Total waste of money - SCAM
Complaint Rating: 100 % with 4 votes
Company information:
Bluegreen Resorts
United States

We mistakenly bought from Bluegreen two years ago. What a big mistake! We were scammed into the lowest amount possible (6000 points every other year). We can't use it! Overpaid for it and are still paying on it. We were told by the sales rep and sale manager that were were being deeded a great property location and week. Come to find out when we finally received our "Deed" it was for a little place in Michigan during January. Who goes to Michigan in January...COME ON!

Meet a guy from a different timeshare place. He used to work for Bluegreen. He said to contact our local Attorney General and the Attorney General in the state we purchased the product in and file a complaint against Bluegreen. He said that they would either let us out of our contract or payoff what is left owed just to make us go away. He also told us that several owners with Bluegreen have done just that and have been able to have their expenses for the property reimbersed due to Bluegreen not wanting the stockholders to find out about unhappy customers. We are definitely going to do it!

Sowen- BG has a new onlile booking system. You can go on yourself and see availability for places. I was searching for myself to use up some spare points, and had no problem whatsoever finding the following: Fantasy Island (Daytona Beach) in September, Mountainloft (Gatlinburg) September and Next June, Patrick Henry (Williamsburg) in this December, ShoreCrest (North Myrtle) next June. I am not a premier member, if these are out there for my they are for you too. Stop complaining and TRY to use the thing, it's great!!!

If fraud and deceptive sales methods were used in the sales session, Michelle, you still may be able to get out of this contract.

i so wish that i could get my down payment and forget my decision to become a bluegreen owner. they do not show you the rooms that your 6000 points can get you. would have definitely done just as well paying for a week at a hotel as we usually do... not having to book 11 months in advance and we would not be obligated to pay the property taxes.

If you want enough points to take some great vacations, buy more points on ebay or through pinnacle vacations. That is what we did. We take 2-3 great vacations every year. With all the great resorts Bluegree has, you just need to get some good resale points and use them.

RCI is a Wyndham Worldwide company, not the parent company of Bluegreen. I don't know of a single timeshare company that can sell its product without lying in these times. It is always better to rent than to be stuck with something that diminishes in value by 90% the minute you sign your check.

Your Bluegreen contract can be canceled, even if you are past the rescission date: somebonus@yahoo.com

When we would call to book, we were told EACH AND EVERY single time no matter where and when we wanted to go "You just don't have enough points for that." We instead ended up using bonus time at $89 a night. So we have tried. Come time find out, Bluegreen has several lawsuits against them in many different states. In one state the State Attorney General went after them. It's not just us that was taken for a ride. Not only that the federal government has launched an investigation into RCI, Bluegreen's parent company for violations of consumer rights. It's definitely turning out to be a buyer beware company.

Sowen- you either did not receive a proper explanation of how the club works, or did not pay attention. As Mankinholes said, it doesn't matter where you are deeded. We are new owners too, bought 5, 000 points (10, 000 biennially) in Fall 2008. Bought in Shenandoah, deeded out of Vegas, and had no problem booking 5 nights in June 2009 at Shenandoah, 6 nights in April 2010 at Pono Kai, 2 bonus nights in Hershey April 2009, 2 bonus nights in Atlantic City May 2009, and a RCI hot deal week in the Poconos Feb 2009. And it all cost much less than if we paid for hotel rooms for all that! Visit the website or join one of the owner forums and learn how to use it and enjoy it instead of whining. It's not rocket science! Try what we did and call on a couple Monday mornings to check availability on resorts you are interested in, you will soon see which ones are hardest to get. Save your points for the hardest one first. If you find it difficult to book 11 months out, you'll have to settle for less popular resorts, but seriously there is no reason Bluegreen ownership can't work to your advantage!

My wife and I are also owners. We stayed at Boyne Mountian in Michigan last fall. It was a wonderful ski/ golf resort in a beautiful "upnorth" area of Mich. We used 3000 of our pts. for a week. While we were there we took a golf lesson and played 9 holes on the back side of Boyne Mt. We were literly alone on 7 of the holes in the mature hardwood forest the course was crafted from. The best use for the points we have found is to be close to one of the properties. For us, that would be Christmas Mt. at Wisconsin Dells. This year we had 30, 000 pts. and we're down to 12, 000 after 3 trips and 2 gifts. One can make these venues work to thier advantage.

It does not matter where your points are deeded you have 6000 eoy points in the Vacation club, that means that you can make a resevation at any Bluegreen resort 11 months out, , Granted 6000 points are not a lot but it will get you quit a few days as long as you avoid weekends ie travel Monday to Thursday
Unlike most timeshares this is a points club and you are not tied to your deeded week/unit/resort unless you want to be and then its yours at 12 month out period once it reaches 11 months it goes into the club for everyone else to use.

But remember you have as much chance to get your reservation of your choice (dependent on you having enough points) as any other club member at the 11 month out date, it is that simple to use.

No secret formula, no secret codes, just phone reservations first thing in the morning at the 11 month out date you want to travel and you will get your reservation.
