Bud Hibbs is a joke. They've spammed their snake oil on all kinds of credit help forums, claiming to provide resources to help debtors get off scott free without paying a cent of what they owe to creditors and collection agencies. Bud Hibbs posts these ridiculous articles on how people have beat creditors and although Bud Hibbs saturates their online literature calling Collection Agency lawyers bottom feeding ### - its like the pot calling the kettle black. Bud Hibbs is anything but "Consumer Justice" ... it's all a scam by a group of lawyers preying on debtors to get money out of them under the guise of "helping" them. The claims their website makes to desperate people won't work and never will work ... they simply want to take the last few dollars out of debtors' pockets and abandon them. Collection Agency lawyers may be bottom feeding ###, but Bud Hibbs is even lower than them! Advice: ignore Bud Hibbs and find a REAL credit counselor. All Bud Hibbs is going to do is get you in deeper trouble with creditors and collection agencies.

This is obviously written by one of the bottom feeding debt collectors. I have personally talked to Bud on the phone several times (he NEVER charged me) actually he encouraged me NOT to hire him because he felt I could do it on my own. Which I did. Cleared up my credit. Bud has literally saved lives. People who were suicidal over their financial situation, which he helped them out of. Sadly Bud passed away. Bottom line should you pay your bills, absolutely. But also never forget that when get a Credit card it's a "business" transaction. They charged you interest rates based on your risk. You made some bad business decisions with your personal finances, so you should make the most reasonable and best "business" decision to help your way out of the situation and improve your credit score. Paying a bottom feeding debt collector who bought your loan for pennies on the dollar is NOT in your best interest. .

LOL I have never delt myself with Bud however the useful information that use to be there and no longer is was very breath taking to me when My Ex Husband decided to stick me with a bill that was not mine yet some how since there was a marriage involved they wanted me to pay the whole bill from 9 years ago. Thanks to the Great info put out by Bud and the proper steps to take I indeed did send out my cease and desist letter to the collector with his general info page and what do you know they continued to call and harass from multiple phone numbers despite the letter that was signed for. So then I filed my complaint with the FTC and got my letter number and while not hiring Bud for anything went to a Free Attorney who then took on the claim with the information bud gave me and since the debt was not only not my debt but also past statutes of limitations my attorneys won the case for me and all because Budd Hibbs Taught me how to spend an entire $5.00 bill to have a signature and make a few calls I walked away with $1000.00 bill in the End. So If Budd Hibbs Sees this Post All I can Say is THANK YOU! For teaching the right way to do things when the Bottom Feeders Do the Wrong Thing and Big Thank You To My Free Lawyers for Serving Those Bottom Feeders That Need to know What the Dam Law Is and how it should be applied.

WARNING, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ACCESS OLD BUD HIBBS WEBSITE! At least some links have been mined with a really nasty virus! I clicked on an old link in a genuine E-mail and my computer was at once disabled by a virus. This link was the main one used by subscribers to log on and was quite legitimate when Mr. Hibbs was alive and his main site was active. Apparently someone came back after the wake and downloaded this crap in order to screw over anyone trying to check out the old site. Now, what kind of moral midget would be low and scummy enough to do a thing like that? Why am I even asking? Other links may also be infected, so be careful and report any problems you may have.

While it is sad that Mr. Hibbs has passed; he ultimately reaped what he sowed which involved despair, personal attacks on families of debt collectors, lying, stealing, bad mouthing, etc.

FYI, if bud owes you money, I can tell you that the property they own receives a mineral rights payment of around 15k every few years. Definitely levy worthy.

Bud was a tried and true deadbeat leading deadbeats down the path of debt evasion. Any legitimate collection agency would take the time to teach you how to deal with the criminal enterprises calling themselves debt collectors because we don't want them in our industry.

Bud attacked children of agency owners, spouses, churches, neighbors, relatives. He was an angry, vicious man. I only hope he made peace with his creator before he passed.for the rest of you; stop scamming and honor your obligations, keep your promises, tighten your belt and be a man or woman of your word. Everyone complains about the immorality of the world today but nobody wants to take the small steps to change it.

