Kleinburg. So far the builder and the representatives from Intercity Realty have been difficult to deal with and the experience has been less than seamless. There were problems from the get-go. We included some upgrades with the offer which were accepted by Caliber in the final agreement. The flooring line item that was an upgrade on the final agreement had a typo on the size of flooring plank. Once we noticed the typo we immediately contacted the sales agents to have these issues corrected to avoid headaches for both parties before closing. In taking this proactive approach as a home buyer it was surprising to see how Caliber is now trying to switch upgrades that were worked into the deal to something of a lesser standard. We also had a similar problem with interior doors that we upgraded "main and upper floor" which apparently doesn't mean all the doors in the home to Caliber. I'll continue to post about our experiences both negative and positive in hopes that Caliber realizes that when shelling out over a million bucks for a home there are high level expectations when it comes to customer satisfaction and delivering on commitments.

I'm looking to purchase a home in Kleinburg Crown. I have to be honest reading the negative reviews has raised some red flags. I wasn't so thrilled to read these very negative reviews, and as an outsider who has not made any investment thus far, I found it truly suspect that all of a sudden, since the opening of Kleinburg Crown, are there such glowing reviews. I think the best forum is to go to Tarion to make your complaints, that would seem to be the proper avenue to take. Having said that, Halisham Ave? Does not appear to have neighbours that are courteous to each other. Name calling, neighbours yelling at tradesman, others taking notice seems like a very dysfunctional community. I want to make an educated purchase, there are great lots to choose from but this name calling, bickering, claims of poor quality and service raise red flags. I certainly would not like to live on a street where neighbours are at odds. The bricks and houses will be here in 200 years, but peoples lives and businesses may forever be impacted by these message boards.

From the time of our first contact with the Caliber Homes team to the final 'sign-off' we were impressed with the top-notch service that we experienced throughout the build process. The quality and workmanship met and exceeded our high expectations. Being self-employed we know that everything can’t always go right, when any issues arose Caliber stepped up to the plate and fixed the problem in a timely manner both during the move-in process and after we had moved in. We Couldn't be more happy with our home. Thanks Caliber!

Simply distasteful and unwarranted complaints have been posted against this company. Quite frankly, there is not one shred of evidence or truth to any of the slanderous comments made against Caliber Homes. I have had the pleasure of having my 4th home built through them. I have worked closely with Fortunato concerning all aspects of construction and I am baffled at some of the opprobrious statements. This company has been simply professional from the point of sale to taking possession. I live on Old Ham. I had no problems whatsoever with the exception of some changes that I made to my bathroom vanities and a last minute change to my kitchen counter tops. Luckily they were very accommodating in ensuring that I received my desired product. One of the comments below makes reference to ‘Country Wide Homes’ being such a reputable/quality builder. Perhaps this party has neglected to do their homework because according to Homestars, the rating is 3.8/10 with 13 ratings. Country wide is also rated an F with the BBB because real people with real complaints file their concerns with a real agency that can actually help. Caliber Homes was not rated once in either of these sites. I urge the readers to look deeply at the content of these postings and question the need to remain anonymous. Why the need to post on sites like this if you have a legitimate complaint that is a breech of your purchase agreement? There are laws to protect consumers in this country and there are also laws to protect companies from people who make false defamatory comments like the ones that have been posted in this site. I truly hope that those people be prosecuted for the lack of disregard to the laws this country has established. What a shame it is for example like one of the postings that suggest that Caliber Homes will not allow a lawyer review the contents of the agreement? Really? I mean couldn’t you come up with something more plausible? Again, readers, please disregard these fabricated fictitious convictions and read about the companies’ success. The complainers have done nothing to escalate their complaints to a valid authority and you should consider this negativity as suspicious. PS To disappointedhomeowner. Have you ever considered that people utilize the internet as a means of gathering as much information as possible. Go to google. Type in Caliber Homes Reviews. This will be the first site that comes up. It was a failed attempt to suggest that the positive comments was a strategy to debunk the negative ones. The mockery comes only in those who CLAIM they have a valid complaint but hide behind made up display names. Seems like the Martinos, Figliomenis, Nanus, lot 53 in the Kortridge Estates who have shared their positive experience disclose these personal details. You may want to do the same if you want to be taken seriously.

wow @disappointedhomeowner. You sure have a lot to say to a computer! Most people on this website came out with a great home and it is unfortunate that your home isnt the best, and we the happy home owners are so very sorry for that. If you have problems or concerns go talk to someone who can help you because pouring your heart out on this website isnt helping you.

