Phony collect call charge

I received a $10.46 charge on my phone bill for a collect call from Arizona. The thing is, I do not have a actual phone hooked up to this phone line (because everyone in the family uses cellular phones and all we get are telemarketers, so we unhooked the phone). So it is impossible to agree to a collect call WITHOUT a phone. I called the number on the bill for that charge and they said that they could only give me a 50% credit and I was like WTF. I am not paying for a service that I didn't pay for or receive.
This Billwithus, Inc. company uses the company Transaction Clearing, LLC to bill people through their Local Telephone Bill for Bogus charges. I'd just like to say to anyone who has been a victim of this, please call your telephone service provider and dispute the charge. Do not pay the extra amount!

| i got my AT&T bill today, and noticed a collect call that i don't remember receiving. i even asked my husband, he doesn't recall receiving a ph call during that time. Right away i called that ph# 1877-257-2455 thinking it's AT&T's customer service #. I was able to talk to someone and right away they said they will credit me for it. i even asked the person why this is happening and she said call BILLWITIHUS and they will tell you why. I looked at the bill again and that's when i realized that the ph # i had just called was BILLWITHUS, INC ph #. Duhhhh. i dialed that ph # again and as soon as i enter my ph # it hangs up on it's own. what a bunch of *&%#@@@@!!! I found AT&T's (real) customer service ph #. I called and reported this, and I was told that they allow 3rd party to bill a customer. The AT&T customer service representative was able to remove this charge from my bill and was able to put a restriction (not allowing a 3rd party to bill) in my account. CHECK YOUR BILL EVERY MONTH! AND CALL YOUR TELEPHONE COMPANY RIGHT AWAY, WHEN YOU SEE THIS. |

| this billwithus, inc shit also has done it to me i receive a bill with a charge from at&t thank for these messages i know what to now. i am not working and i have recieved a bill of $65, i calling at&t how can at&t allow this when i requested restriction the time i got their services and i paid them to keep my line restricted. at&t has been a headache really bad service |

On my June 2009 phone bill, I did receive a charge for a long distance call from Phonix AZ for the amount of $7.20 which of course was billed by AT&T on behalf of BILLWITHUS, INC. Since we keep a log of all distance calls, we notice that said call never was accepted, so I call Billwithus, but they never answered to us, so I call AT&T and asked to have the charge remove and to put a stop to third party companies charges. The agent told me that the 7.20 will be sent back to Billwithus and that they will try to collect on their own.
I appreciate the help received from above comments because I was able to have a plan to deal with this crimimals. Yes I call them criminals because imagine the damaged caused to people who depends on government assistance. |

| I received my AT&T bill yesterday and I notice a charge for $8.40 call from AZ. I do not have anybody in AZ. I called the company to remove this charge and they offer me to give 50% off. I told them that if you do not remove this charge I will have to complain to FCC and than she agree to remove this charge and hopefull i will receive this credit in next billing cycle. |

| THIS IS THE SECON CONSECUTIVE BILL I RECEIVE FROM ATT WHERE THERE IS A 12.54 CHARGE FROM BILLWITHUS INC. WHEN I CALLED ATT THEY TOLD ME TO CALL BILLWITHUS AND DEAL WITH THEM. I CALLED BILLWITHUS AND THEY NEVER ANSWRED MY CALL. ATT AGREED TO REFUND THE MONEY FOR LAST MONTH BUT I HAVENT CALLED THEM FOR THIS MONTH. I JUST SO HAPPEN TO BE SITTING AT THE OCMPUTER AND SEARCHED BILLWITHUS INC. AND FOUND YOUR PAGE THANKS YOU FOR KEEPING PEOPLE INFORMED. |