I am saddened by the loss of Bud Hibbs. Was trying to locate information on a bottom feeding debt collector when I came across this crap. The originator of this complaint and those who have bashed Bud Hibbs here have ZERO clue about Bud Hibbs. He helped me beat one of the BESTof the WORST debt collection agencies from the east coast and their attorneys with his expertise. They tried to sue me in a local Justice of the Peace court to which I answered the summons as well as a nice, curt reply back to them that I was about to beat them in court as well as countersue them for harassment and filing charges against them for perjury, official lawyer misconduct and a few others charges that I had evidence against them. They dropped the lawsuit within 2 weeks after the letter. I've also had debt collectors sending me letters and I tell them the same thing...GET LOST and Cease Communication or face me hauling their butts into court. The letters and calls stop almost immediately and my credit isn't affected.

I find it completely Amusing that all these "consumers" are calling Budd Hibbs a "Godsend". He was a Debtor who found a way to make a living by Not paying his debt back. His info was Outdated. You call those bill collectors "###" & "Bottom Feeders" ...Funny, they would Not be employed if YOU would only do Your Part and pay back what You Owe. It Is because of People like You, our economy is in shambles. Utterly disgraceful. I have Never been a debtor Or a "Collector" but, I Always pay my bills...Even if it means getting another job for the time being. Stop blaming the world and take responsibility for Your Own actions. Be an Adult. Grow Up & Stop Taking out loans, CC's, cars or whatever else it is that YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY BACK. SIMPLE. May God Rest his soul.

I find it amusing people like you talk about things you know nothing about and criticize others for trying to help. Budd Hibbs' book helped with dealing with collectors who will say ANYTHING to get money. You can stuff your criticisms as though people just decide to blow off their responsibilities or that their spending is just reckless. Hibbs' book clearly says he is not advocating for people to not pay their bills. It to help people understand their credit and how to deal with collectors when they can't pay. I lost my job and did everything I could to pay the bills. Credit card companies refused to accept less than the minimum and turned me over to unscrupulous collections. I was getting 10-15 threatening calls a day. One told me I was going to jail if I didn't pay. Not that not having an income and wondering how you will feed your children is not stress enough. I didn't know what my rights were or what these companies could do to me, until I read Bud Hibbs book. One sued me and Budd Hibbs referred me to a defense attorney who not only made the lawsuit and the debt go away, but sued the collector and refunded my attorney fees. Bud Hibbs did help me tremendously and twenty years later, I have over 800 credit score.

I communicated with Bud via e-mail regarding some junk debt buyers trying to collect on a payday loan debt that was: past the statute of limitations in my state; unlawful because the lender was not licensed with my state; and unlawful because the fees charged were in excess of state law. Bud was always helpful and polite in communication, and even though I mentioned that I might look at filing suit against the debt collector (who actually threatened my parents via telephone at one point), Bud pointed out once and only once that he could help me with that, and then didn't push the matter further - yet still continued to offer advice and point me to good (and indisputable) legal resources such as the FDCPA information published by the FTC. I can only assume that the people throwing around these false allegations regarding Bud are shills of the collection industry.

He did not pretend to help people in debt--he actually DID help! He helped me several years ago over the phone, and never ONCE asked me for a single penny! He was very understanding, compassionate and knowledgeable about the lower-than-### debt collectors who were always harassing me. I never avoided paying my debt (nor would I ever want to), he simply showed me how I could get their reporting to work in my favor by not using any negative verbiage on my credit file once I agreed to pay off my balances! I was saddened to hear of his passing in May 2012, because now I can't personally speak with him again. But his legacy of help lives on, and I am eternally grateful, and I fully support what his organization continues to do to this day.

Wow, I just tried to contact Bud Hibbs, but it looks like he has passed. Very sad.

With him being gone, is there someone else in the industry anyone can recommend? This is quite shocking and I need some help.

Thanks.

Over the years, Mr. Hibbs helped me so many times and never charged me a cent. I believe he had 25+ years of experience, and I know he had a reputation for helping those of us who didn't understand how the credit and financial systems worked and the effect it had on us. His guidance was based on the laws. Not laws that he made up, but laws that the GOVERNMENT put into place to protect consumers from unscrupulous debt collectors. Debt collectors did it to themselves. They didn't want to play fair so the government stepped in and gave them the "rules".