Also "the man down the street" who had "people shaking in their boots" got the job dint and got it done right. Could be possibly for you to have taking that road and MAYBE your home would have come out a tiny bit better. However you chose to complain on a complaint board. Doesn't seem to be working so well for you.

I love my Caliber home ! To whomever had problems its a new house, its going to happen. Learn how to deal with it not complain on websites and try to bring down a reputable company!

I strongly disagree with every one's complaints. I am a new homeowner from kortridge Estates in North Woodbridge, and would like say wholeheartedly, that in my many moves, Caliber Homes are by far more qualified in quality and creativity of homes. Their customer service has been excellent beginning with head office. They have listened and understood our needs and wants to building our new home. The experience I had with Caliber Homes from sales personnel, to the site super, ( Fortunato) and his tradespeople, were very professional and courteous. He has gone out of his way to notify us on recommending his professional opinion, something I never experienced in the past with past purchases. We have had the pleasure of meeting with the company's President, Danny DiMeo and his brother Dave DiMeo. I must agree with a previous comment made, they are truly diligent and hard working people on satisfying their present clients and future clients. We recommend Caliber Homes in the future to anyone who is interested in building a new luxury home . My family and I would like to thank everyone for making this experience positive and worry free.

It's nice to see positive comments about the builder but they are all rather suspect as they have been made on a complaint website. Due to the odd platform that our neighbours have chosen to add their positive comments, it would seem that they have been strategically added in the attempt to de-bunk the negative comments. Well, here's what I have to say about those comments. There is no doubt that Fortunato, Luciano, and Tony (Di Meo) are the stars of the Caliber on-site team. Unfortunately, they are not the "designated" contacts for service so the positivity and confidence ended there. We have no choice but to deal with Sarah who is disorganized and doesn’t seem very committed to making the home owners happy (or at least not us and a large number of others). In order for the Di Meo's (apart from Tony who is the owner's father that tirelessly works on the site) to be in contact with a home owner they would have had to escalate a serious issue because the management team certainly doesn't make house calls for just anyone. According to word on the street (yeah, people talk a lot), one of the people that wrote an inspiring comment on this website wasn't actually a happy camper at first. In fact, we heard that there was some serious yelling and flying off the handle from "the house at the end of the road" in order to get stuff done. It's crazy that it comes down to having to blow our tops for service but it seems to work as those folks are now 'happy' and writing their praise. But, that certainly wasn't the tone several months ago (I was told that the yelling had the workers shaking in their boots). That being said, it would seem to me that happy people in a sea of unhappiness is just odd (good for them but odd nonetheless). If you're one of the lucky ones that have received great service and a house that is in the condition that you would expect, good for you. If it's a "we scratched your back now you scratch ours" type of comment, good for you (if that works for you). Whatever the case may be, there are serious issues in this subdivision that should have been addressed a long time ago and clearly never will. And while it is clear that we will never receive a house call from Mr. Danny Di Meo himself (nor have the other folks complaining), we can only hope that our voices will be heard and the ridiculous deficiencies at our houses will be addressed with little begging so that we can all move on with our lives in this not-so-happy neighbourhood. Oh, and please don't forget that we are all neighbours with the same rights and expectations. We're glad for the small group of happy people on this website (assuming you really are happy) but please don't try to make a mockery of our valid concerns.

We also disagree with the complaints regarding Caliber Homes. My husband and I are homeowners in Woodbridge and purchased our home from Caliber, LOT 38 and are extremely satisfied with our home and the service provided from the builder. We moved in July 2012 and had a great experience dealing with Caliber Homes right from the start. We love our home, the design the quality and have no complaints about this builder at all, if anything they have gone above and beyond to meet our needs. There are always little things in every new home that need to fixed or addressed from the PDI, but we never had any problems getting any of these fixed in our home and the trades came to address our issues promptly. Caliber standards are above and beyond in quality from other builders standards and we would definitely recommend this builder to anyone. From the exterior, the Caliber homes have great curb appeal with a combination of brick, stucco and stone designs. Our total experience with Caliber has been a great one right from the time of purchase to after our closing and we are love our beautiful home. Caliber Homes is very family oriented and can tell they really take Pride in the homes they build and the whole construction process. From our family to the Caliber family it has been a pleasure and thank you for making this a great experience for us!