For people who get this charge in the future, here is what I did. First I called BillWIthUs, Inc and asked them to remove the entire amount from the bill. They will offer you a 50% credit or more. Ask them that you want the whole thing removed, they will say all they can do is give you a 50% credit (which is BS). Just accept the credit.
Then call AT&T and dispute the charge, because you never accepted any collect calls. They will tell you to call BillWithUs; tell them that you did and they couldn't do anything about it. Ask AT&T, why are they billing through them? They will explain that they allow third-parties to bill through them. Tell AT&T that you are not paying for this charge and you want to dispute it. They will simply credit this amount immediately and you just pay your bill minus the bogus charge. Ask them to not allow any third-parties to bill through them anymore because you do not want to be billed for fraudulent charges and they will have to agree to your request.
On you next billing cycle you will receive a 50% credit. So you did not pay for the bogus charge and you received some savings through your AT&T bill. Just think of this as compensation for your time in dealing with this. |

| My father got a bill from this BILLWITHUS, INC. My father paid his entire bill and asked me to call AT&T to check what that was all about. I called AT&T and customer service just asked if we authorized the call and after I said "no" she said she can only credit my father's account 70%. They offered to block off this number from getting through his line again. What's AT&T doing to stop this, since a lot of their customers are having this problem? AT&T cannot just stop blocking them and not make them stop doing it. This company needs to be prosecuted. |

| I have also had a problem with this BILLWITHUS company.. the said collect call was from California and I call only to receive no answer and a fax sound when they do answer. I called AT&T and they said they would remove the charge but I had three months to deal with the 3rd party company, I've been trying to look up the company and came across this page.. I have received my bill for this month and again the charged amount is on the statement... What can I do... I have to receive calls from another third party company.. DO you think that if I ask AT&T to block just this BILLWITHUS company they will? |

| It just happened to me. I got billed for $16.07. I called billwithus inc. for an hour and just got an answering machine. Left a message and then called ATT as soon as they opened. They recoursed (sp?) the bill. I'm not paying for a collect call that I didn't accept. I wasn't even home. Told ATT about this website and the complaints against bill withus. Anyway, complain to FCC about cramming. |

| Same story as everybody but Andy from BillWithUs dare to tell me that my machine accepted the call so I have to pay it first & then they will reimbursed the money. Does makes sense to all of you? Since when answering machines have brains to make decisions accepting collect calls. Thank to this site I was able to find another victims. |

| WE NEED TO DO MORE! Just received a bill from AT&T saying I accepted a collect call from Salinas, CA. I have not accepted a collect call since my kids were in college. I will dispute it immediately and will also notify the FCC and my legislators. How can this firm continue to make a living by charging calls to innocent victims? There seems to be no legal way to stop them. Consequently, laws need to be amended to make it a criminal offense to send erroneous calls through other companies for billing. It would seem that AT&T would see so much of this illegal activity that it and the industry would work to see that it is stopped -- afterall they have to answer and listen to a lot of complaints. Unless -- uhh -- they are profiting from this scam themselves. And I suspect that is the basis of their lack of follow-through. Afterall, when AT&T receives a bill to collect ... they receive a portion of that phone payment ... so why should they stop an operation that actually pays them to look the other way? They won't. That's why you must contact governments officials to legally stop this nonsense. |

Today is Feb 1st 2010, I've got a AT&T bill 4 days ago with 7.20 ($) included from the phony collect call from Billwithus.INC
I called up ATT and the worker says she will remove the 7.20($) but now I checked my online ATT account.. she did not remove it! |

Today is July 21, 2010, and I just received a bogus charge as well on my AT&T bill. I called customer service and they removed it. The funny thing was, they could not even see the charge anywhere on my bill. So, I went through the charges, X.XX dollars for internet, X.XX for phone line, X.XX for my cell. And I said, do you see another charge for $14.95? No. Well if you add up the charges you see for my services, does it equal the total amount for the bill? NO! Wow! Yes, as a matter of fact, it was $14.95 less than the total, so AT&T couldn't explain it either.
Same thing, it was a charge from Transaction Clearing, LLC. This needs to be stopped, and furthermore, these people need to get arrested. |