Mr. Hibbs will be missed.

I was a client of Bud Hibbs and was shocked to learn that he passed away when I attempted to contact him for advice this afternoon. I paid him thousands over the years. He always did exactly what he said he would do and helped me immensely. Though very saddened by his death, I am disappointed that he did not have a provisional plan to reimburse his clients for services he sadly was unable to fulfill. I have been left high and dry with no one to contact and all the confidential information I entrusted him with is who knows where? All of his phone numbers have been disconnected and of course his email addresses are disabled too. Bud was a good man and knew his stuff. I just wish he had made better plans in case the worst happened, which it unfortunately did.

The writer does not speak from personal experience but as a character assassin from the debt collecting community. Bud would not have gotten this poison arrow unless he was as successful as he was in ripping the ill-gotten gains out of the hands of con-men and criminals. There are many debt collectors who will tell you Bud was both honest and effective and cost them great sums of money, which Bud helped keep and put into the hands of hardworking Americans set upon by lawless financial bullies, whom Bud helped educate and taught how to stand up for themselves. Read the McCullough vs. Johnson case from the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeal (California) on which retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Conner sat in on, and you'll see just how successful what he taught worked, and you'll understand why this hateful person wrote what he did. Bud passed away June 17, 2012, but leaves all America with tons of help on how not to let others wrongfully take your money.

All the negative comments against Bud are crap. I talked to him over the phone, took his advice, hired the attorney he suggested and beat both of the low life companies that came after me and their attorneys. It went exactly as Bud said it would. The people putting these negative comments on here sound like crooked bill collectors to me. So many of them have went under or to prison or both because of Bud's exposing them they will resort to anything as is evidenced here.

Hibbs has for years been engaged in the unauthorized practice of law. The former Richard Hibschweiler. Changed his name to evade his own creditors. Judgments, garnishments and liens up and down the ying-yang.

So Bud Hibbs is a joke, all the people you try to scam from your call center are a joke to you too, do you seriously think anyone reading your crap wants to believe it ? Who are you defending ? Please tell us the name of the company you represent I'm sure it's on Bud's list . Bud Hibbs provides the information on CRIMINAL PRACTICES of collection agencies. He informs people of the Federal Law in place that punishes ### CRIMINAL DEBT COLLECTORS and gives general information to file complaints with the FTC. As one of their poster children you must be aware of these laws.

To the person who is knocking Bud Hibbs, after reading info on his website I'm in agreement with him. It's obvious that you are one of these ### he is instructing us to fight back. Ever heard of Worldwide Recoveries ? I have, they need to be shut down. My online name is "DECKAPE" and I have zero creditor problems, put in the phone numbers pertaining to "WORLDWIDE RECOVERIES, LLC IN ANY SEARCH ENGINE AND READ MY COMMENTS ". It seems WWR o goes by many aliases. Long story short, we are not talking about debt collectors that obey the law. Explain to me the reason I get calls for my ex- wife and relatives I have no association with, then after I tell these people not to call; my phone rings off the hook and I get nasty insults, etc. So I got me a lawyer and filed a lawsuit, because for the last three years of this bull I was ignorant to the laws that protect me.
All I have to say to WWR keep the calls coming, I will file consecutive lawsuits to make it stop. This is a complaints board for people complaining about unlawful practices, scams and rip-offs. It's not here for criminals to post glowing testimonials of themselves and to throw doubt. Worldwide Recoveries needs to be shut down, Bud Hibbs provides information like the various aliases that Worldwide Recoveries and information on other criminal collection agencies. I bet anyone that writes a bad review of Bud Hibbs are the same ### he has exposed they think everyone is stupid enough to believe their dribble and should remain ignorant of their rights under current Federal Law. That is the goal of these predators to wish that everyone fall down stupid each time they call and threaten them, they contact relatives to make payments stating their son, daughter or grandkid will go to jail unless the bill is settled, this is called extorsion.
I have made my own posts and are telling everyone how to stop Worldwide Recoveries and other crooks. Others are following suit !