I would have to disagree as well! My husband and I moved in at the end of July, 2012, and I have to say Caliber has been nothing but great to us. Through the entire process, everyone from the trades such as Tony the Carpenter, to our fantastic service man, Luciano, Fortunato, the site super, to the owners (The Di Meo's), have been amazing. Sure, there are some things to be done, but for anyone who has built a new house, this is the norm. Nothing out of the ordinary, and when there is anything to be done, they take care of it in a timely fashion. Fortunato and his team went out of their way many times, to ensure we were happy. I never had to ask twice for anything, and never felt as though they didn't care. In fact, there were times, I needed help with stuff such as watering my lawn when we first got grass, and I wasn't home to do it.. Tony Di Meo watered my lawn for me... now... how awesome is that? It had nothing to do with him, wasn't in the contract, and definitely wasn't expected, but those are the types of people they are. Another instance, my garage door opener (not installed by Caliber) was acting up, Fortunato and Luciano stopped by after work and helped me figure it out. So.. service... I would say above and beyond their call of duty.
Our experience with Caliber has been great, they built us a beautiful home with our custom taste and made the experience a great one! I would definitely buy another Caliber home and would recommend it to anyone who asked!

I would also like to disagree with the comments, I purchased lot 53 in the Kortridge Estates site in Woodbridge and I was treated impeccably. Their customer service was prompt and I always spoke to someone right away. I would definitely recommend Caliber homes to anyone who is looking for a quality built home that is built by people who take pride into providing a custom fitted home that will make any family proud to live in.

I would have to disagree as well! My husband and I have been living in our home for a year now and are extremely happy with the quality and excellent workmanship put into our home. Over all our home turned out beautiful however some issues did require small repair (just as any other new home would) all the repairs were dealt with in a very Quick and professional manner. I would strongly recommend this builder to anyone who is interested in great quality and luxurious taste!

I strongly disagree with the posts above, my experience with Caliber homes was excellent. Naturally there will be issues in a brand new home being built however each and every concern or problem i had, were handled in a timely fashion. The customer service in my opinion is wonderful, the site super Fortunato ( Forge ) was a available any time i had a concern, and dealt with any concerns promptly. Sara the service coordinator, made sure that all issues were dealt with and all appointments for service or repair were met. Each time I phoned into the office my call was handled very professionally and my concerns were tended to accordingly. During the time of my home being constructed any problems i had were dealt with and handled with perfection. Caliber homes takes pride in their business and it is very obvious, by their attentiveness and close attention to fine details. From the day my home was being built to the closing and even concerns that i have had after my closing the service with caliber homes is exceptional and i would recommended them to anyone looking to have a home built with very tasteful architectural design. The Caliber family are very diligent and hard working people, with strong work ethic, and committed to satisfying their clients.

I wholeheartedly agree with both posters above. It's truly sad that the development here in Woodbridge is quite pricy, yet the service is so poor. We too are familiar with a handful of builders and by far this is the worst service. We own a beautiful home that has green tape everywhere because nothing has been fixed since the pdi. Countrywide offers many upgrades in the price of their home and are less expensive and they are farther ahead with homes that are not lived in yet compared to Caliber who has residents living in unfixed, poorly built homes. When you contact even the owner/builder, it's only lip service. Constuction of new homes seems to be a focus - buyers beware, because they will do the minimum to allow for occupancy and then you will not see anything done in your home. They've made some changes to the staff, but really haven't seen anything done. What's also dissappointing is when you have other private companies coming in to do work and they inform you or poor quality parts that should be replaced :(. Sad but true, we've already had some of the things Caliber is supposed to fix for us, fixed by a private company because we live here and can't bare to deal with some stuff staying unfixed as they focus on newer homes to be built.

Agree with comments cited. If you speak with any owner you will hear similar stories. The customer service department is one of the worst I have encountered, but that seems to be the standard with most builders in the area. Stories I have heard are all consistent...bad customer service, home construction incomplete and the work is to say the least, substandard for the price you pay. Experience has been, once you close there is no sense of urgency to get any repairs or work completed. Their sole focus is on completing the remaining homes at the expense of doing any work you had from PDI and 30 day list. There seems to be no thought or schedule behind completing any work such as painting front doors and garage doors of those who have closed...painting is done to homes which have yet to close. No work on curbs, driveways etc, Countrywide Homes who is building in the same area is well on their way to installing these items, including grass with many of those homes being constructed and closed well after Caliber. I would strongly suggest you avoid the Kleinberg site with Caliber, go with another builder and piece of mind. There is simply no reason for this disregard and attention towards customers.
