Be careful using Bookit.com

We booked a hotel in Breckenridge, Colorado through Bookit.com and had to cancel last minute due to medical reasons. I contacted a Bookit.com customer service representative to see what our options were as far as refunds or changing the dates. She pretty much summed up the whole interaction with, "Sorry, there is nothing we can do for you since this is the busy season for the hotel you booked with in Colorado." I explained to her that we would be willing to push the reservation date back to summer 2008 because I am active duty miltiary and I was going to be deploying in 3 weeks but there was still nothing the Bookit.com customer service representative would do. Wow. We are out $700.00 and worse, this is a pretty sad standard for a "customer service orientated company" as Bookit.com claims to be. LAST TIME WE USE THIS SERVICE!

Here's the issues I have with problems like this. If you booked your reservation online your offered an option to take advantage of travel insurance to cover any family or medical emergencies. If you chose to not take that option how is it Bookit.com fault the resort is not willing to provide a refund for a last minute cancellation? I've worked in the resort ski desitination and know for a fact that most of the properties do not offer refund options because it is considered the "High Season" and rooms are a premium.

You want to blame someone else for your failure to plan correctly for your trip and ocver yourself with insurance then that falls on your shoulders...not Bookit.