Yes collection companies may push the issue but bottom line is pay your bills. If you charge up a credit card you need to pay it back dont go looking for ways to get out of your debt with Bud Hibbs. Little does anyone know Bud Hibbs use to be a debtor himself, kind of hard to take advice from someone who didnt pay his own bills. You guys keep saying "###" and "bottom feeders" arent those really the people who arent paying their bill to even keep these places in busniess? Lets face it if the everyone paid their bills on time collection companies would never be in business becuase there would not be enough debt to be spread to all these so called "bottom fedders".
Bud Hibbs is a joke he does make his money of collection companies which a lot of people probably dont know. Ask him about the monies paid to him each month by some agencies just to keep their name off his web site. Is one agency better then the other because Bud says so or is Bud the bad guy for taking the money and not bad mouthing their name?

The advice I got from his site was extremely valuable and I can tell you that his site did not refer me to an attorney. It gave me valuable information about attorneys that work for these bottom feeder collection companies and helped me defend myself over a debt that I didn't owe. If you badmouth someone like that, you must be one of those slime attorneys that work for these debt purchasers. Good luck convincing anyone of your viewpoint.

Bud Hibbs is not a lawyer, he is a dedicated consumer advocate. For many years he has given advice from his website and radio show in Dallas. He also speaks at many function to assist people in need. Bud has assisted my family and I many times, he has spoken at our church and performed many hours of assistance without asking for a cent. One attorney in our church said that Bud has special gifts and by sharing them is performing a valuable humanitarian service. Mr. Hibbs is widely known and respected for his cause and the assistance he provides to those in need. We feel that God has truly blessed us with his work.

I also have dealt with Bud Hibbs. He has talked with me over the phone numerous times (for free) to give me advice as well as some of my students with debt issues. I would consider him an expert on the laws here in Texas (I live right down the street from his office on Magnolia), and he certainly made me feel much better--which was worth the call. I would recommend him to anyone looking for some peace of mind regarding collection agencies.

Betan - You have obviously never dealt with Bud Hibbs or used his services or you would not be libeling him so badly. Bud is not a bad person or a bad lawyer. You, on the other hand, sound like a hate monger and someone who has become emotionally involved with things which you obviously don't fully understand. I did a little research and read some of the other postings you've put up. I am unimpressed by your unsubstantiated and opinionated rhetoric. Why are you being a bigot? I ask the same as the guy above - "What has Bud Hibbs done to you?" I have dealt with Bud Hibbs so I can say with experience that Bud is an upstanding person who is helping people out. There are lots of people out there looking to rip people off, but Bud is not one of them. Heck, I was a perfect stranger to Bud and he helped me out for nothing! I have dealt with other attorneys who know and work with him and what you are saying about him is the polar opposite of what anyone who has met him would say about him. And about your "spamming" statement - I occasionally run across advertisements for Bud on some of the credit and debt correction forums, but I don't believe I've ever been spammed by Bud even though his office has my information. Can you supply one of these supposed Spam emails that seems to have set you off? I'd like to see it.

I cannot imagine why you chose to attack Bud. If you think that a "Real Credit Counselor" with some certificate from a 3 month course at a Trade school is going to be more help than Bud, who is a highly experienced and educated Specialist, then you're out of your mind. Most Credit Counselors actually know very little about debt correction. They work off of a script given to them by their employer and they might give you one or two options for consolidation and/or refinancing. Most credit counselors will try to talk you into rolling unsecured debts into your mortgage with a refi and/or a debt consolidation loan which converts multiple unsecured debts into one large secured debt. Now, if you miss a couple payments you risk losing your home instead of just crapping up your credit report. Most people who utilize credit counseling fail to resolve their debts with the methods they are given. With Bud you will have a "Real" chance to repair your debt, and not just refinance yourself into a worse position.

In a previous post, you once asked, "Is it me - or is society getting sicker and more twisted with each passing day? What ever happened to people leaving other people alone?!"
- -- I know that your question was rhetorical, but I'll answer it anyhow. --------It's you!-------
